It is possible to Relock bootloader with this modification? - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hi, i have a xiaomi mi 6. The bootloader is unlocked, officially.
My question is: can i relock the bootloader after i moved two apps as a system apps? The applications only work that way, or with root privileges. Those two app is needed to enable or disable android services.
I use banking apps, which detect rooted or unlocked phones. Safetynet need to
pass. Keeping root or magisk is not an option for me. Beside safetynet, those banking apps have their own custom detecting sistem, which magisk can't hide.
I have stock recovery now , root is removed (unrooted).
On my old sony z3 that procedures worked, dose is work on mi 6 too? Or it will brick the device.? A bricked device with locked bootloader is a nightmare...
I want a locked bootloader to be able to use fingerprint and use all of my banking apps. But i need to enable/disable services at any time.

Hi,
From what I heard, if you relock the bootloader, you won't be able to unlock it again as xiaomi won't give you the right to unlock phone twice. So it's a bad idea.

Thanks for replying.
If you get permission to unlock officially, you cand unlock and relock as many times as you want.

Absolutely not. If you made a modification of the system, dm-verity will notice it, and the phone will be stuck in a bootloop.

Boot in custom recovery and move the app in system.. You dont need root for that. Just un-encrypted phone and TWRP.
Main problem will be, how you get the files from the apk. You could install it on another phone (which is rooted), make the app a system app and then get the folders of said app, which you can copy via adb to your Mi6. And in recovery mode you can mount system as rw.
OR
TWRP has a feature to make any app a system app (dunno)
OR
someone can make you flashable zip file for TWRP.

Thanks man, but converting app to system app is not a problem. I can do that with root or with twrp, as you mentioned.
The problem is relocking the bootloader after i moved app as a system app and disabled some services.

Will dm-verity prevent my phone from booting if i flash no-dm-verity patch or disable dm-verity from twrp?
After i disabled it, flash stock recovery and relock?

How to completely wipe everything (including Supersu systemless) from fastboot?

Is there any way to wipe everything non-stock (including supersu systemless, xposed, etc) from fasboot, without being able to enter recovery?
The normal cache, boot, bootloader, radio, recovery, vendor partitions can be flashed over, and flashing the userdata.img after erasing it in theory wipes /data/sdcard/0/ (or however it's called now). However, what about the other changes systemless supersu, xposed and other mods may have done? for example, supersu's partition would stay? How could I literally reset all this to pure stock?
Thanks!

Uninstall Xposed first. Now enter the bootloader and fastboot flash boot (to remove SuperSU) then fastboot flash system (to remove SuperSU and Xposed modifications in /system). That's it. Please use the factory image that matches your stock rom.

Thanks for the fast reply!
My problem is that I didn't disable Xposed before the problem happened, and now I can't entery recovery. I am with a bootlooping phone that can only enter fastboot (and even so sometimes crashes there), impossible to boot or enter recovery by all means (even after flashing stock recovery) .
After flashing the stock boot and system (and all others) partitions, SuperSU should be completely gone, but Xposed? If I wasn't able to disable it before, it would be hooking app_process and more stuff, but would this stuff be overwritten by the new boot and system?
Thanks a lot!! :good:

Yes, both are removed when you flash those files. Xposed modules would still be installed but you can uninstall those in Android. What did you do to bootloop?

Nothing. I hadn't flashed anything since august lol.. i was setting up an alarm and it froze and since then bootloop and freezes on every screen (including orange warning from bootloader unlocked, google logo, start of bootanimation, fastboot, recovery (when by miracle it shows the first image or stock one for a frame..) and even the charging animation when trying to charge it offline crashes).
I have talked with a google rep and she menaced me with warranty void if the device software was not original, lol?? on a nexus? on Europe when software modifications can't void a hardware problem warranty?? is this normal on Google? I know people that in the past sent devices even rooted booting normally and there was no problem, I don't know if something changed with the Pixel approach now... the only semi-stable boot mode is fastboot, most of the time it boots with the hardware combination keys and only sometimes crashes, most of the time lets you flash stuff with no problem.
I have flashed all the stock partitions (including erasing userdata and flashing userdata from the factory images..) and I don't know if I should lock the bootloader or just send it unlocked like I told them I had lol..

[HOW-TO] How to SuperSU the Moto G5 Plus (Rooting Guide)

Hey guys,
Thanks to @vanche for the modified kernel and twrp recovery and @fayiaz for the guide on how to root and @Johny Cipel for the original guide and everyone else like
@topjohnwu
@santhosh
@abdyasar
For the original twrp, root and other stuff.
Now thats out of the way
Requirements:
-Unlocked Bootloader (Moto G5 Plus with offers from Amazon won't have unlockable bootloaders but if you buy the standard model from them then you'll be fine)
-Vanche's Modified TWRP from here (http://cloud.vache-android.com/Moto/potter/TWRP/twrp-3.1.0-0-potter.img)
- Vanche's Modified Boot Kernel from here (http://cloud.vache-android.com/Moto/potter/root/potter_boot_test7.img)
- Vanche's Wifi Patch because wifi will stop working after flashing the modified boot kernel (http://cloud.vache-android.com/Moto/potter/root/wlan_custom.zip)
- Chainfires Root http://download.chainfire.eu/1021/SuperSU/SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip
--- If you already have TWRP on your phone, the one by Santosh, you must flash the one made by Vanche or it wont work and you can just download the recovery image and flash it via twrp by toggling the flash zip button on the twrp recovery install menu.
1.. Download all the three files then boot your phone into bootloader mode by holding Volume Down + Power
2. Connect your phone to your PC and then open the adb terminal wherever adb is located open command prompt at that folder
3. Place the recovery image and boot image where the adb terminal folder is located
4. Fastboot flash recovery first and then boot into recovery at least once then reboot into bootloader fastboot flash boot the modified boot image.
5. Boot into the system (May take a while for the first time after flashing the boot image).
6. Place the wlan_custom.zip into your phones internal storage
7. Boot back into recovery and then flash the zip this time
8. Then download and flash the SR3 Super Su from above using recovery and you should have root!!
Safety net may break so if you wanna use Snapchat or any other apps that use safety net make sure you login first then root. You can't logout or else you'll have to unroot and log back in.

The phone will wipe as soon as you unlock the bootloader so best to back up first.

Only the 'Prime Exclusive - With Offers and Ads' Amazon models don't have an unlockable bootloader, while the 'Standard Version' models can definitely be unlocked. You probably should clarify that or some will think that they can't buy from Amazon and unlock/root the phone.

Will do thanks
The "Magisk method" didn't give me privileges on /system, there are some things I can do and others do not, this method gave me full root access like in the other MotoG devices? And the safetynet check fails too?
Anyway thank you very much!!
What's going to be different than magisk root?

Do you think that will be fixed soon with a newer version of SuperSU, or some "root hider" apps? The idea of running a phone without root is absurd/offensive/rediculous IMO, but I don't want to be denied the ability to run certain apps because the developers have the rediculous idea that running without root should be "OK" to ordinary users? This idea is extremely offensive to me!!!
Guys, I wonder why the OP is "Account currently disabled"? I hate running without root, but, it seems a bit early and not all the problems have been worked out yet, such as TWRP not accessing SDCARD yet - I think I was a little premature buying my Moto G5 Plus as we don't really have "stable" release custom ROMs or fully functioniong TWRP and to even root we have to rely on some not well known sources for kluged files to make SU work?

Possible through adb
I read in this forum but i didn't remember but it's possible by adb.
U can but have to unlock bootloader
up
Before using this RN5P I was an user of Mi A1 which was under android one, there I was using GCAM but without having phone been rooted. What the scripts behind that GCAM tool was, firstly it unlocks the bootloader then it temporarily ran TWRP recovery only for flashing the GCAM zip file then the script ended with exit from TWRP and lock back the bootloader. I am wondering if the same thing can be apply here in RN5P. But here in MIUI we need to wipe the storage whilst unlocking, that's the catch. But who cares if I keep the backup manually and restore back.

You can lock and unlock bootloader in mia1 with ADB commands. But here you have to unlock with mi unlock tools.
u can enable camera2api without root. but u have to have unlocked bootloader.
steps:
unlock bootloader.
reboot into fastboot mode
download multirom_twrp-whyred-07042018.img
place it in to your adb folder
connect phone with pc using a usb cable (while in fastboot mode)
now run this command in adb "fastboot boot multirom_twrp-whyred-07042018.img"
this will boot your phone into twrp.
now download this file "Camera_2API.zip"
copy it into your phones internal storage
go to twrp and flash this zip.
from twrp select "reboot to system" and select "do not install" in next screen.
this will reboot ur phone to miui and u have camera2api enabled without root.
after that u can install gcam mod and it will work. i m using gcam mod this way.
all those files i have mentioned are available on respective threads on this forum.

Need help! Magisk v17 bootloop

Hi Everyone,
I need some help. The short of it is that Magisk has put me into a bootloop. Here is what I have done to end up at this point:
1) Attempted to install Magisk v17 when the notification popped up. This failed and then removed root from my phone but the phone was working normally otherwise at this point.
2) Attempted to run the Magisk Uninstaller zip in TWRP. It appeared to run fine.
3) Attempted to run the Magisk v17 zip while still in TWRP right after running the Uninstaller. It appeared to run fine.
4) Attempted to reboot and this is where my real trouble began. I am now stuck in a bootloop.
5) Got back into TWRP
6) Attempted to run the Uninstaller again. This time it fails with an error.
7) I then attempted to boot into bootloader mode. I was able to get there but then running "fastboot devices" shows no phone attached.
I'm at a loss of what to do now and I really don't want to factory reset. Is there anything I can do to get out of this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
OK so I have since been able to reflash boot.img and I'm now able to boot the phone. Still not sure what to do about getting root back though.
Just install trwp again and flash magisk, I'm running 17.1 with few modules activated and had no problems with the latest updates

Don't root the phone then and read on how to relock your phone is my personal advice. Had a similar issue with the German skygo app and it was detecting the unlock.

I don't have issue with it detecting that the bootloader is unlocked.
The apps that detected root only detect that part. I even have TWRP still running with the stock image reflashed.
Just want to find a reliable source of how to unroot phone after rooting. I think I know what to do and it is all related to the boot.img
I just have to try it.

Question Need advice on how to properly root and unlock bootloader of poco f3

I have a poco f3 M2012K11AG 6gb 128 storage. can anyone helpme where to find a guide which doesnt involve spyware methos of rooting my f3? also what custom rom do you guys recommend?
will other apps not continue to function if rooted or bootloader unlocked?
First, you'll need to unlock your bootloader
Now this is the long boring part:
Unlocking your bootloader will wipe your data
You'll need a xiaomi account
Go to Developer options
Allow OEM Unlocking
Allow USB Debugging
Allow Install via USB
Allow USB Debugging (Security Settings)
(The previous two bullets are just incase)
Go to Mi Unlock Status and click "Add account and device"
Download Mi Unlock Tool
Using Mi Unlock Tool, install drivers (from the small settings button on the top right corner)
Log in to your xiaomi account in the Mi Unlock Tool
Boot your phone in fastboot mode and connect it to your PC
In the Mi Unlock Tool, Click unlock
The Mi Unlock Tool will tell you to wait 7 days
Unplug your phone, boot it and use it normally until the 7 days are over, HOWEVER, don't logout from the xiaomi account in the phone if you don't want to wait another 7 days.
When the 7 days are over, repeat step 6 & 7
Second, boot twrp
Third, flash the magisk apk (from its github) using twrp
Forth, Safetynet
In Magisk App
Enable Zygisk
Enable Enforce DenyList
In Configure DenyList
Select Google Play Services and enable gms and gms.unstable
Download and flash Safetynet Fix (Zygisk Version)
Force Close, Clear Data and Uninstall Updates from Google Play Store app then update it again and use it normally
Reboot
If any app didnt work because of root, Hide it in Denylist
Done
Another method for rooting without booting twrp and rest of it is to extract the boot image from rom payload.bin using pc and copy it to phone storage. Then install magisk apk normally. Patch boot image with magisk and flash new boot image to boot partition with adb on pc. Done.
@3zozHashim
thanks will reply again once my 7 day waiting period is done and successfully unlocked.
where to i get twrp?
is it possible to root an unlocked phone but keep data? im having second thoughts on rooting so might want to hold it off
You will loose all data when unlocking the bootloader.
When rooting the phone, you will not loose data.
I use fastboot instead of TRWP for rooting :
install Magisk apk like an app
then extract the boot.img from your current MIUI version: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/alioth/
use the "fastboot" image and unzip it, you will find the boot.img inside.
if the fastboot image is not available, you can use the "recovery" image and extract its content with payload-dumper-go for example
copy the boot img to your phone and patch the extracted boot.img on your phone within Magisk app : Magisk -> Install and follow instructions
copy the patched_boot.img back to your PC or Mac and flash the patched_boot.img to both partitions on your phone with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot_a patched_boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b patched_boot.img

A question, since there a many different how to root in this forum and i get confused. (My phone is in the waiting time for bootloader unlock.)
If i can install magisk.apk like an app, i can select the "Direct Install (recommemded)" method (as recommended in another thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/twrp-root.4328611/post-86055651), why do i need twrp?
Or can i just install magisk through twrp?

direct install will only work if you are already rooted
The only two options are :-
TWRP flash magisk.apk
Select and Patch boot.img
extract boot.img using twrp or downloading the stock rom of your current stock rom version and extracting boot.img from it
side note:- you can use twrp to root but not flash twrp itself, therefore retain your stock recovery

Yes, you can rename the Magisk.apk into Magisk.zip, because it's also a flashable ZIP.
Boot TWRP (no need to install it), and install Magisk.zip.

Yup, as the other person said, depends on your choice of Custom ROM. Also, always Magisk AFTER installing a ROM.
I recommend checking out the YouTuber "Munchy", he does great videos on how to do any thing in regards to Xiaomi Phones. Even crDroid ^^
When you flash Magisk, enable Zygisk and install the Magisk Module "SafetyNet-Fix" from GitHub.
This is so that Google SafetyNet will pass, and you're able to use Payment Apps, Netflix etc..
