[Q] Making a backup?

can anyone point to any tutorial in making a backup? having a hard time looking.. or can anyone explain..

i learnt it just now how to do that. beacuse i didnt find any step by step for it.
so:
1click here and download the exe file from the first comment.
2 enable usb debugging and connect your phone to cumputer
3 than start the dowloaded wfs managger.exe
4, type 1 (root and install recovery)
5, w8 until it finish (about 3-5 min), turn off your phone (but first u need to disenable fast boot) and push vol down + power button
6 from now its very easy, just follow this movie

[Guide]how to get downloaded files to PC from Windows phone using UC browser

You need
1. WIndows mobile device center
2. Zune
3. Fully unlocked (not tested on other unlocks)
4. UC browser (may be possible with other browsers)
0. Initially download a test file in UC browser and note the size and file name (this is to find download location)
1 .Connect your phone, open zune, and finish syncing.
2 .After complete sync, open WMDC in PC and phone (check WMDC thread for more info)
3. When your phone is detected and connected in WMDC (in PC), open my computer and your phone's storage devices will be shown there .
4. Now open storage / application / data and search the file name and you will get the download folder . Eg:- {Computer\HTC HD2\\\Applications\Data\6CDA5651-56B9-48B0-8771-91DBC188F873\Data\IsolatedStore\Download}
copy this location into some text file for easy access .
5. enjoy.

if you phone is fully unlocked, may be you can take almost all file from phone(not sure) . if its bootloader you are talking about you might need to contact cotulla .

[Q] Would like help-problems after JB update

incoming wall of text:
I have an xperia S. It had the international/generic ICS on it and i was very happy with it...(im in the UK on giffgaff and this seems to be the best for me)
a few days ago on a pc forum i read that sony had finally released JB for my handset, there was some arguing because it didnt show up when trying an OTA update but the advice was to plug the handset into a pc and use the sony update companion program.
I went through the process to update to JB using this method but when told to reconnect the phone my pc bluescreened; in total it bluescreened 5 times on the trot and my phone seemed to be 'in limbo'.
realising from the stop message in windows my rear usb 3 ports were the problem i plugged the xperia into the 'normal' front usb 2 port and tried it again- this time the process completed and i thought that all was well.
of course all is not well but im hoping its easy enough to fix. The problem is i randomly dont get any notification sounds.no whatsapp,calls,texts, twitter mentions... nothing; then i get home and take the phone out of my pocket and the led is flashing and i see i have missed messages etc.
so my question is how to fix it, but also is there kind of a way to ..... format it.. so i have a clean slate ?? Im going to assume at some point i will need to flash it with..something; what if anything will i lose (and therefore need to backup) will i be able to save things like my poweramp prefs and playlists ??

if your computer keeps on blue screening re-Install your OS / motherboard software
if you have done so and it doesnt blue screen when your XS is plugged in, the content below will tell you how to fix your XS (XS = xperia s)
method 1
1- install sony companion service or
2- go to support zone
3- click repair phone
4- follow instructions
method 2
1- download flashtool
2- download your phones latest FTF
3-click on flash
4- select the FTF you downloaded
5- follow instructions (back button = volume down)

send your phone/compter for repairs or use a freinds computer
