Car Charger Issues

anyone else experiencing a problem with car chargers? my phone charges fine off of wall and usb charging but as soon as i plug in my car charger is lights up, 2 secs later light goes off and after that it just keeps doing it with wall and usb. i have to reboot my phone and/or pull my batter out......anyone have a solution for this?
The car charger probably can't supply enough amps or it is under/over volts causing the charge circuit to freak out.
Also noticed this behavior if phone is too hot. Refuses to charge with flashing orange light until temperature falls below a certain threshold... Seems to be around 100 degrees.

Bump!
Noticed this twice in the last couple of weeks. My wall chargers (supplied, aftermarket, Zune, etc) all work fine, as does charging from any USB port.
Car charger, on the other hand, both a Sprint/HTC aftermarket and a Walmart special, seem to have some troubles.
The EVO registers as charging, shows the charging icon, and admits to charging (AC). However, the charge never increases, and using the phone will actually decrease the charge. Left plugged in, the phone will totally discharge and automatically power off. All while the amber charging light is solidly on.
EVO: Rooted stock 2.2 with netarchy's latest BFS kernel.
Car: 2008 Nissan Maxima. Voltage fairly steady on the 12v receptacles.
What gives!
Have you tried car charging it on different kernels?
Could it be that the car doesn't provide clean, consistant power? With usb, power goes through a vreg circuit (the psu, the mobo), on a wall charger, there is a vreg circuit within the adapter that would compensate for fluctuations in AC voltage.
If I'm not mistaken, the car-to-usb adaptors are little more than a resistor circuit to cut the voltage down. The 12V provided by a car will always fluctuate, so maybe the simple resistor circuit doesn't provide adequate compensation.

[Q] [ION and possibly others] Phone loosing charge while charging via car charger

Hi,
I use my Xperia Ion (running rooted stock JB) as a navigation and dashcam unit. So naturally I want it plugged in while I have it in my car. However I have noticed a slight "bug". The way I understand how the charging works is that the phone will charge at full power (1-1.2A) until a certain point (% of battery) and then go into trickle charge mode (300 to 600mA). When using my phone the following function are in use:
Bluetooth
LCD
GPS
Camera
Wi-Fi/mobile data
Phone
This will all need power. And while the phone does seem to charge in the car if the battery is low (>50%), it will stop at 70ish %. Depending on the charger I use it will stay at 70% or start draining again. With some chargers the phone only drains power and will never charge unless I keep power use to a minimum. I.e. not use it.
I have tried many power sources. These include:
Motorola dual port charger (for Motorola Atrix car dock)
Quality brand universal USB charger
Sony Xperia charger
Laboratory power supply with different configurations on the USB data pins
(shorting D+ and D-, voltage divider 2.1V on both pins, 2.5V on one and 2.1V on the other pin) the last config offered fast charge (1A)
The Phone does not seem to be smart enough to know that it needs more power and should therefore not enter slow charging mode if the power drain is higher that the power input. I have measured the current while the phone is charging and have determined that the phone indeed does charge with high current in the beginning but then lowers the current as the battery voltage increases.
My Question is then as follows:
Do other people suffer the same problem with their phone when trying to use it a lot while charging with a car charger like me? Does the phone also discharge while "charging" with a car charger? Does the phone only charge to the certain point and then stay there or even discharge again?
And the most important question:
Is there a way to make the phone stay in full fast charge mode?

I had the same problem, I changed from Stock JB to Rogers Slim JB and calibrate the battery with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=es
It helps somehow, but battery sometimes using the phone to much on car charger loses charge.

BEWARE: Qi Wireless Power Pad Charger For Smart Phones

http://www.ebay.es/itm/271346218746...eName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I bought this item and IT WONT WORK properly with Nexus 5 Phones.
To sumarize:
- It's behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it charges the phone, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it charges for a few minutes then it stops with no apparent reason. Sometimes the green light (means the device is charging) is still lit but the device is not charging anymore...
- if you try to charge the phone overnight you can wake up with a bad surprise (as I did) and the phone powered off because it stoped charging.
- During night, I use gentle alarm and it keeps my screen on (dark, just showing the time). It seems this QI charger is not even able to deal with it because it stops charguing the phone after a few minutes. If you pick the phone ant put it in the QI charger surface it will start charging again but, once again, it will stop somewhere later. USELESS!
- It is not able to hold the phone. Not at all. I thougt my phone would stick to the charger but it wont (maybe this charger can hold lighter phones, but not the N5). The only way I could make it tho hold my phone was keeping the protection plastic film that came with the charger (and is suposed to be removed and thrown away) as it seems to increase the adherence between the charger and the phone.
In short: I'm disappointed and have to advice you all not to buy it.

What are you using to power your Qi charger? From the sounds of it turning on and off and having sporadic performance, it seems like it is not being given enough juice. Are you just plugging the Qi charger/included cable into a PC USB port or something?
The best way to make sure a Qi charger works properly is to plug it into a wall outlet using an AC adapter/cable that provides equal, or more current than the required input. Your Qi charger says Input DC 5V 1.5A. So you should have an AC adapter that provides that, as well as a USB cable that supports high speed charging (like the stock Nexus 5 cable).
Have you tried using the stock Nexus 5 AC adapter and stock Nexus 5 USB cable? Most included USB cables that ship with Qi chargers are quite crap. I know that the stock Nexus 5 AC adapter is 1.2A, but it is still a good block and should power your Qi charger well enough until you get a higher output AC adapter. If you haven't, try testing your Qi charger using that block and cable and see if there is an improvement.
Yes, I tried all that. I used several ac adapters, including N5 charger and 2 Samsung adapters

I guess if that's the case then try contacting the seller and asking for a refund or replacement. You probably got a lemon.
Tell them it doesn't perform properly or show them with pictures and/or video of the slow charging/disconnects.

some ebay sellers are so dodgy i try to stick to amazon and purchase items with "known" customer reviews...

Wireless Charging Glitchy

I have my ls990 on BarePop, which is the only option that I know of that has a working NFC. I'm all set up for wireless charging with the wireless sticker on the inside of my cover and if course the wireless charger.
When I set it on the circle, it starts to charge, gives me the warning that charging is slower than plugging in, shows charging for another 3 or 4 seconds, and then stops charging. This has been an issue since I hooked myself up. The charging drops after about 15 seconds.
I wonder if it's a shoddy sticker (which looks to be correctly placed) or a funky charger (Ankor from Amazon). Has anyone experienced this symptom or know what the problem could be?

Did you use a power adapter that is rated 1.5A or above? I used my old Nexus 5 charger (rated 1.3A) and my Qi charging is cutting on and off. Once I changed back to the original G3 charger, the Qi charging is stable.
That might be a really good call! I thought it was a good charger by a trusted manufacturer, but I checked and it's only a 1 amp output Anker. Makes sense, especially if you had similar symptoms with a low amp device.
Thanks for responding!

T310 Wont Power On - Fixes dont seem to fix but it is drawing power

As above really its not my tab so i know nothing apart from it stopped charging. USB port was damaged so i replaced the port and battery with genuine samsung.
I have a Choetech micro usb lead that displays current Amps and Voltage. When plugged in its at 5.06v 0.00a. When i hold the power button the voltage goes to 4.97v and 0.16a so its drawing power just wont turn on!
