Hi, I'm quite new to this. Recently I've ordered the EZPad 6 (very cheap at the moment), but still don't have it. I'm curious if there is a possibility of Running Remix OS from USB on the Tablet , nice would be a dual-boot installation. I think its very similar hardware to a CHUWI (HI 10 does Dualboot) or Teclast as its based on cherry trail.
Does someone have experience with it?
If i prepare a USB-Remix OS-Drive it should be possible to boot or am I wrong ? The Main Problem i see is how to get into the Boot-Menu. The next thing are Wifi and Touchscreen drivers i guess.. Some information on that would be nice .
best regards
you can get into the BIOS with ESC at boot and there's a boot menu to select your USB drive with the RemixOS installer on it.
Not sure about the rest yet, I'll let you know how it goes, just booting it up to install now.

meh, no touchscreen or wifi (at least not out of the box) but might be a way to inject them into the ISO somehow?

thanks for your answer..i dont have it yet ..i think i have to wait 10 days more or so..but i will try it .
would be cool to get the touchscreen and wifi fixed..hmm there is a rom around somewhere regarding the chuwi tablet, so maybe its worth a try to install that on usb.
i will try out when i got the tablet
I have the tablet right now... not happy at all (I also bought it because It's cheap).
The tablet won't turn on now after 2-3 uses (and it's charged - i charged it for hours) , screen won't turn on, no way to get into BIOS now, the power button does nothing.
And no the hardware is not the same as any tablet unfortunately, it might seem like so but it isn't.
Audio is handled by Intel SST.
Wifi is by Broadcom (No AC or 5GHZ).
Touchscreen is handled by SiLead.
From what i checked:
Android X86 boots but no sound, internet, touch screen, screen rotation.
Linux Mint\Ubuntu: no sound, internet, touch screen, screen rotation.
I hardly belive that Remix OS would work.
And BTW Bios is fully unlocked on the device, there seems to be a dual boot option there, but I'm not sure It's working at all.
Feel free to ask questions

Hi Daniel, thanks for your answer... hmm what you mean with it doesn't boot anymore after 3 uses ? into windows or remix os ?... well, that would be ****, if the tablet is broken so quick... from some reviews i heard, that it runs quite good.. but they mentioned that it needs a while to charge.. for me windows 10 is the more important thing, as i am on os x always..but there are some advantages of having both... i hope you get the problem solved with your tablet..shouldnt be like that...did you buy it at gearbest?

Hey,
Yes i did bought that from GearBest.
The thing is that yes, the tablet just died after couple of uses, just like that Nothing comes up on screen, Not Windows 10 recovery and BIOS) - the tablet does have a charge.
It was on Windows, but be aware that this is a tablet windows only (Driver wise), and there are no drivers provided for Linux and MaxOSX (so probably major hardware devices won't work outside of the Windows image they pre installed)
I opened a case in front of GearBest about the tablet for returning, here is a video i shot for them about the sudden death:

Thats odd..I have seen the Video.. me too i would say its broken, as im no engineer..what can you do, than return it? there was an insurance , if you have taken that, when buying, they will send you a new one..its written in the disclaimer like this.
have you tried holding down the power button for 5-6 seconds? might be stuck suspending, so (like most PC's) holding down the power button may force it to fully power off, which might allow you to power on again normally?
Another option might be an Android style boot to recovery/reset by holding the power button and either the volume down or volume up key at the same time?
not sure which (if either) might work, as I'm not at home to test, but might be worth a shot?

Yep, that's a windows tablet for you. I have to press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to get it to turn off fully. Then I can restart it by pressing the power button again for 2-3 seconds.
Sent from my P9000 using Tapatalk
Mine stalled on the first reboot after installing spanish. Pressing power button during a bunch of seconds didn't nothing. So I pressed vol down and power during a few seconds and the it powered down... don't know if it was just a coincidence and just pressing power again a few seconds would worked, but it worked.
I'm also on this thread to see if I can install a proper OS like linux or at least android, I've just bought it for the flash sale and to poke around with it.

Hi, 1eddy83, Can you help me with the bios? I cant find them. :'c
Use ezpad 5s bios
Works with ezpad 5s bios bin.
have this tablet for years and pain in neck is if you flash OS from USB. after some time OS slow down and reset to factory default wont help only format partition and install fresh OS.... also is good to disable Windows Update to keep tablet OK.
in case windows install error during first run, just select reset windows to default (erase all files)
if you need to flash from USB, i recommend Win 10 1507 (download ISO with Windows ISO Downoader from heidoc net)... you can also use never versions but from my experience, older is better and bosh accelometar driver worked with this version
other drivers i made backup of all drivers here,
if you want restore all automaticaly, you need registered DriverMagician software
Or bosh, wifi, sound and camera driver in one file here if needed
for Bosch sensor also maybe needed some registry tweak
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation ("SensorPresent"=dword:00000001)
Missing C:\Windows\OEM folder here
Missing registry OEM and bosch info here
to have OEM logo in system info, copy logo.bmp to C:\Windows\OEM\ folder

i tried to set up htc hd rom on my device ( kaiser )
after booting from my device
it work normally till the 1st third on stripe at booting screen
then this message appear
" the update is failed and terminated "
i made restart
but the phone doesn`t work after this
what shall i do
please help me
Have you tried installing a ROM made specifically for the kaiser or do you mean that the phone won't even turn on for you to get to the installation menu? It's not a great idea to install roms designed for other devices, especially one that has no similarity to the kaiser. The roms need a lot of updates before they will work on the kaiser such as kernel modules, drivers etc.

So when you pull out the battery and put it back in and turn the phone on does it do nothing, no leds, no screen at all? if so there is a few things it could be, either a dead battery which needs charging, sometimes it takes a bit of charging before the phone will come to life again. You could have a shorted pin in the mini-usb socket on the bottom or elsewhere in the phone stopping it from turning on or the phone is bricked completely. What happends if you hold down the camera button whilst pressing the power button to turn the phone on?
i did every thing you imagine but nothing at all
just a black screen
battary is ok.
i did hard rest but nothing .
and the computer don`t recognize it.
i think it`s dead
any body can help me ??????????????
Sounds like the phone is completely bricked, if you tried hard resetting it, pulling the battery, and trying what scoot said to try -- Hold camera button while pressing the power button to boot the phone. When doing that you should get a tri-color screen.
i did this but still not work

Get your battery charged through a universal charger (which charges battery in its own cradle), put it back into kaiser.
Connect USB cable to PC
Hold Camera button and Insert other end of USB cable into your kaiser.
Go to My Computer Proporeties > Device Manager and see if there is a composite device in the USB Devices drop down list. If there exists, all you have to do is to flash official ROM again.
While you installed an "HD" rom which was intended to run on HTC HD rather than HTC TyTn II, maybe you actually over-written your kaiser's SPL/Radio while doing so.
NEVER EVER FLASH A ROM INTEDED FOR ANOTHER DEVICE THAN THE ONE YOU HAVE

but i think the problem not the battary because i tried another one 100% WORKING
i rally do what you say but i don`t observed any change
what happen to the device after upgrading with this funcken rom

So here's the story ; I bought the phone worked normal , nodo installed , security update installed , i then register a developer account , installed mango beta 1 , then beta 2 , after that the leaked rtm mango, random restarts.I thought its normal since the drivers aren't updated for mango. Reverted back to nodo today so i can get the mango through official channel with the normal driver. I keep checking no mango , i then tried a disconnect trick a discovered on the forums. version 7401 was installed and then random restarts much often than usual. After disconnecting the phone on step 9 and removing battery couple of times phone booted up and stayed on. After that the Zune prompted me to install Mango. After doing everything zune said Step 8 of 9 Restarting your phone. Phone was stucked on HTC logo disconnected phone removed battery like i did before... but now i can't start it up , no logo no nothing , Power + Volume down does nothing... warranty is still valid though , should i send it for repair? Thanks for any reply
If it's a Verizon trophy, look at the leaked HTC roms, they are the same thing.... (version for version they are exactly the same as you get from the Zune download).
Flash that rom and you'll be on Mango final with all the features that you want.

Check in the HTC Trophy area on this site... there is a bunch of roms, find a NODO rom and put your phone in boot flash, flash it, it should get you back to a working phone.
I know about the CDMA version of the phone and you have the GSM, so I can't help you with the exact rom you need but, I am sure you can find it.

If it won't boot up, and no trick to make it boot up works, then get it swapped. No reason to ask here when no one here works for HTC or whoever you bought the phone through.
From the random reboots you mention, you might have had a semi defective unit from the start as it shouldn't be rebooting that much on you if at all.
Exactly the same problem here. Going to contact htc sav :/ to fix that.

This was the issue; how long did you wait?
I remember when I last upgraded, the phone ages to reboot. You have to be patient!
Same problem here.
HTC Trophy. Was on NoDo (7392 or something like that) and never installed any pre-release Mango. Phone is not developer unlocked or unbranded (it's VF).
Did the disconnect trick last night to get the update. It installs 2 updates and the first went fine but the second (which I think was the HTC firmware update) took quite a long time and eventually got to step 8 of 9 (restarting phone) but stayed there for at least an hour with the HTC logo on screen.
I left it and went to sleep. Woke up this morning with Zune still saying step 8 of 9 and phone blank.
Phone is completely dead. Whether it's unplugged, connected to PC or connected to the charger it won't power on. It doesn't even show the red or green power light. Camera + Vol Up + Power also does nothing. Checked battery with multi-meter and it has power so it's not a charging issue.
It looks almost like a hardware failure (by the fact that there's no activity at all). Maybe the firmware update taking so long overheated something in the phone.

I have the similar problem while updating to Mango. But my current state is a little bit different (may be a bit better then other people). It is stuck in the HTC logo screen.
I have can get into bootloader, but the official bootloader doesn't allow me to do anything.
dears
i have same problem with my trophy
first step: if your trophy can't enter boot mode you have to go to profisnal tool like Riff Box or ORT Box thay used JTAC method and you have to open your phone to connect JTAC cable then repir Boot area and no way to repir this area without this solution
after repir now you can enter boot mode
sec step : flash your phone with Correct flash files
but my Q is what kind of flash can be correct i try many but still hang on HTC logo
we need some one give us correct info about :
all flash file Brand or unbranded and what the true one
are we need to repir RSPL Or HSPL
These sound like factory faults to me. I've been playing around with different ROMs ever since I got my phone,no problem. The only things I wish I had were usb storage and tethering, I wish they were possible without going through an encyclopaedia of instructions, that's a sure way to brickville.

I tried that a few times. In fact I left it plugged into the wall charger overnight. Still nothing.
I ended up getting a replacement phone from my carrier. Interestingly the battery was completely flat when I put it into the replacement phone. They only replace the main shell (refurb), not battery, charger cable or back cover. I had to leave it plugged into the charger for a minute before it turned on.
The difference between the dead phone and the replacement is that the replacement would charge (immediately showed red light when plugged in) but the bricked phone didn't charge or even seem to recognise that a charger was connected.
I do wonder what would have happened if I had charged the battery some other way and then put it back into the phone. I'll never know because the courier took my phone away when they dropped of the replacement.
The worst part was being without my phone for 4 days (over a weekend) and then having to reconfigure and reinstall everything on the new phone (because stupid Zune does not have any way to restore a backup to a different phone). I think the only thing I really lost was my text messages in the end.

Well I've had my phone for 7 months without any issues, including the couple of updates we've had since February. I think what caused the problem here was that the Mango update included firmware updates from the manufacturers. It actually applies one update, restarts the phone and then applies a second update which is the HTC Firmware update. That's the one that doesn't complete properly. Looking around online there seems to be a few HTC (Trophy and HD7) users experiencing the same thing.
I applied the Mango update to my replacement phone (also a Trophy 7) without any problems so maybe it only affects certain Trophy phones.
And I agree with you on the tethering - that's one of the main features I seriously miss from my previous phone!

Then a lot of people must have the same problem with their PC or USB port (including 3 people on this thread alone). I can't post links yet but if you do a Google search for "mango bricked HTC windows phone" there are quite a few links, each with multiple people having the exact same problem (completely dead phone, no power or lights at all). I wouldn't call it "widespread" yet but there's definitely an issue affecting certain HTC phones when updating to Mango.
I had done previous updates on that phone (using the same PC, cable, etc) without issues and the first part of this update worked fine (including the restart). Replacement phone (exact same model) updated fine on the same PC with same cable (including the HTC Firmware update).

"Despite the fact that regular consumers can’t get their hands on the One X by HTC quite yet, that hasn’t stopped some intrepid individuals out there from managing to gain root access before retail availability. Things like this have happened in the past, so it’s not all that uncommon or shocking. More than anything, it’s a good sign that the development community who have been fans of HTC-branded devices in the past, shouldn’t be all that disappointed with the upcoming device’s wide release.
The device has been rooted courtesy of MoDaCo, and they’ve pulled out all the stops. Instead of a long, drawn-out process, MoDaCo has created a Superboot, which will let you root the One X in one, simple action. No adb commands, and no real fussing. Just a boot image that gets the job done, and your root access guaranteed.
It is said to work with Mac, Linux and Windows and it is reportedly fully capable with the full retail handset. Go ahead and head through the link below to learn more.

HTC One V
Hi,
I do not want to open a new tread, I will post here my problem. I got HTC One V on a test, and during the upgrade (with official HTC SW) phone froze, it stops responding so the only option was to turn it off with power button. After that, phone is dead, it does not turn on (power, power+volume up(down)), it is not charging and PC does't recognize it when connected via USB. The battery cann't be removed (unibody).
Is there any way to get that phone alive with some trick, is there any way to disconnect the battery (maybe with some custom USB cable or to use PINs).

According to HTC you need to press and hold the power button for 10 secs it basically stimulates battery removal. Not sure why it isn't working for you though

Hi,
Right in the middle of use, my ATT Tilt 2 went to a basic, dead screen with red, green, blue, and white bars that says Rhod300 32m SS-BC, etc.
The operating system seems have gone down--it won't respond to anything. Hard reset produces the same results.
Can I flash a cooked or official Rom back onto this? I think activesynch is needed for a normal flash and of course I can't use active synch with the phone in this condition.
I think probably what I need is an original ROM install. Is this possible with a normal Windows 7 PC and a dead phone?
I have so many Windows Mobile programs and peripherals that I am trying to avoid going to Windows Phone at all costs--at least until they have basic stuff like file systems, a way to port over notes, etc. Also need a hard keyboard.
Right now using an older Fuze, which works, but is slower, worse screen, smaller, and lacks some of the features I like.
Thanks for your help.
You sound like you're in the bootloader mode. Tri-color screen.
You can flash from USB or from SD at that screen. I'd recommend trying to flash a stock ROM - as it flashes everything. Assuming that works, hopefully you can flash back whatever ROM you were on.
The phone isn't dead if you're at the tri-color screen. It should say 'serial' at the bottom - when you plug in your USB cable, it should say 'USB' and install some drivers. Then with the RUU software that comes with every ROM, you should be able to flash it.
Phone won't reboot--stuck on tricolored boot screen
Hi,
Thanks so much for replying. I appreciate you pros helping us novices.
Just after I posted the first note, I pulled the battery and hit the power button, it rebooted, and everything was still there in the OS--working fine. But whenever the device had to be rebooted, I would have the same problem of it getting stuck in the boot screen. After that, for the last several days once in awhile, randomly, it would finally reboot from the boot screen after I pulled the battery and hit the power button. The rest of the time (about 5/1) it would just sit there in the boot screen no matter what I did. The "Serial"/"USB" thing would change when I plugged it in, but that's all.
Thought it was the OS, so at a lucky moment where the "pull battery, hit power button" strategy actually worked, I installed the latest official HTC/ATT Rom--it's the next to last one issued that ends in .4.
It was gorgeous and I got all excited--started installing stuff thinking my problem was solved.
Had to reboot to install some programs--now it is stuck again on the boot screen. Tried 30x again--no luck with the "pull battery/hit power button"
strategy. Sometime it would flash a white screen really quickly saying something like "Can't read image!" before going into permanent boot screen. The boot screen will switch from "Serial" to "USB" if you connect it to the computer. So, the problem doesn't seem to be in the OS--rather, in the ability of the device to "read" the OS from the boot screen.
I would be grateful if you or anyone else may know what's going on here, and any ideas on how to fix it. Is there any manual way to get it to read the OS from the boot screen when that's not happening?
I have two guesses (both of which may be wrong):
1. It may be something in the hardware is just worn out and is less and less able to read the Rom--any ROM. I got the phone new off Amazon for a profit of $50 ($.01 cost plus a refund for an older phone) in the summer of 2010 when it was already outdated. and WP was replacing WM. I've certainly gotten my money's worth after 18 months!
Of course we now know that a brand new ROM has the same problem as the older one--which suggests to me it's in the hardware. I'm sure the new OS and the stuff I installed is still there on the phone, but something it appears is not reading something in order to allow the boot up.
2. I have a squirrely free program called Rax Reset (from Windows Mobile Marketplace) that does a software-based hard or soft reboot from inside the OS. The very last time the device went down and didn't come back up, I had used that program to soft reset it. Might have been a big mistake. Could this program be causing the problem? If so, just one reboot would allow me to get rid of it or even hard reset to remove everything but the new OS--but can't get it to boot.
If it turns out the phone is just worn out, I've certainly gotten my money's worth.
I still love WM even with all its problems--and especially the newer Sense version. If this one is shot, I'm thinking about just buying a new Touch Pro2 on Ebay to avoid all of the sacrifices and backwards steps involved with Windows Phone.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Why are you crossposting? I read this EXACT same post in a thread just below this, in the same section. That's pretty low.. Crossposting across forums isn't welcome, crossposting within forums IN THE SAME SECTION is definitely not welcome.
Don't do it again.
Sorry, just trying to get help
Sorry, just trying to get help, not that familiar with the rules.
I searched on "bootloader" and found a thread (wrote a comment there too), but it's old....
Here is the thread. It doesn't really provide any solution.
HomeArrow
Legacy & Low Activity DevicesArrow
HTC Rhodium: Touch Pro2, Tilt 2Arrow
Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 GeneralArrow
issues with bootloader.
Either way, whether you know the rules or not - why would you think copying and pasting the exact same words in the exact same forum help you any more...
Anyhoo, have you tried the usual? Flash stock? Sometimes I've heard you have to flash several times, I never really understood that logic tho.
I'll try to reinstall the HTC/ATT Sense OS again. I guess you're saying active synch doesn't need to be working in order to do that. I'm at work now--have to wait until i get home. Nothing to lose at this point.
But I'm seriously wondering whether the problem is the OS install or whether there is something in the device that is supposed to read the ROM and start the bootup that is just wearing out.
Thanks.
"No Image File"
The quick little flash of white screen has "No image file" in blue letters--goes by so fast you can hardly see it.

That error message is 'normal'. Basically the phone checks the SD card for a file labeled "RHODIMG.nbh". If said file exists, it will flash from it. If no file exists, or no SD present - it continues loading bootloader and should say "Serial" at the bottom. This indicates that it's ready to be flashed. If you plug in your USB cable, it will install some drivers and then it should change to "USB" at the bottom instead of "Serial".
Now you should be ready to flash from a normal RUU. I would recommend flashing STOCK, because this flashes everything.
It might also be good to note a lot of people have experienced something similar - the phone getting "stuck" in bootloader mode, and only occasionally making it to WinMo. I'd guess it's failing hardware in some way shape or form, as none of my RHOD's or RAPH's have ever done this.
Good News--at least for now
Good news--I hooked it up to the computer with the USB cable for awhile and the Windows 7 computer did set up some drivers. For some reason after I disconnected it I reset it, and the reboot worked. Then I immediately uninstalled the squirrely reset program and removed it.
Everything I installed yesterday is working fine--I have soft reset it about 5 times now and each time it has rebooted. So I think maybe I'm back in business. Too soon to tell--but we will pray and keep our fingers crossed.
Thanks so much for your time and help. I don't know how to use the thanks meter but I would have if I could have.

You're welcome. Basically if I or someone else posts something helpful, click the "Thanks" button under that post.
15 hours later, Tilt 2 is still working fine on the newly installed Sense OS. I have rebooted freely (using the stylus button on the side) since removing the program "Rax Reset," and everything seems to be going well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and will end my contributions to this thread with a warning about using "Rax Reset."
Thanks to all.
So a few hours back I picked up my phone, but it didn't respond. A few minutes earlier it worked fine, and now it just seems dead. I cannot launch recovery mode or download mode. The phone does not respond to me holding the power button or something, there is no vibration and no visuals on the screen. Removing the battery and plugging it back in does not work. Leaving it charge for a while does not work. (assuming that it even charges). When I plug in the phone into my PC via cable I hear a sound that something is connected, but it doesn't show up on 'My PC'.
What do I do?
The same happened to my sister! Nothing worked, probably the motherboard died. Used it at leaset for spare parts for my other s4 mini. Especially the LED panel is so precious, it's cost is like half the price of the phone.

Can the motherboard really die like that? One moment its fine, the next second dead?

Yeah, likely. I ain't a geek or sth, but the same happened to my sister. Was looking for a solution for hours, but it's probably some random variation in voltage or sth that burns some part on it and then it dies. You don't have to crack the phone etc., it can happen randomly.

Wouldn't a broken motherboard make my PC unable to make a sound when it's connected? Also, when it's connected to the PC and i hold the power button for ~15 seconds, it disconnects. This would mean that the power button still functions

Then it's deffinitely NOT completely broken. A dead MB would definitely NOT identify the phone in the PC.
Did u try entering Download mode & connecting to ODIN, trying to load FW again?

FW = Firm Ware i.e. software that is flashed onto chips. aka ROM.
But if you can't go to download mode you can't flash stock ROM again. So Yes sounds likely some component has failed or maybe just a bad solder joint, a short, etc) which is not allowing power up,( either way you need someone to fix hardware & install stock using jtag for you, probably not worth the cost on our old phones in most countries. but if you can buy a used phone with eg a damaged screen or other problem you may be able to get 1 working phone by swapping parts eg power board ...
The same happened to me last august... I posted here, but no one ever helped me https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/help/weird-bricked-gt-i9195-stuck-black-t3619023 i just think that it's some kind of programmed obsolescence, my phone was 4 years old and it just shut off and never light up again after closing a simple call... F*** Sammy and their timers!
Just happened my nephews phone. Was intermittently responding to buttons and now not at all. PC detects it and shows as "HS-USB Diagnostics 9008" in Device Manager.
There are a couple of guides online for using applications on the PC to interact with the phone using this device ID, but it seems to be mainly focused on LG phones. Anyone know if there's anything that can be done for Samsung devices?
The exact thing happend to my S4, it suddenly turnd of while im using it, did anyone find a solution?
