Link2SD not work in 5.1.1 does not mount the partition, if it works on android 4.4.3, root permissions on both systems were used ext 2, ext 3, ext 4, fat 32, and combination with swap partitions, most were made Internet tutorials

You need to odex your apps and forget name "dalvik-cache", after the odex, you need to link the odexes manually. Dalvik-cache is an impaled mummy. On 4.4+ for link2sd return work again, fast and furious, we need odex the apps, with apktool .

[Q] Installing mods to stock rom - problem

Hello
After using some of custom rom's, i returned to stock rom because of battery life. And now i have problem with flashing mods in recovery (like extended power menu). I have about 40MB free space on phone, my apps are linked2sd, my rom is deodexed with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600805 .
When I'm flashing something in recovery, after system startup i see a message about low internal memory level. Some app's are missing (like google play). Link2sd is going crazy, sometimes he said that he doesn't have root access, other time he tells me that he need debugging USB on, I'm turning it on but he tells mi it again and i can see that debugging is off. When I finaly launch link2sd and I'm moving first app to link2sd, he shows me a progress bar and I'm waiting for weeks and nothing is happening.

use ext3 man.even stock kernel support it.i am using same int2ext+ with ext3 on my deodexed stock rom.
and dont worry about that 100 MB..wildfire s have around 512 MB total internal space include whole system.so you can partition your sdcard upto 2 GB. bt keep it 500 MB or 1 GB.it will works fine.
that script put ur system apps on sd-ext and dont wry nothing will slow down..same as link2sd.bt it works very good.
but do clean install like flashed that script after installing rom.i am not sure about it ll work on installed rom or not so.

So, if I would want to change sd-ext to ext3 i would have to format it, and i will lose all my apps, so maybe i'll try to install mods on a clean rom

man link2sd needs also ext3/ext4paritions to work.
fat32 is only for audio video and other data.for sd-ext scripts,link2sd needs partition like ext3/ext4
link2sd wont work with fat32.
and dont worry about ext4.it only work with some device and some roms major cm9/cm10.
use ext3.it works all the time and everywhere

for link2sd or any other scripts you need to partition your sd card:
1) FAT32 REMAINING
2) EXT3/EXT4 ( 1 GB)
3) LINUX SWAP (512 MB)

yeah.sd-ext meaning ext2/ext3/ext4 partition.
so how link2sd works without this partitions?
when you installed link2sd and open app.it will show you to mount partition like ext2/ext3/ext4.so which is your partition you should click on that, then restart your phone and then link2sd ll work.
same with other scripts..no scripts works with fat32.

2GB
2 GB isnt sufficient.
But you can partition it to,
1 GB Fat32
500 MB ext3
500 MB linux swap
All partitions are primary.
Then try link2sd.

[Q] Link2SD Error [Invalid Install Location]

Its time to use Link2SD on the Arc (Xperia Ultimate HD Rom, Locked BL), so I've partitioned my sd (Main 27.76GB fat32 and 2GB ext2).
Link2SD recognizes the partition but when I try to move facebook (and other apps like OfficeSuite,TrackID)
I always get this failure message:
pkg: /vendor/app/facebook.apk
Failure
[INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_INSTALL_LOCATION]
Root Explorer was moved successfully but 728KB are still in phone memory (just a move to sd not link2sd)
I reformatted-repartitioned (+ext4) with the same result. Am I missing something?
Odp: [Q] Link2SD Error [Invalid Install Location]
I had similar problems. The reason is /vendor partition in Arc. I think this partition cannot be mounted r/w. The best solution is to flash LT18i stock ftf. Arc S has bigger /data and /system partitions and stuff from /vendor is mostly moved there.
Other idea is to try manually move files from /vendor/app to /data/app using file explorer. Then reboot and then try to use Link2SD. But I remember I had problems with few apps and also it can cause some errors and missing apps.
Sent from my Jelly LT15i using xda app-developers app
You mean its a kernel problem? If I install this on the Arc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838830 link2sd will work?
Yes, before downloading a kernel if you want to use link2sd check the OP for supported ext.

It is supported, but Link2SD has problems with apps on vendor partition. apps from /data moves to sd-ext without problems, right?

I tried a regular app (Root Explorer) and was it moved but with native apps2sd method. I get this message every time so practically link2sd isn't working at all on my device
you can not use an 2 gb ext2 partition. it must be 1024 mb or smaller. for using ext4 partitions, you have to flash a kernel that supports ext4, i think stock kernel doesn't support that.
vendor apps can be moved, i have done that hundred of times

Finally did it
I deleted those vendor apps with Titanium and re-installed them (became non-vendor), so link2sd could do its job and move them to my 2GB ext2
You don't need Titanium for that. Just open Link2Sd and convert the system app to user app by clicking on the app, then click on the three dots on the top-right corner, then select Converto to user app. After that you have to restart and then you can move to sd, or link if you want to.

[q] swap, link2sd e vold.fstab

Friends, I have a doubt.
In the past inverted internal memory of my device with vold.fstab, then I started using oLink2SD.
Nowadays, use Link2SD with swap partition of 256 MB. But I see that the ROM's current support for both services. What is more suitable for use in the present day? My swap partition Link2SD is already activated or do I need to do some procedure to activate it?
Sorry, because I am noob to these matters.
Thank you
Link2SD is enough
I use it, and I can install any apps.
I have 8GB SDCARD and I make 2 partition, 6GB with FAT and 2GB with EXT4 [ for Link2SD ]

Format second partition for Link2SD in ext2 or ext3 or ext4 to move app data

Good Morning
I've googled a lot to find a way to format the second partition in any format other than FAT32 which allows for app linking but not data linking , I tried to format the second partition in all ext formats (2-4) but no use the Link2SD cannot the second partition .
what am I missing ?
I have a second partition already with a huge space ( have 32 GB C10 SD Card) with apps linked to it so please don't tell me to swap internal and SD Card.

I think Xperia M kernel does not support ext partitions.
So you have to download kernel source and enable ext partition while building the kernel.
If you don't have enough knowledge on how to do so, search here for already made custom stock kernel (I don't know if there is one)

Maybe you are using hacked link2SDplus aren't you?
You can't link apps using patched link2sd, alternatively you can use original link2SD then patch it manually with lucky patcher afterwards.
It works for me in latest cyannogen ROM and ext4 as my second partition filesystem.
I can confirm what @allrested just wrote, ext4 second partition on 64GB card works fine with Link2SD. Been using it that way for over a year on a stock ROM with rooted Kernel on Locked Bootloader. (Both Android 4.1.2 and 4.3)
Pay for the Plus version of Link2SD and you can write data to partition too. Have 1.7GB free on my internal flash.

I'd like just to confirm that you have Xperia M Dual so that I wouldn't purchase the software then find that my kernel doesn't support ext4 partitions , specially that I tried with the free version and it didn't even mount the partition all together
I have an Xperia C1905.
I'd be surprised if it makes a difference, but fair question.
Update
I also have an Xperia C2005 (now) and again, I can confirm Link2SD with a ext4 partition works fine.
Using the paid Link2SD version you can clean most application data off the Internal NAND memory.
My C2005 only has a class10 32GB card at the moment (10.5MB write speed).
Will probably upgrade to a 64GB SanDisk Extreme Plus.
Also using Foldermount on the C2005 and C1905 without problems.
Be advised, games will still look to load data on the physical internal NAND memory, so you have to side load the game data onto the SDcard manually.
This is only required if the game data is over 1.5GB as normally the internal memory has 1.6GB+ free now.
If I remember correctly, ext2 worked with my c1905 if I selected ext4 when prompted (I know, a bit weird)

[Q] XPERIA M with Android 4.3 (15.4.A.1.9) and Link2SD (3.7.3) - only FAT32 ?

Problem: Link2SD can not link partitions with EXT2/EXT3/EXT4-Filesystem, only FAT32.
Recently I updated my XPERIA M (C1905) with Sonys PC Companion from Android 4.1.2 to 4.3 (15.4.A.1.9).
I lost root, and Link2SD didn't work.
* Towelroot-v3 gave me (half) root again.
* I installed BusyBox Free 2.5 (v 1.23.0) and SuperSU Pro 2.40 with chainfires SUPERSU-binary 2.40
* I applied remountrebootfix (rootfixer) for 4.3 (2014-06-18, install.bat) to get full root.
* I applied term-init.sh to get init.d-support (seems to be not present in Sonys Android 4.3 / 15.4.A.1.9).
RootValidator says, that I have root. Uni-init says, that I have init.d-Support.
I formatted the (new) external SD-Card (64GB) with Minitool Partition Wizard: First primary partition (57GB), second primary Partition (1.99GB). First I tried EXT2/EXT3/EXT4 - all these attempts fail. The only solution was to format both partitions as FAT32 - doing so everything went well with Link2SD.
My questions:
* Does XPERIA M with Build 15.4.A.1.9 support EXT2/EXT3/EXT4 filesystem on the external SD-Card (first partition) at all?
* Does Link2SD (v. 3.7.3, with Link2SD Plus 1.0.6) support mounting the second partition as EXT2/EXT3/EXT4 on XPERIA M?
Thanks in advance for your help!

That doesn't work - FAT32 doesn't support file sizes bigger than 4GB. Thats why I'm trying the EXT-FileSystems.
But when I tried I've got the following message: "SD-Karte ist beschädigt. Bitte formatieren." ("SD-Card is damaged. Please format."). In my opinion that means, that my XPERIA M (C1905) with Android 4.3 doesn't support external SD-Cards with first partition formated as EXT2/EXT3/EXT4-format.
Is there anybody out there on a XPERIA M and Android 4.3 who's external SD-Card is working with the first partition formatted as EXT2/EXT3/EXT4-format?

Same result with exFAT - "SD-Card is damaged. Please format".
NTFS I tried with "Paragon NTFS & HFS+" - same result.
There seems to be no other way than using FAT32 on the first partition of the external SD-Card.
By the way: I use a second partition formated with EXT2 for Link2SD. First Link2SD refused to mount this second partition as EXT2. As mentioned in another thread mounting as EXT4 solved the problem. It's a little bit strange.

maybe our device only support FAT/FAT32 format on first partition,
yes, maybe it's link2sd bugs or something, I've formatted my second partition as ext3 and when I create the script with ext3, it's came out error, but when I choose ext4 it's working well, I don't know what actually happened
link2sd
How come my device doesn't support any of these formats? I've tried all options for partition sd card, and phone doesn't recognize second partition... and i don't have an option to create link in Link2sd. Do you know what's the problem? Do I have to unlock bootloader?

You definitely don't have to unlock the bootloader. The bootloader of my Xperia M is locked.
The phone itself doesn't recognize the second partition, it's only the app Link2SD mounting the second partition.
Are there any error messages?
When I press ext2 in second partition, i get message - Link2sd cant found 2nd partition. But, when I press other options, I get this error message, that Link2sd sending me - mount script created, please restart your device. Than, phone cant turn on, he's got bootloop until I get off sdcard. Then, phone turn on without problems. I tried all combinations for partition, and got the same error. Must say, when I rooted the phone, i installed also remountrebootfix, found it also on this forum. It didnt helped.
