I have bought a 2nd hand Mediapad M2 801w but it turns out it has been rooted so I cannot upgrade from lollipop to marshmallow. I don't know what was used to root the phone so I'm not sure if it can be unrooted. Is there any way to get it back to stock?

Hi, so I while back I rooted my AT&T LG G3 (d850) and decided to unroot so I could get the lollipop update whenever that was going to be released. I completely reset it back to it's stock firmware and everything. After so many months of waiting for lollipop, I got fed up with it and decided I would try flashing a lollipop rom, but when I tried to root my phone with towel root and stump root, both of them said my device wasn't supported. Could anyone tell me why this might be? I was all ready to go, but for some reason I can't re-root even though it's basically a brand new phone.

You can't root lollipop as of yet. The only way to root is to downgrade to Kitkat.

Try purpledrake, that should work if you haven't taken any otas. If that doesn't work you will have to do as mentioned and flash previous software with the flashtool.
Thank you to everyone that helped! I figured out my problem. AT&T rolled out an OTA update which changed my build number from 10d to 10f. I just downgraded my firmware and was able to root. I'm successfully running CM12 now!
So, I want to root my LG G3 so that I can install Cyanogenmod 12 on it. But the rooting methods online don't seem to work. My phone is running official Android Lollipop (5.0). It was a OTA update. Is it because I updated over the air that I'm not able to root it or something else? Please help me. Thanks.

You really need to search the forum before posting, theres been loads of threads about this, there is no root method currently for lollipop on the lg g3, you have to downgrade to kitkat using one if the firmware files, root kitkat with available methods, install custom recovery and then flash whichever rom you would like.
i wanna to root and update my watch ( i just got it) and its on kkw60c 4.4w.1 .
I was planing to use the windroid tool to unlock, and root.
My question is, should i let the watch autoupdate to the "latest" then root? or vise-versa?
any help is welcome... thanks
I just went though this, and I updated first. It took me to 5.1.1 then flashed <new_boot.img> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61002165&postcount=43 to get TWRP. Then install < Wear-SuperSU> for root.
hope this helps

Hi,
I've recently decided to root my lg g3 but all methods I found on xda didn't work (king/kingoroot, towelroot, purpledrake, etc.).
My phone model is d855 running android marshmallow update v30b-260-06.
Also i'd like to install custom rom with nougat with good battery life and stability(and root of course).
I know how to flash roms but i can't root my device to install twrp.
Ask if you need any further information about my phone.
Same here i changed my phone motherboad here in. India now kingroot 4.5.6 not rooting this board.
So first i downgrade to kitkate than root easily
U can try it too.

Hello,
For start,I'am new here so i apolegize if i put this thread on wrong place .
I'am using lg g3,andorid version 6.0,but the problem is that i can not find root method for version V30o.
Is there a way to root this version, and if so,how?
Thanks.
People here first downgrade to 30b, root by kingroot and then install "bumped" higher version for example 30n which cannot be rooted also.
In short you need to downgrade if you want to get root.
