Not sure if this has been addressed or if it is my phone, but it seems only one "slot" speaker is working, the one (as facing the phone) on the bottom left. The right speaker is either not working or is not a speaker? What are your phones doing? Not doing?
One is a speaker and the other is a mic

Makes sense, thanks for the response. Spoiled with the nexus 6p I guess. At least it sounds ok.

Hi
I have problems with my HTC One X during phone calls.
On the other side of the call they say it sounds like I'm in "speaker mode" but am not.
On my side of the call the sound is strange. Sometimes I can not hear good. Dark and low. And sometimes its pitchy. Sorry for my bad English.
I Think my problems started when I dropped the pone.
Is the ear speaker and the mic bad or just the ear speaker?
Do you know where to find a guide on how to replace the ear speaker and/or the mic part as well?
Thanks.
I have the same problem. (see my thread) .
Did you find an answer yet?

Solved!

Hey guys, first post here and I'm wondering if there is any reason or fix to get headphones that go in at a right angle to fit into my Note 2. By right angle I mean the kind of headphones who's jacks turn to the side at the end (can't post image)
My straight headphones as found in something like standard apple headphones works fine so I wonder why this doesn't.
If anyone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated.

1. Is the headphone working with other devices?
2. Check if the length of the silver part of the jacks are of the same length/width.

They are working on any other device I have tried.
They are the same length and width
It seems like any headphone with a "right angle ending" does not work, I have tried 3 different headphones and a cassette but none are being detected
There will be a push button in right angeled handsfree. These handsfrees are mostly made for small phones/mostly nokia phones. When you will press the button it will give you output but when you release it, it will be soundless again.

Is anyone else having a issue with people being able to hear you while you have the phone to your ear? When i have my phone to my ear and i talk no one can hear me but they can hear me when its on speakerphone. Also they can hear me when i have headsets or Bluetooth plugged in. Not sure if its broken or what its causing it to act this way.
I have a problem with my microphone as well. It sounds really quiet and has a lot of background noise. PM me a sample of it recorded with the sound recorder app and I'll send you a sample.
I'm going to RMA mine and hopefully get one without the problem (and the one dead ****ing pixel I have, ugh)

there is a real problema not a joke...
After a RMA, I received a replacement Pixel 2 XL and noticed the speakers sound different. The bottom (right) speaker has more bass whilst the top (left) speaker lacks it. This is noticeable all the time for me. When I cover the speakers with my thumbs to identify the issue more, the top speaker sounds very different for vocals, drums and guitars. I'm not sure if this is normal for this phone as my RMA was for another issue with the top speaker so I am wondering if this is normal. I have read people saying the top speaker is quieter and a few with this issue but I'm wondering if it's an issue that can be resolved through another RMA or if it's normal.
It would help if people with Pixel 2 XL's test their phone speakers to see if they experience what I do. A good left right speaker test is https://youtu.be/hTvJoYnpeRQ and when you rotate your phone, the left and right speakers should flip and the audio saying left should have more bass as the phone flips the channels. It would also be nice if you would check with music to see more clearly.
All in all, should the speakers sound different or should they sound the same?
Thanks.
Wow never noticed that before yes the bottom speaker has more bass but both sound good. Probably an equalizer thing top is set for best speaking quality.

I think they're supposed to be that way. Mine does the same thing, unless be both have bad ones lol.
My one does the same thing - I was aware of it but your link made it pretty noticeable though. I don't use the speakers often so not a big deal for me.
Thanks for the help guys. Funny how no review channels talk about this.
I may be wrong, but I believe the bottom speaker is slightly larger. I recall seeing that on a teardown video/article.
My USB adapter
Long ago my pixel speakers worked just fine until one day I decided to play some music, and plugged and unplugged my usb adaptader and after that my speakers got damaged, I've tried hard reset and the problem still remains till this day.
I dont think there was an issue initially when I got the phone 2 months ago. Now when you take videos there is a horrible screech on the the video. And people claim they can barely hear me during calls. I have seen the others complain in youtube but no fixes. btw I have another phone that does the terrible screeching during video recording but its a cheap ass umidigi. Yes I have done a factory reset. how about a usbc mic that mounts flush to the bottom of the phone, anyone know of anything like that?
For USB C I have no idea if there is, I would think so. What you could try is using a TRRS tie-type microphone through the 3.5mm jack. That's the only one I can think of. Did you ever wet your cell phone? Still it would seem strange to me.

not that i know of(wet) but i read that many people say its just a ****ty phone. wtf did i not see these reviews! definately done with lg's now. my g5 was kinda good but the GPS sucked, known hardware issue.
It's known that the microphones for recording video are bad (for music, anyway, voices seem okay, except perhaps a bit sibilant). I've never had complaints about how I sound during phone calls.

I have had the All Generations G except the Optimus G and G7 (I currently own G8s ThinQ) and I never had that problem you mention. It will be something of bad luck in your case because I have not been notified of annoying noise in calls.

yeah i actually loved the g5 but couldnt play pokemon go, lol well sometimes it was an advantage with a glitchy gps i could be quiet far from a pokestop and hit it....however if i was right no top of it not so much. there are lots of comments on this site about the g5 and "fixes" for the gps which rarely worked.
fixed it. First I remove the charge port board it contains the mic. I tried recording with the board removed, noise still present, damn its the mic on the main board. After trying to figure out how to disable the mic, couldn't. I opened it again and held my solder gun on the mic long enough to melt the solder and remove the mic. problem solved. I guess these "advanced" mics were fighting each other for control, lol.
