Did it ask for root access?
Anyone tried it on other phones?
The app is very appealing but the developer is quite unknown and has not logged in for months. Maybe he ll reappear.
If I have time I ll decompile it and look in the code

no root access, only need to activate with xposed

At a first glance, it hooks these classes:
"android.graphics.drawable.Drawable"
"android.app.Activity"
"android.view.View"
A deep analisys of the code is needed though. Also he put analytics code inside.
It's better to wait for the author to reappear and post source code and source idea (he says he took it from Qualcomm)

do you remember if it gave you more free RAM?

Has anyone tried e-mailing the dev?
If the module dev is the one above, he posted the e-mail [email protected] in his last post in xda.
I'm gonna shoot him an e-mail just in case.
I never used the app, but it most likely just unloads unneeded services or stops apps from starting up in the first place, which can be done through other means.

You prob wiped anything by now to fix it.
But if you didn't, go to TWRP file manager, go to data/data and seek for the module folder there.. and delete it.
After that go to data/app/data (if i recall right) and delete there as well.
It should work.
Wipe art cache and cache too before reboot.
If don't work, (even though should). wipe the system folder and reflash your ROM, GAPPS, Kernel or anything else you flash usually.
Try also to see if this module created a folder in the internal memory partition (sdcard0.. but not the external sdcard1) and a script in system/etc/init.d

black screen on videos after this module
i have activeted this module then rebooted the phone after couple hours i have noticed that i cant watch videos in youtube and telegram app and movies in popcorn time app could not see nothing in the video just black screen and hearing the sound i tried to remove the module and its not working after that i completly disable xposed still there is no change what should i do?? i have xiaomi redmi note 4x mido android 7.0 custom kernel rooted and miui 10 help please??

Screen off animation for HTC M9 and xposed installation

After searching high and low, i've finally found the screen off animation i wanted, this particular mod is not mine i'm just providing a find for anyone who is in the same situation.
Thanks to @zst123 for originally posting this
Requirements:
Root access
Custom recovery
Rom running android 5.0XXX
Also note functional on 5.1.XXX ROMs.
*New section for Marshmallow ROMs.
1. Go here and download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3292041&d=1430517906
or this one if you're on android 5.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3313055&d=1431639027
or this one if you're on android 6.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3631566&d=1454436795
2. Download the Alpha build xposed framework from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3200857&d=1425849071
or this one if you're on android 6.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3383776&d=1435601440
3. Reboot to recovery and install the .21 or build or the .22 build if you're on 5.1XXX or the v80 sdk23 build if you're on 6.0.XXXX then reboot *NOTE* boot can take some time, 10 minutes at times
4. Once booted, install the alpha build apk downloaded in step 2 using a file manager.
5. Open Xposed and navigate to download, search for screen off animation and download the module.
6. Navigate to modules and enable them, reboot your device.
7. Open the app and choose a screen off animation.
8. Perform a reboot, Done.
FYI, it has been known that xposed can cause bootloops on the M9 so tread carefully and back up prior to installing it.
I can confirm that this and xposed with this installation method works as expected on Leedroid, other ROM's should work but I haven't tested them.
Can also confirm that for the most part, sense 6 toolbox and XUI Mod work too, and again this is not my software.
PS: Just like to add that the screen off Vertu animation is my personal favourite, it's a classy finish to a phone that deserves it.
------------------THEMING------------------
@ineedone This is his theme.
You need to flash the theme after xposed, clearing cache and dalvic after the initial installation of Chameleon. If you don't then you can (not always) end up in a boot loop, if you didn't wipe the caches then power down and boot back to recovery.
The initial boot after wiping the caches can take a long time, 10 minutes + is not uncommon.
This can also be assumed for any other mods which affect a lot of the ROMs system files.
Confirmed with Newest Leedroid and chameleon.

Xposed and xuimod work on 5.1 too. Sense 6 toolbox let's you change number of app drawer icons but won't let you in the app itself. Gonna test gravity box now.
Tested , it loads and stuff but none of the features really work.

Aye I've used gravity before but have avoided it as I get everything I need from xui and screen off animation. I don't even use sense toolbox no more. I've read that Xposed works with 5.1 and there is a framework for it but as I haven't tested it on a HTC device I've not added it to the OP that its fully functional.
Gravity needs a big update, there have been quite a few broken bits for a while, also found gravity was always very heavy on the system too, might have just been me.

Stock as in not rooted or stock as in rooted on a stock rom, if it's the latter then it should work. That's probably the best way to use these mods. Unfortunately screen off animation as far as I know does not function as of yet. I'm away for a week now, but will be doing some testing of all the mods on my return.
Stock, rooted. Ive never had this much trouble just to get xposed.
Basically i:
1. Unlocked bl
2. Twrp
3. Backup of system image
4. Root
5. Xposed zip for arm64
6. Installed xposed apk
7. When trying to launch amplify it says xposed isn't running, even if xposed says it's active
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
That is literally what you are meant to do, some modules are functional, some aren't. For me the screen off animation didn't work and so strange as it might sound, I would miss it and as such I have retained 5.0.2, I really do not see any difference between the two, all modules work, nothing appears broken to me and the battery life is as good as I need it to be. To answer your question in short I get the same message with screen off animation, as if it's not installed. It's because it's not been updated. Either wait for it to be updated or downgrade like me
Updated op. Screen off animation working properly on 5.1, been using it for a while now.

Usually says that when either xposed isn't installed properly or the module hasn't been updated and you'll have to wait.
Follow the tutorial to install xposed, you can't miss.

Gravity box running on marshmallow 6.0.1

Changes made to gravity box, such as battery icon, long press defaults, and pretty much everything else, don't survive after a reboot. It works on the old nexus 5 running Android 6.0. Is it a problem of 6.0.1, or a problem of nexus 5x?

It's a problem of the xposed framework and is probably related to how SeLinux policy is set.
There may be a difference related to root method: standard vs. systemless.
I use standard on my N5X without GB issues mentioned.
Rovo knows about these issues but has no solution yet.

Thanks. I just checked that on the xposed forum, and people have various other issues as well on 6.0.1. Hopefully my previous small donation can give rovo an extra dose of coffee or beer, as a boost to his coding.
And I am using standard root method as well. Other modules that I used seems to be working fine. GB is working fine too, just that the changes don't survive a reboot

Then it's strange. There must be something different about our devices and the way they are set up. I haven't come across any of these issues whether on N5X or N5. My setup is:
- stock 6.0.1
- modified boot.img which allows SuperSU to work (found in Rooting guide thread in 5X forum)
- xposed framework v78
- GravityBox 6.0.2 (the only module I have installed)
I am on stock 6.0.1, and I guess the same modified boot image
SuperSU 2.5.2
Xposed framework v78 sdk23 64 bit
Gravity box 6.0.2
I have tried a few times, and I can confirm that all the changes I made disappear after a reboot.

I am not sure but I guess it may be more difficult to solve this problem when it is not reproducible using the exact same setup?

Thanks for info. Now to only know what causes different permission sets.
Did you do something like "fix permissions" via recovery in the past?
Anyway, I'll try to think about checking and adjusting permissions of this folder at startup.
Although, it might be a little too late since access is necessary far earlier before device is fully booted but at least it would fix the permissions for the next reboot.

No, I didn't click fix permissions in recovery, although, as I now remember, installing xposed wasn't that smooth. After installation, I got some error messages saying some services is forced to stop, and I needed several reboots, and the system needed to optimise apps each time before the phone is boot up normally at the end

Android q beta 2

Anyone running Android Q beta 2 ? Can you make a comparison to Pie in terms of speed or apps that crash or hang? TIA
I have no apps crashing and no apps unable to start. Performance and battery are identical to Pie.
The Android Q is definitely a daily driver for me.
EDIT: The only single issue I have is that double-tap or lift to wake are not working.

How best to backout of the AndroidQ beta2?
Installed but Android Auto is playing up so want to go back to v8
Can't mount system partition R/W on Marlin using TWRP 3.2.3-1 once updated to AQB2 (although I did a dirty update by removing the -w erase flag from the bat file before executing.) Guess I'll try nuking everything and rebuilding from scratch to see if the partitions will mount R/W to install Magisk...

As you can see in this screenshot, it's working just fine. You have to install the latest Magisk canary build. TWRP won't work to do some backups, but you can flash it fine.
Been running Q2 for a few days and is a great daily driver. As soon as Nova paid was installed I have no complaints
and battery life has been excellent. Coming from the Essential phone rooted this has been a pleasant surprise. For 180.00 new
unlocked on Sprint this is a good deal. I also prefer the 16x9 screen and camera.
So, I have some weirdness going on…
I screwed up and tried to install the last P build after getting the ota beta Q update….i had issues (possibly of my own making).
Realized that trying to go back wasn’t going to work so I thought I would just reinstall the Q beta version 2, I downloaded it…all seemed well until I wanted to get to “settings”
I can pull the “curtain’ down and see a few quick access icons (wifi, Bluetooth, airplane mode…) but it won’t pull farther down (second swipe) to see other options and the “settings” gear at the top. I also don’t seem to be getting notifications, I hear them but don’t see an icon.
I also can’t get to the setting that allow me to transfer files.
Any ideas?
Edit: also can't get to my app drawer...
Edit 2: home button doesn't work either...
I got it, it must have been a bad "dirty flash", did a clean install, and all is working as expected...except,
I've got root but can't see my internal storage with ES file explorer (I can see it when using my PC) (or any other root explorer) and can't edit my build.prop (can't save it)

Wasn't talking about hotspot specifically.... The issue with Chrome is still there, still not able to download anything, as it pops up that it needs permission, I hit continue...and nothing. It normally gives the permission request notification here, but it does not.

Right, I don't think I've tried to download anything with chrome, I want the permissions so I can edit the buildprop file.
Having just checked, I also cannot download anything using chrome, Opera doesn't seem to have a problem, though. I didn't check any other browsers

After clean flash, still having the same issue with the downloads. Going to Solidexplorer shows that the sdcard partition never created a Download folder. Chrome also is completely not working now, so definitely rolling back until it's resolved.

Viper 4 Q working no bootloop

So I've managed after hours of messing around to get viper to work. Endless bootloops to download mode.
I don't know if it was me not knowing how to install it or if it is just still a bit buggy on 10 but either way. I managed to get it installed working and some what simple.
None of this is official. And must be followed exact.......
This was done on my g9650 I don't know for US rooted snaps. Or Exynos. If those try at your own lesure
Always make a backup beforehand. If you do manage a bootloop restore your data and should be good.
First install audio modification library from magisk. Do not reboot yet...
Second we need to install the viper 4 Android apk from here
https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx
Do not install the driver. If you do you will be in a bootloop to download mode. So ye be warned.....
Back out of installing the driver. And go into settings mark for compatibility mode and attach audio effects to on.
Next download the rootlesss viper install here...
https://zackptg5.com/downloads/v4afx-rootless_03.17.2020.zip
Only place I found it. If some one knows a more legit place feel free to drop a link.
But now Install this from twrp and reboot. You should be good to go

It is through twrp - mounting system - advanced. and file manager.
These are some that I delete, and I don't break down the system in this way.
root / system / priv-app / excel_samsungstub / remove
root / system / app / flipboardbrifing / remove
root / system / app / gmail2 / remove
The applications are still mounted on the system partition.
At the moment, removing apps from an apk causes damage to the system. forcing to load in odin.

I confirm that in this way you can delete apps without spoiling the system.
is to see the location with likns2sd
Point the location.
* enters recovery mode
* mount partition system
*advanced
* file explorer
and search within the system folder for locations and delete
example
google drive
crome
Youtube
excel
etc
So when I install audio libray and back out of driver install this is what happens ......
I can't click the setting gear. It's shaded out and can only click on the driver one beside it.
How do I enable the setttings gear to open it?
Hopefully it's something easy.
On my galaxy s9 snapdragon
Works on note 10

Themes / Apps / Mods Debloater

physwizz Debloater v2 Mediatek
With physwizz-2 app
OneUI 2.0 or 3.1
I'm using a very unusual method.
I replace the apps with a blank apk file.
Installation
Backup system
Install from TWRP
If you find you want to get one of the apps back just restore the system backup
Then use zarchiver to remove the apk from my Debloater.
Then reinstall it.
@physwizz
Magisk-module for debloating
physwizz debloat module v2
(Added a70 changes)
With physwizz-2 app
Magisk module to debloat any Samsung phone to remove all the apps that slow down the phone
To debloat:
Install the module from Magisk and reboot.
To rebloat:
delete the module in Magisk and reboot
@physwizz
You don't need even root to debloat. It can be done by running an elevated command and disabling the applications.
I've been using Package Disabler for years.
Very valuable for troubleshooting. It can also completely clear system app data that you can't normally completely delete in app settings.

Yes.
This can be done quite easily but it can be a long and difficult process for less experienced users.
Firstly you need to make a list of which apps can be safely deleted (I found 72)
Then spend an hour or more deleting them manually.

The problem with doing that is there are some apps you'll want to be able to toggle on/off easily on the fly.
Most don't even know exactly what all they're disabling... what could go wrong?

Yeah.
Most of the apps I delete are hidden system apps that are not needed at all.
They're not in the apps drawer so I wouldn't be turning then on and off.

A sample of some of mine. Some are worthless, some just resting.
This app also allows direct internet searches for the app in question. I play around here when bored sometimes.
Disabled the wrong package and a boot loop could be the reward. There's a couple apps I never touch.
Lol, little Bixby is the first to go
