why would any company commit commercial suicide ELEPHONE???? - Elephone P8000

Hmmm seams to me that the p8000 and the p9000 (as they are the only 2 ive came into contact with) have great spec but Elephone have really dropped the ball when it comes to the software as the software does not support NFC payments including GOOGLE pay WHY would any company cut its own throat like this people wont buy Elephone again and they will go bust

HTC and Apple Solve Patent Suit

Some good news guys.HTC and Apple have finally signed new license agreement that has solved the ongoing patent suit.
Agreement ends current lawsuits; license covers current and future patents for 10 years
Apple and HTC this evening in a joint statement announced they've settled their patent dispute and have agreed to a 10-year license of current and future patents.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Here's the joint statement, released by HTC and Apple:
TAIPEI, Taiwan and CUPERTINO, California—November 10, 2012—HTC and Apple have reached a global settlement that includes the dismissal of all current lawsuits and a ten-year license agreement. The license extends to current and future patents held by both parties. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
“HTC is pleased to have resolved its dispute with Apple, so HTC can focus on innovation instead of litigation,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC.
“We are glad to have reached a settlement with HTC,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. “We will continue to stay laser focused on product innovation.”
The two companies this year became embroiled in a suit that ultimately led to a temporary ban on the HTC One X for AT&T and its Sprint counterpart, the HTC EVO 4G LTE. That took some of the wind of the sails for those two devices, at least in the smartphone world, even though the EVO 4G LTE only missed its scheduled launch date by a week, and the HTC One X never really disappeared from store shelves.
I still say **** apple.
it seems they payed one way or the other
Yes just don't forget HTC forced apple's hands with their LTE patents

This is definetely good news for HTC lovers.
This shows that, even Apple comes out tomorrow anouncing that they have settled things with Sammy too, hTC has realized that Apple is not their main rival but Sammy is.
I don't enjoy the Apple we're seeing in the last 5 years too, but the truth does not change, the US Patent Office does give ridiculous patents.
Htc phone is expensive coz have to pay Microsoft every unit sold ... Now pay apple too

HTC is paying apprx $8 for each device. Would you consider any mobile device "expensive" if they put an additional $10 after setting the market price?
I don't think that Apple requested any money from HTC even if they were the stronger part in this deal. What Apple wants is to pull Samsung down from the crown, and HTC is the only company to achieve this, not Apple itself.
They won $1billion from Samsung after the patent case, and just in days Samsung have made them pay an additional $4 billions (estimated) by pricing up the processors.
Also the same reason why Apple got "sweet" with Microsoft.

Callout Request for Custom Mod ROM for the ZeaPlus M7 (Good Specs & Cheap)

So today I just managed to buy in a flash sale the ZeaPlus M7 which has, quote from a tech site:
powerful MT6752 octa-core chipset with 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM. There will be a fingerprint sensor on board, along with a massive 5.5-inch full HD panel. For camera, there will be a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter. Finally, it will feature a large 3800mAh removable battery

For $150 in their first flash sale, plus $30 for fast tracked courier (DHL). Apparently they say from Euro warehoiuse so it should be fast and tax free for me. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the back. The camera is the new Sony 13MP which is apparently running low on stock for newer models due to demand. Also the display is FullHD (1920 x 1080). Unlike the Elephone flash sales for the same spec and price this was fairly easy to buy, just after paypal I had to hunt around for the dispatch method as it gave error (no dispatch method chosen) but the button was there, remember this bit if going for their next flash sale. And I had to log into paypal again.
Anyway since some of the best android devs are here as we all know, I'd like to ask some to buy one in a flash sale for $149 or normal price of $199 and do a custom mod ROM of the high quality often found here for some phones. I.m not asking for a cyanogenmod level job, just a good job as many guys do here often. If you got good reps here, why not ask them for a free sample to send to you? They might do it if thery are smart enough.
Anyway keep an eye out for the next flash sales, much easier than elephone p7000 and same specs and components (might be same mother company owns both) but in fact more stylish and maybe even thinner than the elephone. I found out via these sites, the famous gizchina guy site, probably best for phone news:
http://www.gizchina.com/2015/06/14/zeaplus-m7-offered-at-149-during-limited-sales/
and the new small knockoff site:
http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/06/14/zeaplus-m7-to-be-available-at-just-149-during-flash-sale/
This was the flash site, was 9p.m. June 18th, so that code is dead, sold out in about an hour. Better than elephone codes which usually do not work as other sellers do not honour them as stage two at a later date, here you can buy from them in one stage and the window was quite long, about an hiour before sold out. Check for future sales, I do not know if they will have more but should hopefully:
http://www.zeaplus.com/m7-flash-sale
Check Beijing time to make sure you are on time if they do more flash sales as I did:
If a dev is already getting this delivered next week, here is the original ROM their forum admin just linked, something to start work on:
http://forum.zeaplus.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=669
Once I get this hopefully next week, I'll give my impressions. Whatever phone you're getting, these days I'd go for a good Octa processor, 3GB RAM (for mucho apps), FullHD (1920x1080), the 13MP Sony cam (another company is also just starting 13MP knockoffs) and a good display and fairly knock proof/bender. I also think 5.5" is minimum now for some websites and also time saving.
I can not give you the phone I bought, I only bought one and can not afford to buy another to give away. If someone is already starting work on this ROM, please let us know here, much apppreciated. Modifying ROMs from similar spec recent phones which already have Modded ROMs might be the fastest route.
Thanks for reading.
They just announced a $30 discount till end of June. Try the link I posted above. Shipping in Europe is also $30 but they say that includes import tax which they take care of. Also returns to support will be to Europe not China. If any dev interested please post & express an interest here and I'll post on their forum to look into your previous ROM(s) and hopefully persuade them to send you a free phone to develop on.
What convinced me was that the phone has two years warranty and is shipped from Europe. It seems to be a rebranded Mijue T500 by the way.
Thinking about buying it, so please someone with the ability to build a ROM came forward
Does this phone have LTE support for US carriers? Specifically T-Mobile?
SomeoNe on their forums posted a nice comparison link between this phone & Mijue T500:
http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/comparison/f297332e6
I want to see a full review before buy it but it need to get out till the end of the month (30€ discount on their website).
The Zeaplus M7 is the same phone as the Mijue t500 but rebadged.

Le Eco very troubled in the USA.

LeEco continues to try and recover from their ongoing financial issues. The company had big plans as they launched their expansion into the United States, but that was slowed to almost a dead stop once the financial issues became too much to bear. Not only were they running out of cash, but the debts they were in were also making investors really worried. It got so bad that many employees from their United States unit said their paychecks were getting delayed.
Due to these issues, the company backed out of their $2 billion acquisition of Vizio and even started looking to sell the piece of land they once bought from Yahoo. LeEco is part of a holdings company called Leshi Holding and until now, the founder and CEO of LeEco, Jia Yueting, was also the CEO of that publicly traded unit. Yesterday though, it was announced that Mr. Yueting would be stepping down as the CEO from Leshi Holding.
He will continue on as a chairman of the company, but Liang Jun will be stepping in as the new CEO of the company. Mr. Jun used to be an executive over at Lenovo but was hired by Leshi back in 2012. Jia Yueting apologized to investors and employees as he put the blame of Leshi’s development on a lack of focus. The company is putting their money on the new CEO in hopes that he will be able to step up and get things back on track.
This isn’t the only shakeup happening there though. The finance chief of Leshi had recently resigned due to personal reasons and it’s been confirmed that role will be filled by Zhang Wei. CNBC is even reporting that LeEco will be doing massive layoffs at their US branch today. This part has yet to be confirmed by an employee of LeEco, but the report claims up the staff will be cut back from over 500 to only 60.

Looks like they are going to really cut back in the USA. I would not expect much more official OTAs for US variant. Luckily, it looks like Chinese variant software works on our devices.

True. Like you said, fortunately the Chinese variant is compatible.
I will keep mine at least until next year and will make it a backup phone. The phones this year seem to be lethargic in performance and battery life. =D
Luckily there are other ROMs available for this phone. I kind of hope they have a fire sale and dump some for cheap I would pick another Pro 3 in a heartbeat. Just hope the community is able to keep the momentum going without Leeco. Would be a nice gesture to provide sources and etc for the phone if they aren't going to develop it anymore. I knew going in that this phone would be a gamble but for what I paid I can't complain at all.

How is the Oneplus Experience in India?

Hi,
I am thinking of buying a oneplus device , the coming month, as it seems to me the most value for money smartphone in the premium handset segment. The reviews are always great , but having always used a samsung or apple flagship ......I have a couple of questions to ask.
1. Customer Care service in India? :
I have been googling around and it seems Oneplus doesn't have a robust and a customer friendly Customer service network. There have been articles of people getting a invoice....twice the amount of the phone itself or amazon dragging its heals when it comes to replacing/refunding for a faulty unit.
I understand, probably apart from Nokia/Samsung/Apple, most companies don't provide good service in India. But one is more apprehensive about brands like Oneplus, Xiaomi, Vivo etc who rely mostly on online sales model and are relatively new. Also, you have videos from youtubers which slam these chinese brands for their after-sales service or the lack of it...
2. Durability/ Longevity ?
The other most heard complaint/opinion is that if the phone is priced less, then the company must have cut corners to save cost...Is oneplus doing so? There are videos on youtube which show it's black coating on the back panel isn't as durable, even if you use a cover.
I am looking for an honest opinion and please don't start a apple/samsung vs oneplus war here. I have for quite some time believed that 60-70 K charged by apple and samsung is a little too much when everyone knows that it cost less than half to make them... A price of around 40-44k is pretty ok , but not more.
Waiting for your opinions...
wait for 6T if u can
or buy 1+6
everything is osm

General XDA Article: Official Google Pixel parts are now available from iFixit

Official Google Pixel parts are now available from iFixit
If you like to take repairs into your own hands, you'll be happy to know that official Google Pixel parts are now available from iFixit.

Official Google Pixel parts are now available from iFixitSome months back, Google announced that it would be making Pixel replacement parts available through iFixit. Today, iFixit has announced that it is officially carrying parts for the Pixel 2, Pixel 6, and anything in between.
As mentioned prior, authentic parts for Google’s Pixel smartphones will now be available for purchase from iFixit. For the most part, parts are relatively reasonably priced and there is a wide range, from displays to mesh speaker grilles. The company will not only sell parts for replacement or repair, but it will also sell tools.
Those that are adventurous can look through the Google Pixel repair guides and forums, tackling repair projects with confidence. Of course, if you’ve never performed a repair on a smartphone or any other product, it might be better to leave things to a professional and take the product to an authorized repair center.
Google teased its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro during its Google I/O that took place in May. While these phones are set to arrive sometime later this year, Google has committed to offering parts for any future Google Pixel smartphones that come to be released.
Right to repair is winningWhile repairing your own product used to be a way of life, that slowly changed as products became more complicated. Many argued that there should still be a choice when it comes to repairs and anyone should have the option to fix their smartphone, just as if they would repair their own car. Despite some pushback from companies, some major brands have stepped up this year, giving consumers new options.
Perhaps one of the biggest names is Apple, which debuted its Self Service Repair program in late April. Samsung has also committed to the movement, stating that it will offer parts for repairs by summer. Another notable company is Valve, which offers replacement and repair parts for its Steam Deck and Index VR headset.
