[HELP] LG G3 D855 (Bricked) - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a G3 D855. It was rooted on 4.4.2, i was trying to unroot it and mistakenly erased the 'aboot' through fastboot (Totally My bad). after seeing hundred of videos and reading threads i de-assembled the phone for short pin because my phone was dead but when i plug the usb cable device manager shows 'LGE Android net'. after short pinning while the battery is out phone screen turns on displaying battery icon but i receive the error of USB NOT RECOGNIZE. changed the cables installed every version of drivers + qualcomm drivers, disabled the driver signing on the windows but still same message.
Help please. its getting on my nerves now.

*Solved* LG G3 No longer connects to PC via MTP/PTP - Only Charge-only

Hi Guys,
A weird one here for you, I'm already contemplating throwing my phone at a wall that's how long I've been trying to fix it.
I have a LG G3 D855 Gold 32gb model purchased via Kogan in Australia.
The unit is now on Android 5.0 (no updates available for 5.1+) - Software Version V20i-SEA-XX with Build number LRX21R.A1440645925.
This phone is non-rooted with stock ROM etc.
So the issue at hand, I upgraded my Win7 PC via the upgrade option to Win10 to retain my games/files etc.
Now when connecting the phone to the PC it only goes to charging mode and I am unable to click on it within the drop-down to change it to anything else.
I have tried LG G3 drivers, Googles generic drivers, ADB suite drivers. I am unable to adb find the phone, I do not have an Acer Composite device in Device Manager.
Win 10 keeps saying the device is not recognised/malfunctioned.
Tried different cords, double checked the connector on the phone for any dust specs etc.
My PC refuses to work with any driver I have thrown at it, however in each scenario with various drivers, warnings still persist in Device Manager.
Some of the drivers force the phone to connect/reconnect and cause the "ping" sound each time it disconnects and reconnects (with malfunction warning prompts).
This is on Win10 with 64bit Home edition.
I am at my wits end and can't think of anything I haven't tried beyond a factory reset of my phone (hoping not to at this stage as I'm thinking it's driver-related).
It won't let me tether or anything via USB also, same goes with USB debugging, no change.
Lastly which may also help narrow it down, with the phone plugged in BEFORE it gets to the OS, I can change between PTP/MTP and USB charge, however once the Win10 OS loads up, it disconnects/malfunctions and lists Charge Only.
And yes, this phone can connect on my Win7 small PC which I use for testing crap out on.
Any ideas guys?
Let me know if any log files or anything is required.
At this stage I am unable to do a root to the phone (due to adb issues etc) nor can I connect to the internal phone system unless I use in the in-built file explorer.
Edit: *SOLVED*
Ok so turns out the issue is, and this is just my case, my motherboard has various utilities, one of which is a USB 3.0 boost option.
When I did an upgrade to Windows 10, it somehow screwed up various programs on my PC including registry etc.
I reinstalled the particular utility (I was actually trying to fix my graphics clock etc so happy coincidence) which also re-installs the USB 3.0 Boost software which in turn has fixed my USB Ports.
So if you have a custom built PC (my Motherboard being a Rampage 4 Formula). Check the Mobo Utilities/Drivers for any conflicts.
I have the exact same problem, and I can't seem to find a solution for months now. It's really annoying and depressing

Using the drivers on that page you have advised gives the following.
Device Manager shows a Warning on it in USB controllers as "LGE Mobile USB Composite Device". It automatically "malfunctions" according to Windows 10 and I can't change the connection interface on the phone.
Going into the properties on that device in Device Manager lists the following;
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A device which does not exist was specified.

Fixed my problem
I've had the same issue with my LG G3 in being unable to connect the device to my laptop. I'm not sure if the cause was a phone software update or the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Either way, I searched and fixed it tonight by installing updated drivers. Hope this helps others as well.

LG G3 (F400S): No sound, no USB OTG and it is not recognized by my laptop

Hi everyone, I bought an LG G3 Korean version (F400S) unlocked recently. It is a good phone but I am experiencing three annoying issues (out of the box) with the phone and they are:
1. NO sound at all from the back loudspeaker. The volume is set to maximum, there is no sound from music, video, notifications, touch sound effects, or even ringtone! Surprisingly, when I connect my earphones, there is sound in my earphone, when I remove the earphone, absolutely NO SOUND from the loudspeaker. The sound from ear speaker (the one used to make call) works. I have tested the ringtone in the Hidden Menu, when the ringtone is being played, there is no sound at all.
2. The LG G3 charges well when connected with the charger and when connected with my laptop as well. However, whenever I connect the LG G3 to my laptop, it only charges, it is NOT RECOGNIZED by my laptop. I have the LG Mobile driver installed (downloaded from the LG website (Korea website)), the LG PC Suite installed, the LG Mobile Phone Support Tool installed. Whatever I do, changes the USB cable/ USB port, try in different windows version (Windows 7, 8.1 and 10), USB debugging on and off, reinstall driver, reinstall driver from the option in LG PC Suite, restart the PC several times, NOTHING happens. It is not recognized at all in my laptop. ALSO I cannot see any thing related to LG driver in the Device Manager.
3. USB OTG does not work. I have tried with a working OTG cable to connect a pendrive in my LG G3, it is not recognized, even in the File Explorer of the phone. The cable and pendrive is however detected in my other android device.
The Android version of my LG G3 is Android 4.4.2 (I have received only one update for improving Google experience (about 10 MB).
The Kernel version is 3.4.0
The build number is KVT49L.F400S11a
Software version is F400S11a
Please help me, I have googled for the problems, searched in Youtube as well but no solutions. The phone was bought online, it is original but I have no warranty and even if i need to repair, I will have to send it back to China, which will be money and time consuming. Please help me.

Thanks for the reply, I tried your suggestion, but it did not work. Again, when I tried to connect the LG G3 to the PC so as to flash with the KDZ, it says on the taskbar: 'The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it'. In the Device Manager, I get USB Device Not Recognized (Error Code 43), Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Error Code 43. I googled this issue as well no success, I reinstalled the LG Drivers, rebooted my PC, again NO LG DRIVERS in the Device Manager, and whenever I connect the LG G3 I get the same message I mentioned above. Hence, I cannot upgrade to the v20F version as I cannot connect the device to my PC.
UPDATE: I cannot put the device in download mode for flashing. I hold the volume up button while connecting the cable to the USB 2.0 port. The LG logo appears on the phone and it just charges. Also, I have tried to remove everything related to the drivers and reinstall, now I do not have the Error Code 43, BUT still the phone is not recognized.

Pull the battery
Only press the volume up button while connecting the cable to the USB port.
Let me know if that works. It sounds like your pressing the power button first, pressing volume up and then plugging the usb cable in
If it doesnt theres also the adb method as well that i can tell you after

First update your drivers on your computer. If that won't work try different ports. USB 2.0 or 3.0 can make a huge difference. Your speaker is probably dead. And i don't have any experience with USB OTG so I can't help you with that

Already tried that with the '15-sec ADB' something like that + with Android studio, I have searched on youtube and google how to do it, but nothing happen when I enter the command, it just says that device not found. Whenever I connect a pendrive or my other phones to my PC, I can see in device manager, it refreshes and the driver for that particular device appears. BUT there is NO refresh nor any driver appearing when connecting the LG G3. Today I tried it with my friend's USB cable (he has the LG G3 (D855), it does not detect as well in his PC but his phone is detected in his PC. I really do not know what is the matter :crying:

No, i am still having the same issue. I think with an update it will be okay (but I have not received any update till now! I am stuck with Kitkat 4.4.2). If it is a hardware problem I will have to return it or replace the USB port or motherboard.

LG Flash Tool /Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

Hi
LG G3 D855 OS Android 5 V21c-TWN-xx
I am trying to upgrade to MM via the subject Flash Tool but it gets as far as 15% and then a Window pops up telling me
that the Phone has been disconnected and to reconnect and retry.
The phone is still connected and showing as such in explorer. I re-installed the drivers and still the same problem.
Tried compatibility mode Win 8 and the same thing happens. Anyone have this problem in Win 10 or know of a way round it.
I also have a WIn 8.1 Laptop which I used to update to the current OS with Flash Tool 2014 but it is now stopping and giving an error
"This programme has stopped working MS is checking Blah Blah"
Stransky
Having the same issue here with D852
Reinstall G3 usb drivers
hi, have you tried LGUP method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624353&postcount=3

LG Up shows phone as "unknown" no matter what I do.
I also have a G Flex 2 and this shows up ok in LG Up.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I downgraded from MM to LP two days ago. I had the little window saying "unknown "
The problem was that windows wasn't seeing my phone. I unplug the cable and plug it back and it worked. As I wrote before I am using windows 7.
Hi
Managed to get LG Tool 2014 to work and D855 now on v30b (MM) global.xx. Problem was driver related. I downloaded Win 10 G3 specific driver from LG site and everything then worked.
good to know pal.
i have lg g2 mini
the keyboard dos not start and my phone has number password
what can i do to restor my phone?
it is not root
I have windows 10 pro and i get same problem, i have solved this with driver usb install (sorry for my poor english)
Found my old LG-VS450PP Optimus Exceed 2 for Verizon. It was working fine when put away.
Charged the battery on a working phone (same model) but this recently resurrected phone will not boot up. Same results using vol+ / power or just power button regardless of sequencing battery out/usb cord in or out.
Gives error "boot certification verify" and then shuts down. Back light remains lit.
I can get it to open into another screen (Vol- / power) that offers four options: continue reboot, factory data reset, wipe cache, safe mode boot. Selecting any of those options results in the unit shutting down.
Vol+ plus power do not open Download window.
While it fails to boot, I can still see two folders on my Win 7 PC: image and verinfo. Image contains numerous files . So the phone IS connected to the PC but there appears to be something else that fails to initiate "connection" as far as the LG Flash tool 2014 is concerned. Any suggestions welcome.
Thinking of last resorts, I read somewhere of shorting a test point on the board but can't find directions for this model.
This web site is goog and helpfull for me.

Is my LG d858hk bricked?

I think I may have bricked my LG d858hk by using this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecd858hk to flash TWRP. I have Marshmallow 6.0 on phone but may have mistakenly used wrong Lollipop app. Now my phone won’t boot – just get a black screen with red/blue led flashing. Could the problem have caused because I’d use (d858hk) Lollipop instead of (d858hk) Marshmallow app? I’m trying to unbrick the phone, but my PC doesn’t recognise phone now since using Lollipop app. It gives a message on PC screen: “USB device not recognised The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it.” I’m using windows 10 64 bit.
Is there any way anyone can help me to solve this problem and get PC to recognise phone again, so I can (maybe) at least get back to factory setup? :fingers-crossed:

Unable to flash ROM due to PC not recognizing device

Hello friends!
New registered user here but have already read tons of threads regarding G3 troubleshooting. Anyway, have decided to post this problem and if a similar situation has already been posted (and solved), please provide link.
For some strange reason, my G3 have decided to stay in the LG logo (I understand that this is the so-called boot-loop). This happened when the phone suddenly restarted while watching a YT vid and the battery still at 30%++. The phone just keeps on restarting until such a time that it never got pass the LG logo.
Here are the things that I have already tried to no avail:
1. Enter Hard Reset page via hardware keys (Power + Vol Up buttons). Have chosen "Yes" to hard reset device but alas, it never got pass the LG logo.
2. Downloaded PC suite, KDZ flashtool, and LGUP. Installed all three software. Connected G3 to PC and entered download mode (Vol Down while inserting USB cable). Unfortunately, unable to fully use either of the three software since the PC cannot detect G3.
Number 2 is quite strange since I have downloaded and installed all G3 drivers. This I know since a friend of mine who owns a working G3 unit was detected by the computer and can sync with the PC suite.
For some strange reason, everytime I connect my broken G3 to the computer, it is not detected by the PC and was not even listed in the device manager.
Any help and advise would be highly appreciated
I already downloaded all necessary tools (KDZ, LGUP, and flashtool) to flash the ROM but I need the PC to see the G3 unit to be able to do so.
By the way, before the bootloop scenario: the debugging (or is it developer?) options are disabled and I'm not sure if the bootloader is locked or unlocked.
I hope all this info is of any use.
Thanks a lot in advance
Have you tried simpler solutions first? Like, trying another USB ? Or another USB port from your pc? This maybe hardware related rather than software. You should try that before anything else. (Maybe you did?)

Thanks for the reply. Yup, have done those. Tried a different cable, different USB port, and borrowed a working G3 unit. The good G3 unit was detected by the PC but when I connect my broken G3 (same cable and same USB port), the PC does not detect it (not even listed in device manager).
Because of this hurdle, I couldn't flash with LGUP (it states no handset was connected). The KDZ flashtool basically says the same message.
By the way, my debugging options are disabled before this whole problem started. Could that be a reason why the PC won't detect the unit?
