I seem to be having an issue connecting to multiple bluetooth devices at the same time. When I had my note 7 I could connect to my gear s2 watch and then when I got in my truck it would connect to my radio. With the pixel xl , it connects to my watch automatically but when I get in my truck I have to go into the bluetooth settings on the phone and manually tell it to connect to the radio. Help, it's bugging the crap out of me and I really want to like this phone but it keeps coming up with reason for me not to.
Haven't had a non-nexus device for years but at least Nexus 5 and Nexus 6P have the same behavior you mention and I can confirm with my Pixel and my Huawei Watch.
As I'm not using the functionality to talk directly over my watch I deactivated the "play smartphone audio over smartwatcg" setting on the watch.
Tried to switch Bluetooth connections with the app Trigger but that haven't worked that well.

Same issue here. Also using the Huawei watch and also had to disable calls over the phone because of the exact same issue.
Hopefully Google will address this limitation in the future.
My experience has been about the same. With my s7 edge and note 7 it would pair with my truck and my gear S2. My nexus 6p and pixel xl will only work with 1 of them at a time. I would think it would have something to do with Samsung products being able to connect differently to their smartwatches. I went to a Verizon store the other day and asked them about their smartwatches and they confirmed that the smartwatches they had in stock would only work if it is the only Bluetooth device connected to the phone. I don't know how much truth is in that but I have seen it happen with my watch and truck Bluetooth. Also, I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra and it is my second Toyota truck in 2 years and I can tell you that their Bluetooth is horrible. Even without anything connected to my phone it still has trouble pairing and that has happened on multiple phones including my wife's iPhone.
I have a similar issue with my OG Moto 360. When my Pixel XL is connected to both, my 2016 F150 and my watch, I can't use the steering wheel controls for the Bluetooth streaming. The album art also won't show up on the screen. I'm mostly waiting for the sync 3 update so Android auto is available.

I'm thinking of converting to tablet car radio. I have come to the conclusion that buyinga nexus 7 would be the ideal way to go; however, I do not know which model would be best. I know the specs of the two tablets and gen 2 is a better candidate, but is it the better tablet in terms of car stereo integration? Things I want out of it is larger external drive either sdd or flash, back up cam, usb audio, extra power via usb, on and off with ignition cycle, bluetooth phone with external mic.
I got my Nexus 7 today in the mail. I bought it for the exact same reason you're looking for it. I read and read some more and came to the conclusion based on price. I got mine used, shipped on eBay for 80 USD.
To be honest the first gen model is just fine for use as a media player for an auto install. GPS seems OK and if I remember correctly Autodroid which you should be researching runs quite well. Something about the kernel allowing otg and charging by default.
I'll be installing mines in the coming days so if I run into issues I'll hit you up.

I haven't even looked at the rooting of the device. I currently own a galaxy pro 8.4 and like it - would have been awesome if I could have integrated it some how, but it won't fully work like the nexus can.
I am set on the rom if it works with both gen 1 and 2 if not I will probably pay timur for the "sponsorship" to use his kernel for the 2013. Now the only thing I am not certain how to do and I have researched quite a bit is the bluetooth calling. How does one accomplish this. I have the tablet talk already and use it with my pro and note, but I am also on a bluetooth headset connected to the tablet. How does one accomplish this via vehicle without a HU. I'm not adding the head unit like I have seen it done - makes this idea pointless for me. I want just the tablet, my amps, speakers.
I pretty get everything except for the bluetooth calling and how this is accomplished. I have the behringer uca222 and I have seen discussions about connecting a noise cancelling mic to the input, but the discussion stops short; nothing on how to get this part of the process work. I connected the mic, now what? Gotta do more research or just purchase the parts and R&D it.
It's a toss up in my opinion. However, with the 2013 WiFi models dropping down close to $100, I'd have to lean towards the 2013 over the 2012.

Can these two work together. I have read some people say that they have gotten these two to work together and have also read that the pixel and Gear 3 won't pair. I have got the phone to recognize the watch but they never pair. Can I get this watch to work with this phone? Can someone lead me to the right direction. I want to let you'll now that it is paired but will not connect.

Absolutely. I use them right now. Just download the gear app from the app store
Thanks for the response but for some reason it is not connecting to the phone.
I just reconnected my Gear S3 to my new phone. Run the Samsung Gear app and follow the instructions. You will have to reset your watch in the process.

I've got the gear s3 as well and it works great with the Pixel XL. Once gear app is installed it should walk you through the whole process including downloading 2 other apps that make the s3 work. Had to soft reset the watch the first time since it was originally paired with a Note 7.
I too am using the gear s3 with the pixel. Everything works well. My favorite is Samsung pay. Can use it even without the phone being connected

Working here with Gear S3 and Pixel XL ...samsung pay is awsome
I'm curious about the S3 battery life? Also, was there a noticeable hit to the Pixel's battery?

I haven't noticed a bit to the Pixel XL battery life. I use my S3 every day, but only for notifications. Don't have the LTE on or the WiFi and I average 84% battery life left each evening when I charge it. I use it from 7am until about 10pm daily.
Google does pixels xl with the Samsung Gear S3? It does all the work? It's compatible?

I know this thread is for S3 but I have the S2 and it is fully compatible, I've even used Samsung pay. Reading everything about the S3, it is fully compatible as well.
Are sure?

I have no issues with my s2, and the other people in this forum have had good luck with S3.
Working perfectly here. Pixel XL running on TMobile with Gear S3 Classic.

Is it possible to get Google Assistant working on the S3?
Mine worked great for awhile. Now that I am on Android Oreo. My phone cant find my watch after a couple of days. If I reset the watch it will work good for a few days and then it will stop finding my watch. I have had to reset my watch 3 times.
That's weird. I've been connected since the release of Oreo without issue.
I do have to reflash my phone though because i installed BusyBox and SPay then detected root.:crying:
I had to do another hard reset on my watch again last night. Everything is working fine so I will have to wait and see how long it last this time.
New 10/10/17 update means the plugin is no longer compatible with the pixel and won't install ☹
Anyone got the old one as an apk
@noone606
This is the one i am using. If there is an issue, maybe install the previous release and it will update to the newest.
I am thinking about buying a new Pixel XL 128GB off of eBay ($550). My current phone is the Moto X Pure which is having lots of bluetooth problems like disconnects from Plantronics headset and my car. I am also stuck on Android 7.0 with no updates in development.
I thought about the Pixel 2 XL, but really want a headset jack, especially when BT craps out or with my Bose noise cancelling headset.
I have read many posts about problems with the Bluetooth connection with the Pixel XL. Can people reply with their good or bad experiences on the stability and reliability of the Bluetooth connection on the Pixel XL?
thanks!

Pixel XL is 1 year in and will be EOL with P bare that in mind before putting a lot of cash down we have some small development going on but nothing compared to other devices and BT is really hit and miss with this device works fine for some and awful for others and if you get a verizon model it's completely locked down no bootloader unlock unless you use a paid service I saw mentioned in the threads. Take a look at other devices before making a decision :good:
I agree with Wakefield pass on the Pixel XL v1. Bluetooth has been hit and miss. Can't really recommend it. Maybe look at the Pixel 2 XL or a newer Samsung?

+3 if you wait a little bit the Pxl2 will drop price due to the new one coming out at the end of the year.
Bluetooth is awful on the Pixel 1 XL, whenever I touch the top glass at the back and the phone is in my pocket, I get stuttering. It's fine when the device is on the side sitting there.
I will be getting 3 XL this year, but keeping a close eye in the first month before I buy it for issues like this.
bluetooth is perfect for me even with google voice commands in my car. i had the oneplus 3t and 5 with google voice commands over bluetooth was crap. pixel is really reliable.
Hello everyone,
I've had my mate se for about 2 weeks now. I like the phone coming with the Windows mobile platform. I'm big on fitness and currently have the flex 2 band. The sync isn't the greatest from my experience. The app is always complaining about not being able to find the tracker. I'm not sure if it's the fitness tracker, or bluetooth on the SE. Has anyone experience this or know of any decent trackers that are fully compatible with this phone? .
I suspect it is the Bluetooth, as I have similar problems with both my Fitbit Charge 2 AND my Pokemon Go Plus. I haven't tried a Bluetooth speaker, yet.
Still debating what to do. Love the phone, trying to decide if lousy Bluetooth is a deal-breaker for me...I *can* move my Charge to my tablet (I think), and--truthfully--I rarely use my GoPlus, and speakers can be wired, soo....
Just frustrating.
You should take a look at the Honor Band 3 available on Honor's website for $60 bucks. I have one and haven't had any issues at all with my Honor 7X! It's actually a pretty nice fitness tracker. It even gets caller ID and app notifications. Here's a link you can check out. https://store.hihonor.com/us/product/10001961788943.html

The issue is the Bluetooth scanning that prevents the tracker from syncing. I've gone as far as disabling the Bluetooth scanning and that seems to work. However- the scan still runs for what reason I do not know. I'll look into the honor band 3. Can you use it with FitnessPal app? I like to have that functionality of having the app keep track of the calories I burn from the tracker. It makes it easier to determine how much calories I need to take in.

I craved in and bought the honor band 3. I eventually was able to get the fitbit to sync, however getting it to sync I always had to go into bluetooth and stop the scanning which became annoying.
I'm using the mobvoi ticwatch e.
Until I went into the battery settings and turned off the power saving crap... Nothing worked right. Now I probably get 10 minutes less screen on time but I get all notifications and Bluetooth device now work properly. Also.. Oreo update helped even more allowing multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections.

Miband 3 works on mine.
No issues here with my Micheal kors and fossil gen 4 almost better than my s8 which would drop them randomly

there are plenty of compatible options for this phone EX- helathwatch,xwatch,t1tactwatch and Ewatch
So I switched to the GT2 because of the Bluetooth 5.1, expecting far better range. I use a Samsung Note 8 which has Bluetooth 5.0. So far I have been disappointed, is it the watch or the phone? My phone is in the kitchen and when I go upstairs to my office I frequently get disconnected, and further it pften fails to reconnect automatically. Also, range sems to have gotten a little worse over the last month.
Suggestions?
Good to know... I sell my GT 1 because it never reconnect automatically... So GT 2 have the same problem?
Its better but not as good as I had hoped, though I don't know if it is the phone or the watch (Samsung Note 8 with BT 5.0)
