Hey guys i have a problem with my wifi..
The problem is that the phone always switchs between wifi and mobile data, even when i dont touch it.
That is really annoying maybe one of you guys know how to fix that.
I am on OOS 3.2.8 and have around 2-3 bars from the router.
Is your WiFi set to stay on when the device idles?
I did notice that WiFi to mobile handover is pretty aggressive no matter the settings (in all versions of OOS, including Nougat beta), but in my case it only does that when WiFi signal is weak (although still there and good enough for basic browsing).
My workaround: simply disable mobile data when I get into this situation.

Oh okay thats what i am doing all the time but i thought somebody has a better idea then that, but thank you very much hope they change that.

Hello, now i am stuck with my wifi issue, i have full signal strenght but wifi and internet hangs anywa, i was wondering first off, what is hboot exactly, second question is does hboot got anything related to wifi radio or drivers? since it can't be downgraded is my phone wifi stuck until something is found ? :'( it worked very well before updates, now even with Cyanogen 10.2 i have the issue, i don't think it is hardware related. Please please anyone knows something about this ? I am starting to regret my money badly :'(
What do you mean with the internet hangs ? Please tell more about it...what exactly happens and which apps aren't working well...hboot is for phones like a driver for bootloader and also for WiFi etc...just like the bootloader is for phones like bios is for pc ...but yea tell more about those WiFi problems...it could be really WiFi problem...or change the WiFi settings in WiFi and then settings...disable all things like optimize WiFi to improve battery life or so...

Well sorry for not detailing, i am just so disappointed that i forgot. Let me explain more, i have the wifi connected, if i lauch for example Play store or facebook or twitter just after i activate wifi it accesses the internet without any problem but that is just for like 30 seconds max, then the wifi stays connected i have the icon with almost max signal, but no more internet, and also i can't access my router when i try via browser, whil it accesses it when i turn wifi off and on, so actually it completely loses connection to the router but i still have the wifi icon. It never did that before hboot 1.73. now i tried 3 roms, ARHD, MaximusHD, Cyanogen 10.2, tried with all params, even static ip forced router to wifi G. Nothing seems to do th trick, i was thinking about the hardware antenna defection, but i have fll signal so i don't know at all now.

Even if you have Full signal with defect WiFi hardware, it doesn't mean it it will work normally...tried to flash custom kernel? Try that

Hmmm indeed i did not try that yet, i'll do it and let you know what it gives. I am also investigating issues with FB app.

Hi, is anyone else having poor wifi connectivity on your M8?
My wifi signal will drop completely after a period of time. Conducted speed test and speed turned out to be much lower as compared to my Nexus 5 on the same wifi network, and somehow websites/apps take ages to load via Wifi.
Am on 1.54.707.7 (International) by the way.
Found a video that perfectly describes my problem. :silly:
Yes I'm having the same issue. tried turning off the power saving mode. what kind of works sometimes is if I turn off my mobile data off. I also heard that you Wi-Fi password needs to be 9 characters or else, seems like too much of a hassle. I haven't tried changing the password.

Finally someone who is in the same plight as I am! Haha yes I've tried that too, apparently the signal that the M8 is capable of receiving is weaker than other phones, have a friend who tried on a G2, an M8 and an Oppo Find 7a. The 7a had full bars for WiFi, 1 bar for G2 and the M8 couldn't even connect. :crying:
And about that 9 characters for password myth, yeah have heard about it too! Just counting that out as I don't see any impact it has on the WiFi connectivity though.
possible fix

noticed the same thing but i dont lose connectivity the thing is wireless is really good but the signal bars play alot and jumps but if i go a bit far from the router eg in the kitchen where most my phones couldnt get wireless connection i still get it with the m8
Have flashed back to sense to try something so tested once I saw this thread.
Am on 1.54.401.9 and still get the speeds below in my sig with everything set to default and no 'other' kernels installed etc
Ranges from 70mb to 108. (International / UK )
What seems to be working for me so far is I went into my advance Wi-Fi settings and change the frequency from auto to 2.4GHz only instead of auto. I haven't had any issues so far let me know if that helps

I've left mine on auto but connect to 5ghz. (both 2.4 and 5ghz available from router) and again get top speeds.
I don't have any problem at wifi connectivity.

Hi, that worked perfectly for my M8 and my wife's M7. We had big trouble on 2.4 Ghz Networks. After long and disappointing tests for trouble shooting I found this post. And it works. Thanks alot.
am too facing the same problem, wifi keeps dropping consistently.. this happens on each and every sense rom... even on the stock rom.
did a factory reset, but no luck.. also tried turning off and on the wifi optimization in settings-wifi-advanced & changed the wifi frequency band to auto, 5 ghz & 2.4 ghz, but no luck. like it means dropping 12-15 times in 10 minutes. the power saver is also off. wifi in aosp and gpe roms works fine. any suggestions? (firmware is up to date)
Was it due to full metal body? Wifi is worse than my old Butterfly 1
Hi, I continue to experience this recent bug, where, when I arrive home, the phone won't automatically connect to my wifi. I only have my home network on 5 GHz, no other entry.
Whenever it happens, the phone stays on LTE, doesn't seem to see *any* wifi, it takes actually getting in network settings and toggling from there off/on to retrieve my network and work again.
Is this really a new issue or it can be solved somehow without factory reset?

I just noticed the same behaviour with my 2 days new router, when on 5G. It takes me to turn on/off a few times to get the ip, but then, after a while (20'-30'), it says No internet, although my laptop has full internet (on 2.4G). I was thinking my router has a bug, at least I know now it could be my Z5 Nougat. :/

Hello everyone,
I bought 2 months ago a Mi Mix2 and I’m very happy with it
but since 2 days ago my 2 sim cards goes loop on 4G/lte option, either switches on and off without any connection (mobile data and WIFI).
Now the phone works good only in 3G data
I’m an expert user and I have tried many possibilities but without solution.
Installing other roms such as Global and China, stable and developer, formatting data several times, change SIM cards but nothing.
I also have read several forums without any good news.
someone has any good idea?
thx!

I've found that VoLTE conflicts (IMS maybe?) between SIM cards can cause this...have you tried ensuring that VoLTE is deactivated both in the settings menu and hidden testing menu?

Thanks, but Volte is disabled. I tried to enabe it but still Sim cards works only in 3G. I'm thinkink that Lte modem is broken...
Hi Stefano, I got the same problem. Did you solve it yes??

@stefano agelnini
I have the same problem with xiaomi 5, but I found that whem my wifi conection is on causes problems with sim cards.
you can try this; switch off wifi. then restart your phone and you now should not have problems with sim cards signal, but when you turn again wifi the problems appear again, conflit with wifi,
I usually disable and enable the SIM Slot that have the looping issue. Not the mobile data, but the SIM SLOT.
Don't bother, it's a Mi Mix2 issue.
Phone has problems to switch between "receiving and making" calls and switching back to 4G/LTE.
And very often i can't make calls, cause the opponent can't hear me.
I do disable mobile data usage and/or enable airplane mode for half a minute.
It really is enerving. Thats a major issue.
Never will buy xiaomi again.?

I can confirm this issue... This is becoming somewhat of a deal breaker to me.
If anyone finds a working fix for it, do tell.

Same issue here.
Data constantly dropping. I'm not in a great signal area, but working fine on my Galaxy S8 for the past year.
To bring data back, I have to refresh it by enabling flight mode on/off. Constantly doing this.
Anyone know of a fix? I see someone above has flashed new roms, but no luck?
Do I just send back?
The issue seems very odd as I haven't encountered it even once today.
I'm getting curious just what might be causing it.
The only fix I found to work was by going to my cell provider. They provisioned my new Mi MIX 2 into their system (3rd phone - same sim card).
The title says it all. My watch will not reconnect to WiFi networks one the bluetooth connection is lost. It just doesn't do anything! I have to open the WiFi Network settings menu. Only then will it actually search for Wifi networks. This is getting annoying. Am I doing something wrong?
You're doing nothing wrong, had that same problem.
The (temporary) solution, until Samsung fixes that bug, is to
1. Deactivate WiFi profile sync in the Galaxy App 8n you phone.
2. Delete the connection one last time on the watch
3. Scan for the WiFi and put in the password
Done. Now it should connect without a problem - at least that's what it did for me.
