I'm experiencing problems with counting steps on my SWR50:
- When I walk very fast it seems to miss steps. The other day I walked 10 km and it had recorded about 6000 steps while it should be well over 10k steps.
- Today I was walking over 4 km and near the end of the walk the steps shown was over 5000. But when I was back I noticed that the stepcount was on little over 2900. Sometime later it was on around 4300 although I had been sitting. This is on Classic Watchface. But if I look at the Bubbles watchface it shows 6.8k steps.
- When I look in Google Fit is says also around 4300 steps while Lifelog says 6200 steps.
Has anyone noticed the same? Is there a way to get a uniform reading?
And especially how can I make it record my steps properly when I walk fast?
I had similar issues but I eventually gave up. My primary use was for fitness tracking and it was just too inconsistent. I've put my smartwatch up for sale and bought a Fitbit blaze. The notifications are read only but I never really used voice commands and always had issues with gps so it felt like an easy trade off.
My SWR50 stopped recording steps at all in recent few weeks. I think it had to do with some Google S/W update that was pushed without any input on my part. (Gplay services framework or Google App or something)
I eventually got tired of it registering nothing, so I un-paired it and re-paired it with my phone. Shortly after that I noticed it had recorded a few steps. Yay!
The next day, it was back to nothing again.
It always shows up in Android Wear and it still alerts on phone notifications, just doesn't record steps any more.

I've had my Moto360 for seven days... pedometer worked great the first two days, then Zero. The last five days show 0 Steps, but the first two show over 2,000... I've restarted the watch and phone. Heart monitor works fine. Bad sensor maybe?
Please help!
Did you turn off save fitness data?
That was it. Sorry for being a dumbass... I didn't knowingly turn off save fitness data, but sure enough it was turned off. Anyway, thank you the reply!
How do you turn it back on
moto 360 wont register any steps.
I have the same issue. for the first week, the pedometer on the moto360 worked, and showed my complete step history on the watch. Then something happened, either when I installed google fit on the phone (which I have now removed), or I opened s-health on the phone (samsung galaxy note 4) which was a huge mistake. Prior to this, I never used any fitness apps on the phone, and it did not register my steps.
Now only the phone registers steps (badly, about 2x the actual steps), and the watch registers no steps, but shows steps from the phone. E.g. If I take 100 steps wearing only the watch, 0 steps are registered and displayed. If I take 100 steps holding the phone (not wearing the watch), it registers around 200 steps. If I take 100 steps both holding the phone and wearing the watch, it registers 200 steps.
There does not seem to be any way to disable step registering on the phone, and enable it on the watch - I guess this is an incompatibility between moto fit, samsung s-health, and google fit - all 3 apps are not compatible, and there is no way to uninstall or disable any of them. In this regard the iwatch has a clear advantage (for rich people).
The other issue is that I don't want location services on on my phone - I value my battery. If I disable all location services, then no steps are registered, neither if I walk with the phone nor watch.
Install moto body. Without it , fit won't register steps. I almost sent my watch in for repair thinking it was broken. Fixed my issue.

The software seems a bit flaky. New SMS does not display message details......still investigating
I eventually managed to download music tracks to the device and they played okay over bluetooth headphones. Not tried the GPS yet
Any questions I will try and answer

Can you run my tracks via the start on the phone (offline mode) that used watch GPS and let me know if the music stutters? It seems to happen when bluetooth and internal GPS are enabled...im on 2nd device and same issue
download my tracks to phone, then go to apps on watch and run that app, then start music via watch memory

Sure...
Download My tracks (google) from play store. Get google music (if not already) and download some songs to your watch...do this by downloading to your phone first (offline) and then selecting in music options to download to android wear. Let a few songs load over.
Go outside. Go to the watch (make sure far from phone and disconnected). Start tracks with the start menu. Then do start on that
Now do play music from the same menu as start.
Go for a jog
OP's can help us all (please; this is a suggestion not a criticism) by listing what they are pairing with :good:

I've had mine since Friday. Have you found any way use the running apps without the phone and use the watch gps? I bought this to replace my motoactiv but stava and runtastic won't allow me to start a run without being connected to the phone.

Download google tracks to your phone.
It will work in offline mode and give you distance and time via the watch GPS. Start it via the start menu and select tracks. The running apps are still through the phone currently.

It didn't work for me yesterday when I tried during my run. Started it from the watch when I was not with my phone and the distance just stayed at 0

Give it a minute and you should see a little location google stake on the top left. It worked for me and i could see my entire mapped run via tracks afterwards. Make you start it, give it a minute and then try. It took mine about .15 of a mile to kick in
You can also go into GPS test under Settings- Developer options - manufacturer - GPS and press start to check time to first fix.

I don't think this is a defect. It is the trade-off for the tft tech making it fully daylight readable. Mine also has this. I'm torn on the trade-off, on the one hand, it is leagues better than even the moto 360 for reading in direct sunlight (it's almost like a mirasol display), but on the other, the 360's screen was very pretty. I'm leaning towards being "ok" with it, since I don't think I'm going to watch any movies on my wrist, but I will probably want to deal with notifications in unideal lighting, but it is definitely an adjustment.
I don't mind the yellow. Its actually not that bad and the screen is definitely visible in the daylight. I am really liking this watch alongside with my Microsoft Band.

How is the health tracking on the band? This watch has some great features, but none of the android wear watches do true health tracking very well yet, and even if it had a heart rate monitor, I've been unimpressed with the ones on the 360 and gear live, so I've been thinking about adding something purely for the health side of things.

The band is great. Its not big and it definitely doe fitness better than the Android Wear. The 24/7 heart rate tracker gives you a better count on how many calories burned, and the only feature that you lose when not using the Windows Phone is Cortana. When I was using it on the 5K run that I had participated with the GPS on, the band was able to tell me where I was running fast and where I had slowed down and so fourth and it was very accurate along side the path that I was running on. The 5K reported that the run was 3.2 miles which was pretty dead on to the 5K. The pedometer is more accurate too compared to the android wear since mine will count steps even if I am pushing a shopping cart so all in all I really like the band for fitness with smartwatch duties as secondary. I can read everything just fine from the notifications when not using the Smartwatch 3, but at least now I can let the band do all my fitness stuff when I go on the run and have the Sony Smartwatch stream my music for me to run with. That way I don't have to carry the phone.
Thanks for confirming this. I guess there is no perfect solution out there for smart watches yet. The screen does bother me some times specially because i had the moto 360 and returned it. but that watch had its own set of problems.
guess i will be keeping this.
From the patent at http://www.google.com/patents/US8208104
It states "a change in chromaticity caused by wavelength dispersion due to the λ/4 plate."

As for on device tracking I hope that Sony and others will include support for just released google fit api on device.
My screen shows whites correctly. I don't see the yellowish problem here.
My screen is unimpressive (pale, low contrast) but OK. A colour tinge is normal for a transflective display, and it depends on the colour of the light you shine on it...the nice thing is that I can read it without the backlight in most situations.
What bothers me is, that some things that work on Google Now on my phone don't work via Wear Voice input. Setting alarms for example. It works fine on my phone, but not on my SW3. Why? On the Watch it always understands, but then just throws up a web search card...
Also, the "wrist flick" to activate the display is a bit weird. It works about 1 time out of ten, but if I just move my arm around randomly, then I often trigger the backlight. That's also a bit weird. I'm trying to get used to it. With my Pebble, I mostly just glanced at the watch without moving it in front of my eyes. That worked fine. I had actually turned off the auto-backlight on Pebble and would probably do the same on the SW3 if I could.
The most annoying thing is the weak vibration of the SW3. With my Pebble, I feel (and hear) the vibrating alert, with the SW3 I miss it frequently even when I'm not moving around. That's unacceptable and might be the main reason for sending it back. I haven't decided yet.
Is there a way to increase the vibration intensity and length? That would be cool.
And one last thing, not directly related to the SW3...On my Pebble I get notifications for every email in my Gmail account, apart from SPAM. With Android Wear, I think not all labels are signalled. How do I change that? I tried to set it up in Gmail, but I think I still don't get all emails announced on the SW...
I've had the watch since Friday. On Friday & Saturday, it properly tracked steps. As of today, no more steps on both the watch and the Google Fit app on the phone. Anyone else experienced something like this?
I'm getting the same thing and its not getting my heart rate either. although the moto heart activity is working fine...
Not getting heart rate but getting steps through Fit. Are you guys using Google Fit?
Edit: I see you are using FIT OP, have you tried to use the Moto app to see if it counts steps?
IT WORKS! Ok. I had to blow away the cache and then uninstall Android Wear, Google Fit, reset the wear, go through the sequence a couple times. Now it's working.
VERY strange. Hopefully I don't have to do that often.
I had the same issue for one day, but it started working again after a soft reset on both the phone and the watch.
I have this problem too, but I don't use the pedometer anyway. Good to know that nothing hardware id broken and there are ways to fix it
I can't work out what the problem is here and it's frustrating the hell outta me!
Basically, it seemed to be working fine. On the 360 and within the Google Fit app my daily history could be seen.
Unrelated, I reset my HTC One M8 to factory. I did the same with the 360 and started over again.
Since then, Google Fit just doesn't seem interested in keeping my history. It has no problems counting steps and taking heart rate on the day. If on Monday I did 5,000 steps, come Tuesday when I look at my history on the 360 and on the phone, it will tell me how many steps I've done Tuesday (today) but in the history part it displays nothing. The graph on the watch will display only today. Yesterdays, day before, day before that etc. - nothing. On the watch it will have a 0 next to the day. In the app it will simply say 'your activities will appear here' - but they never do.
I've tried clearing Fit data from within the app and from the Android apps menu, resyncing apps, resetting watch, repairing watch with phone, uninstalling everything to do with Fit and the 360. To no avail. Irritatingly my father in law has a 360 but paired with a Note II and he has no problem recording and viewing his history.
I'm not sure where the fault lies, whether it's with the 360, Google Fit or my HTC One M8.
Anyone else experiencing the same?
I recently upgraded my HTC One M8 from CM13 to Lineage 14.1. I did a full wipe of the phone, installed the latest OpenGApps and reinstalled all my apps including the latest Android Wear app. I also wiped my Smartwatch 3 and reconnected it to my phone. Since the upgrade the stepcount from my watch isn't syncing to my phone (or online to fit.google.com). Other stuff syncs and all my apps are there as they were previously (Skype, Whatsapp, Hangouts, Maps, Music etc. Plus if I start a fit workout on my watch, this syncs fine and is displayed on my phone and online. It just seems to be steps, activity time and calories that don't get sync'd.
I have hard-reset the watch a couple of times, resync'd apps etc and the behaviour is the same. Currently my watch is displaying 729 steps and 641 calories. My phone (and online) however are showing 263 steps and 743 calories.
Any ideas?
Andy
EDIT: I have been playing around with resetting various things and it seems it is just one-way that isn't working - from the watch. So I managed to clear everything off on the watch and it then sync'd the steps recorded on the phone to the watch (311 steps). I then put the watch back on my wrist and now it says 327 steps on the watch, however the phone and online still says 311. I then took the watch off and walked about a bit with my phone in hand and the screen on and the steps increased to 399. Shortly after this appeared online and my watch updated to 415 steps. I then put the phone down and put the watch back on, walked about a bit and the steps increased on it to 450, however the phone and online still say 399.
So it appears to be just the steps (and calories) that aren't syncing from the watch to the phone, however its working from the phone to the watch.
hmm....

Just to let you know you're not the only one, I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I bought the SW3 to replace my FitBit charge HR, but still wanted my steps to sync to the fitbit app (my health insurance uses fitbit data for rewards but doesn't support Google Fit). Managed to find a third party solution, but the steps are always significantly lower than are recorded on the watch - so again, steps are not syncing from the watch to the google fit app/fitbit app, but ARE syncing the other way around :/
I un-paired my SW3 from my phone (HTC One M8 running the latest Lineage nightly) and the SW3 did a factory reset. On initial pairing and syncing I was left with the old Google Fit app on the watch - the one without the 'Fit Activity' option. I noticed however that the steps, distance and calorie information recorded on the SW3 sync'd with Google fit on my phone.
I went through the hoops trying to get the latest Android Wear Google Fit application loaded on the watch (v1.64.06-200) eventually having to sideload it via ADB. Its installed now however the steps, distance and calorie information are no longer sync'd so I guess this is a bug in either the wearable Fit .apk or the phone Fit .apk. Starting a Fit activity on the watch such as walking sync's OK so I am wondering whether this is a design feature?

Same issue
Difficult to digest this is still not resolved. My steps and activities captured on Sony smartwatch 3 aren't getting synced with phone or web. Any workaround please?
