MTP, PTP and ADB not detected on any computer/OS - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm having a variety of strange issues on my Yakju (international GSM version) Galaxy Nexus.
I've been repairing the hardware after my sister broke the phone (broken screen). The phone was working fine, but I was worried moisture would get inside the cracked glass of the screen (glass pieces were missing). However, the phone also had trouble launching the camera, causing all camera apps to crash.
I replaced the screen, back and front camera, and the usb port (connection problems in the past) with new components. The device works except for:
- front camera makes any camera app crash back camera works fine
- the phone is not detected on Windows or MacOS (except for once on MacOS somehow) but fastboot works perfectly.
USB connection used to work fine and I've been flashing CM11 through TWRP and CM13 as well (connection issues seem to have started after CM13).
Fastboot being my only option, I completely reset the device to stock 4.3. Same issue. Tried 4.0.4. Same issue. The reset was originally intended to fix the front camera issue following this thread
I used this guide for fastboot factory reset.
Been working on this all day and I'm running out of ideas. I'm gonna try to swap the old components back, or perhaps flash 4.2.2 because that seems to work the best for people. If anyone has had similar issues or can think of something I might have missed any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Camcorder Freezes

Hi
Basically been having this problem for a while now and its starting to bug me. I rooted my phones ago now, and until recenlty the camcorder worked fine on all ROMS, however recently been facing a big problem with it. Every time I launch camcorder on any ROM my phone will freeze and have to take battery out and restart. I unrooted it and installed stock and it worked fine (so it can't be the SD card) re rooted again installed RSK and boom same problem. Does anyone have solutions to this?
Thanks in advance
If I remember correctly, the aroma installer gives you the option to change between two with a warning about one not recording. Also, have you tried another third party app to see if that works? You may also want to try taking the battery cover off and pressing (not too firmly) over the camera window and on the metal sheilding around it. It might have slightly disloged from the upper board but try the software first.
If you start noticing the notification LED, receiver (earspeaker) or camera flash not working as well, then it may need the upper board reconnecting to the main board and you should send it in for repair, but this is a pretty thin possibility, as I said, software first.

[Q] Replacement Camera

Hello all, first post here. I did some searching here and google but I can't find anything definitive. I recently DIY'd a cracked screen, everything went smoothly touch screen and everything is working. I followed a detaield tutorial on youtube from phonedoctors.com After rebooting the phone, the front facing camera didn't work at all, and the main camera worked for about a day. Now when I open the camera app it's just a black screen, all the buttons work but still a blackscreen of nothingness. I've gone into the "secret menu" through the phone keypad and tested the camera, the main one came up the first time but now it won't at all. I took the phone back apart last night and rechecked all the connections on the board and everything seemed fine. I guess my question is this, is there something else I might be able to check, or am I looking at a hardware issue. If so, is it possible to replace both cameras on the S3. I see the replacement parts in online stores but no directions on replacing the parts. I completely unrooted and factory reset the device as well to no avail, so I went ahead and rerooted the device and currently running CM 10.0 the most stable. Just looking for some guidance, I've tried to give as much info as possible. Thanks for reading!:good:
Regards,
Matthew
PS Just removed everything again, unplugged the main camera from the board and redid everything. No dice...
I've recently tried a known "working" camera as well with no luck. I've come to the conclusion that it might be something wrong witht he board which means I'm out of luck on getting this resolved. Unless someone else has had a similar issue and fixed it?

Zenfone 2 ZE550ML camera KO after screen replacement

A few days ago I have ordered and then replaced the LCD of my Zenfone 2. Sending it back to repair the display was as expensive as buying a new phone, so I decided to take the risk. I followed the instructions I found on the internet and I succeded. Both touch and display work after replacement, and all other components work too, except for camera functions. Now when I open any camera app (Google Camera, Zenfone Pixelmaster camera and so on) I get the infamous "camera failed to launch, please reboot your device". After cleaning up both application cache and system cache (I have even tried flashing an older firmware version) I decided to check both the flat cables connecting the front camera and rear camera to the phone's motherboard, with no success.
Any clue about how to proceed ?
Any chance that trying a different ROM (such as Cyanogen) might fix my problem ?
I have read that many users are experiencing that nefarious camera message, however I haven't found any effective solution so far, and without a clue I can't figure out if one of the two cameras is broken or damaged...
Suggestions ?
Thanks in advance and have a nice day

UPDATE 1: installed CM 12.1 following tutorial. Everything working except for camera. Tried both Google stock camera app and A Better Camera (free trial). Google stock says "cannot connect to camera" A Better camera shows a black background and does nothing else...
UPDATE 2
I just received a spare Zenfone 2 from another guy that, after breaking the screen, decided to sell it for spare parts instead of repairing it.
I have turned it on as soon as it arrived via mail and..guess what ? Camera issue is there too!
I have tried the following:
1) swap both camera modules and motherboard to my Zenfone 2
2) vice versa (put my camera modules on the newly received motherboard)
3) hard reset and reload all system images on both phones.
Issue is still unsolved. I'm starting to think that the camera problem is a "sort of anti tampering" implemented by Asus.
As soon as you unscrew the phone, something breaks - or at least detects the tampering - blocking the camera.
There's no other way to explain...
Any suggestion ? Did anyone effectively solved the problem ?
Please, don't leave me alone in this thread..

ZENFONE 2: camera failed to launch
Dear Azrahel
My Zenfone 2 phone exactly encountered the same problem, probably because of a software update/installation and so on. I simply rebooted the phone into the SAFE MODE (simply long press the power button then LONG TAP the shutdown then confirm the reboot into the safe mode). In the safe mode I found that the camera works normally. Then I simply rebooted the phone (in order to enter the normal environment) and now the camera works! I hope that you can fix the bug by this simple process.
Did you find a solution for this? I'm encountering the same issue after I replaced the display. The connectors seem to be in well. Maybe I broke something small internally without even knowing and that causes both cameras not to function.

Rear camera/Flashlight not recognized

My rear camera suddenly stopped working. My phone didn't get any hurt in nowhere, just suddenly it stopped working. I was takin photos since 10 minutes before, I locked the phone and I noticed that Torch tile disappeared. I thought it was a bug and I didn't care anymore. The day before I noticed that even rear camera stopped working, I was trying to take a photo but the "change camera" (from front to rear) disappeared in every camera app I was using, camera apps opened by default with front camera opened. I tried to reflash ROM thinking that it was a ROM problem (even if I was using the same rom since months ago and I've never had any kind of problem), no results. Reflashing everything starting from stock firmware, no results. As a last hope, I tried to replace the rear camera by buying a new one, but the problem it's still here. Could someone that experienced the same problem, tell me where the problem could be? Or maybe some possible fixes, every kind of help is appreciated. Thanks.
Same
I have the exact same problem. After wiping the cache the rear camera is recognised and I am able to take a picture with it (which is not saved into gallery) but about 5 minutes later the option to switch to rear camera has gone and all camera apps (including social media such as snapchat) is stuck on front camera. This leads me to think it's not a hardware problem but rather that of software with which I am running cm13 nightlies that I have updated every day for the past week in the hope it will be patched.
I have this exact same problem on my d855 too..!
Sooooo frustrating, I've been looking everywhere for a fix, tried full factory reset the other day (I'm running full regular stock with no root or anything), and sadly that didn't work either... I'm glad to read someone has tried changing the camera hardware, cos that was I step I've considered taking, but I now know would be a waste of time and money...
But still, the problem persists..!

I don't think that's a software problem simply for one reason: I'm on the same rom and kernel since months and camera worked fine. It stopped working suddenly with no reason.

Yeah now you made me understand why the camera worked for some minutes. I'll try clearing cache after installing new camera module. I'll report the result. Thanks anyway.
Edit: It's not working. At first boot, systemUI doesn't load well, when I reboot everything works fine but rear camera isn't working. Maybe late I'll try with phone's camera. Now I'm using the new one bought some days ago.
same here!!!!! I'm using LOS13.1 on my d855 and i can't fix it... any idea?
What OS are you guys running? Is everyone experiencing the issue on Cm13?
Also try cleaning the camera connections really well.
I have same problem. Although i expirienced it first time on Lineage OS 14.1. Now 30B, but it still not working. I was listening to music through external speakers, and suddenly it stopped working. Music app was "playing" but i couldnt hear anything and when i exit the app my phone just stops working and starts being laggy as hell. Later that day i found out my camera is not working. I tried reattaching cam connector but it did not work...idk if i should order a new camera or it might be a software fix or something
same problem
happened to me after upgrading to 6.0 , downgraded back to 5 with no luck , even opened my phone and released and reconnected the 3 cables inside with no luck at all . don't know what to do
It's "good" to see other people with the same problem as me.
I replaced the camera and it still won't work.
I'm afraid that it might the problem with our motherboard...How can software block our camera even tho all of us fully reinstalled ROMs/Modems etc? It would be awesome if dev would see this and tell us what is the actual cause of this
If you reinstalled the entire OS using a TOT method, no files are left behind. This is more likely a hardware issue.
The Camera module is extremely close to the problematic hot chip on the G3 so it's not impossible something got messed up.
I have a d852 in Canada that doesn't get hot and I'm having this problem too. Going to order a new camera since I know this is a hardware issue. Hopefully fixed the issue. Not cool having no rear camera or flashlight
It's impossible Every G3 gets hot...you either are not heavy user or idk...but every G3 that i've held had the issue of overheating at some point...and indeed it can ruin everything...imagine 120C on your processor...that kills everything around it...idk if my processor got that hot as i've seen in some cases it did on internet, but it did go up to 90ish...and that is too damn hot
FIX ISSUE be Done

If u tru turn on flashlight he said (on broke camera) " Immpossible turn on flash light when camera work" !!!!!

Camera issue or phone broken?

I've got the "cannot connect to camera" issue since last summer, but I can still use the camera if I reset my phone once or twice. It became seriously day by day until now, I cannot activate my camera completely. "Flashlight" shows gray in top menu (but flashlight hardware is fine), Google Camera will FC after few seconds I open it.
I saw many threads in XDA and Chinese forums, tried safe mode, factory reset, wipe all data and even flash factory images, relock bootloader by following those instructions but nothing helps. I don't know why because I didn't do anything to my phone and it just naturally became like this. Except for the camera, all the hardwares and softwares as well as functions are working properly, no signs of getting worse.
I'm not sure the camera module or the motherboard has broken or not, anyone still have any ideas to fix this?
