It all depends on the user.
Usage patterns and wakelocks, mostly.
You can also check your governor settings and try to tweak them.

Hows the battery life?
How good is G3's battery life?
Some say it's average, some say it's really good...
I think I mostly browse the web at my phone...
Will it survive a full day? (12 hours)
Because it's kind of important to me...
I'd love to hear some thoughts about it's battery life from you (How long do you last, and what do you do to achieve that?)
Thanks!
I'm using Euphoria ROM with Nebula Kernel and i usually get around 16hrs with 4h SOT. Everything at performance profile... So i guess i could archieve more in a Battery Kernel profile, i noticed Batt life its better for me in AOSP than Stock or Stock-Based...
For me on VS985 with Telsa custom Rom and Nebula Kernal I get about 3 hours SOT a day over a period of about 16 hrs
Here is mine, so much depends on apps that one uses, screen brightness etc.

I use pure stock CM 12.1, no 3rd party kernel. I do the usual tweak of not syncing Google service I do not use. I also do not use the Facebook app.
Edit:
Yesterday I went back to rooted stock, just for a change. SOT is not as good as CM for me, maybe 5 hours of SOT.

Best kernel(rom?) for speed and battery life?

It has gone some time now and a lot of new kernels and roms have surfaced.
What kernel(s) has improved YOUR speed and battery life the most compared to stock in every day use?

CM-based ROMs gave me better performance and battery life. Currently, I'm using Arter97's CM 13 ROM+Kernel and I'm getting longer screen on-time.

I would say 2-3 extra hours compared to OOS.
try l speed with ex kernel .It just works like a charm. Getting 6-7 SOT having no battery charged for 2 days.

On ex kernel side everything is default except i/o changed to fiops
On l speed side(im using beta, u may choose stable or beta) i choosed recommended profile and after selecting advanced ui i choosed as shown in screenshots
You may change as per your liking. I got no problems with performance and battery and everything works fine
arter kernel + his cm is a good combo
just like sultanxda builds for 1+1

which rom for oneplus 3 has best battery life and performance

Please tell me which rom is overall gud for oneplus 3. Checking all the rom ia not possible for me it takes lot of time and i m really disappointed form oxygen os 4.0.3 it drain lots of battery please suggest me a rom with good battery life and performance i dont care much about customization
Iam afraid there is really nothing that can help you (or others like me..). I have tried allot of ROMS and they all result in somewhat the same result.
1 charge 1 day (or almost 1 day) Does not matter if i use custom kernel battery improvement tools or "special" tips and tricks at the end of the afternoon iam still running low. I know i use my phone ALLOT and i use allot of connectivity (WIFI, 3/4G, BT) that is properly the issue, but still its sad that the only thing that might help is buying the oneplus3T.

If you want to stick to MM then go for Sultan's CM & if you want to upgrade to N then go for Resurrection Remix. Both ROM's stock kernels have new good battery life but in the camera part they are out numbered. Sultanxda has done best job by optimising the inbuilt camera app at par with stock OOS & also he gives security patch updates too as soon as they are released.
Resurrection Remix on other hand works great with Android N but has buggy camera due to buggy camera on LOS & we know that till now OnePlus has not released blobs so can't do anything.
All this is my personal preference. You can try out both our any other ROM's from development section like Cypheros or AOSP extended which are AOSP & LOS based or for for Freedom OS or Experience ROM which are OOS based.
I have around 7h SOT with latest freedomOS and bluspark kernel. In my eyes thats pretty good and carries me easily through the day. And light use even 2 days.
If you have any heavy battery drain you should search for the reason. Check wakelocks and logcat too find out whats wrong.

Try VertexOS.. You wont feel a stutter and I'm not joking.. Als it scales way more efficient because of EAS. It delivers a near stock experience

Well it has EAS.. Which means that the CPU can be really tamed.. Battery depends on standby but in my usage pattern I can easily get 4 hours SOT. I get an average drain of 13% per hour.

I also recommend the same ROM with stock kernel coming with it. When ever I use substram theme battery consumption is less in my mobile but mileage may vary depends on other user.

VertexOS because of EAS and Voxpopuli your phone will be really smooth while maintaining a good battery life.
There really isn't a super good rom for battery without sacrificing peformance.

EAS vs AKT

I see these terms a lot when kernels are being discussed to save battery life, can these two be used together? What are the differences? Thanks in advance for any information.

You really can't compare these to but.
AKT basically is changing kernel tunables in such matter that it saves battery or increases peformance depending on which the profile is ment for.. The problem is that everyone has a different usage pattern and everyone's definition of smooth and battery is different... For some Project Zhana can be really efficient and smooth while for me it is efficient/battery friendly but not as smooth.
EAS basically replaces the whole HMP part which almost every device runs now (HMP). EAS is quite new and quite experimental but really stable, you really won't notice it is experimental. EAS is a bit hard to explain for me. But if you are looking for a good user experience and the best battery life with it I would suggest you trying VertexOS.
Now correct me if I'm wrong I'm not a ****ing genius at this!

Awesome! Thank you very much for the info, I understand it much better now
In my experience, I get better battery life a balanced profile on AKT (fusion balanced) on OOS. But performance is amazing on Vertex! And battery life isn't terrible, although not as good as on OOS, and it is still very usable.

Thanks for the insight! I currently have the official Resurrection Remix ROM for my 3T with the latest EX kernel. Battery has been inconsistent for me even with the Wakelocks blocked and a mainly black theme, but I think it has to do with the weaker signal as opposed to OOS. I assume there is a way to apply these AKT profiles in the EX kernel app and have them apply after every reboot? I would prefer to stay with Ressurection over Vertex because it already has almost every feature available, and it would be much more convenient than flashing a different ROM each time for a new feature I wanted lol (since there is no Xposed for nougat)

See the link posted by @juliusedward.
ELI5: Basically, EAS and HMP are way to manage tasks in a multi-core processor. HMP requires a lot a guess work and experience to get it right. EAS is, Well, smart! It gets cpu utilization and load information using WALT/PELT (it's a new topic entirely. Think of them like a function, which they honestly are.) and decides which core is perfectly suited for the current given task and at what frequency. So, it is in it's nature to be more efficient and more battery friendly. Although, through lots of tweaking and optimization in HMP kernels it's not that bad either.
I run VertexOS.
EAS seems offer better battery life, same smoothness, and less warm !

Try Blu spark kernel. It's my favorite kernel in terms of performance and battery life. I can get 6-7hrs screen on time consistently over 24 hours on LTE and wifi. Performance is butter smooth. And when I mean butter smooth, I mean no frame drops, no microstutters, pure 60fps smoothness. Something not a single AKT profile can provide without destroying the battery life so I wouldn't recommend them, and yes I've tried every single profile. FlashKernel is also a really nice kernel but you need to tweak the stock governor settings to get nice performance.
Haven't tried EAS, but supposedly it does its job well, very well so you can also try that out. Try vertex it has been getting high praises.

Please check this post here
I think it is safe to presume that it answers your question to a great considerable extent.
Hope it helps.

P.S. AKT profiles cannot be applied on EAS, not yet.

Dont blame the kernel if you have standby drain.
I also use bluspark with freedomos ce and i nearly have zero battery drain over night.
If you have too much standby drain its some third party apps, services or something that keeps your phone awake.
