Hi All,
I was poking around the battery stats for my phone (both in the "About Phone" and within Spare Parts) and noticed my Up and Awake time were identical. From what I see on the partial wake meters, Calendar is the process taking it up (and is the only one with the lock the entire time).
Is anybody else experiencing this? (This is starting to remind me of the old days of the Hero and Messaging program issue) >.<
So far, I've tried resetting back to stock and I'm getting the same results.

Any thoughts? Am I just being paranoid?
I'm seeing similar things, albeit not to the extent you're seeing but my Calendar is definitely more active then I'd like. Is there any way to get this calendar under control. I've tried doing a Force Stop on all the calendar applications but something called "Calendar" is showing up high under partial wake usage. Thanks for the help.
Hi All,
I Was looking through my s2 yesterday and could not quite figure out why even after my phone being screen off and flight mode for the day while at work the Android OS was at 70% usage. So I plugged it in to the computer and started looking through the logcat and while screen off I noticed that there were entries every few seconds that link to A picture i have on my home screen
"/PhotoAppWidgetProvider(10674): MyMagazine updateSlideShow Next - appWidgetId 1
D/PictureFrame(10674): do not update widget, saved file num 1"
After deleting this picture and turning the screen off these entries stop, my usage is now 13% after 6 hours so much improved i also feel there is now a slight battery improvement too but need to wait and see to be sure. Might be way off the mark but if others have this setup and high os usage they could try and delete there photo. This issue does not appear to happen on touchwiz ui.
Sorry if this has been bought up before lol.
Nice to bring that up...Will check today as I am also facing kinda same issue...
I'd like to get some feedback from this community on what people feel works and doesn't work as far as Dev Opts and other settings they use to maximise battery life.
I don't want this to turn into a *****-fest - because I personally have been getting on average about 15h + a day as a moderate user and think this phone/OS combo is capable of more.
I'm relatively new to Android and while there are posts in other forums none of them relate to GN/ICS. There are so many settings to play with and many of them might otherwise go unexplored and unexplained to a lot of users.
A perfect example of this is something I read elsewhere earlier tonight in another rant-based thread. Someone suggested turning Developer Options> Background Process Limit to "At most, 3 processes". I gave that a try and in both instances I got a SOD (not immediately but I'm thinking it may not be sound advice after all).
Something else to consider might be stock apps which are safe to disable.
Things that are known to work or have a majority consensus will be compiled into a list in this thread.
To make things easier, try use a path to the setting you're talking about: Settings > Apps and suchlike.
Thats weird, i've been using that setting all day. I wonder if its an app you have installed thats having its process killed and not liking it. Do you get the same if you set it to 4?
I haven't found much except the obvious screen brightness and setting it to 2g instead of 3g - but that can actually be worse if you have a lot of things syncing often and a congested GPRS network.
Oh and I also have Force GPU rendering on, but i don't think that has much effect.
Good idea for a thread btw.
Thanks. I've heard so many people quote the pitfalls of early adoption (now I'm one of them) I think there may be something in the apps point you make. Narrowing it down is going to be tough I suspect.
I use the below setting on my Nexus S to get two days moderate use:
Brightness at 8% fixed
Black still image wallpaper
Bluetooth off
Gps off
Wifi at home
Always sync off
Others sync off, facebook, gplus
Yupe, that suits my usage pattern. I dont like to bebothered with emails and social network notifications. If I need them, open and update manually.
Really big boost on battery life. I expect this is the same or better with ICS.
Interesting. Good tips gogol.
Yesterday/today I managed to get 1d3h out of the phone.
Admittedly, I didn't put the phone through the punishment I usually subject it to.
I never enable BT, and also turn down the brightness on my screen to about 10%. I do leave sync on but try to limit it to necessary apps only and not app contacts.
Yesterday though, I didn't enable wifi at all (didn't need to really, was in the office all day). I made a few calls, sent a few texts and did my usual commute (about 3hours there and back) listening to music (PowerAmp) and messing around with EQ settings a fair bit.
Because I got 1d though, I got in an extra morning (1. 5hours) of music on the way to work.
So overall I'm pretty happy that I can get on average 15h as a moderate user and a ton more as a light-ish user
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I updated to the new K6 radio a few days ago and reset the process limit back to standard. I managed 1 day 3 hours with 28% left this morning. I used 2 hours 26 minutes of screen time.
For me the new radio seems to have made a massive difference. I think it has to do with it camping one band/tower for longer and not constantly switching between 3 and HSDPA when there's a data transfer.
Does anyone have troubles with watch faces that feature weather while using facer? I have tried multiple faces that change the background based on current weather and multiple times throughout the day the weather is set to a default setting and things like temp show the codes in facer. It eventually fixes itself after a few minutes or sometimes hours.
Any idea why this is happening and how to fix it? This is the current face I'm using if that makes a difference
I see the same thing. Setting the Weather update to 15 minute intervals may have helped a little but it is hard to say.
That actually seems to have helped a lot so far. I haven't noticed the issue yet today.

Is your phone rooted? No, it's not the reason, but it may help.
Prosecutor: Objection! Judge - relevance?
Me: Your Honor, I have a point.
Judge: Sustained, you may proceed.
Hi thanks for the answer yes my phone is rooted
Cannot in any way connect the root status of the phone (?) to excessive drain on the watch.
First day of using it (got it yesterday) I got about 6 hours out of my watch. I went through playing with everything yesterday already, so not that much action today, only the regular Gmail and Hangouts notifications. Top consumer, as per the OP an unnamed app. I would have expected more from my watch, to be honest. Ideas?
Oh, and got the update notification for 5.0.2 directly after turning it on and pairing, so I'm on 5.0.2 already.
Same here

Hi, i got the same issue since i updated to 5.0.2. I used to get a full heavy use day and still remain 30%40% at the end of the day, after the update i only get 11-12 hours of use. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Note: My phone is also rooted.
I'm not fully through testing/verifying the following, but I made an obervation.
I used the watch the other day and got about 18+ hours out of it. Dont know exactly, just put it on the charger and was happy still having juice left.
The following day, all was going well up until to that moment I started using a timer app on my phone, which counted down at 5 minute intervals and showed a live updating notification doing so. I didnt pay attention to the watch, as the timer is phone only, but as I checked the watch at some point for something different, I noticed the battery dropped significantly since I last checked. Upon checking the battery stats, I found that the charge started dropping at about the moment I started continuously timering.
I take from this, that when using tools which interact with or update your phones notification drawer, the watch will get somehow polled as well. But I am still investigating.
In case you wonder: its an ingress portal hack countdown timer.
Question about settings?

Do you by chance have your dev options enabled on your device that your Moto 360 is connected to? If so, I did a test on my device to see if that was a battery hog on my Moto 360 and turns out it seems to be. Un-named app (android icon) showing the most usage but the graph I have shows upon Dev options enabled, battery began to plummet badly. Just an observation. I perform testing on mobile and wearable as part of my job but I didn't have a way to analyze any logs for this wearable (moto 360). I don't have Moto's log analysis tool.
I do have dev options enabled. But as the watch is now generally behaving well, I don't think it's connected but happened to you by accident. This is only a guess though.
To be honest, I'm on xda with a couple of posts made already, of course I have dev options enabled  I use plenty of tools day in day out which need dev options. I also on a regular basis manipulate my device via adb, so dev options really is a must.
Anyway, I will observe this some more and get back to this thread in case I find any new developments.
