Dear LG !!! - LG K10 Questions & Answers

Hey everyone, I was looking for a way to root my lg-k430dsy "on YouTube, on XDA, everywhere on the web" then i noticed something "The majority of these phones get bricked & owners are not able to recover it"
Fore me that wasn't something new because one of my friend used too have an lg device & when he tried to play it his phone died & turned into a junk" He tried evreything but that seems impossible to get it to live again.
Why LG? Why not others?
This take us to a statement where LGE make it nearly impossible to us as advanced users to use there product.
They put alot of restrictions in something that "Google" the owner of this OS don't do.
Where is the point of buying a cool phone with stupid rules.
Hope LGE understand us as customers not just a bunch of people who just buy phones to do install or do some crap.
Dear LG!!! Learn from OnePlus.
"Sorry for my english"

Phones get bricked because there isn't appropriate way to root them, and than you screw something up. I don't protect LG they give more effort into protecting phones from being rooted or to use custom recovery than in developing OS...

IMEI CHECK.CO.UK i think i got em uncovered

hello lads, wish everybody is fine and doin well, ive been doing some intelligence and detective work around around the weired fact that IMEI check are the only guyz around with an unlock solution for the UNIVERSAL.
what i accumilated was kindda weired. according to information gathered from this website and specially from my favourite two super stars (BUZZ lightyear and Mchinegod) those legendary stars got it all fine lolll.
what i found is.
IMEI check has some source in HTC inovations in taiwan.
this source has probably supplied em classified Hardware Software information on how to unlock the Universal.
second speculation is that they also has a source that has unrestricted acess to the IMEI-Unlock code database. and he supplies them the assigned codes for some percentage from every unlock they make.
in both cases there is an insider who must ve supplied critical info on raming this device into the corners.
just for the info, i mentioned before that i had a weired problem and that is i wanted to unlock my MDA pro and T-mobile the netherlands told me that my IMEI doesnt exist in thier database or its not a T-mobile universal varient. however i managed my way in contacting someone in HTC and my honest source tracked my IMEI back to T-mobile the netherlands, i offered this source paying him money to gimme the unlock code but he refused in great honesty and said, the entire HTC cant supply me these codes not for free not for a fee, acoording to a business agreement with the T-Mobile. after a while, i got an email from T-Mobile telling me that they have my Unlock code right now and they are ready to supply me the code for like 70 euros or something,,
that shows that there are some leaks around between HTC and its business partners and, our freiends at IMEI check, has foudn some way to access these leaks and make some money.
wish i explained my theory
best regards
shady
why dont they offer then an online unlock... you send them imei number and money... they send you unlock code....
there is an other way they do it
€70 is much less than I was first asked for to have an Unlock code. It was more like €175, and that was for a little Samsung phone before T-Mobile took over One2One.
After you've been using the device for 1 year, your first year contract is finished. After this first year contract, the Universal belongs to you - NOT T-Mobile - and you are therefore legally entitled to do anything you want to with it, including unlocking it. T-Mobile CANNOT legally deny you this right - if they could, the central IMEI databases which disallow network access from stolen devices would simply disallow access to other networks from your IMEI.
thas exactly the point
asking for physical acess to the machine while still sayint that they will not open it and hat all stuff will be made through cable. sooo i think this provides perfect diversion.
Yeah, I think I said in an earlier post that the whole thing about 'sending your Universal in because physical access is required' is a load of bullcrap. It's as shady said, they have an insider at HTC which really makes me question the ethics of their dealings in the first place. I don't think I like these guys very much.
I think you forgot something US (imei-check):
We killed JFK, we are green and we come from Mars. Somewhere on other forum I saw that someone says that we like to collect the MDA PRO's. Yes we love to swim in them . We are aliens and we like that.
These declarations are as true as your conspiracy theory.
WE HAVE NO connection with HTC or any other manufacture or operator. We are just a bunch of programmers which like to work till late not to stay and see if anyone comes with anything for free for us.
This forum should be called Warez and freeware searchers since here all you can read is where to download such software and were to get such thing for free. Only a handful of people from here does developing, rest just a bunch of beggars (sorry for the previos spelling mistake, but hey I'm not a native speaker ).

I resent your comments regarding the rest of us no-hopers being 'baggers'.
If it wasn't for forums like this you guys wouldn't have any business cos the vast majority of us would have returned our pda phones due to lack of network support.
I have no qualms paying for unlocking but the networks take the mick by making you wait weeks for the unlock codes.
I dare say you guys have learnt from this forum and if you didnt charge 50 squid for a universal unlock code you would get more respect.
We all have a part to play mate so just remember this:
Without consumers(or baggers as you like to call us) you would have to latch onto somting else so give us a break !!!
i vote with jonboy. if u dont respect this forum why are you on it,,, i have no idea actually + if you think my claims are wrong, there is no need to insult all of us, my friend the way you answered is a hard proof that at least some of my claims have taken a byte at the neck of the truth.
anyway thanks for calling us baggers, but again as jonboy says, these baggers are the guyz making business for you and giving you money. so i wont call em baggers cuz if its not for them you would ve been a bagger.
you IMEI guyz are asking for astaggering 74 E to unlock well i have to mention that T-mobile unlocked my MDA pro for 70 euros which is still 4euros less than what you asked + i dotn have to send it all the way to another country or stuff.
again thanks dear brother for insulting the forum and its people.
best regards

Are you really who you say you are? If you are, you must be about ten years old because that statement is so immature, not fit for a grown mature adult.
BTW, where are all the warez on this site? I haven't seen any, or am I just blind, naive or both? We all visit this forum so that we can "hack" some the system parameters of our devices to enhance them and give them "personalities" we like or prefer to have.
actually, i think this florin is just a very erogant man, i still am feeling offended that he called us beggers. do everybody really has to be a developer. well mr wiered headless brainless, when u go to a Dr to take out the permenant disease out of your head do u become a begger, when you go to psyciatrist to take the wiered erogance of your soul do u become a begger, so if you think that when u go to a pro that well help you get rid of all of these wiered stuff in your miniature nature that will make you a bagger, then we might also be considered bagger. and by the way plz when u speak to people again try to get first some schooling second learn some ethics
again lads, just think deeply if our ideas on this forum about how IMEI check got thier hands on the unlocking codes are wrong, what would piss thier boss off, hehehe if someone said soemthing thas not right about me i wouldnt really start a fight on someones wrong calims, but if he uncovered my business then ill fight to recover it back, even by insulting people heheh

you lost me here - why you are so sure you are right just because someone responded to you? No offence, but what you said is questionable in the first place... and i simply cannot understand what has the pricing got to do with this? it can be 100 euros - so what?? WHY are you so unhappy?
and generally he was right, most people do not produce anything new for the device, the max we do is copy-paste. Its the truth - why are you complaining - what have you done?
btw, i have got nothing to do with them, never used the service and do not know anyone there in any way... so that you will not say i am from their company too, just because i have a different opinion to yours. And it will not prove that you are 100% right - i hope this is clear at least.
im sorry guyz, i aint no dectaort here and ieve never said im right i just speculated some stuff, and to be honest as i said, i have no proof, its just speculation, and im not complaining about the price the market is open, u dont like someones service, take another. and i have no offense against anybody as well i havent attacked him, it was just someone that began attacking all the forum not me only. and again, im not so sure and im not running an invistigation here buddy, and im usually dotn speak so much here in the forum, but i just dotn wanna get kicked whenever im gonna say soemthing someone is gonan call me a bagger. and yes not everybody is doign something cuz so simply not everybody is a developer, does the fact that im in another field rather than IT or software development must make me shut up and not even talk.
well guyz im sorry anyway if i attacked any body or offended anyone without intentions
again im sorry for that

well said that man
The rest of you n00b-muppets need to shut the hell up. I've known Florin for quite some time now and back in the early days he was of great help to the Windows Mobile community and still is today. To be quite honest, he's right, the majority of you are all beggers. You all want something for nothing. Why should someone break their back to make YOU happy? What have YOU done for the community? Why should anyone spend their precious time helping YOU when all YOU do is leech information?
You want the "truth" behind imei-check? They spend alot of time working on devices to get them unlocked. Sometimes they kill the devices. Said devices cost money. Then when all the hard work is over and they start to earn a reward from their work, some jumped up little prick decides to reverse engineer the software and sell it on ebay. Thats why you have to send Universal's in to them.
I would like to react to this
that shows that there are some leaks around between HTC and its business partners and, our freiends at IMEI check, has foudn some way to access these leaks and make some money.
And please do not take this like "racism" or anything else.
HTC is a Taiwanese Company POINT ! In Taiwan China Korea (Much difficult in Japan) Money is the most important thing ! I was living Before in HK, and has often be oblige to deal with the mainland but the things is that Money can buy anything over there or allow you a lot of things. I had last year a "Weird" problem with a Taiwanese PC, Pocket PC, smartphone manufacturer. Well I was dealing for a potential of 300 Units (PC) and things were going well at the begning until... they bypass me and contacted my client to make business with them.
This is how things work there and will always work.
If you take for example Korea... nobody follow any contract, in Fact in business matter it works like this, you firs sign the contract, and then you discuss about the term of the contract. If for example you want to "punish" a Korean company you just has to force them to follow a contract (this is the worst punition for them)
Once again, there are no racism in my story I am living in Asia since a long time now, my wife is Korean/Japanese and I had the chance to live, before I met my wife, with a Chinese lady (Be quiet on this one ok )
Absolute bollocks
Did you even read the rest of the posts here or did you just read the first one and reply straight away?
How exactly does this show that there are leaks? Where's your proof? One dumbass hatches a theory and you take it as gospel

Just share experience, that all
hey guyz, again ive said there is no proof these are just speculations, and again im not a damn developer, as far as i remeber ihavent insulted anyone, would you plz choose a better language describing the people on this forum,, if you think that we are all beggars, fine dont be around us, but plz just stop this insulting. and why are my words so painfull, i just said what i though nothing more. specially that in various threads in this forum, some guyz managed to get the codes from HTC so im not totally inventing a story, i think prooving me wrong would be much easier that saying all of this, jesus why is insulting so easy
florin_m
A year ago i unlocked more than 20 phones (s100 and 9090) with imei-check's help so don't say we all beggars here.
Would there be an online service soon to unlock the MDA-PRO? Because sending your MDA to England isn't accepltable for everyone and i really need to use the service quite often.
@florin_m
hi florin,
i seriously doubt, that you've programmed an unlocker for Universal, just few days after it was released to the market.
Either you have/had:
1. engineering prototypes with certain bootloader functions opened
2. access to special service SD cards
3. bootloader passwords
4. access to IMEI/lock database
i'd say 2. or 4. is right
BTW, why do you call your company IMEI-CHECK?
Wouldn't it be more apropriate to call it unlock-programming ?
IMEI-CHECK is invoking a vision of checking IMEI against a list or such...

Could you please add a forum section with LG KS20?
Many Thanks!

The Siemens was made by HTC (same as some HP devices, and the X1) so it has very similar IPL/SPL code.
The Atom was because there was some confusion over who was making it, but, that is the exception, not the rule.
With all the respect I have for "xda" developers community, what's the purpose of refusing a new forum section based on the brand when you're a forum that grew up enough to become a reference in ppc developement ? Sentences like "Is it HTC? No? Then I don't see that happening." are either trolling (if that's the case, well done ), or belong to another time in another place. To me it sounds a little like "hey you lg niggas, we accept you in our htc bus, but just stand in the back".
I thought we were here to share knowledge to serve the whole ppc community. If I was an admin, I would consider making sections when enough requests (but, I'm not admin and moreover, may be there are not enough now, I can't say) (well, to be honest, I pretty agree that there's not so much ks20 threads).
What I know is that ks20 hardware is pretty similar to kaiser's one (up to the point that older versions of kaiser's android booted on ks20), that with a lot of work we finally managed to build tools to extract rom files (I don't speak about batch files, but something similar to nbinfo/nbsplit/nbmerge), that enabled us to build a kitchen, for a part thanks to xda community, and that it would serve ks20 community for more simplicity to regroup them.
If you think that there's not enough demand to do it, I've got absolutely no problem with that and I totally understand it, but please don't use htc arguments or else you'll see that one day, the brand-segregated minority will revolt, compose a call pointing their phone towards htc users and turn them all out into pop-corn

No I'm not a Troll, I moved out from under my bridge long ago.
I'm reiterating what I've seen spoken by the mod numerous times.
The simple fact is not that we hate or a "phonecist" towards LG. Its a matter of Drawing a line in the sand to help with Administration, Server Load and Bandwidth Usage Issues.
If we start adding none HTC phones, we will have a harder time keeping the noobs calm and the spammers away. It will require and even bigger server with even more bandwidth and that cost more money.
We all know the founders really aren't making money of this venture so since its their bank accounts that have to cover the costs if Donation, Store and Ad revenue don't. So they can say only HTC device if they please.
So don't play the "race card." You look silly. If The founders don't want to add non HTC devices they don't have to, and any amount of wishing and asking and complaining will not change that.
But I bet you could find/make a place like XDA for LG or Samsung.
I totally understand your point and don't blame the admins, they do what they want with their forums. It's just that when you start adding exceptions, you open a breach and then it's difficult to explain why you do this and not that.
I hope my post was not taken seriously (I think I've put enough smileys to show it was not written that way).
As to make/join another forum, problem here with ks20 is that it's the only Windows Mobile device from lg, so in a way, we're far closer to xda community than classic lg mobile community. After all, we're just lost orphans begging for a place in this world

Right Which is why they don't allow any exceptions.
I wasn't singling you out, just posting same reasons why you won't see LG devices here soon, or Samsung for that matter.
Well what you could do is, call HTC and LG and have one "acquire" the other, then all would be happy because the admins could make a LG KS20 forum.
I don't think it's just that it's LG.
The T-Mobile Shadow is HTC though they still won't make us a forum.

Actually...Never mind it's there, but not under smartphones, it's under the PPC with 3 sections. that's why i never saw it.
I've got a KS20 as well.
LG has released their 2nd Windows Mobile based device, the Prada II.
Hopefully if they keep going we'll get an LG forum up and running soon!
yeah there will never be a lg forum, this site is htc only. so there will nenver be any non htc devices here
when i got my omnia i asked and they said no, and eventually accepted that. i then wen on to create my own forum similar to this one but it will include all windows moblie devices
its in my signature below. there is already a lg ks20 forum with unlocking details and a few roms for it in the roms section
ill look forward to seeing you there

A forum starts with one person who is enthusiastic about their phone. How do you think this forum got started? Twenty thousand people all got together and decided to make a forum that grew into 2 million ? No it started with I'm sure, one enterprising knowledgeable person and a garage server.
Short version ? Servers are cheap, bandwidth comes from donations, if you think that there are so many interested people, then have at it. I don't think that trying to ( bully ? ) your way into an avowed HTC forum is the way. Others have done it themselves.
http://www.lg-vu.com/
http://www.mygreatphone.com/forum/lg-forum/
And many more for LG phones.Just look for them. It is the enthusiasm of the people that make a great forum, not hijacking an already great forum for your own personal use
Those forms are not as well populated as the Chinese LG forum (www.52lg.com). Main disadvantage of it is that the released roms are all in Chinese.
Ok...With all that said...who wants to put together an LG PPC forum?

Innovators, Visionaries ,Thank You!

I mean most sites are riddled with fan boies making snide comments, but not here , because in hear you have "visionaries" these are the people who are called "makers" , "dont ever tell me that this thing cant be broken "
I look all around in here and members see an Android or Win Phone or any device as something that took skill to make and even more skill to break (i use that term loosley) , nothing is broke, its actually given new life!
I have a Win Phone 7 Samsung Focus, had a Blackberry 9000 Bold and iphone 3g before that , I had a chinese Eizo smartphone touchscreen a year before apples iphone and it had all the bells and whistles what intrigued me the most was how open the phone was, everything was accessable, hackable to anyone who wanted to mess with it , newer phones especially phones made for the American market are given hidden functions and its up to the great people of this forum (and others) to find and unlock these features !
I get frustrated all the time because I hate having to go back to the beginning , most of you know what I mean , for those that dont , try it sometime, in other words while forging into the unknown on your new phone test something in the diagnostics of the phone; anything , it might be a useful discovery to post to the community , it might not be, the really cool thing is that through discovery good or bad is great for all of us , because thats how we learn , trust me , when someone tells me "dont" use *#367'# (not real) or whatever ,I wont do it (if they reasoned why) otherwise I will try it out , like I said earlier I dont really like starting fresh , but only because it takes time to get back to where you were!
Any way to all you Innovators , Visionaries I salute you ! I will learn from you as well!

Hacking WP7 - any REAL beginner guides?

Hi
I'm pretty sure this hasn't been covered off already - well - not to the level of detail I need anyway.
I came to the xda forums after a friend of mine suggested that there were hacks available.
It's clear that 'something' is available, but what I am not finding is:
A) A SIMPLE guide that shows us people totally new to phone 'hacking' how to do it, from start to finish, with minimal lingo and acronyms.
B) An clear and simple explanation on the different 'hacking' options available
C) The reason you would want to do it? From what I can see, the only benefit seems to be a few pointless homebrew apps that you can download - and for the risk involved...why would you chance it?
Don't get me wrong, tinkering in itself is the reason you would want to do it - it's fun - but I can't help thinking that the WP7 side of 'hacking' doesn't offer much reward.
Would really appreciate any advice/help/links with my questions.
Thanks
Did not know whether to bother answering or not but okay. First welcome to XDA, uhhh in easy laymens terms hacking is not for the inexperienced and it is not totally idiot proof so you should have some fair knowledge of the systems and what they do. Don't hack if you need a kindergarten book to explain it all out for ya simple as that. WP is closer too iOS than Android main point being it is the most secure as far as I personally care of the 3, and the system is just as smooth and fluid as iOS. No there are not alot of Homebrew available at the moment, but if you happen to have a phone able to be fully unlocked then you have the option to use many functions that were not available before.
Device specific is where you should such that search block is your best friend, nobody here is going to write a full guide to the whole forum section for every single new hack and crack that comes out. If you want to you are more than welcome.
Thanks pal
I'm ok with the concepts of hacking, just not specifically this OS.
I'm technically minded and do a lot of similar stuff elsewhere, but when it comes to the phone that I use daily, and comntracted for another 12 months with and have no experience with tinkering WP7 - Im slightly more nervous.
I guess my main issue was the d&h forum for WP7. Every sticky/thread is far too long and they all contain a lot of acryonyms that a new WP7 hacker wouldn't understand. So my forum instinct is to look for the sticky that says "start here - everything explained" - but there isn't one?!
It's almost like "where do people start if there is no starting point"?
As far as covering a good amount of info, this post is a good one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299134
Don't really think there is a way to avoid all the jargon though, if there is something that isn't explained well it should be simple to find information to fill in the gaps. The terms used are very specific to the environment, so anything returned in a search would probably be relevant.
The most common homebrew option is Interop Unlock, Samsung models of phone are the easiest to unlock. This allows you to use native code that has not been wrapped in a tidy c# class.
The benefit of all this is that your phone is a full fledged computer that by default is locked down like an appliance. Developing additional homebrew apps allow you to get further phone customization out of your device, and therefore the most value out of your purchase.
I for myself thought about unlocking my device considering the risks involve. but I weighed the consequences. Thus, I end up now, having a fully unlocked HTC 7 Mozart with a custom rom. I am happier with my device now, I can do BT transfers, explore the folders within my device, install more applications than the usual apps/games from the marketplace, and tweak my device. One more thing, when my device was still running on stock rom, battery life is shorter, now I have 1.5x the battery life.
MY CONCLUSION: unlock your device's potential
as for the guides, yes it is not really like spoon feeding, but contents of the guides/tutorials are somehow progressive. one can learn from them, so that on the next development, we can do the "hacking" easier since we understood how the process goes. This is why it is called development. Cheers!
before i can give you advice on what hack that you can use, what is the name your device that way there are more specific hacks that we can talk about.
Hi
Thanks for the helpful replies.
I have a HTC Trophy. I'm doing the SD card upgrade next week to start with, so I can finally put all my music on it, so thought i'd look at hacking it at the same time.
Cheers

Looks like a good guide but how am I meant to know if I have a first or second gen phone....there's no definitive list?! And I can't remember what updates I have.
This is a nightmare - I'll give it a miss
check your processor, as far as i know, if your phone has 1.5GHz then it's a gen2, otherwise, it's just gen1
Let me at least give the "legitimate" talk about unlocking your phone:
For $99/year, sign up for a developers account with Microsoft (create.msdn.com). You can unlock up to 3 separate devices officially for app development. Then you can build and deploy all kinds of .xaps to your phone. To top it off, you can get the betas and early OS upgrades (had Mango almost 6 months before my friend got it from his vendor). Ultimately, you can even release your own apps to the marketplace for sale or for free.
sounds like, since this is a phone you use every day, this might be an investment worth considering. Its an easy and legitimate way for someone not too experienced with the phone's innards to get it unlocked and get exposed to how things work. Plus if you back up your phone vefore you unlock it, and something goes wrong, you haven't done anything thats voided a warranty. If the OS crashes, try returning to the "pre-unlocked" backup and bring it back to the store saying it crashed. They'll replace it. Nice deal, considering most Windows phones run around $500 to replace.
Now as for unlocking it via other means: maybe you dont want to sell apps. Maybe you dont really want to give microsoft a credit card for $100 every year. Maybe you want to just do more than a developer unlock will get you - like load a whole new aspect of the operating system. Or maybe you just dont want to pay to unlock your phone. Understandable, i suppose (though for MOST people, a developer unlock is more than sufficient). There are options, but they will require a lot of time and investigation (maybe even translation) to get it right, because the WP7 is new. The devices are many - its not like having a single hardware baseline to crack - like the iPhone. And to throw another monkey in the wrench, they did a full-fledged update to the OS not 6 months ago. So - no - not a a lot of "beginners" guides out there. Even for experienced people, an unofficial unlock is still a tricky feat. Take a look at the number of posts that have to do with phones randomly "re-locking" themsleves. Hell, I'm a legit developer and my phone "re-locked" itself last night. (turns out MS has a "lease" on deve unlocks that you need to physically update every year by un-registering and re-registering the device)
hope this was informative and helps.
I found exactly the same problem. Today I saw this post in the HTC Titan forum which helped me understand all the different unlocks that you hear mentioned on the web.
Hope this helped

BIG LIAR

Hi . I would also like to see a video tutorial with someone who managed to unbrick on the Motorola moto Z XT1650-03. I think it's all a lie. I've been trying for two weeks to bring the phone back to life, but no chance. I'm trying to do this with the blankflash in your post but no chance. The phone is seen as qualcomm, with windows put in test mode, you press v- and power. I click blankflash of dreams and night. All the time I'm wrong. Something with shara failed. Finally . I guess those who say you have been mischievous. To brothers, I think it's cabbage. Made to block phones, end batteries, etc. I think those who make these softwares from big manufacturing companies are paying to finish our new phones and obviously buy new ones. That's why they advise everyone not to make any donations and not to encourage such producers as the XDA. If you want donations, give solutions to your brothers. You are the ones who take advantage of the naivety of the suckers. That's why you provide documentation and software, unlock bootloader commands on any phone. That the naive people believe and update on your software. Although you are warned that you are not responsible, I will bear the greatest blame. And phone companies allow you because they're hand in hand with you. You are paid by them to destroy the phones. I will never use a soft piece down from you and I do not want to know that you already exist. I hope you burn in hell.
