Guys I have been having overheating issues after Marshmallow update, Snapdragon 615 is meant for its heating issues, if you guys use lollipop or think it doesn't happen, please check the temp on normal conditions ( a bit Wi-Fi browsing...), this have elevated to a different level with the new update. HTC said they have not received any complaints like this so those who are experiencing such issues please post, or mail to HTC escalation team.([email protected]).
Over heating can sometimes make your device's hardware bad, so please post.
I know you guys have been having the issue, if possible share your device normal CPU temperature and temperatures under load, if you want this to be heard.

What are the main issues of the lg g3 (planning to buy one)..
Does it have the screen issue like the g2? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd5BTKpViUk
is there a fix for the overheating and shutdown issues?
how is performance in gaming?
is it possible to reduce the resolution to 1080p to save battery and gain performance (and maybe prevent overheating)?

Read through The G3 threads you will know the answer to all of these.
You cant reduce resolution.
Gaming is decent
I have had no such overheating since 10H update and no shutdown issues ever.

OK the. Do other users also have temperature and shutdown issue fixed with the lg update?
Never had shutdown or overheating no matter what firmware. It's abit laggy tho but way better with art etc.
I guess you guys are not heavy users? cuz I read a lot of users have overheating issues with message prompting them to decrease brightness as it is overtheating and may shutdown (what the heck? ... LG really lost it on that one... Do you really expect to get that kind of message on a flagship pricey phone??). LG seems to be making great phones but each time there's a deal breaker. (screen issues with LG G2 and now overheating/performance issues on the LG G3)... I hope they get it right with the G4.
Did antutu x benchmarks, 3 times in a row with 90% brightness without auto with an ambient temp of 30c. I actually can't remember if my score was lower last time (because of throttling), gonna check it when I receive my phone again.
No message about high temp etc tho.
ok you are probably not a heavy user.

I am a very heavy user. No issues. People need to understand a simple factory reset and installing the latest update helps. When i first got it i performed a factory reset and installed thr latest update manually so i never really had time to see if it had issues on previous firmware . although i did run a benchmark when i got it it got really hot. But i did the same after the update it just got a little warm nothing to worry about.
ok. I want to know if other users have these issues solved with the updates like you.

Zero issues, apart from the screen sharpening and abysmal battery life when the screen is on
abysmal battery life?
No one is experiencing this lg g2 issue on the G3 right?:

nice video showing that how lg g3 compares to the cat 6 version and the galaxy s5 prime
Sometimes the phone become hot specially when the phone is charging and I'm texting and browsing 'usually in a dark room so the brightness is 0%'
And yes my phone brightness decreased to 90% automatically and sometimes 80% due to overheating
Lg g2 was faster than g3 and you can see it when you use it for a long time
Overall. Go for it its awesome device
Hello guys,
I'm thinking of buying the LG g3 which for me is the best phone right now. However, I have seen it has some bugs regarding overheating, WiFi drop, bad battery life etc.. Do you think it is still worth it or should I go for a Z2 which has the same price in my country (Spain). Regarding the overheating issue, a lot of people say they have it and a lot of people say they don't... Is This just chance or is it linked to a specific model and version?
Thanks

Watch that and make your own mind up - this is the opinion of Pocketnow - 3 months after launch.

As the overheating, since I upgraded to v10L firmware, overheating issues it completely gone for me, even after 40 minutes of playing Real Racing 3 on max detail mod or Dead Trigger 2 for about half an hour. It still heats just like every other device ( HTC, Samsung or Sony) but it doesn't get to extreme temperatures which turn off your phone automatically. What are those other bugs you are refering to?

I saw some people had problems with random rebooting of the phone

I have my LG G3 for 2 months now and I never experienced any random reboot, except for 2 times when it said the reason was extreme temperature, but that got away after updating firmware and never happened again. But it was only when I had first firmware. I also use ART as runtime which is considered to be buggier and more "app crashy" than Dalvik, but I never got any crash or random reboot.. Usage of unoptimized apps can random reboot any phone. As for LG software, LG's apps and the most common and most widely used apps work perfectly without any hiccup. You should never experience any error, crash or random reboot. At least I didn't. Always try to use trusted and well optimized apps if you want the best experience. Also don't install any battery or RAM cleaning apps, that **** just slows down your phone and drain your battery rapidly. It depends on you if your phone will random reboot or not. It's not just LG thing, it also concerns HTC, Sony, Samsung or any other manufacturer. You can ask my sister, she installed few cleaners, RAM boosters, 1 optimizer and 2 battery boosters on new Nexus 7 which should be most stable Android experience, but her battery life got worse and she does often get random reboot. So treat your phone well and it won't random reboot anytime
Hello
Lots of G4 devices gets boot loop in time.
warranty fixes it free for now. but even new 1.1 v hardware versions gets bootloop (according to reddit pages)
I think there is no safe device. So how can i avoid this problem ?
According to people this problem caused by overheating, that makes solder weak. then some cpu core connections gets loose and causes boot loop.
My desperate solution is lowerclocking the device. I'm using cpu tuner for disabling 4 cores.
I tested this with benchmarks and games. It seems not overheating.
But cpu performance only 1/3 and there is tiny lags in every app.
If you have better solution, let us now. You are the only hope !
i really like this device and i dont want to buy some mid level f 2.0 camera devices.
excuse my english

I think flashing a custom kernel and underclock A57 cores (the bigs). This could prevent overheating, losing very little performance.
in the next few days I receive my phone, i will do that and test what happen. I think that could be a good solution to avoid a bootloop issue.

are you under warranty.? if yes keep using it like always if you try to prevent from happening and dont bother running it then disable the cores..
Hey,
I still own and use an LG G4 as my second device, but the overheating is becoming a problem since it throttles like hell when the device overheats. Any advice / possible fix?
Thanks
What temperature is the phone getting to? you can install a cpu temperature app to check.
I feel like the 888 chip might be pretty hot in this device. Samsung S21 Ultra got lower benchmark scores so they must have wisely reduced the turbo frequency of the 888 in that device to prevent overheating problems.
Recording of 1080p60 video for me stopped after 25 minutes due to heat, and while playing Genshin Impact the phone's screen got painfully hot. During setup the phone shut down wifi twice while transferring with OP Switch due to heat.
Seriously thinking of returning the phone at this point. Anyone else having these problems? Should I return? I don't trust that OnePlus is going to fix this with a software update, and my return window ends in 2 days...
For reference: My Pixel 3 XL idles at 25C and this OP9P idles at around 30C
From what I can tell, overheating happens when extended loads are placed on the X1, and as a result, it clocks max/close to max freqs for much longer than it was designed to sustain.
Instead, most of the load should be being ran on the 3 middle A78 cores, as they are plenty capable enough to run most intensive tasks anyways.
Updates, but more specifically: improvements to the cpu scheduler/logic I believe should remedy these issues

I wonder if one could potentially try to test a fix out using kernel modifications. I have EX Kernel Manager and have been tempted to mess around
There's an update coming out to fix the overheating :
[Update: v11.2.3.3] OnePlus says it's working on a fix for the OnePlus 9 Pro's overheating issues
Several OnePlus 9 Pro users have reported facing unusual overheating issues with the device. OnePlus is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

When you're running v11.2.3.3, it already should be fixed. Luckely, I never had any overheating issue's, not even with the previous versions.
When I'm in my car during with the AC off andmessing around with the phone I'll get the temperature too high .message every time. Otherwise it definitely gets hot while playing games but doesn't bother me, as long as it still functions.
Update can't be soon enough...

The update is released... At least in India and Europe.
I've noticed some overheating after installing 11.2.3.3 so YMMV.
From the article it says there will be a *second* OTA following 11.2.3.3 addressing battery/device temperature.
i have Chinese version of OP9 Pro running with ColorOS and honestly it's really Good and don't have any issues
