AOSP Signal indicators? How to enable - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Okay so before I bought my HTC 10 I played with one in a store. It was a sprint variant and the carrier signal and wifi icon looked like AOSP. I was wondering if there was a way to enable those icons for other variants of the 10. I'm on Verizon but I'm running LeeDroid ROM which I think is an international base. Anyways i have a screenshot of what my icons look like. I have xposed and root at my disposal if anyone knows how to properly enable those icons.
Thanks!

Circle Battery Mod for GSM Version

I love the look of this plus its much more informative.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/28660-mod-411-jelly-bean-circle-battery-mod/
But It looks like they only have it for LTE versions.
Does anyone know if there is a version for stock Jelly Bean? I'm just unlocked and rooted.
If you want to have some fun experimenting, just try the guide on how to modify the SystemUI.apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714481 using the graphics from the LTE mod, and then just replacing the file in the LTE mod itself.
For some reason I didn't see this thread the first two times I did a search.

Third times the charm I guess.

[Q] ROM that allows Phone Network Selection?

I am currently using JellyBam, as it allows one to select a mobile network operator ( Settings>Wireless & Networks>More> Mobile Network Settings ) but it mobile hot spot and bluetooth tethering don't work.
Does anyone know of any other ROMS that allow one to select the phone network operator? On stock, and the other ROMs I've look at, it is greyed out...
thanks,
jf
You won't find it on any of the AT&T based ROMs.
When you say "AT&T based" are you referring to touchjiz or ANY rom on the AT&T S3. Just to clarify for anyone who may be reading this.
Any ROM that runs on the AT&T GS3, is OK with me!
And I have found one so far, so its obviously not 'won't find any.'
thanks.

JellyBam is not based on the AT&T stock ROM. It is based on AOKP and CyanogenMod.
I have not tested enough ROMs to be a 100% sure, but I think AT&T disables this option in its stock ROM. If so, you probably won't find any AT&T-based ROM with this capability.
But you might want to look at Canadian-based ROMs (those that as Rogers-based, Telus-based or Bell-based). The mobile network operator setting isn't grayed out on my Rogers stock ROM (but I have a Canadian phone, this may or may not have something to do with that). Examples of ROMs you may want to try that are Touchwiz-based but not based on stock AT&T:
- Dandroid
- i747z
- I747MVLDLK4_DJJOHNNYBLAZE_MODV1
- Bertiespeed

Cyanogenmod and 4G icon

Hi,
I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1.2. It works great and I really like it. The only thing I don't like is that it will only display 3G and H+. Is there anyway to get back the 4G icon? I know T-Mobile doesn't offer true 4G except for their LTE network. I know it's cosmetic but it would be nice to have the 4G icon back. Thanks.
David
When I was using my Nexus 4 with the LTE radio enabled, CM10.1 displayed the 4G icon while I was connected to LTE, and the H+ icon while connected to HSPA+. The T999 doesn't have LTE, that's why you don't have the icon in CM10.1.
I don't know exactly how to go about changing to the 4G logo, but I'm sure someone else here can help you.

I'm not aware of a way to do it.
You could try one of the many TW ROMs. I recently switched from CM10.1 to S3Rx and have been happy with it.
Interesting cause I'm the exact opposite. On S3Rx it says 4G and I wish it would say h+, or 3g, or whatever.
I'm running a CM based rom on my T999L and I get the 4g icon in places with the new 4g. Elsewhere you get the H+.

Thanks for the reply. I do not believe S3Rx is available for CM10.2 which is Android 4.2. I really like the new features of 4.2 so I guess it's worth the sacrifice of not having the 4G icon.

Yup. S3Rx is 4.1.2.
I agree, I liked CM quite a bit also but I found myself needing wifi calling, so I had to switch.

I haven't tried it specifically with 10.1 yet, but apps like rom toolbox let you change the icons in the statusbar. There is several options for 4G icons. It worked perfectly on previous versions so it should work.
tp2215,
Thanks for the reply. I looked into the Rom Toolbox app. It only changes the 4G icon if the 4G icon is displayed initially. I was looking into changing the 3G icon to display 4G (I know it's not true 4G but T-Mobile's version of 4G). Thanks.

If you flashed the Stock T-Mobile ROM, and have a T-Mo SIM, you should have the setting - there isn't an "app".
Go to Settings > Connections > More networks > Wi-Fi Calling Settings.
You should be able to turn it on or off and then set your preferences.
Remember it has to be a Stock ROM, none of the non-Stock ROMs support Wi-Fi calling.

Actually there is a WiFi Calling apk.
And all of my roms have WiFi Calling. And they are "Non-Stock".

Sorry for my spreading of misinformation. I thought I had read that it was only Stock. Is it that the ROM must be TouchWiz based? Is that the issue - so no AOSP, CM nor GPE?
As to the APK, I thought he was asking about an APP he had to run.
Again, sorry, and thanks for the correction.
Rob
Yes wifi calling is touch wiz based.

Technically, its been made available for other platforms - My wife's HTC Sensation has it. But yeah, on the Samsung S4 only the TW based ROMs have it.

There is no apk yet.....All US T-Mobile TW roms have WiFi Calling. Only international doesnt
I remember on my old HD2 there was a thread where Wi-Fi calling was added to CM7 and I think also on CM9. Maybe a developer can get some ideas to get it to work on aosp?

I think what it is is that T-Mobile had the feature baked into whatever custom interface the phone manufacturer was using. With the HTC phone, it was probably baked into Sense. In the case of Samsung phones, they were baked into TouchWiz. Recently, the ability was added to iOS 8, adding recent iPhones to the capable list.
I may be wrong, but I think it was a way to discourage tinkering because they were trying to encourage people to take up expensive flagship phones. If WiFi Calling could be plastered to just any old GSM phone, the more expensive phones lose their appeal.

New Rom?

Hey guys I have the Tmobile variant of the m8. I want to try the roms posted in this section but i am wondering if it is possible to add the wifi calling to those roms as i have a dead zone at my house.

Its possible, but I think its more complicated than installing the APK.
A few custom ROMs have a T-Mob option that includes WiFi calling (which is why I say it must be possible), so you might opt for one of those.

For further info on @redpoint73's response, as long as you are running ROMs based on the same firmware as T-Mo's latest version, the wifi calling should be implemented.
If you are trying to run ROMs based on newer firmware, or are using a ported version of the new Sense, wifi calling will not work. T-Mo doesn't have anything compatible with it.
