What do people think of using the newly released Google Contacts vs. the version that comes installed from Moto? Now that Google has released Contacts for every version of Android >5.0, we have access to v2.1.2 vs. version 1.4.22 on our phones.
Does anyone have experience with both installed? Is it as simple as deactivating the built-in version and using the version from the store?
I disabled the stock Moto contacts and downloaded the Google Contacts from Playstore. Functions It should. Don't notice much difference. Rarely use contacts outside of the Phone app contacts function anyway.

Im thinking about flashing from a Sence ROM (leedroid 2.2) to a Stock Android one....what can I expect ? What apps wont be in the Stock Android and stuff like that
Anything Sense related (apps and widgets) won't be there
HTC Sync wont work (if you use that)
- Bluetooth FTP. Alternative must be downloaded from the market;
- Gallery 3D has worst picture quality, specially when zooming;
- Android dialer doesn't have smart dialing. Dialer One is an alternative;

Or Youlu adress book.
You also wont get Facebook birthdays in your calendar, there's an alternative to use EboBirthday which can sync your friends birthdays to a calendar created in Google Calendar.
I've found it to be faster, and you get more internal space due to a lot of the HTC stuff not being there (but with Apps2SD that's not so much of a consideration) Think I prefer vanilla now

I think I'm part of a minority here, but I'm trying to find the current version of Facebook Home, patched so it'll install on Nexus 4. I'm running the modaco one from a while ago but have to miss out on new Facebook and Messenger features because of it. Anyone know if there's an updated patched version anywhere?
I'm looking for a way to replace my stock dialer on 13b with Google own dialer and contacts app I've tried apkmirror for downloading them but they fail to install yes I made sure to try the one specifically for lollipop is their any way to do this?

Obviously not what you want - I'm honestly not sure how to get those working right now -
but you could use KK Dialer and KK Contacts from GPlay, then if you really wanted you could modify the icons to make them look like Google Dialer and Contacts,
their UI's are very very similar to Google's Stock. These are my replacements ATM.
Hopefully we get support for these two soon though! I wish to see it that Google keeps building their apps to support more and more devices.
I got Google dialer 2.05.07 RC4 working on my H811 device.

Thank you for the confirmation, we're looking for a minimum of 5.0 or 5.1.
2.0.5.07 RC4 is minimum 6.0. But that is good to know for M users!
I really like the default apps from Google and replaced everything I could with them, but the Play Store won't let me download the phone app and if I get the apk directly the installation always fails. Could anyone port the app over so I could use it instead of the Xperia phone app since that made some weird design choices and I would prefer the Google solution. Thanks in advance.

Many function doesn't work on this modded dialer.
New dialer is avaible only when you have root and copy dialer files to system apps.
You must waiting for DRM and root. Better install version non Nexus from apkmirror.

I'm not sure where I got mine, there is an old version you can download that works perfectly. Nearby features and caller ID.
Loaded the nonnexus version, works just fine. Thank you very much.
If you want basically the same features and the ability to have a dark/black theme...then use ZENui dialer and contacts and black theme all from the play store. Works great.

I had some non nexus version installed over my sony xperia x compact, and suddenly i got updated to version "google phone 14.0.176716531" 0_o
But in this version speed dial doesnt work well, so i was searching a little and found there is also newer version 15.0.179075669
apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-15-0-179075669-release/#description
And its working without any problem on xperia x compact. Don't have to mod anything, just install and thats all
Does anyone know the latest Google dialer to work on the honor 7x? I am using version 15.x. I need to use it for Android Auto reasons.

Did you need to add Google framework to get dialer to work?
I have a mod that I use on my phone from "Blu" that adds Google dialer, and it gets playstore updates. I did not try it on this phone yet. But I do miss the spam call block from it, maybe I will try it now.
