I am wondering if it's possible to unlock the CDMA version of the LG G3 to work with GSM.
I know that it worked with Mobile Family in the US (which uses on T-mobile towers) but now I am using the phone outside the United States, and it doesn't work with my GSM sim card.
There is a way to bring the unlock panel for every variant using the code

9245*#model number#
but that didn't work on my US Cellular.
So please if anyone know what to do, I'd appreciate your help.

sorry I don't have an answer to your question but actually was wondering if you had to do anything you had to do to get your LG G3 to work with Mobile Family. Did you have to unlock anything? I've been debating about picking up a used US Cellular LG G3 from craigslist to see if it would work with a GSM carrier in the US but wasn't sure if I would need to do any unlocking. If you could let me know i'd super appreciate it. Thanks!

I haven't used it myself, but when I bought the LG G3 from ebay, I shipped it to my Fiancée, and she tested it for me and said the gsm worked, when I asked her what sim she used, she said it was Mobile family.
And my Fiancée isn't tech savvy, so I am pretty sure there was nothing done to make it work with Mobile Family.

I think this gives me hope that perhaps it comes sim unlock like the verizon LG G3..... but I don't really understand why the phone would work with a domestic carrier like family mobile and not work abroad. Perhaps the carrier you're trying to use it with does not operate on the right cellular bands that the phone supports.

it's not unlocked out of box but I hear that you can go to a US Cellular store to have them unlock it.
You can unlock it as you would a sprint G3. First flash the sprint lg g3 tot file in lg flash tool. I have an octopus box so i then repaired the nvm and security and repaired the original Imei back on to the phone. I'm sure if you don't have a box you can just write a Qcn But be sure the Qcn has the Imei removed or else it will mess with your Imei. And after that root it flash a custom recovery and follow the instructions and flash either the cloudy G3 rom for the g3 and when it ask you with variant you have Choose ls990 not us990. Or if you like the primegsm rom you can flash it as well. Be sure to follow the instructions for that one . They're slightly different . Any questions juat ask me and I'll help out

i tried with pc directly but couldn't overwrite Qcn , i did install cloudy g3 custom rom but no gsm signal , i will use a octopus to flash the qcn file from a ls990 , wich me luck
So this US Cellular G3 can be unlocked to use international gsm simcard @dloopy ?
everything is possible simply look in the right direction, there is no need to insert QCN another variant, BUMP! your US990, root, TWRP and flash Any ROM GSM available in XDA

My g2 was a sprint cdma i unlocked it using cloudy on it had it on tmob and att
LG US990 is not a gsm capable phone due to its hardware
so sad if its get bricked just because you push it to work on gsm
Are you sure of this? I am new ro LG and want to know if i need to return the phone for another GSM capable device.

I had this done for me.. Confirmed US Cellular LG G3 working on GSM in Dom Rep. I would like to know how I can update firmware or flash a Rom.. dont know how

So the USC LG G3 DOES work on gsm? would it work on at&t?

Can anyone confirm that the USCC variant of the G3 actually does work on GSM networks? I can get it to work on LTE by manually entering the APN information but it will not make calls or text. So this shows me that the device is at the very least carrier locked as far as 2g/3g/HSPA are involved. On a side note, the G4 and G5 variants on USCC support all networks out of the box. The only thing that is necessary is to manually add the APN of your carrier.

I need NVM or QCN from working LG E986. After resurrect phone by JTAG interface, network signal is very poor. Some network is not find. Anyone help?
Hi guys in urgent need of your opinions. When I went to an LG service centre after my phone died they replaced my mobo (E988 Singapore) with an E980 one. Soon after before I managed to root and unlock its bootloader I checked through the device details and the funny thing is that I realised it doesn't tally with any AT&T or non-AT&T E980 models as the model number was just listed as E980 and if I remember correctly the version number for the firmware listed it as an EU device?
I went forward with modding the phone and everything went well until recently when I tried to switch recoveries from CWM to TWRP. Unfortunately due to the confusion regarding my hardware (whether it was really an E980 or E988) I mucked up the process and am left with soft bricked device. Any ideas how to fix this? I don't know which KDZ file to flash for my situation. Please help me solve this as I really need to use the device urgently.
I think you'd be fine just treating it as an e980 and flashing back to stock
So I should just use any of the E980 kdz? I don't wanna risk hard bricking the device but I'll try it when I get the chance.
