I've just finished rooting my Kindle Fire HD 8.9, which took forever because Windows wouldn't recognize it and I had to turn to Linux. Anyway, that being said, Ive been trying to download Freedom-Boot-8.5.1 from DEV-HOST and I get nothing but Ads. I get nothing to download the file. Can anyone help me here with this file. I also understand that the Cyanogen project has ended and a new project has begun which will work with nearly every device eventually. I also haven't been able to download CM11. Any help with any of this would be greatly appreciated.

Hey.
Firstly i've had a read around, and can't seem to find any answers.
Tonight i tried to flash kindle back to stock using a video on youtube. Basically said to download the 6.2.2 stock rom, change name on the fire to update.zip then flash that in twrp after doing a system wipe.
I did that - i was coming from a ics rom with fff and twrp on. My kindle boots in to 6.2.2 but then i get application calender storage force close and process android.process.acore force close, and the kindle unsurprisingly just keeps restarting.
Im stuck. Any help or ideas?
When the kindle is on and attached to my pc, it says in device manager android ADB interface but when using KFU it doesnt see the fire (im assuming because its not staying on for long enough?)
Any help would be appreciated - im annoyed at myself! clearly didn't read enough before attempting this.
Thanks.

Can you get into Recovery??
Nope. No recovery on it anymore. Boots straight in to kindle fire stock.
Most likely this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28004774&postcount=10
Thanks dasanko and tera tike. Looks like i will have to try the factory cable see if that works.
Thanks for your help though. I will post back my results here.
Genius!
Well thanks to Tera Tike, all is well again.
Used Basic fire utility and followed tera's instructions, managed to get the fire back in to normal mode, then flashed fff then twrp, now finally back on good old hellfire kindle sandwich!
Man im happy now!
Must make sure to read more thoroughly how to flash back to stock before being a fool again!
I'm rooting a kindle, and some weird things happened while I was rooting it, problems with rooting on Windows 8, But now that I have TWRP and FIREFIREFIRE installed, it won't let me boot to system. It flashes on and off of the shiny kindle Fire screen, then boots to TWRP. KFU says it is in Boot STatus 0x5003. Any help?

Hello, sorry to bump an old thread, but when I tried to boot into normal boot mode, it tells me "The system cannot find the file specified." I have been stuck in this TWRP recovery mode for so long. Even when I get into Normal Boot mode, how do I get JellyBean installed so it loads that ROM? I have the Jellybean ROM files on the Kindle, which I can access via TWRP, but don't know how to install. HELP!!!
Well, right now I did a factory reset of the Kindle and I was able to get the KF back to it's defaults. I copied the Jellybean .zip file and gapps Jellybean .zip file to the root of the KF. I booted into Recovery Mode and I was finally able to see both .zip files when I clicked on Install. I thought I could do the Permanent Root now that I did the factory reset, but once I ran it under KFU, it would go through the process to install TWRP and then boot the KF into TWRP, but it doesn't look like it completed the root. How do I complete it?
In the meantime, I had went into Recovery Mode, went to Install and currently loading Jellybean onto the KF. I'm currently stuck at Verifiying partition sizes and it's been sitting there for a few minutes. How long does it take before it's updated to JB?
System Only boots to TWRP and KFU will not see kindle
I have a Kindle Fire 1... Not the HD when I got it in Dec of 2011 I got some help to get TWRP and CM7 Installed on it, and it worked great until a couple of days ago and now there is no help in the kindle fire room anymore so I was wondering if there is someone out there who would be willing to help me to get this to work again either through teamviewer or a Chat of some type, Gtalk, IRC anything at this point to get this to work again.
I have tried everything from a Hard reset, and KFU will not see it and I even tried a unbricking tool and that cannot find it either. Please help me out.
Thanks

Stuck booting into TWRP
Hello Forum Lords, I hope that I found the proper thread for my problem.
I was simply trying to install Cyanogemod 9 on my wifes replacement KF1 after the first KF1 suffered some sore of hardware malfunction and would no longer take a charge. Somehow, somewhere I went horribly wrong this time around. I got stuck at the KF1 logo and eventually I got it to boot, but only to recovery.
My predicament is this: My KF1 is stuck booting into TWRP. Device manager on Win Vista recognizes the KF1 as Android Composite ADB Interface. When I try to use the KFU to boot the device into Normal Mode it says "cannot find the drive specified".
At the KFU starting menu, it says ADB Status: Online, Boot Status: 0x5003.
My ultimate goal is to get this thing running Cyanogenmod again. I am painfully noob at all of this. Please speak as you would to an escaped chimp who will not let go of the keyboard and mouse.
Thank you, anybody
Hey Everyone,
I have been using these forums for the last year and a half and It has helped me a whole bunch to successfully root all of the android devices my family has. I have however ran into a problem with a 1st gen Kindle Fire. It is stuck at the orange and white kindle fire logo. So a little background, I have rooted this Kindle in the past and succeeded in flashing Cyanogenmod's jb. I changed it back to the old Kindle interface so that my sisters can use it for reading but they wanted to use it for games. I decided that I should just change it back to jb since I would have to go through the trouble of flashing google play. Now, here's when things go wrong.
I started by using KFU 0.9.6 since I was lazy and didn't want to go through my old method. I granted SU and also installed TWRP and FireFireFire. now, I found a rom by Cyanogenmod cm10.1.3otter and decided to flash it onto my device. Everything went fine but it wouldn't boot past the Cyanogenmod boot screen. So I put another rom on (cm10.1.2) and flashed that. It worked and i started using it under the assumption there was nothing wrong. I later discovered when entering the internet password that my keyboard was not working and nothing would allow it to work. I then decided that I would get the kindle rom back on and factory reset and wipe the device. When I flashed the Kindle rom and restarted it, It got stuck and would not boot past the Orange and white kindle fire logo. After 2 full charges and 48 hours, it is still stuck. I tried to check if the kindle showed up under ADB devices and it does but when I run adb shell(for one of the guides) it comes up with "no such file or directory." When I run KFU, adb is online but boot status is unknown. When I try to run any of the tools in KFU, waiting for device is shown and does not go away despite disconnecting and reconnecting/ power on and off.
I have been looking nonstop for the past two days without any help. I have tried to follow many of the guides online, but I never succeed. Can someone please help me solve this problem, I am completely stuck.

You must enable adb on cm10 for one and the driver has to be modified for the pc to detect it due to pid and vid changes in cm10.

I am aware of that however, I cannot boot to cm10. If i could boot to cm10, I would know what to do but right now I am still stuck at the kindle fire logo.
Hi,
This has not been a good month for me. I have falshed several roms in the past to my kindle fire and my HTC One with success, never encountered any problem. However, this month I managed to brick, both my kindle and my HTC. I finally ubricked my HTC One and I hope to get some guidance to unbrick my kindle fire 1st generation.
My kindle used to have Cyanogenmod and I was trying to update it since my battery was lasting that much. I first made a backup, just in case something went wrong. However, when erasing cache and dalvik I also by mistake erased the backup and suddenly I had no OS (however, I still had twrp). Then I thought making my kindle stock again and then rooting again was a good idea but it wasnt, since running a .zip file which had Amazon stock softwear erased twrp and I am now stock in the kindlfire white and orange logo.
What I have tried.
My computer runs windows 8.1. However, since windows 8.1 was not compatible and probably is not comaptible with anything, with hboot 1.44 (which my HTC One had) I created a bootable usb running ubuntu 12.04 (which thanks to the gudinace of nkk17 I was able to ubricked my HTC). Before today, I tried ubricking my kindle with windows 8.1 and I actually got to the point where the kindle was recognized by windows (for a second I thought I was going to acheive something) as a Kindle, however I was not able to send commands (did read several forums, treads and information about commands in windows, but had no luck).
I hope ubuntu helps me unbrick my kindle (of course with the help and guidance of xda members).
Having said the above, my kindle currently turns on but is stuck in the kindle white and orange logo.
I have runned several commands in ubuntu, but my devices is not listed. I did order a factory cable, however since I am loacted in Mexico it is going to take some time to get it and hope to fix it before that.
Can anybody helpme please (I have read multiple threads starting from the beginers guides but have had no sucess). Help will be most appreciated.

I have never heard of some commands.. I will have to give them a try... Thx for the great work
I was trying to install CM 12.1 to my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and I believe it is bricked. I feel as if there is an easy fix but I have been trying for 2 month to no avail. So I finally decided to make an account to try to fix it. So I was using a tutorial to root my Kindle Fire, (I'm a new user so I can't post outside links yet) and everything was going fine until it would only boot into the blue Kindle Fire logo. After about a month I figured out that it was just my terrible, broken volume buttons, and I eventually booted my device into TWRP. From there, I tried to add the CM 12.1 to the Kindle, but it wouldn't recognize my device so I couldn't get into the device to add the files. So I just backed up my OS, and tried to boot into my recovery. I read somewhere that it is a big no-no. Who knows? Anyways, it booted into a normal Kindle Fire logo, just stuck. I did get my device into fastboot, but it won't recognize the device. Every time I try to use any recovery tool, KFHD SRT in specific, it just says no device found. I've been messing with drivers for ages. I've tried using the Amazon driver installer, tried using Android_winusb.inf (I don't even know if I was supposed to do that) and somehow every time I'd uninstall the driver, it would re-install as Android ADB Interface, and wouldn't be recognized by anything. Not ADB, or any recovery. Any help please? Sorry if this was posted in the wrong section, but please, someone just help me get my device running in CM 12.1 or any CM.
