Problem with GPS signal - external GPS BT? - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hello
In my Rk3188 (KGL) device I have problem witch poor GPS signal. I can get only one satellite and signal is weak. I try different ROM and MCU and no solution. The antenna connection looks good.
Can I use external BT GPS device witch this unit or it is impossible due to Bluetooth limitations? Thanks for help.

can i use artemis external gps on my laptop

hi
when i bought my artemis, it came with an external gps receiver which i have never used because the internal gps is doing it for me... i have microsoft streets and maps on my laptop and it would be great if i could connect the external gps that came with my artemis...
the connector is called MS-147-C(LP)-2 and it looks like in the picture
i hope some1 can answer me this time
Removed (mis-read the question!)
What you have got on the picture is only an External Antenna. It is NOT a GPS receiver. It is used to only boost the signal in poor conditions (ie in a vehicle).
There is no way to directly connect this Antenna to a PC/Laptop. You will need a real GPS receiver (PCMCIA/ExpressCard/USB) and if you buy one - you will (most probably) not need the Antenna.
On the other hand you most probably do not need it anyway. You can use the GPS receiver on your Artemis and share it (over USB/bluetooth) with your laptop.
There are already lots of threads and guides here. Just search!

add bluetooth gps receiver to htc desire

I have a bluetooth gps reciever. Mark qstarz gps 818x. The htc desire sees the reciever and connects, but then says paired. disconnected.
Is there a way to add GPS method.
And i can't see the reciever in my location in the menu.
There are more people with this problem or knows someone a solution
Thanks Roy Timmermans

Any particular reason for not using the built in GPS receiver?
No but it saves battery and this gps mouse has 64 satellites. I want to know why he does not work. And curiosity
I'm not 100% sure but I didn't think there were 64 gps satalites?
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I've checked. There are 66 channels which can be exploited. for fast acquisition.
You wont get a faster acquisition than the desire, unless you tell your gps unit roughly where it is in the world.
The desire already knows this, and that's why it locks so quickly

But the main question about connection between Desire and b/t gps, remain!
Once paired you have to press 'connect'. That's what I had to do with a bluetooth stero unit.
Hey there, I'm also having this issue. I have the same GPS Unit and was wondering if I could use it to enhance the accuracy of my current GPS setup? Currently it says the accuracy is within 100 meters. With my old phone I was able to get it to within 2 meters using my bluetooth receiver. I have tried the "hitting the connect" but am unable to find that button, otherwise I'm sure it would be an obvious option. Does anyone else have any ideas?

GPS module not working

Hi friends
Since about 2 months I can no longer get gps fix with my HTC Desire. My 2 year old kids love it as much as I do, but unfortunelly they let it drop in the ground too often.
I'm afraid that the gps antenna is damaged, because the fact is that the gps really isn't working anymore.
A few years ago I used a windows mobile 5 phone with TomTom, and it accepted an external bluetooth antenna as wel as the integrated gps module.
Unfortunelly, TomTom is not suported on android. Do you know any android navigation software that accepts a bluetooth external antenna so that I can keep using my desire as a gps device?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
are you sure it's the antenna's fault? Maybe some settings are off (i.e. you're turning on 3G instead of GPS?). What sort of external antenna do you want to plug into it?

Hi
I´m not sure if the problem is really the antenna, but for sure it is not about the settings. I have this phone for about 1,5 years, so I know what to turn on.
Have already made factory settings and reconfigurated everything.
I know that the old phones without gps modules could be bluetotth paired with an external gps antenna. At least the TomTom supported this option. The question is to know if any android navigation software supports it now.

Hi,
I have problem with Malaysk ROM. I have 3 units....
1. KLD for RAV4

All are QuadCore unit 1024px.
Problem is with WiFi after update from stock to Malaysk ROM.
Problem is only with some Phones. For Example my Lenovo VibeShot don`t work. My wife Lenovo k3Note (MIUI) works great. Sony Z3 works. Iphone 5s dont work with Hedunit.
HeadUnit see Wifi hotspot. I can write password. But when is connecting signal strenght drop to one line and couldn`t connect.
I record screen from test. Problem is on KLD and KGL then it`s not hardware problem.

Have the same issue. Problem started after updating to FUSE technology on Malaysk ROM. WIFI drops connection after few minutes of using. Not sure if it can be fixed by ourself. It should be reported to Malaysk.
On Malaysk ROM 02-07-16 (version 2) on RK3188 800x480 HZC. Had the drop out issue on the stock android 4.4.4 but also on Malaysk ROM - very, very weird indeed... Would nive to have it fixed.
Hi mas618, did you get an solution. Got the same "wifi drop issue" with stock ram and also with malaysk rom.
Same to me. Any fix available?
Wifi corrected
Hi
Finally i found problem. Thank me if it is useful.
Problem is not software problem. It is just harware problem
I just take out unit from car. Opened 2 screws top of dvd and removed metal lid.
Wifi cable has 2 wire in 1 wire. Middle is the + outside wire is ground. So both is soldered very badly to signal point. I was able to solder ground side to ground but i just changed wifi antenna with wire from laptop antenna.
You can just solder it. Or you can chane it.
In first picture you can see very bad solder.
In second picture you can see new antenna with wire soldered.
You can solder outside wire any place of ground.
My wifi is now very good works. Not drop anymore. And bluetooth audio is not drops too.
I saw the cpu is not have any cooler. The last pictures show cooler is planted to rk3066

Android Auto not using car GPS Antenna?

Hey Guys, i searched located a few threads but cant find a definite answer...
I got Ford Sync 3 with AA.
My car headunit have factory GPS software and antenna on the car.
Now i have updated my headunit to firmware with AA and CP.
When connecting AA everything works fine, but when i go to Google Maps it always require me to turn my phone GPS to High Accuracy (on) mode.
i was under the impression if my car have built in antenna it will utilize that...
Is it a case where for my car specifically (Ford 2016 Mustang) if built in NAVI is off then there is no power to the GPS antenna? or is it a setting i cant seem to find within AA?
thank you.
I am using a Pioneer headunit connected with the car's built-in GPS antenna, and I frequently use Android Auto. My experience is that AA used the phone's GPS antenna, not the one connected to the headunit (which should have better reception).
AA very probably uses the phone's antenna because the good people at Google expect some headunits to not have a GPS antenna connected (after all no GPS on your headunit is a major selling point for using AA), and they have no way to check that by software.
