LG G4 - H815P - Logo Loop - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have just entered this loop. And I have contacted LG but they mentioned that my mobile presents some scratches that voids the warranty. Im almost 99.98% positive that this scratches dont cause the issue.
So I'm looking for an alternative...if there is...
Ive done the factory reset and the issue still persists.
I've let the battery run out 100 and then recharge and redo the factory reset and nothing.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Get in touch with LG again. This makes 0 sense that scratches would be in any way related to the issue caused by the faulty motherboards. I had mine dented and sent for repair to LG and no questions were asked as this is not even related to the problem. If the person on the other side of the line refuses to accept RMA insist on talking to the manager. This is well known issue and LG stated that they will be fixing/replacing faulty motherboards.

Is there a statement about this?
I'm currently based in mexico city and for some reason I have to go through my mobile carrier and the mobile carrier technicians do the 'evaluation'.
Thanks,
Rodrigo

The are couple of articles on the web:
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...-loop-problem-and-it-s-offering-a-fix-1313769
http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/
It is not as widespread issue like exploding Note 7 but most of the stores and carriers are aware of it and most of them either replacing or sending to LG for repair without many questions.

root and hardware

Hi, so i got a G4 H815 and i can unlock my bootloader, but my only concern is that after unlocking it my warranty will be void.
So my question is does anyone have a hardware problem? Like screen problems or anything?
I unlocked my bootloader, but I didn't notice my digitizer is broken. It's really dysfunctional. Using multi-touch results in my phone thinking that I'm touching the screen at random locations. Scrolling is a pain in the arse as well.
I don't know whether I can send my phone to LG to just get it fixed. I should be, since the law in the Netherlands states that if it's a hardware fault, you still have warranty.
Returned my first G4 because of a faulty screen.
I had Bootloader unlocked it via LG Dev site and had no problem getting a new one.

thanks a lot!
I have personally not had a single issue that would make me need to take the phone back and swap it out.
I understand that you are nervous about that, but just be careful as far as drops and around liquids and you will be good to go buddy.

G4 bootloop: LG officially admits hardware fault, will repair affected devices

Hello, good news!
LG finally admits the problem. Then it will be easier for us to have our devices repaired/replaced! :highfive:
Some of you already shared links on several topics related to bootloop, I think it's better to create a new topic about it, as I wrote an article too for french customers
English: http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/ (official statement)
French: http://www.gamergen.com/actualites/...engage-remplacer-unites-defectueuses-269974-1
For european customers/people who bough it from UE reseller, no worries:
bel57 said:
P.S. furthermore, European Union stipulate under directive 1999/44/CE that it allows users to modify the software, root included. This modification *DOES NOT* void minimum warranty of 2 years on hardware supported by the manufacturer.
Voided warranty by "illegal" software modification has been classed as an unfair term and it's fought by U.E.

Just called them and it's on its way back, should arrive within the next few hours! They told me it got repaired and all is fine. Owner check went through IMEI so no problem with forgetting to add the invoice, too. And no problem with unlocked bootloader and root either! I'm a happy girl now. I will come back here when it arrived and tell if they just repaired it or if I got a new device.

EDIT2: Ok guys, I *finally* got my G4 back.
LG PROJECT P1 (H815 - LG G4)
IMEI changed
S/N 505x => 602x
Repair: SWAP motherboard, software update (20D)
But would we all be subjected to the warranty? Otherwise it's not different from before.
At this point it seems like they just realized what the problem is after wrongly sending back a few units as 'repaired' even though it's still having issues.
"Customers who purchased their G4 devices from non-carrier retailers should contact an LG Service Center with the understanding that warranty conditions will differ. "
If you purchased your G4 from a third party website/eBay, it's more difficult to get your warranty recognized.. best is buying it via carrier, LG official store and recognized sellers.
Are they also going to apply the fix during the production of newer LG G4s? because if not, it sounds like all lg g4 will experience the bootloop sooner or later and will only repair it after it has happened
Yes, no detailed information about it, but it seems that they already changed the production process weeks ago and they're just late to communicate on the identification of this breakdown.

"For in warranty repair service, you must include a copy of the proof of purchase inside the product packaging returned to the LG Product Repair Center."
Well, I can't see any problem here. You need the original invoice, that's uuuh.. normal?
I just bought the g4 and sadly discovered that my S/N started with 505. Thanks god i did not unlock the bootloader. But I really want to unlock it to install custom rom. I'm thinking of sending my device to LG even if i didn't have the bootloop yet so i'll be sure not to get it after unlocking the bootloader and then having LG not repairing my phone. What do you think ?
Just use it and stop worrying, your device may not be broken as ours.. and no, you can't leave it to repair if it doesn't have the bootloop thing.
So where are all those people now who always wanted to prove not many people are being affected or it's a common thing to have problems when they first come in the market???? I wanna see their faces... I had to hear lots of things when I started writing about it. People made me believe maybe I am the only one annoying the surreal sound of the community. It makes me so happy to see this day which I was crying out loud to happen for so long.

I feel you, bro. I went through all pages of your topic. It's a worldwide issue and it's a shame LG is so late to admit this problem. Well, finally you're right, our posts, our thoughts.. all paid off. Thanks mate.
Often when people are not concerned they tend to underestimate facts.. and this proves too much units are faulty.

Wish you all good luck in this initiative. As for me, I'll go to carrier shop tomorrow to get a spare unit. :good:
Good to see this thread. My phone just died this night and since then is constantly hanging at boot screen. No access to recovery and download mode, no recognition by the computer (only a few seconds, then it restarts and gets disconnected) so no kdz flash via flash tool either. Just sent out a repair request to LG. Now fingers crossed it falls under warranty as I unlocked the bootloader. I purchased it in June and this is clearly of one of the first produced series which has the hardware defect, s/n starts with 505.
Don't worry, LG must repair this harware issue, no matter if BL is unlocked or not.
If you want to wipe or recover your data, try the freezer method. It works.

A lot of these 'people' don't really care or look into things until it happens to them.
Then all of a sudden there up in arms being your friend about the issue. It really only took a two second google search to see how widespread this is. On reddit there's a constant stream of bootloop posts if that's not enough proof.
Now? It's just crickets from the ones who were so keen on shooting this off as a small 'problem'. foh

I have a backup on the sd card from just a few days ago. I was aware something is wrong as it started to have charging issues, so I made one to better be safe than sorry.
Good idea :good:
Unfortunately mine freeze too fast, I just had time to retrieve my data then wipe all via recovery.. now it's sent for repair.. :crying:
But I can't do anything before this issue occurs? My s/n also starts with 505...My only chance is to keep fingers crossed?:fingers-crossed:
Yo don't complain as your phone is working great, just enjoy it and keep in mind to backup your data to microSD/computer. There's a small percentage that it will brake one day.
I remember mine overheated few times, and it may have broke a hardware component.
If there's nothing to report on your device, then you don't have to worry.

[ask] is there a way to intentionally damage lg g4 Software?

hi everyone,
with the number of occurrences of the lg g4 bootloop, i become paranoid that one day my g4 will experience it.
is there a way to deliberately damage my g4 software so i can claim before the warranty run out?
Flash wrong KDZ?

Nope.
Guys like you are the reason why manufacturers are doing the bootloader locking or using qfuse.
my g4 with sn 505 is known very risky to bootloop , I just do not want my phone to be exposed to bootloop before warranty period end.
I have 506 and I'm in the same boat like you but damaging it on purpose to claim warranty is wrong.
If it happens after warranty time the only thing you could do is ask LG to repair it because it's a known problem.
If it happens to me I will try to fix it myself bybacking the motherboard in the oven (no joke!!!).
It doesn't matter if it works or not LG will be on my list of manufacturers I will never again buy from.
So far on this list is Samsung, Sony, and probably LG.
The bootloop issue is due to hardware, not software. I believe any issues caused by software is not under warranty.
And what would damaging the software help anyway? They will just reflash the correct firmware and done. Maybe they will exchange it, but I highly doubt it.
My g4 came with 2 year warranty and I had it for 6 months, no trouble whatsoever, in fact I love it. If the boot loop issue occurs within the next 18 months then warranty deals with that. If not then I will be upgrading to a newer phone anyway, so really no need to worry it's a win win situation me thinks

Semi-Dead Phone

Yesterday, my groupmates and I were presenting this VR application to our panelists. Somehow in the middle of the demo, my phone rebooted and it took a while before it actually opened. After it opened though, a few seconds or about a minute later it will reboot again and this happened a few times so I decided to turn it off. Later, when I decided to turn it on again it won't let me past the LG logo and it just keeps on bootlooping so I decided to turn it off by removing the battery and let it stay off for a while. Again when I decided to check on it, the phone won't even turn on even after holding the power button for a few seconds and trying to remove battery and place it back. I decided to check on it later again and it would boot but only until the LG logo again and this time it stays there for a few seconds and then it goes black and this just keeps on happening every time I try opening it. I even tried to do a hard reset (reset to factory settings) but only the same thing happens, the phone freezes at the "Yes" option when doing the factory reset and it goes to black after a few seconds. I even tried flashing a firmware but it won't let me do it because the same thing happens (reboots into LG logo, freezes and then turns black).
What could have happened? Is there anyway to fix this? :/
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: My phone (H815) is running MM, not rooted,

Unfortunately you are also in bootloop effected G4 club now. If it is in warranty, claim it as its board will be replaced, it is hardware failure. What is Serial Number of your G4?

Your S/N is on the phone behind the battery. They will also need your IMEI number.
So you, just like hundreds here, and I am pretty sure it's thousands globally have got bootloop issue so there is no need to create new thread as that is not going to fix your issue as you are in the same boat just like all of us with probably your serial number starting with 505xxx.

Oh well, unlucky... I don't remember seeing any 511 developing bootloop which might be concern for others since I believe that from November 2015 they fixed the bootloop issue with hardware revision 1.1. I'm sure you'll find all the answers going through threads on LG G4 bootloop issue. Seems like the pins on the qualcomm chip get somehow loose or unstuck from the motherboard overtime (usually the 2 big cores) that why the phone is unable to boot when that happens. That's why disabling the big cores helps to boot the phone using only 4 small cores.

Problem is I bought the phone from an online retailer and all they have is labor warranty. I've also tried e-mailing LG here in the Philippines but I haven't received a reply yet and it's been almost a week.
Can removing the 2 big cores (hardware, is it even possible?) by a guy who can repair it, fix the phone?

That is not correct. 12 month warranty is provided by LG for the device so he can go ahead and get in touch with LG. As long as he's got proof of purchase that's all they ask.

not yet brother. I'm really disappointed with this issue Is this happened to you after update to Android O? What did you try?
I don't know the fix for this. I just kept my phone is my drawer for a few months and when I took it out, it was fixed.
Although I did note 1 thing - The display had started to show white noise as soon as it became hot. I had to keep it on a cold plate to make it normal again. The only thing I can recommend is putting it in fridge or something and then turning it on. Listen to me at your own risk. I ain't no mobile fixer, but just a random guy.

That's literally the biggest no-no with electronics.
When you can't repair something on your own, you would usually seek out a person who can and, eventually, pay for the repair. You do not ask for possible solutions which you would probably not be able to perform on your own.

This certain advice is being given everywhere. (Even I'm a bit skeptical on this). On that repair thing- I literally asked every single repair guy in my local city and not a single one could fix it. This nexus had just become my tinkering toy so I had nothing to lose. If anyone still has the value for it, please take it to your repair guy.
I think this is the same issue that I have. I talked to Larry from India at Google. He had the same issue with his phone and LG was fixing the issue for his phone. He said it was a connector from the board to the screen.
So he hooked me up with LG. I talked to Holly and she sent me an label and repair under warr. They extended their normal warranty. LG previously fixed the bootloader issue by replacing the motherboard, so this issue may have been caused when they fixed the phone. May want to try contacting LG, see if it helps.
Hi, i have the same issue on my Nexus 5x. did you find any solution?
This is the second time happened to my Nexus 5X. but it fixed with no reason after about 3-4 days i put into drawer.
then this happen again since last night.
Did you try to clear the delvik cache or something via recovery mode?
sorry for bad english
