I have had my P8000 B American version for about 5 months now with no visible issues hardware wise. How has everyone else's P8000 held up?
My P8000 has been running CM12.1 for the past 5 months with zero issues. I am just hoping the hardware holds up as I have heard differing stories on Elephone's QOS isn't great, sometimes sending faulty phones that do not last.
Looking towards the M3 or P9000 American version in a year or two.
Sent from my p8000 using Tapatalk
I have been using it for over 6months maybe more, with CM 12.1 biggest problem I have faced is the headphone jack it broke a few times haven't fixed it yet.
I used it for almost a whole year. Now I'm using another phone, but the P8000 is still running fine, I just found a great offer for an Asus Zenfone 2 and went for it. The only issue I faced is that the screen glass began to peel on the edges. It didn't go any further, I guess that's because I was using a tempered glass protector from day 1. Other people have reported the same issue over the past few months.
I use it more than an year, and I have the same problem with the screen glass. I also use tempered glass. Wonder if I remove the temperd glass what will happen?
I have bought 2 elephones p8000 precisely 1 year ago. Both have hardware issues. one phone the headphone jack broke and I could fixt it. but now the glass on both phones is separating from the digitizer and LCD on both phones. You can see this clearly around the edges of the screen. I won't buy an elephone again
Wow, so many people have problems with the screen. I guess I'm lucky
Anyways, what version is your phone? Mine is the one with the flashing home button. I have never had any problem with it. I am using tempered glass from day 1 too!
P.S It's not the American Version. And it has the camera that works with all the ROMs
My lcd glass is is fine so far. I also have tempered glass on mine. I have the P8000 US version. Recently though, my finger print is acting up (I'd say 60/40 accurate), do I'm not sure if it is the ribbon cable that connects from the finger print to the maun board that is not tightly slotted, or if the finger print is just wearing out. Other then that, everything else is working OK. The headphone jack is finicky too sometimes.
I also have a tpu case which I think has helped protect the digitizer.

I have a TPU case too. It's on the phone for the most of the time, but dammmmn ..the quality of the case sucks. I bought 2 from aliexpress.. they r just too thick -.-"
I had my P8000 for nearly a year and a few month ago, it started having a crash & reboot bug (the phone will freeze then restart shortly after at any time). This happen under any rom I tested, even the stock one..... Any solution??
Well Over a year. Everyrhing is fine exept phone Jack. But I hit it very hard while in use. So its broken. Other than that. Very happy!
I have it for 14-15 month already, and I like it. (battery life, screen, features) Needed to make a small soldering on jack *(factory issue I believe), but it took me less than 5 min so I even like phone structure and ease of dis/reassemble.

There are two lousy soldered points on jack which are quite easy to fix. Watch video on how to disassemble and give this image to a person who knows how to solder (image from this thread)
Almost a year
I used my Elephone for almost a year without any problems.
Then problems started. 1) earphone jacket 2) overheating while playing game -> spanish overheating message -> crash 3) glass cracked when falling
Phone is still running but after a lot of reflashing. Waiting on a replacement glass now.
I used my Elephone for 1,5 years without any problems.
Have mine since august 2015 and still use it every day. Only problem is the screen. But it only shows when the screen is off. When the screen is on, the stuff on the edges does show correct.
Have it rooted from day 1. Use the firmware from 20150725. Removed as much bloatware as possible, but still need No Root Firewall to block connections to Chinese sites from some of the default Android apps.
Also have some trouble with the camera. For example alternative camera apps crash the phone as well as the Google Drive document scann functionality.

I passed my p8000 to my daughter. It still works fine after a year, but the bottom of the screen has cracked. I could replace the screen, but it seems to be a pain in the ass to replace (literally have to disassemble the entire p8000 to replace it). I ended up getting a Leeco Max X2 x829 for $220. Works great on ATT. 3GB ram, 2.15Ghz quad core, 1080p screen, and 64GB storage. There is no sdcard slot or headphone jack, but easy solution is keeping a 32GB USB stick with a USB type C flat connector on it, attached to my car key ring for backups (Roms, gapps, twrp backup etc...). And keeping the Type C headphone jack on the end of my headphones.
2 years and no problems, great phone
Surprised how reliable the phone works since many years. Battery still perfect!

Last night´s party was pretty good, but my beloved kaiser ended in the floor after flying 10ft. Now I am having some issues with the hardware buttons, especially with:
°Camera- just not working, and nedded to bootloader aka tricolor screen
°Phone answer- not really needed, I can answer via touchscreen
°Settings- some times work, some other no.
°D-Pad down - just down not working, center top left and right works well.
°OK- some times work, some other no.
°Keyboard P,O,L, Del not working.
So, I am in deep ****, especially because I want to get a new nbh loadeed, but I cant get in to the bootloader using camera+reboot.
Any Ideas? Thanx!
get a new one? that seems pretty rough. right now on ebay you can find one for around $50 if your patient
You might have loosened the cable, or the cable might be damaged. I've dropped my Wizard once, and this happened. Turns out the cable got loose.
The Kaiser has a cable inside, that moves when you open and close the keyboard. This cable can also easily wear out, or accidentally pulled.
I pulled this image from Kaiser Service manual PDF. You can easily see the connector and cable for the front. As you can see, it's pretty easy to loosen the connector from an accidental drop. BTW, Kaiser Service Manual will tell you step by step in how to take apart the Kaiser. You will need a Torx screw driver T5 and T6, not to forget one extremely small Philips screw driver.

Just reconnect the cable. I recommend getting contact cleaner to lube and clean it first. You can pick up one of these at your local radio shack. Wonderful stuff. Good idea to spray every connector you come across.
Also, if you damaged any of the plastic (like I did) you can repair it easily with a soldering pen, and extra broken plastic lying around. I dropped my Kaiser once, and chipped off a piece of plastic. Nothing wrong with the phone, but cosmetically it annoyed me. Easily took it apart and repaired it with my soldering iron, and some extra pieces of black broke plastic. Just remember the front bezel (where the screen is) isn't plastic, but metal. The center and back is made out of plastic, that btw melts easily to a soldering iron.
Here's an example of some guy repairing a bike doing this. Do it right, and it's strong. Do it wrong, and it'll break easily under stress.
Thanks for the advice. I'll try it tonight.

Yesterday I disassembled my Kaiser, and cheched all the cables, but it didn't work. Still the same issues.
So I want to know if there is a way via software thru android to get in to the tricolor screen.
I am using kallt kaffe's nbh and eclair.
Thanks!

no not with android sorry.
if you know how to solder, try resoldering the leads for the camera button.
If the cable wasn't the reason, then you may have to take apart the front screen itself. The front screen is a mess of connections, so you may wanna check them.
I went the whole way dismembering the Kaiser. Cleaned all the connections, and checked all were in place.
Still no luck.
I believe something went really wrong in the motherboard in the last drop.
It´s a shame 'cause this is a very nice piece of hardware and have been with me for the last 3 years.
Maybe its time to use the AmEx and get a Nexus One.
Thank you guys for all the help.
Just a note on this, if the keypad or dpad were the only things with issues, I'd have suspected the main flex also, however as the camera button is firmly fixed to the mainboard, then the damage must have been more serious.
Afraid it might take a lot of serious disassembly and probably a few hours with a microscope to find any fractured connections, which is the usual type of damage after heavy impact. Also the connector for the main flex and the camera button are both on the same side of the mainboard.
I feel your pain, it's one thing to honourably retire a device for an upgrade, but losing one in action is a different thing altogether
Thank you guys for your help. As we speak I am unboxing mi new x10.
If anyone thinks my old kaiser could be used as a spare parts, i can send it for free, just you pay the shipping fee.
THANKS A LOT. I am moving to the X10 xda forum

Hey, I'm experiencing the same issue. I can boot to android, but nothing I do will get to the bootloader. Zenity tried to help also (thanks!)
I've got a HD2 for me with WM and 2.2, this is for the boyfriend (his first android).
It fell when I tried to put Galaxy Tab Plus into my field jacket. I noticed sound cut off suddenly and my Note 2 fell from 1.2 meters.
Even a TPU case and glass screen protector applied, a scuff formed on the left top (it's not visible when case applied). Fortunately, the screen didn't have any damage.
What if I have the phone unprotected?!

I havent dropped this phone since I got it on Dec 31st...
Not really luck but the size, weight, and my Otterbox Defender case seems to be an undroppable setup! Honestly even when the phone has slipped its just impossible to drop. Last second fingertips on the corner edge of the phone, side hand pinning to body, etc, all have ended in no drops throughout the most unsuspecting moments... or maybe I am just lucky or "? reaction-arily? gifted"

I've managed to drop my phone with the Defender while putting it back in the holster, unbeknownst to me it tangled with my winter coat (granted, probably not much of a concern in Arizona) and some time later fell out on an elevator's tile floor. Loud thud, but nary a scratch.
It was the first time, and I've had mine since November.

Hi darkshado, I have an unlocked t889v from mobilicity, and phone could work under wind and virgin mobile.
However, signal is unstable indoors, asu frequently drops to 1 or 2, or even no service at all. I would like to activate lte to take full advantage of the virgin mobile's network. Could you please to forward me a draft guide on how to do it? I know the risk but still want a try....thanks~!
btw, the baseband is T889VVLALJ4, ROM is Jedi 9...
I dropped mine in the toilet (after cleaning the toilet) last week. Without hesitation I reached in and tossed it in the laundry hamper. I yanked the otterbox defender off and started drying it off. Pulled the back off and the battery out. Pulled the s pen out and shoved a qtip in the hole. Remarkably the phone was on and functioning befire I pulled the battery. After I gave everything a good wipe down I blew water from behind the home key, power button and volume rocker. There was also trace amounts in the s pen. Phone still works flawlessly. It didnt even hiccup. Makes one wonder how water resistant this phone is. It was in water for 3 seconds or less and nothing happened.
Noted Twice then replied using SGH-T889.
After careful inspection, a tiny damage found on the top-left of the screen. However, it can be covered with a case and the touchscreen isn't affected at all.

As odd as it sounds thank the screen protector. I had screen protector on my htc incredible and had it fall from the holster running and watched it endo beside me for a few steps with not screen damage. Only to remove it after switching carriers and getting a new phone to drop it from about 16 inched and crack the screen.
Im thinking about cutting the stock otterbox defender screen protector off and using one that adheres to the screen. This one doesnt sit flush so I get noise from it contacting the screen as I type and also dust and dirt enter from around the home key.
Note 2, yeah son!
I'm on my second note 2. Dropped the first one from about 1.5 feet without a case and goodbye screen. So moral of the story.... could have been much worse.

Just got this phone 3 days ago, cat jumped up on the desk I had my phone on, directly onto the phone, and then jumped down, causing the phone to drop onto the carpet. The screen is cracked/shattered. Does anyone yet know how to replace the screen/where I can buy a replacement?
I am in the USA, so nobody around here will service it until at least May 18th when it is released in here...
Please help...I'm devastated....

I'm going to receive this phone very soon, what you report isn't really good news,
isn't this phone supposed to be gorilla glass 3? and as a matter of fact resist a simple drop on carpet? very surprising....

The shattered is around the very edge. I'm not quite sure if the shatter is due to the cat jumping on it and possibly a claw going into the screen, or if it was a result of the fall. Not sure. But yeah, supposedly GG3, but I'm not quite sure...

bad news, for me it starts to make a lot of inconvenients for this phone:
fragile screen (?)
very big size (almost phablet)
poor camera quality (software issue?)
I'm also quite surprised there isn't more interest from dev given its X86 CPU, because this was one of the main reason I got it first (non-ARM device and possibilities for other OS's (FirefoxOS, UbuntuTouch)),
now I realise the only thing that could make me keeping it is dual sim...

Most likely it is the fall. Regardless of having GG3 they still easily shatter by falling. Watch videos of dropping Samsung S1 to S6.. S6 did shattered even having GG4 equipped. I feel sorry on what happened on your new phone.. Im hoping you can get this serviced right away for replacement.
Wow, that's unlucky!
I dropped mine for the first time this weekend, onto a tiled patio floor from about waist height and it didn't break. I do have a cheap silicon cover on it though so that has probably paid for itself ten times over already.
Did you get the screen fixed? I dropped mine a couple of days back and the screen just shattered into pieces.:crying: I can still operate the touch screen, so I hope the digitizer and the LCD are still fine. I'm trying to figure out a way to get it fixed. I guess sending it to Asus Service center is the only option right now. I was wondering how much they will charge me for that. I'm in the US btw.
I have dropped mine 4 times , no damage so far. I have Asus' bumper case on it though .

The big size isn't a problem.Ergonomics is well,it stays well in hands.I wear quite skinny jeans and i can put it in pockets easily.Instead the fragile screen and the camera quality are very big problems :/
Even gorilla glass can crack from small height falls if the angle is right (or should i say wrong)..
Zenfone 2 does not have a magnesium alloy mid housing / mid frame like nexus 5 , lg g3 etc. The only "metal" thing inside is the LCD pannel cover, everything else is just cheap plastic. And we all know that plastic bends and glass shatters.
Gorilla glass 3 is strengthened and scratch-resistant, but it is by no means shatter-proof. If you drop a phone and you are unlucky with the angle of impact as it hits the ground then it will probably crack the glass. Bigger screens increase the likelihood of shattering. Gorilla glass 4 is supposed to give more shatter protection, but drop tests seem to suggest it still is not that effective.
Hi, I know this is kind of an old thread, but I don't want to make a new thread to ask a simple question about your phone. After you cracked it, was the touchscreen still responding or did it have problems like the OnePlus One and the LG G3 where the screen stopped responding? I'm considering getting this phone but I would rather know first.

Hi smartgid, i have shattered my screen too, have spare one standing, but for now my phone works great. No problems with responsiveness.
Pics below:
My daughter shattered her screen (zenfone 5 though, not 2) and it still responds as normal.
I just cracked my second Nexus 7 2013. Both occasions the tablet was not dropped in any way and minor pressure put a few hairline cracks in the display, rendering it useless because the digitizer is integrated into the glass. Why do they crack SO easily? Has anyone else experienced this? Its very frustrating. I am considering fixing it myself, but have heard of the new display cracking on install. I don't think I'll buy another one after this durability issue and touchscreen issues on both I've owned. Too much trouble than what they're worth. Any other 7 inch tablets in the sub $300 range that offer similar if not better performance? No, the Nexus 9 is too big for my taste lol. Thanks

Funny. I'm wondering if the glass is generally weak on these tablets or if I've just had bad luck. Its literally a few hairline cracks across the display, nothing major. I pulled it out of the tablet bag I have for it and it was cracked.
It's not inherent to the tablet. I'm using my daughter's hand-me-down tablet (funny how that works...) and she abused the hell out of it. It did have a Moko case to protect it, but she pounded on it pretty hard when she got mad at apps - enough that I fussed at her and threatened to take it away.
I have it now and there isn't a scratch or crack anywhere on it. In fact, it's been a pretty awesome tablet for the money.

They are not generally that fragile, but may crack for a number of known and unknown reasons. For instance, one recounted that he dropped it for 3 inches onto a bed and got it; whereas I myself have slipped it from the trunk of a car to the asphalt with the glass landing on the hard surface and nothing happened. But what you can do is buy another assembly, and a tempered glass cover for another 10 bucks. I've had one on for some time now, and dropped it a few. Didn't do nothing.

Go Ebay. They're mostly from China and Hong Kong, would take a little time but quality-wise, good enough. I had a dodgy screen I didn't care about, so I bought a tempered-glass, installed it and proceeded to test. Cracked corner of the digitizer but the glass remained intact.
Hi guys!
My A2 Lite is accumulating some internal scratches on the touch panel / digitizer, since a few months ago (phone is only one year old), for some reason that I cannot comprehend. I never saw such problem on a Xiaomi phone or any other brand, is someone here familiar to this?
The scratches are only inside the touch panel, the screen is 100% functional. The phone doesn't have any external scratches or dents (always been used with covers)
The phone was bought on Amazon.es (third-party seller, but fulfilled by Amazon), do you guys think I can activate the warranty for this?

I would try to get in touch with Amazon if there is any chance to get it replaced or fixed. It's unacceptable for a year old phone to develop such an issue. It looks like screen defect rather than digitizer as you can clearly see backlit is bleeding through. If you read online there is many many complaints about this model. Good luck

perhaps the photos aren't clearly showing it, but the screen is OK, the problem is only in the digitizer film.

can you upload photos as well? perhaps this is a factory problem with A2 Lite model.
I have the same issue, I bought the device in the official Xiaomi store in Spain in August 2018. I put tempered glass from day one and I always took good care of it. The microscopic scratches started appearing below the main glass after the first year of use. They have a regular pattern of tiny parallel lines that grow inwards of the screen as time goes by, so it looks like a manufacturing problem to me. I have seen other people complaining of the same on official Xiaomi Spain forums but I didn't do anything about it because I needed my phone at the time and it didn't disturb the experience that much back then. Funny thing is that I can see individual red, green, and blue artifacts on the edges when the background is white.
This is how it looked 6 months ago:
This is how the phone looks now:
One thing I know for sure: I'm not buying any Xiaomeme products ever again (no matter what type) because buying cheap ends up costing more as our buggy updates have shown us :crying:
Same on my device, 16months old and its slighty visible on the right side and on the left top corner.
If i take a look at the pictures above, its time to look for a new device.
so this is clearly a factory problem, do you guys activated the warranty? I would send this exact link to the supplier/shop to show this is a common problem between A2 Lite phone users.
Please keep posting the photos from your devices.

I've finally found it after an extensive search.
Bordes de la pantalla estropeados. https://c.mi.com/thread-3093264-1-0.html?t=1605961007295
I was a very active user on the official Spanish forum before the disgusting Xiaomeme angered me so much with the buggy android 10 updates so I don't know of newer threads about this problem. Try in other official forums with different languages.
thanks for the add!
I think this XDA thread can start being a repository for this issue. The more the users and photos, the better! :good:

I have the same issue, I bought the device in the official Xiaomi store in Spain in August 2018. I put tempered glass from day one and I always took good care of it. The microscopic scratches started appearing below the main glass after the first year of use. They have a regular pattern of tiny parallel lines that grow inwards of the screen as time goes by, so it looks like a manufacturing problem to me. I have seen other people complaining of the same on official Xiaomi Spain forums but I didn't do anything about it because I needed my phone at the time and it didn't disturb the experience that much back then. 2 years, as for the rest of Europe AFAIK
I am using mine with 9H Screen Protector since day 1. Didnt happen just yet.
Possible reasons for these internal scratches.
Reason 1:
- Phone's edges leaks sweat
- Screen's edges reacting those sweats.
- It gets worse overtime.
Reason 2:
- Screen's edges reacts to the humidity.
- It gets worse overtime.
Reason 3:
- Screen's edges reacts to the sunlight.
- It gets worse overtime.
Reason 4:
- They build it with this planned obsoloscence trick.
- It gets worse overtime.
Definitely something wrong with the edges of screen. If anyone can send it to chemistry lab they will reveal the truth. I guess its just chinese trick.
Here's my device, which already has changed from daily driver to backup device.
Oh wow I had this too recently! Just got the screen replaced last week. I thought I accidentally crush my phone when I was asleep, maybe this has to do with Xiaomi after all.

Can you tell Screen and Touchscreen brands? So we can assume the next target.
I have no idea
