So, as the title says, I do not get the "heads up" (pop up) notifications for most apps. I have them for whatsapp or youtube, but other apps notifications' (gmail, instagram, etc) just appear in the status bar... Is it the normal behaviour for this specific device or am I missing something?
I'm on 6.0 stock, not rooted

Did anyone expirienced missing facebook notifications from official fb app? I think the problem is when facebook for Xperia show notification first and then in official fb app notification and description is missing.
I want keep Facebook for Xperia but I don't care about notifications on lock screen and I'd like to have all notification from fb official app.
Anyone have solution?
Thanks in advance
I'm too facing this problem,
notifications are only shown on the lock screen,
everything was working fine, but after the last firmware update i have to return to the lock screen to see notifications. no auditory notifications or messages on notification bar(usually with the facebook icon).
does anyone know how to keep notifications after your phone restarts.
One example is a list of events I had on my calendar, it appeared today and i had a checklist to check it off and dismiss it as it completes.
however after restart, the list is gone. its still on my calendar, but the notification is gone.
is there a way to keep notifications on until i clear them? even after restarting the phone?
As per the thread title Does block all notifications disable persistent notifications in the background?
Reason for asking is I am trying out forcedoze which needs a persistent notification to prevent it from being killed in the back ground but I do not like persistent notifications.
So if I block all notifications for forcedoze does it kill the persistent notification or merely prevent it from being shown on the pull down menu but it's still there but you cannot see it?
Prevent app doze / hibernation without persistent notification
Same here. I'm trying to have automatic call recorder pro not stop recording calls if i don't use its UI for a few days. One of its settings called "run in the background" - "wait for calls while running in the background" puts a persistent notification, which i have blocked. I hope that this notification blocking will not lead to the app getting automatically hibernated in the future.
-Android Nougat on the OnePlus 3T
If in Nougat, you can disable it and the app still running in background.
If in Oreo, if you disable it, Android own notification message will come out saying the app is still running in background and draining battery. If you have 2 or more apps running in background, it will be better to disable all apps notification and only have 1 Android notification informing about it.
Recently purchased the s9 (GM-G960F). However, I've noticed that the notifications are really buggy. I don't receive ANY notifications for my Gmail, Instagram sometimes works but when it does, 80% of the time it only vibrates with no sound. With WhatsApp, I only receive notifications for every 10 or so messages, and most of the time it only vibrates.
Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram are unmonitored from the battery
All notifications are on and set to urgent (so I get sound and pop up on the screen)
Notification sound is set to "skyline" (default notification sound)
I've tried using other notification sounds but no luck
I've looked in advanced notifications and I can't find anything wrong
Reset phone twice and still nothing
I've cleared the cache a number of times for each app that notifications don't work
Any help?

Thanks, I installed it this morning. However, there is no difference. Notifications are still buggy
Check that you didn't enable any battery saving feature or install any on your phone including those that stops applications from accessing the internet or updating in the background. Also check the status bar in the settings, "Show Recent Notifications Only" should be turned off.

I've checked and no battery saving features are activated for WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram. (I've even turned off the save data feature in Instagram and Twitter), As for Gmail, nothing shows in the battery settings to unmonitor it.
Show recent notifications is off (it's one of the first things I did when I set up the phone)
My current Apps that I have installed are:
WhatsApp
Instagram
Twitter
Google Authenticator
Spotify
Snapseed
The rest of the apps came pre-installed on the device (Youtube, Gmail, Drive, Maps...)
I've started to uninstall one by one the Apps i've installed to see if it fixes it. So far I've tried Spotify and Instagram, but no fixes were made.
I've even gone into recovery mode and cleared the whole cache.
When I receive a Viber message notification but for some reason I don't want to open it that moment, the notification is being removed after ~30 minutes from notifications drawer, from lockscreen, notification dot also removed from app icon. From everywhere that would remind me that I had a message. If I open Viber app it still shows as unread though.
Does anybody have the same experience and anyway to fix it?
