My HTC Desire 820 Dual Sim keeps losing one SIM card - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since I updated to Android 6, my phone keeps losing one of the SIM cards, specifically SIM 1. Most of the time it just loses network connection, and then disappears altogether and replacing it doesn't seem to work. It is not a SIM card issue because whichever SIM I put in the slot, it behaves the same.
I have noticed a quick fix, wiping cache from Recovery every time this happens, but I read somewhere that wiping cache too frequently affects the phone in the long run. What solutions do I have? My Warranty is expired so HTC can't fix it.
Someone help.

Desire totally going crazy...

Hey.
My desire is driving me crazy!
It is (was) rooted and s-offed with a Coolexe-ROM on it.
A few month ago I opened a thread where I described random reboots an freezes. This somehow stopped after 2 weeks or so and I could use my desire as usual. Before that, there was this problem with the SD card, which couldn't be mounted. It wasn't working anymore and I bought a new one.
Since yesterday evening the random freezes, reboots and shutdowns started again. So badly that I could hardly keep it on for a few minutes.
I noticed, that the signal bar was showing the little cross mark, so that I couldn't even place calls or text someone.
So I decided to do a RUU flash, hoping that rooting it again and so on would solve the problem.
Turns out it didn't!
The signal bar is randomly showing me the cross icon (sometimes I have H or G connection though). In this unrooted state it doesn't freeze, reboot or shut down.
I tried to save the data from my SD card 2 times (in harddrive-mode), but after a while the windows explorer wasn't reacting and crashed.
I was able to save some of the data though.
This seems like a hardware problem (doesn't it?)...
Has someone experienced similar problems? (could this be the famous motherboard fault?)
Is it the SD card, or is the desire bricking the sd card?
I have no idea what to do. Is this something I could fix myself or do I have to send it in?
Hope someone can help me...
edit: I just noticed, that when windows explorer crashes and I change back to charging only-mode, I cannot view the SD card state under the settings menu...
Did you try removing the SD card and use the SD card by a card reader?
Also flash a new Rom? Or factory reset?
Hope you have a nand backup
when I tried using a card reader my PC wouldnt even recognize the card...
after the RUU-flash I did a factory reset from the settings menu... or is there another way?
I mean, shouldnt it be like a factory reset anyways after a RUU-flash?
If I am correct ruu deals with the recovery and radio part
I'm not sure though
Try contacting senior members
as it seems my SIM card is at least part of the reason.
I put in another one and the connection problems are gone. but now they appear in the phone in which I put the old SIM ^^
so maybe (hopefully) it is just the SIM which I am going to change tomorrow in a shop.

Rebooting, No SIM Card

I keep getting this pop up randomly (see picture) saying my SIM card has been removed so the phone will restart, then it just reboots.
Everything works as normal before and after.
Sometimes I even wake up to find my phone has rebooted (and is asking for the SIM PIN code)
Any ideas?
I have the same problem.
Still not find any solution?
They recommend reset to factory defaults(clean cache and wipe system)
But I have read many users suffered same symptom after doing this at lg g3 forums here.
Some of them changed sim cards?
Can you find the reason or solution?

Sounds like you both have developed a corruption or have been hit with some malware.
First, if you have a custom recovery installed, restore a clean backup, one where you know the issue hasn't occurred.
Best bet, if a clean backup is not available, is to first do a full scan including SD card with a good anti-malware app (scan your phone from your PC/Laptop, not from an app on your phone).
Next, reformat your SD card completely (preferably in a card reader on your PC/Desktop), and copy only one clean thing back over to it, insert it, then re-install your model's stock kdz with LGUP-NEW and see if the problem recurs before adding back one at a time anything you had on your SD card before and testing each one individually before adding any additional items back on your SD card.

About my SIM card slot

Hello everyone,I'm from china so forgive my English
I have a problem recently and seems there's no other guys have this issue as same as mine.
My device has been unlocked and rooted, and I've flashed a unofficial ROM based on H2OS,and then the most weird thing is my SIM card slot 1 just can not work normally.
The specifically situation is,(I'm pretty sure that both of my SIM cards can work normally and one of them is a brand new one.) when I use the slot 1 only, every time I put the card in and after about 5 hrs then my device just can not read the SIM card,it shows up no SIM card inside, and it can't be solved if I reboot my device. I have to take the SIM card out and put it in again and after about 5 hrs it shows no cards in again like a loop.
And then I have tried my card slot 2, lucky for me it can be used well, none issues.
The third situation is when I use both my SIM cards, after bout 5hrs
It still shows up no cards in, both slot 1&2. And I still have to take the cards out then put them in again or I can just use the slot 2 only to avoid this weird situation.
And now the latest news is I used twrp to root my device again and now it seems everything works fine in slot 1, but I have to wait for 5hrs to make sure of this.
Oh I forgot one thing, once I tried to uninstall xposed but it seems nothing to do with my SIM card slot 1 problem
it shows up again!
No SIM card inside when I use the slot1 only.
it really upset me now and don't know how to solve this problem.
I may have had a similar problem. Sim1 would forget that I had a card installed every hour or so. Sim2 would forget there was a card installed once or twice a day. The only thing that would fix it was reseating the card and rebooting the phone. I suspect a loose Sim card tray and had to RMA my phone.

have you fixed the problem after RMA?I've already bought a new tray and waiting to try
I'm still awaiting my replacement phone. I will let you know when it comes in.
Just an update: the new phone works fine. It's safe to say that my first phone had hardware problems.

Question Sim card randomly failing after rooting.

Had phone for a few days before rooting and my sim card worked flawlessly. I rooted and a about half and hour - an hour later, all of a sudden my sim card stopped working, as in, the phone didn't detect that there was anything in the sim slot, at all. I tried rebooting and then it worked again for a bit. But then I noticed that it stopped working, again. This time the problem wasn't fixed after rebooting, I tried shutting it down, moving it to the secondary sim card slot, etc ,etc. But the problem managed to fix itself after I shut the phone down completely, removed the sim card, put it in my old phone, put it back into the g30 and start up again. Not sure if taking those specific steps caused my sim card to start working again but as I'm writing this now my sim card is working properly (4G, Volte, etc) but I am pretty sure its going to fail again. I'm not sure if this is because of root or just a coincidence but if it happens again ill unroot and see what happens. Weird glitch. I had Viper4android and magiskhide props config installed. but I doubt that's the purpose because after disabling both of them and restarting my phone still didn't detect a sim card.
Any suggestions??
EDIT: I am now monitoring my device with log cat to see what happens specifically if/when my sim card messes up again.
EDIT 2: been almost 4 days now and haven't had a problem since. Probably just a one time bug in the phone, no issues.
I've pretty much have had root on my G30 since i got and never had any issues with the SIM card. That's an odd issue.
Same here. Getting Magisk in the ramdisk was the second thing I did to this phone and the SIM is fine.

Question Sim Card is being detected but No Service!! (Emergency Calls Only)

My mobile is acting weird lately. The sim cards automatically gets disconnected (no service) although the sim card is still being detected.
After a while the data on the sim works but volte stops working, ie i cant make calls but can use the mobile data.
restarting the phone fixes it but it again starts to happen?
Things ive tried,
1.Tried flashing the stock firmware (India, Europe and Global)
2.Gotten the sim card slots replaced @ service centre
Somebody Help!!
Replace the sim card? Usual suspect... handle like a stick of ram. They can be damaged by ESD and the failures can be unpredictable if so.
i have the same thing.
Using an Mi5 right now with the latest LineageOS ROM, and most of the time the sim card is completley disconnected, and i need to reboot the phone, and then it asks me again for the SIMCARD pin, but sometimes i need to reboot 2-3 times until i get the message to enter my simcard pin.
