Dear All,
I am trying to build lineage OS 14.1 for falcon, Moto G 1st gen device.
I was wondering to make changes in phone app, however, cant find its source.
I worked with AOSP 4.x for Google Nexus series a couple of years back.
The phone app source was in packages/app/Phone, but now it is not there.
Instead, I can see PhoneCommon.
Can anyone pls guide me, where to look for Phone app and how the Phone.apk is created.
Sincerely,
Navi

Hello,
I wanna put Firefox OS on my GT-I8160 and get rid of that ... Android. What do I do? I don't have no big experience with moddin my smartphone, other than puttin 4.1.2 ROM on it. Based on some other threads I reviewed before, being:
[Q] Firefox OS on Samsung Galaxy Ace 2x
[Q] [ROM][B2G][LWW] Firefox OS
[Q] Firefox OS
, there're some ROMs but buggy (no WiFi, camera, GPS etc.). Have these been fixed in the newest ROMs for GT-I8160. Please guide me thru.
NOTE: I want to GET RID of Android (that's why I'm doin it), not install no plug-ons like 'Firefox OS experience for your Android device'.
Thank you very much in advance!

Take these sources: https://github.com/mozilla-b2g
Add our device source tree and kernel, modify ramdisk, apply our STE patches (the ones from j-aosp should fit aosp base of firefox os).
Then compile it.
But with your experience in that it will be almost impossible.
Personally I wanted to port it before, but realized that I'm in lack of time, and I don't really need it.
Ahhh,wait.... Firefox os is fully based on android.... Only one difference: it uses HTML applications instead of java.
Yeah, I'd probably need some help with these. Do you have any info on if this particular ROM still has them problems i described previously? Where can I find these things you listed? Is it all in the phone's general? Anyway, can I ask for links just for the sake of makin sure I got THE right one?
Isn't FOS better on security aspect because of sandboxin?
Is there ANY alternative OS you'd recommend to me, especially speakin of security? I DO mind Google knowin all where I'm even though I think my GPS' s off, and knowin all my data etc. . Thank you for reply BTW!
@up
You should compile from sources every alternative OS. You can't take it from other phone and port it. All bugs are device-specific.
There is no tutorial. Only generic-device ho-to-build tutorial. For FOS it's https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS/Developing_Firefox_OS/Porting
You should also adapt all STE patches. No one will teach you. It's simply impossible.
Alright, I'll read these, and try to find more on my own as well. Is there ANY PARTICULAR OS you'd recommend to me?

Have you actually tried the custom ROMS for our device?
For a budget phone, it does have quite some options, and most are running well.
Hi everyone in the Remix OS section,
I've just installed Remix OS on my HP laptop and was impressed about its overview. Actually I haven't spent that much time on the OS, just rooted it, made a system dump and copied it to my Linux machine. I began porting the OS to my phone (an NEXUS 5X). Editing framework-res works, but I'm still struggling porting the apps. To me they seem fine and even there is no specific platform like it's only for x86 devices, but still there not installing on my device. I've also decompiled and recompiled them but with no success. So did anyone has a solution for me?
Thanks in advance.
I m using lineage os 11 unofficial espresso 3g in Samsung gtp3100 but in other roms like slimkat and omni rom i get head ups for incoming call but in cm11 and lineage 11 i dont get y ??
SlimKat and Omni most likely included that capability separately. Stock Lineage 11.0, like CyanogenMod before it, didn't have that capability, to the best of my knowledge.

I, personally, don't have this device and I don't see that there's ever been a LineageOS 11.x ever created for any device (that I'm aware of) but, there was a CyanogenMod 11.x created for it and is extremely old and I don't see any real information for it since around 2014.
With that stated...
The following is the device dedicated area specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P3100):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2
There you'll locate much newer developments for this device that ranges from Recovery to ROM.
If you have questions regarding any threads that you find there, post them within those threads.
As a last resort, if you have any trouble with where, what, why, etc... and can't figure out where to go or post a question, then the following thread will be your best bet in receiving some guidance and support from other members who has the same device as you.

I wish you the best of luck!

While I was browsing the forums, I stumbled upon a user who claims to be running LOS 15.1 on his MZP. That rang a bell, because I remembered that the only unofficial LOS 15 port that there is was made by Alberto97, and it wasn't 15.1 but 15.0. Alberto also ceased development on the project. So I ask this user for the link of the ROM and he sent me this:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/lineage-os-15-1-moto-z-play/
He also provided another link which shows the apparent developer of the ROM having an XDA account, though for some reason, did not create a thread for his ROM, but instead only sent a copy of the download link in a thread of a completely different ROM. Here it is:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...rom-unofficial-lineageos-15-0-t3682736/page25
What do you guys think? Is this a legitimate build, or just a modified ROM based on someone else's work?
I installed it some weeks ago but i didn't like it. Camera didnt work and some other things that i didnt like.
So i went on albertos AOSP and wait for an official release from lineage.
I've loved my N7 2013 since I got it when it came out. It used to be unbelievably snappy, but at some point an OTA made it slow, then the next one even slower. I realised that the Facebook app kills the device so I took that off. Then I rooted the device and did a factory reset. It is less sluggish, but still a bit too slow for me.
If 6.0.1 stock, which I am running right now, is the culprit, which older stock should I go back to? I'd like to strike a balance between speed and going so far back in versions that the security risks and other trade-offs are too great.
I am prepared to also try a custom ROM but I would prefer using my tablet over fiddling with it so I'd like some advice as to which ROM (stock or otherwise) is most likely to speed up my beloved N7.
I highly recommend LineageOS 14.1. (Nougat) It was the last official version for N7 by LineageOS. Everything works on 14.1.... and it is super stable.
wileyc has an unofficial version of it. He is leaving the original build unchanged but is creating security updates almost weekly. Here is the link to his posting:

Thanks Tam, looks like a good contender. If one wants to regularly flash these updates for security, am I right in saying that each time the device is wiped, or can you avoid losing your configuration and apps? Is there a clever way to avoid a lot of hassle with backup/restore and reconfiguring your device each time?

Edit. Hi Lief, I mis-advised (hazzards of being a noob giving advice). You will actually have to do a clean install of lineage 14.1. Meaning that you will have to reinstall all of your apps and settings.... On a plus side there is virtually no bloat in Lineage 14.1, and there is something to be said for how well your N7 will run with a fresh install.
Sorry for the misinformation
Leif, You are correct. Nothing changes with your apps or configuration.
Just download the update/latest build to your device and install with TWRP. VOILA! Done. Pretty hassle free.

Does anyone know if the 14.1 build supports HDMI via Slimport like stock does?

I can confirm that the answer is yes - LineageOS 14.1 on deb (LTE) does support video out via the USB port and a Slimport adapter.

Is there a similarly updated build for the LTE version?
Edit: NM, found the deb builds by replacing "flo" with "deb"!
Hi guys
Has someone tried to compare 14.1 and 17.1 performance?
I have installed 14.1 It looks great and just wondering how is the 17.1 fly on it?
thx
Lineage OS 14.1 vs 17.1 (Flo)
Hi guys,
I'm on lineage os 17.1 , Nexus 7 2013 Flo (32gb) , I remember having issues with bluetooth on 14.1 ( sisaxis controller ) and that's why I upgraded to 17.1.
It's a little bit laggy but nothing serious.
Hope that Can help.
