Hi guys,
ive found some bike mounts for the s2, but none of them looked solid enough to be ready for my mountainbike.
The phone should be completely covered by plastic, plexiglass or another material solid enough to survive light blows, dirt and light rain, and it should not fall of after passing the first curb.
Any suggestions?
i´ve seen mountainbike mounts for other mobile devices wich could work perfectly for the SGS II, maybe you shouldn´t look for a specific mount for the SGSII, just look for a mountainbike mount for a mobile device with a similar size as the SGS II.
Another interested here ^^ When i got the phone in a few weeks, i´ll look for that mount too.
Be very careful.
If you are MTBing versus riding on the road. The vibrations are too harsh and cause issues with the internal connectors.
I personally have lost a garmin GPS and my HTC Polaris phones. First ride and within 15 mins started rebooting etc. Garmin stated to reboot with just fine knocks.
Warned a mate when he was mounting a iphone, decided to risk it and 5 mins his touchscreen failed. Another mate his iphone started to reboot.
this may be ok... :

I bought one but still waiting for delivery
Agaryt, please report when you test it. I'm rally curious if this will do the job.
no problem
I should have it before Thursday , so no late than Monday I let you know how does it work
Very interested too!
Looks exactly like what I was looking for, looking forward to hands-on report.
I was thinking about buying this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004Q4Q6QS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=stdscaba-21
but one found by agaryt looks better, although it is bit more expensive.
Was biking the other day and wondering this very thing, however...

...this post does worry me. Biking can lead to very sharp knocks while riding along the trails, and even a phone in a lined case would be at risk.
Normal city and tour riding would likely be fine... but proper mountain biking? The potential something to be concerned about imo.
The one agaryt linked to on Ebay does look great though... if I was to get one out of that one and the one posted on Amazon i'd definitely spend the measly few pounds extra and get that one.
im also quite worried about vibration on the bike even without any connector.
i'd much rather have something to snap the phone on my (inner, up, to protect it) arm for example. you can see still the track etc quite easily (not as easily as if its mounted on the bike, but much better than in the pocket..)
I think ill buy one of the allready mentioned universal mounts where the s2 is put into a "bag" (the one from ebay looks great).
As there is no solid connection between handlebar and s2, i don`t think that those fine vibrations are a problem. Maybe theres even enough space in the bag to add some extra, soft material to absorb vibrations.
Also i think that the phone is safer on the bikes handlebar than on my arm, as i landed in hospital twice while my bike was undamaged ^^
Hmm, I would be a little nervous about the connector from the case to the mount.
Also, I assume you can feed a charging cable in where the two zips meet?
I would love to be able to use my phone on my bike and do away with my seperate SatNav. After a mount I would just need a bluetooth helmet!
Have you looked into these? I have universal mount for my iPhone and works perfectly.

Hello
Do you remember it ?
for_bike
I've got it for couple day now .
I have to say , It is really waterproof , I don't mean you can swim with it but I was running when rain and my galaxy was safe . After finish was totally dry ... That the most important for me .The problem is when you want to use headphones . There no hole for it . But to be honest if you biking better option is bluetooh headphones anyway . Quality is really well .
I took some pictures for everybody.
Any questions just let me know .

Thanks for the update Gary.I have to say that I wouldn't want to use my S2 in the front of either my road or mountain bike even if these holders do look fairly secure.
I have a Garmin 705 which is a dedicated unit for cycling. Routing is way easier to sort out and I also get helpful stats such as cadence and HR too. A bluetooth HR monitor is quite expensive for what it is.

this looks good
orderd one
i made a mountenbike trip last week from 400 km in 4 days
and i whas using a universal bike holder but the weather was dry and sunny.
i used Osmand to navigate and its realy great i think its the best app for the bike.
The bad thing whas my battery (only 4 hours of navigation)
so i need a 3500mah or more battery for a minimum of 8 hours navigation.
Thanks Agaryt!
Few questions:
1. Is the screen remains visible under the cover?
2. Can you use the touch screen?
3. What about the vibrations during the ride? Is the phone OK inside?
Some general advice from someone who used a mount with his old SGS1:
Most of these mounts have a mounting part that is attached to the bike and then some kind of click-lock system to hold the actual device in place. If so, then that is a very important weak point that you will want to look out for! These point can get loose and will sling your phone into the air if you don't secure them additionally with some straps or whatever fits your specific holder.
My I9000 had to experience that several times (albeit with no permanent damage outside of scratches) and this was not on something as wild as a MTB but something as "smooth" as a racing bike (on flat asphalt, although you need some kind of bump to make the phone fly off)

Hello .
Screen is visible very well and touch screen works more than good . Honestly I didn't ride with it yet . I was running twice so far included once when rain and both times phone was dry after .
I used two different arm band for my galaxy and galaxy 2 but nothing protected as good as this one . I mean protection against damp (sweat ) or rain .

Hi,
I have tried to search a lot, but I cannot seem to find any head camera mount for my Galaxy S II. Does anyone know if such a thing exists for this superphone? It would be a shame if I could not video my roller coaster journey in Disneyland I would be visiting shortly
Honestly I'd rather risk having a $100 dedicated head/helmet cam fly off into oblivion than a $600 phone, especially with all the air drag/centrifugal force. For the same reason I don't believe there's on exist.
Alternatively you can always hold it in your hands, with addition of lanyard of course.
Lol.. I guess you are right. But I am sure if executed properly, there could be a decent and safe head mount made for smartphones. Its a pity no one has tried that yet...
Why would they bother to make one when you can get a gopro that work great and better than a SG S2...

Really? Haha it would look so funny. I doubt you could get one. Maybe a bicycle helmet with lots of sellotape!

I'm sure it could, but hold the phone up to your forehead and go look in the mirror, would you? I wouldn't lol.
Never use your S II as a helmet cam (or as a cam mounted on your head). It will have too much jitter.
Back in January 2011, I went snowboarding in Niseko Japan. I mounted my S I on my helmet with an improvised Kodak helmet cam mount. Bad idea. Not only did it look really funny on your head, but it also flopped forward and backward, resulting in a very jittery footage.
Stick with GoPro - it's well proven.
Yeah, I'm a geek with no fashion sense but I'm happy and the Note is always with me, handy, and well protected.
I've got the Seidio active with kickstand case for protection and so I can wear it on my belt.
I run several times a week here in Houston and I sweat like a pig. So I put the note with its case inside a LokSak bag. The Loksak'ed Note goes inside a SPIbelt for workouts so I can use the Zephyr bluetooth heart rate monitor and my Jaybird headphones while I run.
For the car, I've got the X mount from RAM Mounts. It is a snug fit but with a little practice I can get it in and out of the cradle without taking off the case.
For the bicycle / motorcycle I've got the RAM mount Aquabox. The fit is perfect, it is a friction fit in the frame of the aquabox. The aquabox is way too deep but for now I just store my wallet there. Eventually I will try to throw an extended battery there if I can figure out the electrical connection. Touch events don't work through the plastic screen cover but if I hope to cannibalize a spen for a workaround.
Hope this helps some note accessory freaks.
Can you actually see where you're driving in your car with the Note directly in front of you?!
I've got my mount clipped to an air vent, still in reach and doesn't get in the way of my view! Also, your Note won't get fried by the sun on a hot day, instead it'll be cooled by the AC.
I like the decorative stand(?) in pics 5 and 6 the most

It looks bad in the picture but sitting in the car you are much higher and it does not block much view. I'll put it this way, if something is close enough to be obscured from that angle, you're already gonna hit it anyway .
you have more accessories that the chinese sellers on ebay!
Geez dude, do you go cycling through waterfalls? You could put that mount on a submarine!
Glad to see there's at least a lot of accessory support for the Galaxy Note
which size aquabox do you have?
I'd guess the medium/wide one, but please verify.

When I do a century ride in Houston, I am the waterfall. I've sweated off several pounds of fluid in a single ride. I'm not taking any chances with salty sweat dripping on my $600 no warranty phone.

I don't have pics of my setup, but it's pretty similar to this, just without the swivel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynCiG3eUfWM
Search for "air vent mount carkit" or something like that, they're pretty common. The one I got is a universal one, not specifically to the Note. IMO, much more convenient, because other people can use it too. And you don't have to get rid of it when you get your Note 2

According to my Amazon order history, 4.5" by 7"
Hey bicyclist:
Any of you tempted to buy this?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/220900016894?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I was thinking you could Saran Wrap it for good measure.
You could use it as a
-$700 speedometer
-GPS turn by turn
-Texting while riding
Hoping that the whole unit doesn't fall off, let alone the Note falling off by itself.

I have serious concerns about these. They use the same plastics and mounts as the car mounts, several of which I have broken. Its one thing it falling off in a car, but on a bike doing 20mph on concrete? Scary thought
I would love to see what you think about it when you get one!
Otherwise, these seem like a better alternative.
When I had a Desire I used to have this
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/bicycle-phone-holder-p14252.htm
And I found a really similar for the Note
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?itemId=120875970274&index=17&nav=SEARCH&nid=48128193136
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/capdase-bike-mount-holder-p25473.htm
When I had that one for my Desire it was REALLY stable. Few times I have riden 40km/h+ and on a bumpy tarmac with the phone mounted and it held it perfectly.
Noted by Noting from my Noteful Note
I have the exact same mount, and the note rides my ZX12R, it is stable enough I would say, best bet is zip tie it over just to be safe.

I think I'll buy that Capdase one I linked.
Seems higher quality compared to that other.

Krypton, its the exact same one as in the original post, the one on ebay.
For some reason I don't trust that mount on the original post.
Rubber band to attach to handle bar? Only two corners and the opposite side secured of our expensive phone?
I feel it's not gonna last very well during any kind of bumpy riding nor is it gonna stay at fixed position because of that rubber band used to attach to handle bar.
At least the Capdase model I'm looking at has proper mounting. Not so sure about how well the actual phone mount secures our Note considering how wide and thin our phone is.

HTC One X Official Car Dock keeps falling off windscreen
Anyone else experiencing this problem? It sucks initially to the windscreen, but then after a few dockings or after driving a while it keeps falling off...
I've applying some moist etc but to no avail. Any Ideas maybe?
I've just ordered one and it's due to arrive next week, Is yours still under warranty? I'd be tempted to get it exchanged.
The HTC site mentions a 'Dash board mount pad' as an alternative method of mounting.
See the thing is that I modified the dock a little bit to allow my One X + its case to fit in the dock, so I believe returning it for warranty claim is out of the question. Of course before I modified it I tested to see if it works, and it seemed 100%, that is until I started using it.
(BTW The modification was to the holder part itself, not the suction cup, so that couldn't be the problem)
I guess I'd have to try with the dashboard plate.. Thanks for your input mate..
Hope this does not sound dumb but have you cleaned the windscreen and suction cup. I drive a number of different company vans and it's like driving with cataracts, nothing sticks to the windscreens except spit and coffee

same here its chipped the corner of my phone and put a dent on the camera lens. not happy returned it Amazon gave me a refund.
it's probably just a crappy suction cup.
i use exomount by exogear, has never fallen off, and i've used it for probably close to a year now.
it also can be stuck to almost any surface, and will securely hold any phone with upto a 5 inch screen.
reverse the mount (clip it on to vent) and use the suction cup to stick your tablet/kindle on.
it's great.
brought another official car dock came in this morning. set it up and this one stays stuck on the windscreen....
OP its definitely a faulty suction cup. i even tried the dash mouth the suction cup failed to stick to that. but this new one is great.
