LCD replacement - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm one of the unlucky guys that crashed the digitizer...
I order a full replacement screen (lcd+digitizer) and so didn't put so much effort on trying to take out digitizer without break the lcd.
Installed the replacement part, the difference with original one was huge. The repair part was way more purplish/bluish, more dark, with dark contrasts hardly noticeable.
I returned the item and buy another screen, at double price, in a qualified technical service. This latter was supposed to be original (I asked for that an they confirmed). Once installed, the result were more similar to the previous one. Could be a bit better, but still very noticeable difference.
My question is if somebody knows how can I check if this latter screen is original, if I'm missing any procedure on installation (I did shutdown the phone (Vol+ and power) and connected flex, no more) or need some kind of reset to detect a changed screen manufacturer.
I tried also to read panel_id but no luck.
Any hints?

[Q]How much for a new screen?

Mine One X got a little scratch on screen, so I can't return it. I probably have a Sharp panel, since my screen has a pronounced yellowish tone, that I can't get out of my mind.
I know it's probably a stupid idea, since my screen - besides the warm tone - has nothing wrong with it, but if I went to a HTC repair center and asked for a screen replacement (an Acer screen), how much do you think it would cost me?
Given you would need to replace screen + glass (it's stuck together) you're probably looking at $200+. Not worth it IMO just to get rid of the yellowing.
M.
Doubt they'll even have much in terms of spares at the moment. Somebody else tried to get their One X fixed and they were told that pretty much everything is devoted to manufacturing still.

Some questions regarding Note 2(Cracked screen)

Hello there, I've done some tinkering me and my dad and decided to change the display of my note 2 by ourselves, we where trying to change only the glass(the one that you touch, is white or grey, etc) and we couldn't separate the glass from the first layer of glass the one that has a ribbon cable hooked up to it, well we tried again and we cracked the second layer of glass and then we got two scratches on the third layer of glass (I'm not a professional guy that's why i'm describing it like this). Well either way the screen won't turn on now, the led is turning on, it vibrates it just won't turn on, talking about the screen. Now here come the questions, Will I be able to fix the screen to turn on? and I saw a demo unit of the phone for sell on the internet would it be worth it to buy it and switch the internals(motherboard, usb module, antennas) to that phone just for the screen?
I'd rather go the demo unit way - if it's possible - because that would cost me 100 euros instead of 170 euros.
Thank you very much for looking at this.
I think you cracked the display ...sorry. Why you coouldn't separate the digitizer from display? You just need a few pieces of plastic, playing cards or similar things and a heat gun. Probably you did not had enough patience to heat it.

To move the entire screen to another phone, it takes a bit of skill, search YouTube and decide if you can do it.
I think you will find answers here:

Good Luck
I was saying that I'm going to take that thing on which you screw the motherboard and antennas. From my understandingnthe whole LCD assembly. Would that work? At this current stage I'm trying to power on my phone to save data which is possible and the next step i don't really know what to do.....

Display Issue

Hello, I just brought an used OP3 A3003. And apparently, my device have an issue with displaying gradient color. Specially dark color and on low brightness.
I've tried to change the ROM, but it doesn't have anny effect.
If I want to fix this, do I need to replace booth the LCD and the digitizer?
And there are two kind of replacement part that I found on the net as shown on the attachment. Which one should I buy?
Just to be sure, disassemble it first and clean the connector. If that doesn't do, I recommend buying the whole front assembly rather than just the display+digitiser. It'll be much easier to fix as you don't have any glue to trouble you
Thanks for the advice. My screen broke (cracked) when I try to open up the device to clean the connector (before I post this thread), guess I'll bring it to the local phone service

Failed to replace LCD Screen.. Help

Hello!
I bought a lcd screen (mine is with broken glass but working) for about 120usd from aliexpress and tried to replace by myself. I followed a tutorial step by step, removed Sim slot, opened the back, remove the screen and plugged the new one. I turned my phone on, everything was working (touch, image, fingerprint), but when I put the Sim slot back again, the screen turned to this (see attachment), and even after removing the Sim slot, the screen stays the same way. The old one is still working OK.
I don't know nothing about Eletronics, maybe could be these missing contacts (sponge metal) on the lcd from aliexpress? (the right one). Does it have solution?
THANKS!
:/
our phone has a super amoled screen...that surely is a downgrade, in screen quality and battery life wise. ;S
Either you got scammed, or some contacts aren't connected right. Try again
Are you saying that this screen isnt amoled? It's lcd? Thanks!
The exact same thing happened to me, including the color noise. I bought the screen from AliExpress. After asking someone with a bit more expertise than me, a was told that the displays actually are AMOLED, but they are inherently flawed cheap knockoffs using refurbished components and terrible driver chips, which only support 2 brightness values. My screen stopped working completely shortly after installation and didn't fit properly in the phone. A opted for a return and refund, got the $120 refunded and the postage fees only cost me about $15. I suggest you do the same. I got another second-hand P2 for $150 dollars with a screen intact and switched the screen from it.
Phantoml337 Thank you for the answer! Do you know if there is anything i can do to repair this screen or it wont work anymore? Thanks!

as long as you get an original display replacement or a good alternative, you can repair it as you normally would. Ask some experts, they know their stuff. Otherwise, buy a second hand p2, they often work just fine, flash some newer firmware on it, to make it clean and use it as normal, i guess.
But this fake screen, can I repair it?

Where to get huawei mate SE screen replaced?

Hi all,
My screen is cracked on my huawei mate se and I have no luck finding a local shop that replaces the screens on these models. Is there any reputable store in the states that would replace the screens?
You will most likely have to do it yourself. It's nothing hard to do, beware and check for reviews about the LCD and maybe choose another besides the one from the link.
Here is a how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkhtI7QhjbE
Here is where to buy it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BF7TV94/ref=twister_B07BF95WHR?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
Hope it helps!
If you look on amazon you can find a ~45 dollar screen/lcd replacement that comes already in the frame. The option above doesn't look like it comes with the frame. Doesn't mean it's no good, just more work. You'd have to clean the glue off your frame to glue your new screen in place. I can't imagine it's terribly difficult to do but for an extra 15 bucks you can find basically a plug n play option. I just ordered one and replaced mine. Easy peasy. Took 3 days to get here. Pro tip- Install screen and boot phone before complete assembly to test functionality of screen and all other functions e.g. camera, fingerprint sensor, vol/power etc. The fingerprint option completely disappeared from my settings menu. Turns out I forgot to push down the tiny clip where the ribbon connection is. But since the phone wasn't fully assembled it was easily fixed. G/L.
This displays are very bad quality, where can I find a original one?
