Hello everyone,
since i've just got a new car with a MirrorLink function for apps like Android Auto, HTC Car or just to duplicate the smartphone onto the cars screen, i wondered if there are any Nougat-based Custom Roms that feature MirrorLink?
I tried CM14.1 and Lineage (i know they are the same in a way), but it wont work (i tried everything i could), while on a Non-Root M9 everything works just fine.
Maybe there are some of you already using MirrorLink with a certain Rom and are happy with it?
Thanks!
Lukas

Is it possible to add support for Mirrorlink in an AOSP-ROM?
I currently flashed crDroid 7.1.2-20170817 v3.7, but the question is meant generally. I can't get MirrorLink or even Android Auto working on a Golf Mk 7, 2016 with a Discover Pro (MIB 2 HIGH). Theres just a loop, detecting the device, switching to unknown device and so on.
Tried to install HTC MirrorLink 4.00.935346, etc. pp. but don't get any function working.
Same thing on my girlfriends Desire Eye: With stock ROM it works, after flashing AOSP, it stopps working.
Any hint or any tip to get it working?
No idea, anybody?
Hi!
I'm looking for the most stable GSI for the razer phone. These forums have been pretty dead honestly, so i'm not sure where to go.
Looking for the most up to date, feature complete, not broken GSI - My Pre-requisites are:
- Must support Magisk (i use the aptx-enabling modules that SHOULD have been in stock)
- Not bothered on android version, 8 or 9 will do
- WiFi & Tethering must work, i have an unlimited (without throttling) data plan, but you need WiFi for tethering
- Bluetooth audio must work, not bothered about calls, but music streaming over BT must work
- Generally stable - Stock rom is great, just missing a few features i like
What would your recommendations be?
If you want Magisk, go for one of the 8.1 GSI's, Pixel Experience would get my vote, nice ROM :good:
Peacce
I'll help in liven things up in this forum. Thinking of flashing (is this still the right term for GSI?) Lineage first when I get around to it over Christmas. I'm coming from a Oneplus one with the last few years on cyanogen / lineage, so I'm biased.
I'm using Lineage w/o gapps. I love it. I just wish I could figure out how to get signature spoofing to work so I could still play PokemonGO

Does Lineage (or other GSIs) enable miracast? Stock seems to only allow mirroring to Chromecast devices, which I don't have.
Hi all,
As I have almost no mobile network where I live, I use the "wifi call" option of my Galaxy A3 2017 with an SFR rom (France) to make calls thanks to my wifi connection from my box.
I wanted to know if with a rom like lineage 16, crdroid 6, resurection 3.2.1, Hrom j6, I would still be able to make wifi calls thanks to this native option which is in the phone settings menu?
To be more precise, I am not talking about making wifi calls through applications like whatsapp or other.
A big thank you for your help
If I do not have answers it is because it is not possible or then I am not precise in my request!
Not really a custom rom per-se, but I know the H-rom A7 port does support WiFi calling (VoWIFI), as I use this myself. Port from the A7, debloated and updates the A320 to Pie. I have been using this for several months now with no significant issues. None of the LineageOS based ROM have VoWIFI, which seems to be most if the custom ROM for this phone. Haven't found anything else other than stock which supports VoWIFI, but happy to be corrected if there is. I am very pleased with H-Rom though, definitely would recommend it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series-2017/development/rom-h-rom-a7-port-t3940532
thank you very much for your help.
Is this rom still developed because I only see one download link!
On the other hand I do not know at all this kind of rom, except for the passage in android 9, that it is the difference with the rom stock of the a3 2017 because before I used for another smartphone, roms like lineage or crdroid and I could remove all stock applications.
Thanks again for the help
Hello,
I was given this phone with a request to make it "usable" as a backup device, since it was lagging like hell. At the moment it's running stock sense android 6.0 rom. My question would be, as in title - what would be your current recommendation for this phone? Latest lineage, or some older version of 9.0/8.0?
Best regards
The lightest would probably be newest lineage os without installing google apps.
I'm still using crdroid 4.7 that's on android 8.1 as it's very solid and the few android 10 roms I tried have too many bugs for me.
Yeah, Lineage 17.1.
I'm using that with Pico Gapps. Use my M8 as a media player only (the only app installed is Onkyo HF Player), great DAC, and a HEADPHONE socket!
This is not the fastest device in town, so using it as a phone will be a bit slow.
Oh yeah, if it's the original battery, it won't last long.
Dear all LG G7 users, I would like to create this thread to discuss about ways of using LG G7 with all the basic features working and without Google Apps and Services.
I have a EU G7 with latest firmware and updates (Android 10) This is what I am looking for:
Working USB Tethering Hotspot and WiFi hotspot
Working Gcam
Working Bank Apps
Working microG
Good GPS signal
AOD - Always On Display (if possible)
DT2W - Double Tap to Wake (if possible)
I see there are a few ROMs like LineageOS 18.1, Dot 5, and others. But I am unsure of which one offers the stability I am looking for (not customization). It is ok to use Android 10.
I have downloaded the file from LG to unlock my bootloader, so I am ready my goal is to get rid of Google, and I am aware that with stock rom, even if I like it, it is not possible.
Thanks in advance for everyone who will join the discussion.

I thought custom ROMs based on Android 11 did not have USB tethering. So not even Android 10 based custom ROMs have it? That's strange that a paid app like PDANET allows USB tethering

Because the app itself allow it through their own method. its not using android's implementation. And no, not even android 10 roms have it working on g7
Hi there, I am still here, trying to find a way of minimizing the Google impact in the stock ROM.
Could someone please update me if a custom rom has USB tethering working? And if the answer is still a big NO, is there a way to debloat or degoogle the stock rom via unlocking bootloader and root? Ideally I would love to replace Play Services with microG, or at least remove Play Services while keeping the phone booting. Any advices are appreciated.
EDIT: seems like this is a viable option for me, anyone tried? : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-degoogle-any-device-and-install-microg.4058743/
For other searching here: I just installed AOSPK from Emanuel (telegram group) and it is Android 12 based. Here USB-Tethering works out of the box and the ROM does support signature spoofing so microg can be used right away.
