if anyone can guide me on this that will be a great help for me.
and i also want stock kernel in case anything goes wrong so i can get back to stock kernel.

Just use ZenKernel MM (it's sysless so magikx + xposed works)
- and then use Kernel Settings app (like Auditor/EX) to select your preferred settings... The good thing is that everybody has different preferences for "performance" so like if you want ultimate battery life you may end up having a super black screen and totally restrict appsyncs and wakelocks... and.. basically you'll be stuck with the kernel's settings.. but this one will let you "play around" without long term harm or any need to re-flash
Then again using the ... I forgot exact name but something Russian ROM dude's own kernel is great for performance... and you can just manually change some battery saving options like sleep/brightness/etc..
The thing is... "batt performance" = too vague...
---------- Post added at 03:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:56 AM ----------
Side note @crownpiyush - Literally all your questions are answered if you go to the Kernel list for ZF2... There are hardly a dozen or so kernels and each with a basic list of what it does... + it has stock kernel as well... so.... you know... don't be lazy dude

Non-techy people don't even know about XDA - you know enough to find this, then... okay - look I don't want to just be rude so look at it this way..
i saw your query.. my reaction was "this is simple is it really not written anywhere? that's odd"
So... I searched ZenFone 551ML
The XDA page for the specific device came up (same page your post is in)
On the very top it says Rom/Kernel - I went into Kernel
And just opening 3-4 tabs for the most popular ones... the first 2-4 introduction lines had everything you asked answered already.
Someone who doesn't know anything about this doesn't know what is a kernel - but if someone is trying to learn then with a site as hugely worked "by the people for the people" and so organized - it is expected to do the basic search.. read the first 2 lines.. if certain word is unclear google the term (eg what is cfw gov) ...
After that when you ask a question there is automatically a willingness to help because we see someone getting into the game. If everybody did what you did... then XDA would not exist.
You have answers because someone did the searching and got the result -> they helped someone else -> they learned something new and helped someone else.
Some very much from this industry some newcomers... If nobody wanted to learn more - then there would be nobody left to teach/learn from.

ok Per the "noob video" i called my mom and told her that she wasnt lying to me when she told me i was not special, but I do have a problem with this kernal let me explain
1. Which kernel build(s) (ie; bfs/cfs havs/nohavs etc) are you using with the issue?
2. What Rom are you using?
3. If known, what OTA base is your rom using (ie; is it based on 3.29, 3.30, 3.70, etc)?
4. Does the issue persist if you go back to a stable kernel build?
5. The issue being experienced (obviously ;D)
1. netarchy-toastmod-cfs-havs-nosbc-universal 4.3.1
2. Cyanogen 7
3. unknown
4. cant get back to a stable kernel
5. I am seeing pixilated lines on key pressed and slides. What I mean is when I press an icon or slide my phone or look at my battery charging it will distort a minor annoyance. Also my usb connection is no longer working it will not let me toggle between charge and disk drive
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't netarchy a kernel for a sense rom and not an aosp?
Edit - just double checked, its for a sense based rom only..
If using cm7, I would suggest tiamat or savaged zen..
you cant use that kernel with CM7. flash tiamat 4.0.5 or any other AOSP kernel. NA kernels are for sense ROMS only.
Your mom did tell you correctly because this did not belong in the dev section.
That kernel is for sense not aosp.
Use tiamat or Savaged zen or "God mode"
OH WOW Guess that is why lol. I thought I read it to say it was usable by many roms. So just flash the stock kernel and use one of the ones echarette1, and mattykinsx posted. Thanks you 2 for telling me that i messed that up.
And alaman68 I thought since it was related to that kernel I coul have posted in that kernels thread. Guessed wrong.

It would have been appropriate to post IN the kernel thread but not a new thread.
I'm NOT trying to join the backseat moderatoring wagon, just letting you know.

Oh no trust me I would not have started a brand new thread I would have tacked it on to the thread that contains the kernel and the information. I am not a forums noob and know that much. And I did not take your letting me know as a "better than you" context, but just wanted to tell why I thought posting in that thread would have been better. Nothing mean intended by you or me just helping in how to keep the board clean you were.
Now on to another question. Currently my Evo is giving me a battery life of ~5 hours before I hit ~15% and being in a job where I am constantly using my phone I can not afford to be attached to a charger for 3 hours a day. I was told by a friend that using kernels will help with battery life. If this is the case out of the ones I was told to use what would be better in terms of extending the life of my daily battery, if that is something they can in fact do?
If you're running CM7, use the Tiamat or SavagedZen kernel, hit the link in my signature for some good tips on battery conditioning and links to better battery guides.
Thank you to everyone who helped me figure out what I did wrong and thank you HipKat for that link going to read it now
hi all gurus,
i just installed CM7.2 ( by d33ps1x, many thanks to him ) successfully.
and now i want to know about the ROMs which are Suitable and Stable for Wildfire S ?
I searched, here but confused, please help.
thanks in advance for guidance and your valuable time.
If you had just put some time to search the forum you'd have seen a thousand of thread with exactly same or similar name and question.
There's also a thread made by me which is in "INDEX" for new people answering their questions, "LIKE THIS".
See my signature "New here thread".
Cm9 alpha 9

Thanks very much to both of you respected members of xda-developers
For now I'm using CM10 alpha 2 from modpunk and I'm happy. Battery holds very nicely and it's so fast. Overall, not bad.

yeh, but Senior members ( Sukhjit321 and kantry123 ) advised me for CM9 Alpha 9, they know better about these ROMS and always guides us for Right thing.
May be you are not experiencing any problem because of your LIMITED USAGE, but the Seniors are always testing everything/features first, then they recommend the Stable ones. I have to respect them and their advise.
Thanks again to them.

Yeah, but I wrote you opinion about the ROM I use. I don't know what you have to have the knowledge to express their views on the ROM...
Actually it depends from user to user,
Some of us prefer sense ROMs cause of the functionality but sense ROMs cause some lag for me so I basically avoid them
CM7 was just never my choice coz of the ugly look...
CM9 and MIUIv4 are the best senseless roms i've tried but they too have some bugs like video recording and all.
CM10 has some bugs like battery drain, animation in some, and more.
My main point being If the ROM satisfy your needs and the bugs don't affect you, go for it. Everyone's needs are different for example: I rarely use GPS or video camera. And I'm so not dissatisfied with CM9. So everyone has different needs.
Just make sure you read the whole OP for known bugs and also I suggest you look towards some recent posts to find out if any user found something new about ROM.
As it goes for performance I may suggest some apps :
- RAM Manager set at Balanced and launcher locked in memory.
- SD Booster.
- Ad block
- ES Task manager: to disable startup items.

hi im a noob so go easy on me!
i have been a follower of your site for some time now
(had a self hacked xperia x10 awhile back with help from posts on this site, and now thanks to various peoples work and this site have a official 2.3.3 desire bravo s-offed cwm backup and rooted.)
but this is my first post.
my question is as above really. i would like to know what people think is the best kernel (or other way to overclock) and the links/guide for the official 2.3.3 gingerbread update.
im not looking for mental power just to eek it up a bit (near 1200mhz will do)
any help gratefully recieved :fingers-crossed:
big thanks for the developement work already done by this site!!
Just use set CPU from play store
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
hi, thanks for your reply,
set cpu doesnt allow you to see past the standard frequency available for the processor, im using a alpha kernel based on the stock one that now lets me see 1190mhz.
you see im trying to achieve the holy grail of getting gta 3 to run well on my desire.
it does and well, but vice city is proving a little sluggish
Where do u find them games for this device ? would love to try them there's not many at gameloft
Cheers
sent from my mildwild desire
Just search for gta3 apk or vice city apk, with vice city the instalation instructions are a bit vague so read through comments and you'll piece it together.
Youl need to use ram manager on hard gaming, overclock and 3d chainfire experiment with the settings and plugins on that. Also you can adjust graphics in game settings draw distance has the greatest effect on lag. Good luck!

I know its not that helpful but if setcpu let's u overclock up to 1190mhz....isn't that "near 1200mhz"?
---------- Post added at 07:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:07 PM ----------
get a nice quick ROM like leedroid froyo 2.5.0 and use setcpu to overclock to 1190mhz, performance and deadline

sorry for late reply been on hol's, Yes quite right, I took the plunge with a altered alpha stock kernel which allowed setCPU see that, I was just wondering what over people thought or uses.
And if anyone is stably running more?
Ill look Into leedroid, I presume I just install from zip from xrecovery.
I would like to know a few things about it as I've used custom Rom's before.
Is it easier on ram then?
Does everything work? (wifi, camera, radio, how etc)
Many thanks for your help
need you guys opinions on what rom should i use for my samsung galaxy s GT-i9000. My phone already rooted and running Android ver 2.3.6. I'm looking for a custom rom that is intended for gaming. I've been doing research and I got 2 custom rom that I wanna try, CyanAOSP and GamerzRom.

I second that, cyanogenmod is a pretty straight forward install/stable and good performance, also if you want to tweak some other settings you can
check into developer settings (unlock it first by hitting build number in about phone about 7-10 times). I personally use "do not keep activities" when you back out of an app the activity is not kept in memory thus always freeing up possibly wasted memory on an app you would not really go back into. The app states are saved when you press home button to leave an app.
Okay guys,
I have been trying to do lower the default manual brightness level further myself for some time now and I really need help.
I've tried different apps and really this would be the best way to do it if only I could (I run into re-compiling errors).
I chose to come look for help since we have so many devs and contributers on this lovely forum
Here is the plan:
1) Decompile framework-res.apk ( untouched framework-res.apk file uploaded here: https://www.mediafire.com/?ixg5b45gje5m4dz )
2) Then head into framework-res.apk/res/values/arrays.xml
3) See if you can find lines similar to these:
config_screenBrightnessSettingMinimum
config_screenBrightnessDim.
4) Change the value to 4 for both lines.
5) Re-compile.
All I would like to do is to change the manual minimum brightness level to 4, which should be possible by those two lines.
Hope its not too much to ask and probably more can make use of this too.
Thanks for everything!
Regards
Or you could just install Dorimanx kernel and use Stweaks to do it, no long winded decompile/recompile of anything needed
Plus get you get a ton of other tweakable settings and better battery life

I will have to disagree. Fully stock deodexed + rooted + debloated is amazing. Stability and battery like never before. And yeah I have tried other kernels, my taste is just different.
Now, I already found a way to make what I am asking for. If anyone can help, then great, if no, then I gotta find some other way by my own.

Confused by your "i must disagree with you", wasnt aware id made a point that could be argued and i never said anything about ROM's.........you *might* want to read my signature
Umm, i run stock 4.1.2 myself with amazing battery and stability etc, and use Dorimanx to give me some of that....just saying
Pls post the log .
