Missing places feature in dialer - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

My friend has the spring version and he has the places table in his phone dialer.
Mine has been missing ever since launch even after updating.
I've googled and can't find an answer.
Is this related to Verizon not letting Bixby use Amazon?
Thanks,
Gage

I believe Verizon removed it. TMobile did something similar with the s7

Galaxy Nexus on Page Plus? I want that unlimited talk/sms/1GB data for $55

I'm a brand new Galaxy Nexus owner! Actually I bought it for my girlfriend; there's no way I could give up my Note. Anyone know how to get this thing set up on Page Plus? The first thing they asked for is an ESN or MEID #, so I pulled the battery and there's only an IMEI # listed. The customer service rep said they can't do anything without an ESN or MEID; but then how does it work on Verizon? If it works with Verizon, it should work with Page Plus.
I'm starting to worry now, because I also just found a thread here where they're trying the same thing but stuck because they can't find the diagnostic menu for manual programming. Anyone know anything about that? Now that I have it in my hands, I reallllly want to get it working!!!
I like how you bought the phone and then decided to do the research on it.
And why did you decide to go for the Verizon version and go with Page Plus? You'd be better off getting the GSM version anyway and using that. There are many many many more MVNO and prepaid options if you just bought GSM. Its not like you were going to get LTE on any prepaid network anyways. Buying a Galaxy Nexus and parking it on EVDO is kinda ****ty.
That being said, looks like you're gonna have to do some research on this one. My guess is theres an issue because Verizon activates and registers phones on their network using the LTE SIM, rather than traditional CDMA methods (afaik).
Err...Verizon uses the MicroSIM. It contains an MEID number, so it can easily be attached to the network when it's plugged in.
Also, the CDMA/LTE Nexus is carrier-locked, so even if you had an MEID number it wouldn't be allowed on Page Plus' network.
Did you seriously spend $650 without even doing a minute of research?
It was a great deal I couldn't pass up: $300! (though it does have a little road rash on the bottom edge.) That's why I bought it right away without first doing the research. I'm sure I can re-sell it if I have to, but I'd really rather not.
After posting I went to About in settings and found that it does have an MEID #, which happens to be the same as the IMEI, but missing the last digit.
So there's no unlock for it yet? I assumed that it being google's Android flagship would mean almost immediate root and unlock.
Yes, I know I still have some reading to do; I just got home and immediately posted because I couldn't wait!

But its a CDMA phone... Just resell it and buy the GSM model. Save yourself the trouble.
Do you think it might help if I went by a Verizon store and got a SIM card?

I will if I have to, but I'm gonna try to make it work first. She's pretty happy with Page Plus (Verizon service) where she travels for work.

How are you gonna convince them to do that when you have no indication whatsoever of signing a contract or using their service? lol.
And that still doesn't remove the fact that it registers on the network with the SIM, which Page Plus (in my reading) does not do, as they don't have LTE.

I figured I'd do some sweet talking... And maybe ask to get set up for Verizon prepaid.
So are you saying if you're in an area where Verizon hasn't yet rolled out LTE the GNexus won't fall back to CDMA or EV-DO, or whatever those non GSM people use?

But their SIM is provisioned for their network. Not Page Plus' network. That's like saying you're going to walk into an AT&T store just to get a SIM, then try to go over to T-Mobile and use their network. That's not how it works.

Of course it will. It does EVDO and LTE. Not everywhere has LTE yet. What I'm saying is why deal with EVDO (you'll never get LTE on Page Plus) when you could have HSPA+ with the GSM model.

Page Plus's network is Verizon's network. (though I don't think LTE is included. People on AT&T MVNOs (such as straight talk) regularly get SIM cards from AT&T stores to fix service issues...
I found these guys who claim to flash all sorts of devices including Android for Page Plus, and they have a huge Galaxy Nexus picture front and center; I contacted them and hope it's not false advertising.

Yes its the same network, I'm aware of how an MVNO works... what I'm saying is Page Plus doesn't activate phones using SIM cards because it doesn't have LTE or that system in place, whereas Verizon does. Which leads to issues.
Just makes more hurdles. As I said, you're going through extra trouble to just get a EVDO-stuck Galaxy Nexus. But that's your choice...
And ouch, those guys charge $50 to flash your phone? Kinda lame...
Anyways, good luck to you.

If you (really) ended up with a used, slightly damaged Verizon Galaxy Nexus for that price, and can't use it without signing a contract with Verizon. I say you're pretty much screwed since the price of Verizon's Galaxy Nexus just went down to $99 only.

Thank you for taking the time to comment in my thread. I started it with hopes of generating conversation that could lead to clues on overcoming the hurdles of putting the GNex on Page Plus. I don't need suggestions for other courses of action; my girlfriend is very happy with Page Plus (and the Verizon network) where she travels for work. I wanted to get her a new phone, the best one that'll work on Page Plus, and I found a smoking deal on it so I bought it.
So what it won't achieve LTE speeds; there's still many other things to like about it, and nothing else will achieve LTE on Page Plus, either. It's a perfectly good plan; not everyone's willing to pay twice as much or more just for LTE, but may still want a top notch phone.
I'll give it a week or two then sell it if nobody can figure out diagnostics mode on it, but I have high hoped.
And if it took paying $50, it'd still be dirt cheap compared to going to Verizon! You'd make that money back and then some on the first month with Page Plus instead of Verizon!

Oh, it'd move. Looking at completed listings on Ebay and craigslist offerings, I'm pretty sure it'd be snatched up rapidly at $300. $99 is with 2-year commitment and those subsidies tend to translate to street value around $350 (i.e. that's the discount you get for signing a contract.) Anyways, I have a habit of giving old devices to friends/family.
Edit: especially with the terms/conditions Amazon puts on top of Verizon's in the contracts...
Edit 2: of course neither I nor anyone else would have to sign a Verizon contract on this phone, since the original guy who got the subsidized price did it.

I highly doubt anyone is doing much research on this, since it's such a rare request. Most people will just get the GSM model, if they do not want to use Verizon.
If you have a local shop willing to do this for you, I recommend contacting them - but I wouldn't pay a cent until you've verified functionality.
Cheers
Hi!
I am doing my own research too cause I too own a Verizon Galaxy nexus, and want to get it working with my local carrier in Mexico. Still looking to get it in diagnostic mode but wit no possitive results yet. As always, there will be a solution, but as things are going until now, it could take some time to appear.
And as yomuppet says, dont pay a cent until you see the thing workin!
I'd pay the 50 bucks to get it flash by that website or another site called beige something...
Otherwise you need CDMA workshop.
Look up HTC Thunderbolt on pageplus on these forums and you'll find a video on how to do it on that fone. I image it would be similar process for the sammy
did anyone ever get this working?
I totally understand original posters issue. I like the nexus and would like to get one but I too am a happy pageplus customer and would like to see if there's a way to make it work. Lame that people can't address the issue at hand but instead try to ridicule your decision. I tried setting up the droid charge (also a 4g lte phone) on pageplus but with no success - and ended up selling it. And yes, I walked into the verizon store and asked and they just gave me a sim card. but it still wouldn't register - and I also gave them the imei #minus the last digit. Too bad... I really like the new lte phones but I haven't seen many of then work on pageplus yet. If anyone figures it out, please post it here.

International Unlocked Note 7 with AT&T

First and foremost, I'm a noob.
Anyways, I'm giving this whole Android thing a go for the third time. I had an S7 and an S7 Edge, both were great phones but they were also carrier versions. I've owned pretty much everything Apple and coming to the realization that Apple is dropping the ball. It's time to switch it up.
I ordered an International Unlocked 930F Note 7 and I'm currently with AT&T. After researching, I'm aware that I'll be losing a few things like Samsung Pay and VoLTE. Few questions I have: When the Note comes in the mail, shall I remove the SIM out of my iPhone SE and insert it into the new phone? Or go to an AT&T store and ask for another SIM?
Your feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe you will lose Samsung Pay. It should work. And yes, just plug your SIM (if its a nano) and go. I plan on getting the same phone and I had the S7 Edge international version and it worked fine on AT&T. I never tried Samsung pay though.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Not too worried about Samsung Pay, as I don't even use Apple Pay. But the VoLTE is what I'm mainly concerned about.
Also what about visual voicemail? I understand it can be downloaded from Google Play, but will it still work and keep my same greeting, etc..?
Brings me to next question: Samsungs website offers the micro SD card as a free gift when purchasing the phone, do you know if they honor purchases from eBay and/or international devices?
Yeah I don't use Samsung pay either. Not sure about VoLTE.
Visual voice mail works fine. Just download the app from the Play Store like you said but not sure about the greeting. Don't know if that stored in the app or on AT&T's server.
From what I've been reading, when you register your phone, regardless of where you got it, you will be able to take advantage of the current promotion. LETS HOPE!
Samsung pay should still work, and so will the VVM app from the play store.
Eventually if a root/flashing method should come out for the international model which could let you flash over AT&T stuff such as HD voice. Not 100% sure on that but maybe someone else can verify that.
When you get the phone, go to the store and ask for a sim.
As for the free gift, it only applies if you buy it from a carrier store, or certain stores. I'm assuming the guy you bought it from already got the promo gift from Samsung. If you really want it maybe cancel the eBay order and get it from Samsung.
As far as I know you can't buy the international version straight from Samsung. If that would have been an option, I'd been all over that.
Would the SIM in my iPhone not work?
Seems you may be right, the only options I see on their site are carrier models. If you go to the promotion site though, they have an option for "other" retailers so you can try with your eBay invoice as proof of purchase.
I like where your heads at.
I suppose what I can do with the SIM is try swapping it into the Note and if it doesn't work, go to the store.

I'll pop in with a lil info for you. I use a international Note 4 on AT&T now with zero issues. A few reasons why I went with this version instead of a carrier branded phone. First one was the unlocked bootloader, since the AT&T version was locked up and still locked to this day. My 4 still works perfectly fine with a custom S7/Note 7 Rom on it. So you decide if you want it..
Now in regards to the crapple sim going into the N7, if I'm not mistaken you're going to have to get that changed from the crapple set-up. Think they need to put it back to regular data or whatever all the other phones use. You know it's always something special with crapple! I would say try the sim if no data you'll know why.
Good luck

As mentioned above, I believe Apple uses different settings for data with their sim cards. When my brother switched from a 4S to Android he had to get a new card. I also just got his LTE working for him by contacting support and registering his Sim card with the one I from a store display phone. I just took a picture of the IMEI of an S7 in store and used the "ATT Phone" APN settings. The NXTGENPHONE APN will not work for some reason when I tried it.

While I'm at the store, I'll snap a pic of the back of an S7 as well just to be safe. Can you clarify "ATT Phone" in the APN settings? Where is this located?
Go into the phone settings and get the IMEI and IMEISV
I needed both when talking to tech support.
As for the APN I used the same ones as the OP from this thread.

SIM Unlock Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Note 5

Each time I run though looking for more clues as to how to remove the network lock on my Sprint Galaxy S6 (SM-G920P) I come across this thread.
[GUIDE] SUCCESS!!! SIM Unlock Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Note 5
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...de-success-sim-unlock-sprint-samsung-t3130294
However, the first post has been removed due to the poster promoting paid services.
I am interesting in finding out what was in that post, other than the paid service. I've been digging for days and I'm stuck. I'd really like to be able to use my S6 but it's stuck on the Sprint network. My post-pay plan is on Verizon. I tried contacting Sprint but since I don't have the account details where it was activated previously, they refuse to unlock it for me. I tried paying a service $6 to unlock it but they never responded. I can't afford one of the services that's $40, I'm between jobs.
Does anyone know what was in that thread before? Or can point me in the direction of a solution? I have no problems dealing with the technical side if I have a tiny bit of guidance. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
If you're no longer under contract and have paid off your phone. Just call sprint to unlock your phone. They have to because it's the law.
The thread I was speaking of didn't include any technical information as I had anticipated. Perhaps at one point but not when it was removed.
Swaydude, thanks for the info. I'll contact Sprint again. Everywhere I've looked says the IMEI is clean. The phone wasn't mine originally. I got it from my sister when she got her S7 a while back. She doesn't remember her account information. Apparently it was originally setup through a boyfriend but she'd been paying it for the last year or so. I'm not sure. She's all over the place sometimes.
You can try a number of things. If you want to switch to Verizon, you need a Verizon compatible imei. You'll need to lie to them over the phone. It's best to just get the service setup on somebody's Verizon phone, then switch the SIM cards out. (Give them back theirs and install the one you setup in your own phone.) First you'll need to unlock your phone..if you're rooting then you need idoneapps 3.15 & 3.18. There's a lot of fake versions around the internet being shared, if you pm me I'll send you the real ones. There's also cheap services on eBay that allow remote access to your computer's usb ports. People can change your imei using these but you're not likely going to get an imei that's compatible with Sprint or Verizon from those services. It's important to understand the value your original imei carries because it's worth $60 and will work with all the service providers. Changing means there's no possible way to get it back without sending your phone to Samsung and that's a really unreliable place to expect repairs after you've rooted. To avoid this you should install the latest 5.1.1 update and pay for the new idoneapps. It works without root, and can unlock your phone without worries. The issue with this is getting your new apns to save properly. You might need to reboot for them to show up after you save them, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times.. Or enter ##DATA## on your dialer, press tap on edit data profile, enter your msl code and then manually edit your apns from the profile menu. You'll need to download and flash the update from Odin and run the app with the imei package, it show do all the work for you apart from using Odin to downgrade. Also note that downgrading isn't that easy since the update binary level has to match the device level on specific partitions. This is why I suggest the latest 5.1.1 update from Sprint, because the app doesn't provide your msl on the newer updates without root.
You can use Z3X Samsung Tool Pro 27.2 or above. Just install it, select your phone model and you will see further instructions there itself. Just Google for the cracked/paid version.*If you get 'unlocking.... error.', you might need to flash old modem first.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy watch LTE activation.

I am hoping someone can answer something for me. I am getting the 46mm Galaxy watch with LTE from T-Mobile as soon as they are back in stock. Hopefully it will ship the 24th which is the earliest. Anyway, I have been doing a lot of research on the watch. Some things concern me and I can only work around one I get the watch.
But, the major concern is when I get the watch will it be already activated on LTE? I have read a lot of people talking about having to have a Samsung phone to do the activation. I talked to T-Mobile and they said it should be activated already if the Digits line is active. It is active on the other one we ordered that was in stock. I just don't know about mine yet until it ships.
So, does anyone have any experience with this watch on T-Mobile? I do not have a Samsung phone. I know all Bluetooth stuff will work. I just want to use it as a standalone device also.

You need a T-Mobile phone to get it up and running. My watch connected to my phone thru bluetooth and was working just fine, but I couldn't get the LTE to work until after I made the trip to an actual T-Mobile store. I have a Verizon phone. I couldn't get the LTE to work so I ended up using a T-mobile employee's phone to set it up. It needs to download something thru a T-Mobile line. But once you set it up you're good. Hope this helps.
Yeah I bought it straight from T-Mobile. And I have T-Mobile. I just have a Moto z2 force and I have heard you can't set the LTE up without a Samsung phone. You get kind of error like that it can't be setup on this device. T-Mobile assured me it will be working fully after they link the Digits line to it. Which is right before it ships.

Did you get your watch to activate on a T-mobile stand alone line? I have Sprint for my phone. I have a Samsung S2 watch on a stand alone line. I went in and bought a Galaxy Watch at a T-mobile store. We tried for 3 days and never got it to activate on my stand alone line, so I returned it. The guys in the store called all kinds of customer service numbers. They were finally told that Samsung wouldn't allow it to activate on a stand alone line. We all thought it was bs but no one could get it working. So does yours have its own line and number on T-mobile? Thanks.

I only have one line thru T-Mobile and it is the Galaxy watch. My actual phone is a Verizon phone. I had problems getting it to sync to my phone. I called Samsung and t-mobile, both didn't know what was what. I returned my watch and got a new one thinking it was defective. The new one did the same thing. So I went to the Samsung forums with my problem and someone suggested to take it to the store and use one of there phones. So I did.
It took a couple of tries. I used two different phones from the store before the employee just let me use his. I forget what kind of phone he had but that made all the difference. I suggest going into a t-mobile store and syncing your watch to the most current SAMSUNG device they have. What happens is they use the phone to transfer the file you need to your watch. Once you have it downloaded on your watch the LTE should be up and running. You won't need that phone ever again even after a factory reset. Your watch should have its own number and you can connect it to whatever carrier phone you have.
Let it be noted that I did this before any updates occurred. I would have hoped this issue would have been fixed by now. I hope this helps. I will say that T-Mobile was very kind, and when they could be, they were very helpful.

Question Can send sms on Verizon but can't receive messages. Any fix?

I've tried using shortcut master and accessing the telephony bands settings in the Red Magic 6 settings that isn't viewable. So far, no luck. I tried setting it to evdo, cdma, etc.
Anyone find a fix or have found a workaround for this?
I'm having the same issue. So far I have stumped the techs at my local Verizon store and also tech support. I have an escalated ticket with phone support so hopefully I'll get some answers. In the meantime someone on reddit mentioned when they got a new SIM card it worked. They were going from an old 4G phone SIM to a 5G. This was my situation but did not fix it for me. Worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.
Your never gonna get sms working properly on Verizon.

Update: I talked to tier 2 tech support at Verizon and had my ticket escalated to the Network Repair Bureau. From what it sounds is that they need to enable CDMA less on the Red Magic 6 but aren't able to until the device is added to their list, which they are going to do. ETA is 1-5 days.
The tech said they had a ticket exactly like this before and were successful so there is some hope here. I'll continue to pursue this and update again once I have more.

Good luck with that. Vz are diks with non approved phone. Another way around it, is activate a one plus, and they will add CDMA less instantly, then pop sim in rm6
