the update via OTA doesn't work it just opens the recovery and if OTA is manually installed by recovery from data/data/org.lineage.update/ (don't remember the exact folder name) then the ROM gets corrupted so I had to dothe complete wiping of partitions and reinstalling of recovery, boot, droidboot, ROM, Gapps, SU. Can any one suggest me the easy and safe way to update because of the update Arrives weekly then doing all these sorts of things from scratch is pain in the ass and I have to mentioned the hard pain of installing all the apps and setting the phone again. Yes I did the backup of the previous ROM, BOOT, SPLASH i.e, all the important partitions and when the update failed and ROM corrupted I tried restoring the backup and it restored but actually it doesn't and I was not able to boot to the system the phone always directly boot to the recovery no matter what I do!
Your not the first to experience this type of issue.
You'll need to manually download it from:
https://download.lineageos.org/
Select the top left menu and go to your device and download the update.

Installing update via recovery
Do I need to wipe the existing ROM before installing weekly updates ??
If no, then will my apps and their data gets erased or remains unaffected while installing the update ? Please suggest and thanks in advance !

No, you don't need to wipe. All your apps and data remains.
Hello:
I am doing ota updates which works fine but then I have to manually go back into recovery and run the SU file so that some of my apps needing SU permissions can run. Is there an easier way to do this?

Use the official superuser add-on, and it will persist after OTA, otherwise you will need to reflash.

I had the same issue with my Sm-g900f aka Samsung S5 and my phone would also keep going to bootloop no matter what rom I flashed or how I flashed it (clean, dirty etc). In the end I switched for Philz touch recovery to twrp and that solved the problem instantly. Since u have the problem with twrp u can try cwm or Philz recovery to see if it works. No harm in trying right!

I often get the notification that nightly ota updates for lineage are available but whenever I go to the updates and try to download it, the download becomes unsuccessful after about 3 to 5 mins. I've tried turning off any permissions that may force close the download but to no avail. I also don't think it's an Internet issue as all other downloads and sites work perfectly. Am I the only one facing this problem coz all of u seem to have problems when u are flashing the ota. Is this an issue with the lineage updater app and if so how can I fix it ( considering I can). Waiting for a reply.
I installed 20170525 nighty
But aslo showing to update for same...Why?
It also being failure to update repeatly.

I've also experienced receiving an update notification for the same Nightly build as already installed, I just disregard it and set the update check to Manual.
This is a known issue and is something that the Lineage Developers have been working on.

You can manually download them from the following link.
https://download.lineageos.org
When your there, go to the top left portion of the website and press the 3 line menu then select your devices manufacturer name then your device model from that menu.
Then you'll see the last several official releases there and select the one you want to download.

If your trying to downgrade your firmware then you can't. You will have to redo the installation over again with the downgraded version.

Rename 1st 12mb update file "update".
Put it into the sdcard (don't put into any folder).
Now go to settings/about phone/system update/check for update.
It will show you that you have a update file into sd card.. Install it .
Phone will be rebooted automatically ..
Now do same thing with the second 7mb update file..
Note: - ..this update files only for those users are having build kk S002...

Hello guys!
I flashed Marshmallow for the K4 note from http://www.techolite.com/35528/lenovo-k4-note-marshmallow-6-0-update-official.html and it works smoothly with some bugs here and there.
Okay so coming to the bootloader unlock part,
After flashing Marshmallow, which definitely works,
Enable Developer Options in the Setting by tapping on 'Build Number' under About Phone in settings in Device Information
Then go back
Now you'll see a new option called 'Developer Options'
Click on it
Check for 'Enable OEM Unlock'
then move the switch to 'ON'
Enable USB Debugging
Connect your device to the PC
then open command prompt
navigate to adb(You need adb and fastboot)
now under command prompt type 'adb reboot-bootloader'
now your phone will reboot to Fastboot Mode
Now in CMD type 'fastboot OEM Unlock'
then on your device,
Press the 'Volume UP button'
your device will be formatted and will reboot to fastboot again.
Press and hold the Power button and it will shut down and then press and hold again and your device will start
NOTE:-This Bootloader unlock must be performed by advanced users, Also the Marshmallow ROM can't be rooted using kingroot Thats the only downside.. But still..
I tested this 'RIGHT NOW' and just typed this thread in case a developer can now create ROMs and stuff.
This is my first 'Development Related thread' so if this isn't the right place to place it, please move it if necessary
Do press THANKS if this helped you in any way.

Yeah sure
But could you share its screenshot or a pic by other phone
Just do this
Connect your bootloader unlocked phone to pc
Usb debugging on
In cmd type adb rebbot bootloader
Now in fastboot mode type
fastboot getvar all
Now provide pic of the result of this command.
I recommend adding a text of your name on pic so to avoid other's claim but don't place any text to hide any info other than IMEI.

If you are having problems installing TWRP you should be posting on that thread for answers, after reading the posts.
By default TWRP shows only .zip files under the Install tab. There is a check box for showing .img files instead. Check that and you will be able to install a .img file.

any fix?
update: after updating google play service, i went rooting it with odin, but then it stuck on boot. i forgot to make backup. what to do to recover my data? my twrp is missing too now.

cm13 is pre rooted you just have to enable it in setting develper options.
try reinstalling the cm13.zip without wiping you may be able to recover your data

Going to try it. I'll post update later.
By the way, i managed to install twrp using odin. A question, if i backup only data partition, install the cm13.zip, then flash the data will my apps data be restored?
i was on 12.1, just updated it without realising its cm 13.
sorry if i'll be bothering you all with noob questions im new to this.
Update:
Flashed 13, my data is thankfully okay. thankyou darknessd31
The only thing that is still bugging me is the "settings>apps" that can't be opened, always giving off message "unfortunately, settings has stopped".
hope it can be fixed

Any suggestion? I can fastboot-flash mostly anything
M2 801L - English UK Stock Lollipop Firmware
Does anyone have the M2 801L - English UK Stock Lollipop Firmware?
I'm stuck on boot loop. I used TWRP to flash boot.img, and now I got ERROE 10 NO SYSTEM.
I reflashed the stock recovery and tried to flash all the available UPDATE.APP on the internet but didn't get me anywhere.
since it's still under warranty, I'll drop it off.

Sorry for the late reply. But honestly trying the warranty repair would.habe been my choice as well. Did they help you on warranty if I may ask!?
Mine's away the second time now. First time the eMMC has been corrupted and wasn't working any longer, where they replaced the Mainboard and a new IMEI was given to it. This time the IMEI got erased and read 000000000000000. They received it on friday 2 pm, repaired it and sent it back via UPS the same day. Will arrive on monday. Done on warranty as well.
Never the less this'll be my last Huawei. To many defects within the warranty person and bad update policy.

[SOLVED] How to apply OTA update with TWRP & Magisk root? Apply latest Factory image
I have Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with TWRP & latest Magisk 14.0 and Magisk Manager 5.4.3. Running MIUI 9.1 Global Stable 9.1.1.0. It is working great! I was just notified of an OTA update 9.1.2.0 from Xiaomi. How do I apply it without losing data & root? Thanks!
Edit - [SOLVED] see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74706923&postcount=8
Same question here, I am on Global beta 7.11.6 and want to Update to 7.12.1 but Update doesnt work because twrp is installed as recovery?
Normally for an OTA to be installed it needs the stock recovery otherwise it will fail during checks. So you would have to flash stock recovery and then you could take or flash OTA then you would have to re-root and flash TWRP

OK. Thanks. So best would be to wait until factory image of 9.1.2.0 is available and flash it over the top of current via TWRP?
I'm remembering a tool from when I had Nexus 5 called FlashFire. Wonder if that would work?

Yeah you could do that or wait for one of the developer to update their factory rom to flash over top. I just checked out the flash fire app and it gave a warning about Xiaomi devices not tested to use caution if you want to try

Very interesting.
I'm surprised that the OTA installed on a rooted device with TWRP recovery. That will usually not work.

No, the password used to unlock your phone after one normal boot, so of course not one schema.
If you have Schema, you must change Schema system by password system...

Thanks for your reply. Now I know it was obvious but if you consider that this is my first Xiaomi device you'll understand my question.
Would you please link me something relevant about how to start modding in mix 2 that is not in OP right now? It would really help me.. I know it's possible to find many guides by googling but you know, something suggested by an expert user is always better than the first one found online
Thanks a lot! [emoji106]

HI,
I have a redmi5+ rooted. I use luckypatcher (i applied some patchs to some apps) and i have installed once BusyBox (didn't do anything in special).
I want to know if it is secure to flash the full update?
PS: how do I confirm if the system files and vendor are ok to proceed?
Thanks
