Hello,
I´m facing a strong problem with my HOX, but have no info enough to proceed with any procedure.
I want to flash a new ROM to have a newer Android version due to some Gapps features not working.
First of all, I proceed with the unlock which worked.
Second (and not sure if it was really necessary, but I read that was) I tried to root the HOX and than my nightmare started !
Now the HOX is not connecting with my notebook, it is not booting, just keeping on initial white screen.
I have lots of questions.
1. USB driver for HOX and ADB driver are the same thing ? If no, which one do I need ?
As far as I understood, USB driver is used to get communication between the HOX and notebook.
2. Just HOX USB driver is enough to have ADB working ???
3. Where can I find a driver (USB and/or ADB) that works fine ? I tried lot of downloads, but some situations come up: link doesn´t work, page doesn´t exist anymore, files corrupted, etc.
After the downloads and drivers (don´t know which one) intalled, the HOX is supposed to connect with the notebook, right ?
4. Which should be the next step ? Flash a recovery package (twrp-3.0.2-0-test-endeavoru) ? Flash a ROM ?
I´m sorry for so many questions and a new post, but I put a tread on another post and the answers were not enough for me, so I decided to start a new one in order to avoid "trash" on the other post.
Is there anybody here that can support me ?
My e-mail is [email protected]
I guess for so many questions use the e-mail would be better to avoid lots of treads/interactions...
Tks in advance !
Regards,
Cassio
Mr. Administrator,
Could you please remove the tread ?

Hi guys I am sorry if I am posting this in the wrong forum or if this has already been asked elsewhere.
My universal was running great all my apps on wm5 lovely I even just bought copilot for it and that worked great also! I then found the HTC home feature that displays on your today screen I installed this on wm5 and it worked but not very well so I decided to flash my universal with the wm6 rom customized to run on my system with 64mb ram. I think the biggest mistake I made was trying to do this under windows vista as the pc crashed leaving my Universal saying Serial (or USB if connected to pc) and displaying v2.0.1 at bottom. I have tried to recover the device using the methods on the wiki but the device is recognised by the pc as a mobile pocket PC and is refusing to allow me to update the driver so I cannot install the usb modem driver for vista! I am going to my brothers this evening and will try to recover again on an XP system I hope it work I have only had my universal for 4 days! I had aq smilar experience with my SPC C600 when I first got that - I love fidling thats my problem!!! - One last thing to point out is that I do not know it thte device if fully unlocked, I presume as it has gone to the stage of stuck on bootloader it must be?!? Any positive words of encouragement welcome!
Regards
Gene
Anyone! lol I know this was only posted an hour ago - I guess I am stuck in bootlader is that correct?
Hi Guys I have managed to ressurect my universal it was stuck in bootloader! I am going to attepmt to reflash my device with a win moble 6 rom, are there any recommendations for the Universal mine was shipped as the 02 Xda Exec, I appreciate you will probably tell me that I just to try one and see if it works but I would rather use a rom which has been tested as working as stable, I have downloaded the wm6 rom which was "adaptedK for a universal equipped with only 64mb of ram Has anyone used this rom? I also need to totally unlock this device to ensure a happy upgrade, But the link on here for the tool (in the wiki also) seem to be dead I hope one of you can point me in the right direction The main reason I want to upgrade to WM6 is so I can use the HTC home plugin. I know this is available for WM5 but it does not display correctly on my device it appears squashed up?? If I can correct this under WM5 then I see no need to upgrade to WM6?
Many Thanks for your help
Gene.
just use uni_exitbootloader.exe
2klik on your pc just try
Hi,
First of all, apologies if this is in the wrong place, a stupid question or you feel that I'm being lazy but I haven't done a flash in years and can't afford to fork out more dosh for a new handset if I brick it.
I just need someone to confirm that these steps and my understanding is correct.
My handset is a totally virgin Polaris 200 so I understand I first need HardSPL.
I have 2 links for this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351964
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375338
The latter is a newer post (thanks Olipro) so I assume that this is the best one to go for.
To perform HardSPL do this
How to install HARD-SPL! (You MUST do it first and once!)
Download Hard-spl, and unpack it to a folder.
Connect your PDA to PC, and be sure Active Sync can connect to it.
From the Hard-spl folder, run RomUpdateUtility. (push Next, Next, and Update…)
Your will see a tricolor screen on your PDA.
It will ask you to Replug your usb Cable. DO IT!
The screen will be grey, and a few seconds later hard-spl will be installed.

After that I need a cooked ROM...
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425612 and think it looks great. (thanks udK)
I assume i follow the steps below
How to install a cooked ROM.
* Put device in bootloader mode.
* Run Polaris_CustomRUU.exe and good luck.

I should then do a hard reset to finalise the flash.
If my radio doesn't work with this ROM then I will have to look for a different one that does.
I will plug in my old XP box for the flash to save any extra complications from using Vista.
Can someone please confirm if this process is correct or not.
A simple yes or no will do.
Thanks
ok i'm running Olipros unlocker.exe and all is going well.
one question though:
to flash the rom do i just execute the update program inside the same dir as the ROM
oh it's beautiful! thanks to Olipro and udK for their work. I love it!
Hi Guys,
I read all the threads regarding rooting HTC hero but but haven't been able to find how to do same using mac . I downloaded SDK but main issue is, it doesn't have "fastboot" file and has only "adb" file. Can I just use "adb" and go on.
Can someone point me to correct direction. Also, will rooting means I can unlock my phone as it means I will have control over my phone, isn't it ?
Thanks
Inder Vaid
fastboot is a tool from htc, you need to get it from them. not sure about a mac version, but iirc they offer one.
You can try using the flashrec.apk instead of the fastboot method. It worked for me, as I couldn't get fastboot to work.
you can get the mac version of fastboot here http://developer.htc.com/adp.html

you need to tell us where you get stuck, otherwise these are valid instructions...
Just like craig0r I used flashrec and it worked perfectly. I followed these instructions: http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/19660-guide-installing-modaco-custom-rom.html
I guess you could use any other rooted rom as well. I used Modaco and was then able to install others.
Ok so I've been looking for a rooting method for my Kindle Fire( non hd ) with 10.3.0 fw
you mention the forum, ive looked in it. but im not able to find a single place which provides a method for that. so my question is this: is there a working method to root a Kindle Fire (nonHD) 10.3.0 fw without a factory cable? im assuming my KF is a 2nd gen model (it is, isnt it?). if so, please explain or provide a link for that.
also, every place i see says : ** ONLY FOR 1ST GEN. TRY FOR 2ND GEN AT YOUR OWN RISK **. it says so on the TWRP help forums and even the KFU help forums. what do i do??
Im not new to using the downloading apk method to get apps, but off lately whenever i download an apk from silk browser onto my KF and the notification pops that the download is complete, i click on the notification which is what you do to install that apk. but when i hit the notification, *nothing* happens. absolutely nothing. the notification disappears and the app is not installed. why? :/
regarding the problem with apks, i even mailed it to myself and tried downloading it from the stock email app, but no, even from the email app, the APK (as an attachment) refuses to start downloading
any help is appreciated
I believe you're in the wrong forum. That's why you only see "ONLY FOR 1ST GEN"
Try this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1789

if you dont mind, could you please write me an in-depth step by step instructional for this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146030

I don't think you understand my point, brother.
I said you are in the wrong forum. This is the 1stGen KF forum.
Your device is 2ndGen.
I can write up an instructions but again, it's for 1stGen since I don't have the 2ndGen.
Follow instructions for device A to device B is UNWISE.
You don't want to brick your KF and you know I don't want indirectly bricking your device.
My suggestion once again: go to the 2ndGen forum and ask for help, I'm sure there are many experts there will help you through.
Hello all!
I am in dire need of assistance and unsure of what to do next
The tablet I have is a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 7.0<stands for 7 inches? Model number is: SM-T210 and the Android version is 4.2.2. I believe this is the 2013 version tablet.
Short Version: :
I need some help and understanding of what order to do these things.
I read that installing a custom ROM helps with the performance a lot
Do I install the custom ROM first? Or do I need a custom recovery ( TWRP being the popular on)
Also, does my device need to be rooted?
A little confused at the order, what I do/do not need, and where to download all this from
Any more enlightnemt about what I should do next will be really helpful.
Otherwise I will just have to purchase a tablet :? (will installing a custom rom, rooting etc actually make my painfully slow tab3 faster? Or shall I just buy a new tablet?)
Long Version
Just some background info this current tablet:
The other day I 'foraged and found' the Samsug Galaxy Tab3 that my father was given for free with the purchase of his Samsung phone back in 2013. The tablet was hardly used, no files (photos or documents), some apps on there, basic use from him at work. I have used it for a few days and it is quite slow/performance etc. This is after the factory reset, but not sure if I will keep it as its still a bit sluggish and driving me nuts!. I have performed the standard and basic 'how to make your tablet faster', by turning animations to 0.5, downloading a differnt launcher, moving apps to microSD card etc but it doesnt help a lot.
So I was going to purchase another cheap(ish) tablet, but some wandering research has allowed me to stumble upon info about 'installing custom ROM's, flashing, backing up using TWRP custom recovery'.
Now I am no noob when it comes to tech. as 'I am a 90's kid who grew up with it' . But I am also no expert, however I come with open arms when learning about new techie methods/techniques.
And this installing custom ROM's sounds interesting, especially as my tablet is not really usable everyday, so I dont have anything to lose by tweaking it!
So I thought, lets start by watching a video 'How to Install A Custom ROM On Any Android Device (2018)'> But then it mentions that I need a custom recovery, TWRP being the popular one> But then that video tutorial says that I need my device to be rooted! So thats 3 different video tutorials that I need to follow. But I read that it does not need to be rooted, then I read that you dont need a PC for custom ROM's but some videos use it..oh God! As you can probably tell, this is really confusing for someone approaching this new area of 'rooting/custom rom'.
I would really like some help/advice about where I should start, what tutorials to use (I do like videos), what to download, what devices I need, softwares etc!
Hopefully the information I have provided helps
Thank you!
This is not the right forum for your tablet. You have a Galaxy Tab 3, this forum is for the Galaxy Tab S3.
You should head over to the Galaxy Tab 3 forum.

No one is able to help?
Might just have to buy a new tablet.
Was hoping I could experiment/test with this tablet I currently have
I m not familiar with your device, but steps are always the same: 1. Flash recovery with Odin (TWRP for example) 2. Copy Rom and Gapps to your device's SD 3. Boot to recovery 4. Follow ROM installation instructions. Happy Flashing, don't forget to enable USB debugging. Cheers A

Hey!
So I do not need to root my tablet? Many people say you have to? Maybe its best I do that?
Also, many different tutorials show different orders of installing and using different methods?
And, can I just do everything on my tablet or do I have to use my PC?
Do I need to install any apps or just to to certain websites on the tablet and install things?
Any specific links and order of doing them would help a bunch!
P.S What do you mean by "copy Gaps"? Do you mean apps?

Like I said I am not familiar with your device so I can't give you such a specific advice. You have to find out by yourself. Read threads, completely. Follow things being discussed already and find solutions for problems that's been already solved. This is what I do
