[POLL]P52xx New Rom ? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would you like to have a new rom that will be a fusion between Cyanogenmod rom as a base and improved performance and a small touch of theming
ex : touchwiz skin
the idea is to give different looking rom and user experince with the same performance of google's stock roms
it will be the perfect balance between performance vs appearance.

[Q] Which custom rom to install

Hi,
First of all i would like to congratulate everyone for carrying out such a great forum... have gone through many threads and learned a lot about android and wildfire capabilities
I am now looking forward to install a custom rom. However, I am confused about which of these two custom roms to install
--- 1 is wildpuzzle with transparent lock screens
--- 2 is cyanogen mod 7.0.3 or anyone having any other better option
I dont know the pros and cons of these roms and what different they have ( only that wildpuzzle has htc sense and is very similar to stock rom)
my needs:-
-good signal strength ( i use airtel)
-fast and should be smooth
- not have bugs
- Signal strength on both will be same. It depends on the Radio really, not the ROM.
- Both are fast and smooth for their respective builds.
- Cyanogenmod will have comparatively more bugs, because it is a scratch GB build from stock, and, WildPuzzle is basically a modified Stock ROM with many additional features. But, Cyanogenmod offers more features than Sense ROMs, and you have the advantage of the latest Android build (2.3.4 ATM)
In the end, it really boils down to whether you want Sense or not. Personally, I would advice you to try out Cyanogenmod, because, really, it has infused new life (for me, atleast) in the Wildfire, which I would never have thought possible with Sense.
One Question
What is HTC Sense? What extra does it do to wildfire....
It's their custom interface, like Samsung's TouchWiz. Basically, all you "see" on the stock ROM is HTC Sense - It is like an additional layer over Stock Android.
Extra's it does:
- Allows HTC Apps to run, like Camera, Contacts, Messaging, FM Radio etc
- Allows HTC Widgets
- "Looks" different than Stock Android
Disadvantages
- Potentially slower on the Wildfire, given its weak specs
- No JIT
- This is based on opinion - but, it doesn't provide the Stock Android experience.

Best Combination

Hello
this is only a tip from me.
i tried many firmware´s.
But the best combination for me is Following.
1. Install This Firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587888
2. Install this Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646883
3. Install This Rosie
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656201
This combination works perfectly.

thx all developers
Running any kernel without S2W is pretty stable atm and yes so far the Franco kernel seems to be the best.
The Roms are more of user preference, I prefer the more ASOP styled ROMS as I don't want all the sense rubbish eating my RAM, even the sense skins on the menus i don't like, ASOP is nice and minimal.
All of the ROMS that are in the first page results in development are nice and stable, as for rosie I can't say.
I think the ICS launcher is horrific and all the ICS styled launchers i don't bother with because I dont like the asthetics.
The best combination so far

Sense vs Senseless ICS ROMS

Im looking for a stock ICS ROM, where the user experience is as google intended but still makes the most of the HTC hardware.
This is my first android phone and im currently running CyanogenMod 9 - Endeavor Unleashed | 017, which I really like - minus the bugs...
How will a ROM like this compare to RENOVATE 2.1.0 | SUPER FAST, which is a sense ROM with a ICS style launcher over on.
Will it still have all the ICS style menus, contacts, animations?
Which will run faster and more stable?
cheers,
maybe the renovate is more stable because it's based on sense, but the experience of cm9 and aokp is more pure ics, and you have a lot of personalization and theme!
With a powerful device like the One X, a ROM's speed can be mostly a subjective feeling. As far as stability goes, I tend to lean towards Sense-based ROMs, at least until all the AOSP ROMs iron out their bugs. Another reason for favoring Sense-based ROMs is the retention of the Sense camera. Other cameras seem to have trouble with overexposure because of the f/2 aperture.
In summary, a Sense-based ROM that strips out most of Sense, leaving only whatever is required is a good bet, at least for now.

Try Slim ICS or Paranoid rom..both based on cm9 but with added features...both great if you ask me my friend..
Renovate is based still on sense framework and uses a few sense apps still...i do recommend that as well. New update will be coming soon so id wait for that if you want to try...for now as the poster above said i would go and try Renovate..i know the developer and nothing but good dedication from him

[Discussion] Review your rom

Note : This is not a "best rom" thread
Mods, I f you find this against rules, close it
....
I made this thread to be a refrence for people before installing specific rom, and instead of reading many posts in the rom thread, read a review or 2 here and decide. And Also to stop the best rom threads and help confused users.
How to post a review?
1) rom
2) kernel
3) any additional tweaks you installed
4) your review about the rom, mention bugs, good things, laggy apps, theme....etc
"Just post reviews only please and make this thread clean"
Rom : jb experience special edition 2 [cm7.2]
Kernel : percy cm#2
Tweaks : N/A
The rom is pretty cool, theming is the most similar to holo interface, it is quite fast and not bad in daily use, ram consumption is pretty good, I liked the theming but the setting's background is too much black. Sometimes it lag while scrollin. In my opinion the fastest cm7 rom I have ever tried and makes you almost belive you are using a cm10 rom
ROM : MiniROM touchwiz UX
Kernel : javris v2.1 #22
Tweaks : adrenaline engine 4.5
I loved this rom becuase it offers a real touchwiz 5 interface, every single detail is themed like TW5 , the developer didnt miss any thing. I didint like the boot animation * samsung logo then a pink flowers *
The rom is laggy sometimes and takes too much time after boot to stabilize..the rom doesn't support arabic by default so you have to flash Arabic language pack. I think if you are tired of holo themes or a fan of tw5 this rom is cool for you
In performance it is pretty fast but some apps like instagram lags too much.
On a scale from 1 to 10 I give it 8
Rom : Stock Rom
Kernal : Savie kernal
Tweak : adrenaline 4.4 n sgy tweak n buildworking
Nothing can beat the Speed.... I have installed nearly 50 apps n still have d speed
Sanju Joseph
MiniROM Touchwiz UI
Kernel: WhiteXP 1.3.3
The rom is fast and looks like Samsungs Touchwiz.
I haven't tried any tweaks yet.
Most of the google apps and framework is missing.
9/10

Thinking of using AOSP.

So I'm thinking of going on AOSP, but I don't like AOSP UI and I like BlinkFeed (I am aware of the app Flipboard), but the overall UI is not smooth and I get lags occasionally (which I why I want to try AOSP). I have just two questions, (Compared to ROMs with Sense UI) Is the overall performance & battery life better? Do you like the AOSP UI?
Also: I'm thinking of using CyanogenMod, which build is the most recent and stable? (please provide link)
comparing roms are not allowed....try bunch of roms and feel free to use which you like.. there are plenty of AOSP roms...
you can use flinkfeed(a part of sense 6) on AOSP rom..search it and you will get it..
CM11 m12 is latest build. link
