R u sure? coz i connected it to pc till its light turned green from orange.
Two months ago i went HTC service center, they told me your phone is dead, its board problem and it will cost u INR 19000.
I brought it for Rs. 17000, so y should i pay so much.
do you have wall charger?
PC giving 0.5A, charger 1A. May not sound so, but it's makes difference
Put your phone on wall charger for night(aprx 10h, don't bother light) maybe helps

And how will i know its original one?

Hey guys,
From what I've read, this seems to happen to a lot of different phones, but not out of the blue and I didn't find anything on the Note 2, so I'm wondering if it's the same issue and if my only hope is to get a replacement. It seems to be dead at the moment.
Before going to bed, I charged my phone to about 90% and then unplugged it and left it on my desk.
This morning when I woke up, it was off, which was kind of odd, since there's no way it would fully discharge over night. I tried turning it on, plugging it to charge, swapping out the battery for another original one I purchased directly from Samsung, trying other chargers, even the PC and different USB cables, all to no avail.
The only thing I noticed was that the proximity sensor seems to flash every 5-10 seconds, and I'm not sure what that would mean, other than the fact that it's getting some power somehow so that it can light up.
For the time being, I removed the battery and left it like that while I'm at work.
The phone is running the stock ROM for the GT-N7100, nothing was ever modified, it's not rooted or anything.
I know there was a firmware update pop-up on it at some point, but I hadn't installed it.
Any clues guys? I know there's some really knowledgeable people here, so I'm hoping someone might have an idea!
Thanks for the help and sorry for the text!
That sounds like the dreaded sudden death syndrome, how long have you had your device? You need to take it to a service shop. Was it rooted?

Sorry to hear it . Last week I left mine on my bedside table around same charge 90% full and it was completely discharged and just wouldnt turn on but after leaving it on charge for about 30 min when I checked it started working .

Heard of that for the S III but not the Note II!
Never rooted, nope :/
I've had it since November, got it from Newegg while I was in the US.
I should contact Samsung for a service shop location then? I've never done anything like that before.
Thanks!

When you plugged it in to charge, did the LED light up at all? Mine acts as if it wasn't plugged in.
No it didnt but at the time I didnt think of it and walked away leaving it on charge. And also I didnt even know anything sds . Did you try leaving your battery out overnight or use another battery? You called call in to any mobile phone shop and maybe ask them to see if uou can at least tey theirs

All the sign and symptoms indicating its sudden death.
- Have you updated to 4.1.2 which is believed to be patch for SDS?
-Can you reboot to recovery/download mode?
Well, I did try just plugging it in for a few hours, when I went back to it the battery was cold and nothing happened.
I do have 2 original batteries, so I've been trying everything with both of them.
It just seems like the SDS because of the proximity sensor lighting up.
Right now it's unplugged and without a battery, just in case the capacitors need to discharge or something.
I guess I'll try again tonight!
It's really complicated with the GT-N7100 being an international phone, I can't register it on Samsung for warranty, so I've been trying to talk to Newegg and haven't been successful with them so far.
Thanks for the replies guys.

The crazy part is that I think the phone was asking me to update firmware, but I didn't have time to update it before it died like this... what luck, right?
For the download mode, it never reacts while plugged in other than the sensor, so even if I hold the key combinations, it doesn't seem to react. I'll try again more thoroughly tonight.
You didn't update that's prove you were not on latest rom which have fixed sds, really bad luck otherwise it could have took 10min on good network.
Anyway Goodluck for replacement.

Have you tried hard reset, or soft reset. and if you cant get into recovery then sorry buddy :/ it seems like the SDS bug.
The proximity sensor light indicated the system is booting up but if no system boots up then you should send it back to samsung for repair.
Mine should be arriving tomorrow with an engineer's report. I will fill you guys in on what the service centre says.

It seems to indeed be the SDS, and I can't reset it or anything since it won't boot up, nor can it go into download mode.
Biggest problem is that seeing as it's a GT-N7100, after calling Samsung; they're telling me it's an international phone and that it can't be serviced in the US or Canada, so I'm basically stuck with a $700 paper weight... this majorly blows. I wish there was someone higher up at Samsung I could speak to, since this is just an extremely bad experience with the product...

I would definitely appreciate any help! You think this would help? I know phones don't exactly carry international warranty, but if I could send it there for replacement or something; that's already a step forward.
I do believe that since Samsung knows of this problem, they should offer outright replacements for anyone suffering of this issue though - because it's literally putting a faulty product on the market; there should be something we can do about this.
Appreciate it, once again!

Would you be able to tell us about your engineer's report?
How is that even possible?
I have attached 2 screnshoot of a Galaxy Nexus battery drain.
My phone is 100% stock, I just restored the nexus official image. The battery should be new, I already sent the phone to the manufacter last month and I think they changed the battery.
I didn't even setup a google account, no app installed, wifi off and there is good signal.
There are no wakelocks. Screen was off all the time. The battery just go down.
(Some translation. Segnale rete mobile = mobile network signal, Attivo = active, Schermo Acceso = Screen on)
What should I do? Call samsung again and stay another month without my phone? Is there any other solution?
Well, for starters you could let it charge for another cycle or two to be sure about. Also I see the Network reception is not so good. That may be responsible for the drain, though I highly doubt it !

Yes, I'm trying to do some complete charge/discharge.
I have similar result in Airplane mode, network reception is not the problem.
Thanks for the answer. :good:

I have the *exact* problem (or at least, similar).
I have RMA'ed my phone 2 times, teling me they had done a "mechanical repair" (in Italian, as per repair center label, "riparazione meccanica").
Don't ask me about the meaning of this. It could be everything, but one thing is certain: serial number of the phone is the same, so they did not change the motherboard at all.
Back to topic, I'm experiencing serious issues:
1) huge battery drain in airplane mode, even after complete stock and several ROMs (the service center restored 4.0.4 on it, funny)
How did I test: the day I received back my phone, I have simply fully charged it, switched to airplane mode overnight and I have lost more than 30% battery with NOTHING at all installed, I even left the wrong date/time !!
2) before RMA'ing it, it did not matter if I used 3G / WiFi or nothing at all: I always got a similar battery discharge curve.
BUT today I noticed something odd:
while testing for the (1) issue above, I noticed that the "Awake" (aka "Attivo") bar under the battery graph was pretty full blue colored, which is NOT normal actually. How can it be after a full wipe (or so, as per after sale service) ????
Let's try to troubleshoot this problem guys, because I'm really fed up
...and I don't want to sell this Nexus, I simply love it hehe
TODO:
1) Wipe and test again -> charging the phone right now
2) analyze dmseg (maybe there is an hardware issue that keeps interrupting the CPU) -> after a quick look it seems that actually my interrupt idea could be true ( "Resume caused by IRQ 39, TWL6030-PIH". This is the power management unit) but I have to see during the airplane mode test, not while charging (that might be correct)
3) measure the current and compare results against a nice study of another guy (that reported power consumption on different scenarios)
4) ??

The same. They changed the battery in my case. I did a mark with a marker pen on the battery before sending it and the mark is not there after RMA, so they changed it. Phone serial is the same.
They also put 4.04 on my nexus, what a shame!
I did not experienced the "active" thing on the battery statistics. I had several wakelock from "RILJ" but after a full restore the disappeared.
I restored (again) the phone with nexus image, and even locked the bootloader, removed the sim card and disabled wifi, gps and everything. It always discharge by itself in a too short period of time.
Is there something I can tell to RMA to make them change my phone? I don't think it's a software problem.

I agree, this must be an hardware problem.
To say, I have tried a long list of ROMs and kernels, as well as updating radio and all other sort of stuff.
Now the awake "problem" has gone, so today I'm gonna retry the (1)st experiment.
Let's see...
In any case tomorrow I'm going to go to the shop and ask them if they could be so gentle lending me a fresh battery to test out.
Some clues here?

No, I never used tethering.
My phone is at RMA again, I asked to fix it FOR REAL, I'm just hoping.
I've had a similar experience since first getting the phone. While with light usage, I used to get anywhere between 16 hours to a full day of battery life, I'll only get between 4 and 6 hours of screen-on time. Whether full stock or ROMs, it's always been the same. I've eventually just chalked it up to hardware being the issue and made sure to always have a spare battery and charger with me at all times.
I got my phone back.
They said that they changed the motherboard. On the package the note is "sostituzione board unit".
In the next few days I am gonna do some test to see if they really solved the problem, I really hope so.

Nice to hear
Today I was suprised of my phone's duration (still no serviced again): more than 1 day (of course without doing much) and only 10% drain during the night.
I don't know what happened BUT i can say also that I'm experiencing now a problem with the network (GSM, 3G): the network crashes sometime also while calling or while idling.
Today it did not crash in a > 10min call, so let's see also the battery drain during this night
...because strange stuff happens!
try update to the latest new radio.. flash radio.img
galaxy nexus i9250
I think that the problem is solved.
It was a hardware problem.
I'm on CM10.2stable now.
Latest radio and bootloader.
Now my phone last enough .
I called Samsung a lot of times to urge them to fix my phone.
EDIT: I'm now on 20h20m on battery with 3h23m screen on and 4% left. Goood

This is a serious problem. In the past couple of days, I have been using my note 4 and it reboots out of nowhere and will not boot again. I tried wiping cache, no dice. Tried factory resetting it, no dice. Used the Verizon official software repair tool, no dice. I even flashed it manually with ODIN and used a PIT file to re-partition it and that fixes it for a couple of days, but then it does it again.
Nothing will get the device to boot again, and it will not boot into safe mode either.
Does anyone have any idea as to what on earth is going on? I've had to put my SIM card in another phone that works.
Hello Macmaster2000, tried using another battery?
My current note 4 situation, though some battery/charging apps say the battery is "healthy".... when its not plugged in it will go into a boot-loop after about 1-2 hours of usage on battery even if it had 80-90% of battery life and it would still boot-loop.. but when it is connected to the charger it wont boot-loop..
Sadly, I don't have a replacement battery to tell you if that's the problem to my bootloops or other :\ worth a shot thou!

I think the best batteries are from Anker, best sellers on amazon and I've never had a problem!
Also, not sure on the NFC crashing, I use it daily and haven't had an issue.
Hello everyone,
My phone has had weird behavior recently . It's suddenly started to turn off when I still have 30% of battery remaining. And then I plug in my phone to try to charge it, it shows 0%. It constantly repeats. I tried to battery calibrations apps and its methods but it doesn't work. Is my phone battery dead? Would someone give me some advice what I can do in a such situation?

You see, I don't think that is it. I had the same issue this month and bought a brand new battery. The problem remains, 30%-35% of battery left and the smartphone turns off. Non-rooted, stock Android 6.0.
Any ideas folks?
Same problem here !
Hey man I'm having exactly the same problem as u and I still haven't found a fix. This prob first started when I upgraded to marshmallow. I bought another battery as well still its the same problem. So bro have u found any fix ?
I got the same problem on my phone, while playing Pokemon. I bought a new battery and problem solved. But I'm still on Lollipop.
Got the same issue, bought 2 new battery, still the same.
Brought back to shop. Got checked and turns out my motherboard has some issue with the battery IC.
Probably too much abuse (overheated quite a number of times, my bad)
Warranty over, quoted RM800 (USD200~) fix (Replace the whole motherboard). Decided not worth it as I bought it for RM1500 (390USD~).
not necessarily, you can try to heat the controlling system for pcb
You can still get a new MOBO for 60$. I got a 3/32gb one for 55$ and its working like a charm
