For those that already have a note 2 could you please tell me what the external speaker is like?
Right now I have a galaxy nexus which for the most part I adore, but the external speaker absolutely blows. I work in construction so I often miss calls. I also use it to play music while I'm working and unless I'm in a fairly quiet area I can't hear it very well. Hands down the worst external speaker of the many smart phones I've owned.
I'm really hoping the Note 2 is improved on that.
Thanks..
The external speaker is pretty loud. Definitely a lot better than the Gnexus. On the Gnexus I had to install Volume+ or flash a rom with Beats Louder.
The problem is defining how loud is loud. Since you're in construction you might have different standards than others.
Although, I do feel that the internal speaker could use a bumping up but it's not too bad.

According to reviews it's finally solid but I look forward to experiencing the Note2 in person. I agree the Nexus speaker sucks & even was a dealbreaker for me, my EVO loudspeaker is solid & contributed to my 2010 decision. I hope future flagships pay more attention to the speaker quality & even include stereo speakers.
BTW, you could also consider external bluetooth speakers..
Well put it this way. You can hold a conversation with the loud speaker, while driving on the motorway/freeway. Impossible to do with htc sensation. Very clear and loud.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like this will be good for my needs.
As for the external bluetooth speakers. I've considered it but unfortunately not practical as I'm always on the move. So it has to be on the external speaker while in my pocket.
note 2 external speaker quality loud but poor
I like that its loud. But the quality and clarity leaves much to be desired. Also having an iPhone 5, the clarity to loudness ratio is like night and day. I'm sad because I much prefer the Note 2. If anyone has any tips or mods to greatly improve this please post. TIA

Have you considered something like the Motorola S10-HD? It's sweat resistant and sounds amazing! Being that it uses earbuds, it would reduce any surrounding noises as well. It goes around your neck and over your ears, so the earbuds stay in place very very well. Also, if you want to pull the earbuds out for any reason, it just rests around your neck, is there when you're ready to listen again, and will not fall off. Most earbuds are dangling from your waist where they're attached to your phone, that's a great advantage with the S10-HD as they are always around your neck no matter what you're doing. I have this and was extremely impressed! I bought it just for music, games, videos, etc ; so I was shocked to find out it works perfect for phone calls, I didn't even know it was capable!!! Callers on the other end don't even know I'm on a bluetooth headset, and are surprised when I tell them that I am. Best Buy has it in sale for $69.99 now, normally $89.99.

The speaker is loud but not loud enough for an industrial environment! My solution was to buy the sony smartwatch and pair it with my note2 and the watch vibrates when the phone rings and for messages etc..

Hi ,
I just used my HTC one X with apple new earpods and really the sound was amazing , the punch that was missing in the original earphones is there .
The control of volume up and down was not there but the center click was working fine and with app "Headset Button Controller" you can have all the options available.
I really don't like IN-Ear's so I had no option but to stick with the original but now with the earpods I think that now I have a better option availaible.
Please share you experience with your original earphones and if there is more better option available in the market coz this one cost over Rs.2000. So if anyone can suggest a cheaper option but not IEM's please.

Dude the ear pods ARE in ears. Anyways I tried it on with my one v too. Sounds amazing really crisp but for no reason the isolation isn't as good as the beats tour.

Yes I agree they are sort of In Ear but they don't stick in ear like other IEM's do . So that's why I am a little biased towards these. Beats sure has an amazing sound but they have that total IEM like designwhich kindda annoying for me and they are too expensive for my budget
Please tell me how much you spend for them ??

So you want over the head phones then
Sent from my ICJ powered by the greatness called NCX power.
No I think he means he doesn't want sound isolation in ear headphones, like I beats, he doesn't mind the one that rest in the ear, and just doesn't want the ones that invade earhole

I hate the ones that just rest on the ears. You get the feeling they'll fall out any minute. I like the one that goes into the ear canal
Can someone tell is it any better than urBeats? or the slim cabled new HTC pods(its nt the in-the-box with my One X, dont flame me if it is the one mentioned in the op)
I have no experience with non-IEM's.
I suggest the Sony MH1C IEM's which are boxed with the Sony Xperia smart phones, For a review you can always Google

If you are interested in more IEM's you can see - http://www.inearmatters.net/2009/01/list_01.html
As for the Ear buds(non IEM's) - you can get loads of options on http://www.head-fi.org/f/

I would again Suggest the Sony MH1c or the TDK EB 950. Both come with MIC's and you can pickup both of them from Ebay. Hongkong seems to be a cheap place from where the Sony MH1c ships and i found ebay.co.uk having discounted TDK's
I "DO HIGHLY" suggest drop by a store and try out stating your budget and the type of stuff you want and let your ear test it out for you.
IMO in-ear is in fact the thing to go now, it won't drop off your ear unnecessary, nice noise isolation and with the correct fit you can always wear it comfortable.
I would suggest EP630i for lower budget pretty nice base for its price.
honestly i still feel IEM is the way to go.

No I just don't want the earphones that block the ear canal .
I loved those IEM but they pain my ear too much so just want some earphones which has best of both of worlds . Apple earpod are excellent options but midrange is an area of concern

Thanks for the suggestion . I agree that IEM has great quality and comfort but the main problem is they hurt my ear a lot . I had tried many . So to save my ears from damage and enjoy the music lifetime I just wanna have earphones which doesn't block my ear canal

Hurt ? i guess you need to look for better ear-tips. Comply manufactures great tips... http://www.complyfoam.com/
Check out the foam tips from Comply, be sure to check for the model which fits your IEM.

Can confirm they're good highs and mids, bass is so so. You don't really need an eq to appreciate them but it helps. I will say though they are NOT long lasting, 3 months and broke. That's everyday listening and taking good care of them.
Currently using Urban ears mini headphones. Extremely nice after playing with the EQ for a few minutes.

Sorry Guys missed one point ..
Does anyone has a permanent solution for this cracking sound in the music player , with beats audio switched on. Still having this is kindda annoying, a noise constantly keeps poking you.
Read this on some thread -
1) Restarted the phone
2) Switched on the Radio
3) removed the headphones
4) then play the music without headphones
5) Attached headphones :good:
Problem solved for a while but still you will get that sooner or later. Youtube has same problem which is more constant.
Switching off beats makes sound lil boring , the thump and the volume goes . If it is fixed in Jelly Bean Sense 4+ please confirm the lucky ones who already updated ..

On mission making HTC One X ... an Authentic SOUND experience.
Was seeing XDA news and found this thread, where the earpiece on the front of Note Edge can be used as secondary speaker for louder sound and a bit of surround effect... Can anyone mod this to make it work on note 2? Hope some thing can be done...
Note Edge Earpiece Speaker MOD
My top speaker has more bass than the bottom one
This is normal?
Bottom speaker has thiner sound too
I noticed the top is louder in general. Noticed when I was holding it in landscape. If you cover the top one and listen, versus the bottom one and listen, the top speaker is definitely louder. So no, it's not just your phone.

I was about to open a Topic about this... i notice this ,, problem '' as well... I was going to ask if the speakers are supposed to be 50-50, but now that you clarify this, for sure the bottom one is not that loud like the top one... I thought my phone has a problem... lol )

My mobile phone does not have this phenomenon, what is your mobile phone version now? Have you had this problem since the purchase? How much louder do you think the top speaker is than the bottom speaker?

I gave also noticed that the top speaker is louder with more bass than the bottom
Like most have said putting the set up in mono sounds alot louder and fuller which I prefer to the stereo set up
If I stick my ear right against the speakers. Then the top one is slightly louder.

Hi everyone,
I tried a stereo speaker test (youtube) and I hear that the speaker on the bottom is always a bit louder than the one on the top, no matter what volume percentage I am on. It is not really noticeable in everyday use, but I am a bit paranoid if this is normal with the phone.
Could you tell me if this is also the case with your phones as well?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, it is normal on phones with stereo speakers.
That's cos the top one is an earpiece, not actually a speaker while the bottom one is a speaker, it has those little balls in the speaker housing too to boost audio. Checkout one of JerryRigEverything's teardowns if you've never seen that before.
Normal from my OnePlus experience.
