Hello! I currently have a Verizon (bootloader locked) Pixel XL 128GB and am on the fence of trading this in for an unlocked Pixel 2 (not XL) 64GB. I believe I can fully utilize the $100 store credit and that home mini could be used as gifts for friends/family. In short, my upgrade costs is $115.
So I'm just wondering, is the upgrade worth it? How are people enjoying their phones now? I've read numerous reviews and reasons to switch but this still puts my on the fence. I think the main reason being the resolution downgrade. I love watching movies/tv shows on my XL and it might be the deal breaker.
Let me know what you think and thanks for reading!
Are you going from an XL to a regular pixel 2? You might not like going down in screen size.

Yeah, I was thinking the same but is the processor speedup worth it? I also might consider the Pixel 2 XL.
Go the 2 xl,you won't be disappointed

This is good advice. I have a 2xl and it is awesome. Controls my tv, stereo, lights, home temp, navigates my car, does my christmas shopping, plays music on phone or home or mini or car or denon 5.1 klipsch/polk audio rock & roll system or any of my bluetooth speakers, keeps me up on the news, puts me to sleep, wakes me up, takes very awesome pictures & saves them all, no matter how many I take. I've always been reluctant to buy a new phone because every new release was missing something. The new pixel is a nice investment, not missing anything at least for me.
And insane battery life, I've never had a phone that sleeps for 9 hours and stays over 97%
My 2xl stays at 100% and can easily last me 2 days moderate to heavy use

I went from a Pixel XL to the 2XL then a Note 8 and now the Pixel 2. I chose the 2 over the XL and 2XL because the screen is super nice. As for the Note the camera is just not that good in comparison. The smaller size hasn't bothered me much at all, the screen is crisp, vibrant and readable. Performance wise the Pixel 2 and 2XL win hands down. I would do the trade.
Go for all of the above! ??
Thanks guys I really appreciate the advice! Most likely I'll trade in!
Dear sirs....!
I'm here to ask if you would recommend me this device, and if you can, I would like to have some questions answered
First: does it feel old in your hand? How is it? Good?
Is it fast enough for everything? Any issue?
I'm coming from an htc 10, I want to switch to an oled display, how is it? Is ambient display good/worth?
Do Google camera mods give better camera performance than stock? Like pixel 2 software ports or s#!t
Would you give it a go or get a u11 / mi mix 2 / pixel 2
I'm interested mainly in camera, display and no lag experience
Thank you very much for your attention sirs
yes
if you have the cash, I'd pick the Pixel 2 Xl over the Pixel XL.
Nope, feature support for devices ends this year as it only has 24 months feature updates. Go for the Pixel 2 or 2 XL.
Based on what you are looking for...
Camera is excellent, though the pixel 2 apparently is even better.
Screen is excellent, big bezels but better than the LG panel on the pixel 2xl. Reportedly. I don't own the p2xl.
Speed is fine.

I thought Pixel 2 has an LG display, but the 2XL has a Samsung display.
Do I have that backwards?
ETA, Pixel 2 made by HTC. Pixel 2 XL made by LG.
Apologies
Yup.

I tell you, I am not impressed with the display.
I'm not much of a photog, so Canberra does not really matter to me.
I recently bought a used Pixel XL, to root and rom, because my daily driver (Moto Z2 Play) does not have much development.
My recent phones, in reverse order were Nexus 6P and Moto X Pure Edition.
All of those poses better displays than this XL. It is not very bright or vibrant. There is no setting to change.
I sure hope the 2 XL has a better screen, because I think that's my next.
I just picked up an XL and I would say it depends on what you get it for and how long do you want to keep it? My moto phone (big mistake, I'll never again buy a Moto) died on me after less then a year and I just need something to keep me going until the Pixel 3 comes out (I unusually wait a few months after release to see how the reviews pan out). So for me it doesn't have to be perfect. I like the screen.
I will mention that this is fairly subjective. I had the Moto 2 Play for a bit and ended up returning it. The display was fuzzier and not as sharp (what you would expect from a 5.5" 1080p display), side by side the Pixel XL (IMHO) has the much better screen.
I come from OnePlus 5 to Pixel XL and no regrets. I received mine yesterday. So far so good!
I have a 6p 32gb for now, thought about upgrading and I don't want to wait for the Pixel 3, so I have 2 options and I want your opinions.
In terms of storage, I don't really need 128gb, 64 is just enough, though the Pixel offer is only for 128
Pixel has better camera, faster updates, water resistant, and dual speakers. Oneplus is cheaper, has a bigger screen with notch ?, newer processor, and better battery life, also 3.5mm jack. So it depends on what you want out of your phone.
Pixel 2 XL. It's going to be updated for 3 years.
For me, the continued updates are very important.
If OP6 supported Verizon, I would move back to them in a second. The devs and support are as good as anybody, and they support bootloader unlocking. They've had some issues with customer support at times, like the cc fraud problem, otherwise, they are posed to continue good success. Camera isn't that big of a deal to me personally if the Pixel is slightly better. The case, near edge less top bottoms and sides make it more comfortable and better looking as well. Loved my 5t.
Would recommend pixel 2 XL.
I was in same dilemma too few weeks back. After looking at colleagues op6 and pixel 2 xl, went with pixel 2 xl. A very hard choice for me as choosing a single sim pixel 2 xl vs dual sim op6 (always favored dual sim before).
For me, I liked the pixel 2 xl display, sound and camera much better than op6. I also got info from colleagues that battery life us better in pixel 2 xl than op6.
I am happy with pixel 2 xl now.

I'm using both and think the Pixel 2 XL is a better daily user. Everyone's opinion is different - depends on hand feel, usability, screen, speed, etc.
The Pixel does it ALL....
Thank you guys

Partly agree with your thought process.
Another thought process is high cost mobile may always outperform low cost mobiles overall. So pixel 2 xl will come out better overall anyway than OP 6 right.
Check out the review of OP 6 whose UI fluidity is worse than pixel 2 xl surprisingly even for me (expected better UI fluidity in OP 6 due to less resolution screen and better processor than pixel 2 XL). Other areas of speed tests do resulted in good in op6 though.

You liked the display no offence the pixel has a inferior display.
Camera smashes the op6 out of the park

<sarcasm>Oh my, chime in on the horrid blue shift and terrible colors of the Pixel 2 XL.</sarcasm>
Better yet, don't. Both issues are totally overrated. If you really think the FHD display of the OP6 with notch is superior to the QHD screen of the P2XL without notch then whatever drugs you are on must be really good.

Hmmm, not sure about inferior or superior spec. But I like the display of pixel 2 xl more than op6 one (not sure it is due to resolution may be, people say 1080p is sufficient but my eyes are demanding more) My s9+ display on other hand feels good than pixel 2 xl though.
I think that Pixel's display is superior to OP6's, Google did a lot lately to improve the colors and reduce the blue tint. I had S8+ and when comparing those two, the amount of blue tint was the same on both. It was visible on Pixel a couple of degrees earlier, but that was pretty much it.
Maybe I am just lucky with my Panda 128GB...
Get the pixel 2 xl coz when the 3 comes out you can trade in the 2 for up to 500$ you'd only be losing a 100$ or so. That's what did i picked a 128 panda used pixel 2 xl in mint conditions off swappa for 570$.
I own both. I'm selling the op6. I told myself I'd never try another option device but bought one anyway. Every opportunity device I've owned has had some odd hardware issue and none of them were the same. Also the UI had some odd behaviour even though it looks stock.

I am not sure why everobody (I mean all the reviewers) calls OnePlus software stock..I feel it's far from stock...their settings page design is still struck at Android 7 days...

Hi, is it worth to upgrade from a pixel 2xl to a pixel 3a xl ?
not sure if that would be an upgrade.
I see no reason to change to 3a from 2 except headphone jack.
I did it only because I'm a sucker for new devices and it only cost me $80 through T-Mobile. Been using the 3a Xl since I bought it. P2XL is now my backup device. There's no major differences performance wise; they seem very similar.
but pixel 3a have an illimitate space for photos?

Negative, just high quality not original quality like the pixel xl or pixel 2xl

How's better life compare? I'd think the 3A XL would destroy the 2 XL, but who knows

Compared to a new P2XL, who knows...but the P3a XL slays my old P2XL in battery life.; but I bought the P2XL on launch-day so it's a bit abused.
In terms of performance, both phones should be neck and neck. While I haven't owned a previous device, I'm getting 6-8 hours SOT with the 3a XL, which is definitely great for a phone at this price point! It's like a super charged Snapdragon 821, which is, honestly, still a very capable chipset, considering that any other phone at this price point is gonna have MUCH lower specs. Battery won't disappoint!
Is there any issues with your 2 XL?
Personally I think I would be hard pressed to buy the 3a XL if I had a working 2 XL in hand. The performance isn't going to differ greatly between the two phones. The screen might be better on the 3a XL, but that's about it. Of course you will have a longer life expectancy with the 3a XL with three years of updates coming. But I think I would save my money and wait for the 4 XL or 4a XL.
This coming from someone that just bought the 3a XL which was a true upgrade from the Honor 8 I was using. Of course I was also able to turn in an old Apple phone (an AT&T 6s) that my daughter had and got $264 in credit for it , so the total cost was much lower than list price too.

That's a little hard to argue, there's some great options out there, especially with port in deals to several pre paid carriers.

I mean, there are options out there. But there's plenty of people who don't want to be tied down to carrier unlock systems. Prepaid unlocking can be a nightmare depending on whichever company you go with. Sure, it's a question of convenience. So if you're someone who doesn't care about this, sure. Go prepaid. But if you're like me, someone who can't stand the fine print issues you may come across, I still think the 3a XL's price point is solid

I am enjoying it. I switched to metro for a g7 power only a month ago lol and here I am now on this Pixel
I know, odd question, but it's important for me.
There is a Note 9 in the family, a OP7 Pro to try, and so on. They all suck at GPS tracking/lock-on compared to my old Note 4 and former Mate 10 Pro.
Notebookcheck praised the Pixel 3a XL's accuracy, so I wonder... is it really that good?
I mean, the OP7 Pro can't even get a lock in buildings, and Maps/Waze will remove your route/tracking altogether cause it has 0 confidence, and happens in a city as well.
Note 9 is the same, although the route stays, it just keeps throwing the car like streets away from the actual position.
Ps.: Moral of the story? Dual-band GPS is nothing more than just a buzzword.

For what it's worth, I've had the 3a XL since launch and only once while using Google maps has it lost GPS signal, and it was in a tunnel, so there was no clear sky.

Thank you! I know it sounds silly to even ask this, since some had luck with their phone purchases and GPS just worked... but on the other hand, I was extremely unlucky. And trust me, there is nothing worse than having no GPS.
I'll place an order and sell my phone / one of the phones.
Have a nice day!
