Power Button and Volume Buttons don't work on locksreen

The power button and the volume buttons work perfectly fine when the device is unlocked, but once the device is locked, my power button and volume button stop working. I can't get into boot loader either because the power button won't work in boot loader either. I tried using rom manager to flash CM7 twice and flashed miui once, still no solution
A couple things you could try. I'll throw out this first one just to cover all the bases. Sometimes a screen won't power up every time with the power button and what has helped people is to turn on screen-on animation. This is likely not your issue.
The other option is to do a complete wipe several times. And i don't mean the generic wipe, i mean formatting boot, system, cache, data all independently several times. If you having trouble getting into recovery, you should be able to when you are on your home screen and if you hold the power button to reboot. depending on your current ROM you should have an option to boot to recovery.
I'd like to make sure doing that complete wipe a stupid amount of time doesn't correct it before you start trying other things.

Well, I can't really get to the wipe screen because when I am on the boot loader screen my power button doesn't work either. I can't select anything to do ):. Also I've noticed that my power button was previously working (every now and then) but since I ref lashed this new rom, it hasn't been working at all. And my volume buttons only work when the screen is on

here you go:
from root: /system/usr/keylayout and look for keypad.kl I believe. From here you can edit different keys/buttons to WAKE or WAKE_DROPPED. Save it and delete the backup file, reboot and this should do the trick.

ROM Manager Hard Bricked My Phone?

I wanted to update my phone from CM9.1 to CM10 and wanted to back it up first. The first backup never went past "clearing space..." so I cleaned out all of my old ROMs and a couple of backups. Then I thought, maybe I don't have the latest version of recovery, so I reflashed Touch recovery. Then I hit the "reboot into recovery" in ROM manager. The phone vibrated and "Samsung" boot animation appeared very briefly....then nothing. I tried pulling the battery and then holding going directly into recovery with the volume buttons and power and it would just vibrate and show the opening samsung boot screen. After trying that a few times, now all I get is the vibration.
Today I tried the "soft brick" solution, but all it does is vibrate every alf second.
So am I bricked?
Your are soft bricked.
Take battery out for ten seconds
Insert back in hold volume keys press power
Let go while continuing holding volume key. Some people hold volume keys and power continuously but that doesn't always gets it.... g luck

To enter recovery, your timing during the phone vibration has to be somewhat perfectly timed.
Power up and keep one finger in the middle of the volume control so both volume controls are pressed simultaneously with one finger on the power button. When the phone vibrates one time, remove finger holding the power button while still holding the volume buttons until recovery appears.
Good luck OP.
When I do this, all I get is a black screen after the initial Samsung boot screen. Am I supposed to follow the instructions on the soft brick thread? Or just do this over and over until something else happens?
Good news guys. I used the soft brick instructions and loaded recovery through odin and it booted up into CM9 on its own! Thanks for the help!

Have you tried holding volume up and down at same time while holding in power button at the same time plugging in the power cord this will get you to download mode so you can use odin to flash new rom if possible. Or just turn power on while holding down volume button while it powers up this will get you to download mode without the power cord also.

[Q] Soft-bricked phone after installing custom kernel

Hi Everyone! I'm pretty new to Android stuff in general, and it looks like I soft-bricked my phone while trying to install a custom kernel.
Currently, my phone is running the latest beta of PA (pa_m8-4.6-BETA1-20140902).
I was trying to install custom kernel franco.kernel. Quick googling told me this is possible and the process was to boot into recovery (I'm using TWRP), make a backup, clear cache and dalvik cache, reboot into bootloader and then use fastboot to flash the new boot.img. Was this process correct, or was I already destined for failure?
After doing that whole process, the phone no longer boots properly. When powering on the phone, I see the initial HTC screen popup, and then the screen goes black. This stays this way forever unless I hold power + vol up, which will just restart the phone and the same thing happens. No other keys or key combinations do anything. Holding power or power + vol down does nothing. Holding power + both volume is the same as holding power + vol up. I have also tried holding the power button while holding the phone under a bright light; this has had no effect.
Unfortunately, I can't take a video of this behavior, however it appears this youtube video shows the same behavior:
CPCVecKSPAA (sorry can't post links because I'm new)
The only differences between my behavior and the youtube video are:
1. I am using AT&T instead of international version
2. At the initial screen, I see the red warning text.
Currently, my plan is to wait for the battery to die and then plug it in and try to boot into recovery with power + vol down. Does anyone know anything else worth trying?
Thanks !
Just refresh the rom... That will restore the PA kernel.
I was able to get my phone into bootloader via the following:
1. Plug phone into PC.
2. Press power + vol up + vol down.
3. As soon as charge LED turns off, release vol up.
Once I was in bootloader, I got my phone working by going into recovery and then restoring my backup.

HTC M8 stuck problem.

I rooted my phone like a month ago and installed TWRP. After ARHD i wanted to try MIUI, but when i flashed it i lose my root. I m downloaded ElementalX 4.4 gpe kernerl and i go to flash it, instalation go normaly, but when i finished twrp lagged for first time 2,3 secunds when i tap reboot. After that, phone booted normaly, white display with htc and developer text, like always, but after that come black display. It stucked here and i cant do anything. No matter how long i hold power button or anything else it cant do anything. It dont shows orange light on charger. 2 hours i cant do anything, but phone is running something, it is hot right now, cca 41 c, but its still stucked. Please help.
a
finded out now, when am hold power buton + vol up, phone just restart, and stuck like last time. It cant boot to recovery or bootloader
Hold power + volume UP, as soon as the screen goes BLACK switch to volume DOWN. Keep the POWER button pressed at all times.
That will put the phone in the bootloader, go from there to the recovery and reflash a rom with a FULL wipe otherwise it will never work.

My phone is having a strange bootloop

So i attempted to install a CM 12 nightly and it flashed and installed without error, but now it keeps flashing the "Welcome Select Language" screen for about 2 seconds, then going black for about 10 seconds, and back to the screen. The touchscreen is not working and I cannot power it off to get into recovery. Should I just wait for the battery to die or is there any other way to fox this or turn it off?
Hold the power and volume up buttons for exactly 10 seconds. Then quickly switch to holding volume down and power at the same time to get to the bootloader menu.
