HI everybody
I am desperately hoping someone can help me with my problemS as I know this phone is very old to you guys. I live in Costa Rica and phones are 4x the price. So this is going to be rather lengthy explanation.
2 phones both N7100 one wh one bl
Black:
-was working on firmware 4.1.2 . There was an OTA update that the phone would download and try to install but it would fail at the 31% mark
White:
-was on 4.2.2 firmware DLK7 the CSC at bootup was BTU and working perfect. Decided to update to 4.4.2 and all went well except I was not getting wifi. Made the mistake of trying to regress not knowing at the time about non downgradable BL. Tried Resurection Remix, same problem with wifi. It will connect when I am on top of the router but the minute I am 3 feet away it says save, secure with no internet. Movistar and Claro chip both work over network. I am realizing now that I probably need to flash the British firmware with multi CSC that includes the BTU. But I am not sure which to flash. Present state
4.4.2
Baseband N7100DXUFNI1
Kernel

When I check what CSC it is using in the multi code it is XTE and the other options do not look compatible for CR
THE BIG PROBLEM IS THE BLACK PHONE
it started randomly turning off. Then put me in bootloop. Flashed new firmware. All went through, PASS in Odin, but would not bootup. Shows battery logo only, with faint light in background turning on and off. I would pull battery out, do the 1,2,3 of holding power button for 1 then 2 then 3 minutes to drain no good. I have gone into recovery wipe and try reboot nothing. Leave battery out overnight and it starts up with new firmware. The moment it turns off, back to bootloop again. Flash new fimware (always staying with old bootloader). Same thing won't turn on. A few days later with no battery bingo, works until shut off. Thought I would try 4 firmware fix. Put in BL,CSC etc. FAIL because of needing PIT . Phone was in the connect to computer logo. Tried wipe in recovery, etc. When put battery back in back to connect to computer. So connected to Kies, would not recognize for recovery or emergency. So put info to upgrade and initialize, all perfect. Except would not turn on, back to battery bootloop. Left battery out overnight. phone turns on and firmware is of ICE the locked carrier in Costa Rica. Does not recognize my sim card intalled. When try restart, back to battery bootloop
AP N7100UBDMA3
CP N7100UBDMA1
CSC N7100ICEMA2
Also when I take the battery out I have to start up without sim card.
Now I am not sure but I am thinking this could be a factor: When I was upgading white phone I tried to NFC pass info from one phone to the other. Fail but some programs interchanged. Supersu passed to black phone and needed update, so I updated and I think that is what may be causing my trouble.
Both roms are official. I have tried all options I could find in this forum, I believe. With exception of PIT
Sorry so long of post but I am so desperate could anyone PLEASE suggest how to proceed.
Thank you
update
I have come to realize that the phone stuck in bootloop with start up normally if I leave the battery out for 7 hours. I have to wait until there is no boot loop at all when battery is inserted. Then the phone starts up with no problem. But the moment it is shut off the boot loop returns. i have tried to speed up buy holding the power button fo the 1, 2, 3, minutes but it doesn't speed it up. I have to wait overnight and then it starts without a problem. I flashed new firmware now, as the last flash was Costa Rican firmware which was locked to only Kolbi. There are no open firmware in CR. I downloaded a UBDLL3 as that works for others here apparently. Waited the 7 hours and phone started up. Emergency calls only. CSC for some reason is booting in ARO which is open Argentina. This is a multi CSC and I don't understand why it didn't pick TPA which is open Panama. Not sure whether to root this and change CSC or whether to download a version with a BTU sales code as I KNOW THIS WORKS. ALSO phone is not charging while turned on now, which poses a big problem when you can't turn off and on so easily. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I've made a mistake after a successful week following installing and running a custom ROM.
After Rooting the GT-I8160 a year ago and having no updates from Samsung since new it took me
a few days setting the phone up jumping from GB to CM11 so I didn't spot that ROOT access had been lost until this morning.
Tinkering with the internals didn't have the fear it held when first buying the phone on the Orange network in the UK
so I deleted Titanium Backup & Supersu but re-installing still left things un-rooted.
So I went straight to the original guide I followed on Cnets and rooted it again .... as I'd easily gained access to the ROM holding
down the 3 buttons manys times now and could do it again if I had trouble. ODIN carried out its job but when the phone restarted
it would get no further than the Splash screen Samsung Galaxy etc. In this position I tried to get it into Recovery mode keeping my
fingers on the buttons until it would turn off and restart, the only difference is when I try the Download mode the following appears
on screen;
Applying Multi-csc ........
Installing Multi-csc
Can't access to '/System/csc/EVR/system
Successfully applied Multi csc.
At the top of the screen it gives the option to Re-boot but again goes as far as Splash Screen where it remains.
I hope I've not killed the phone and that you can suggest how I can re-set it with the aid of Odin - the only access point.
:crying: Have I 'Bricked' it ...... put me out of my misery
Problem Resolved
After more investigating I saw a link recommending downloading the Firmware for Russia Ace 2 as it was the only one that whilst using ODIN
it had the files for PDA, Phone and CSC. After running this it got my phone up & running then from the same site - SamMobile I got the FW for UK & Orange which after 'wiping data/factory resets' brought my phone back to the day I'd purchased it. :victory:
Hope this may help anyone else who fears the end of their phone
As I understand you wanted flash CM11 on GB. If you want flash any custom rom above GB your baseband must be JellyBean. Just remeber
I have the ATT sgh-i747. I was using it as normal. The battery was low and i could not charge it before it got to 0%. After it died, I connected the charger and started it back up. When the screen came on, the "no sim-emergency calls only" message was there and the touch screen did not work. Also, the time and date were off. it said 3:59 September 15th. I tried the normal reset (take battery out, replace, turn back on) several times and still the same thing. I had just replaced the sim reader a month ago, as well as the rear camera and speaker, and everything was working as normal. I opened the phone up to make sure all connections were set. Still the same message. I did a factory reset and after I turned it on, still, the touchscreen does not work and it says no sim. I find it odd that both these things would stop working at the exact same time. Also the phone is long past its warranty. Any ideas on what this could be?
Anyone?
Have you tried flashing another ROM?
I don't know how to do that, if you could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
Before anyone can give you advice, we need as many details as you are able to provide.
Was your phone running a stock ATT ROM? What ROM was it running? Are you able to boot into download mode?
Stock Rom, phone is not rooted and I can boot to download
What stock ROM? It's important that anything you flash does not try to downgrade the bootloader if you were on stock 4.3 or 4.4.
I'm not 100% sure. I want to say 4.3. There was a software update for the phone that automatically downloaded about a week ago but im not sure if that is related.
Since you received an update a week ago, you may be on KK.
I suggest flashing Philz Touch recovery via Odin and see if you can boot into recovery. In recovery you can see if the digitizer responds.
Flash the latest tar version from here in Odin: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/
Hello, I believe I soft bricked my SGH-T889. I was attempting to install CyanogenMod on it using the install app via Windows 8.1. However, somewhere in the middle of the installation, I think it was attempting to install the recovery, and next thing I know when I look back to check, the application on my PC said that CM could not talk to my phone. I then noticed I was stuck on the screen with Cid and a white background. Nothing else!
So, I took out the battery and then attempted to boot into recovery, my result is Cid and the white background screen. I then attempted to boot up the phone, my result was Cid and the white background screen. I then booted into Download Mode, and attempted to flash the root66_TMO_T889UVUCMK7_2.tar.md5 to go back to stock rooted, however, Odin3 3.07 is not recognizing the phone when I plug in the USB cable. I do not get the "Added!" message anywhere. It has always worked before.. please help me! I'm stuck with a phone that cannot do anything but show the blue Cid android.
I so regret flashing the ROM through TWRP. If anyone can provide assistance, it would be most appreciated!
Also, when I boot the phone, there is a red LED that flashes once. What does that mean??
Well what do you know, Odin finally recognized my phone, and the "added!" message in the box appeared. I guess it was because I plugged into the different USB port on my PC , and I went into download mode, and Odin recognized my device. I was then able to flash the root66 4.3 firmware. Problem solved on my own. Now I may flash it again, but this time using TWRP.
But, now let's see what happens. I was only wanting to flash this ROM to see if I have a signal on my phone, because I haven't since I flashed DN4 LTE v2 ROM and the Addon v1.1 (without rebooting) and I have absolutely no signal, not even on stock.. anyone know what's wrong?
EDIT: Okay, T889 is running on root66 4.3 stock firmware. However, I do not have a signal. Status bar is showing a white circle with cross. Baseband version is T889UVUCMK7. Network is unknown, signal strength is -113 dBm 0 asu, mobile network type is unknown, service state is out of service, mobile network state is disconnected. My IMEI is showing correctly. Why don't I have a signal? I'm searching everything on XDA.. and yes, my SIM is inserted correctly, and airplane mode is off. I wonder if this phone SIM reader is dead.. that cannot be the case. Also, when I insert my SIM into my Galaxy S3, it works perfectly fine. So the SIM card is not dead. What should I do?
EDIT2: Went into Settings > Mobile networks, and searched for available networks. Tapped on T-Mobile, and nothing. I scrolled down the status bar and now I get "selected network (T-Mobile) not available" can anyone please help me?
EDIT3: I just reset the binary counter to 0, and the status is official in Download Mode. Flashed stock T889UVUCMK7_T889TMBCMK7_T889UVUCMK7_HOME.tar.md5, and still no service and signal. I'm going to attempt to use a different SIM card later during the day, if that doesn't work, I'm completely out of options. If anyone can provide assistance for me, that would be most appreciated. Thanks.
No longer accepting any solutions, problem is fixed.
Hi! I have a big problem with my A5 2017. Today my phone pop-up the Oreo update, so I was decided to install it (finally!). First of all, I want to appoint that I have bought this phone from the carrier Claro in Argentina. Everything was fine, it downloaded the 1.56 GB of the OTA update but the problem was during installation. It got stuck at 32%, it failed. It rebooted and then an error message pop up to confirm to send to Samsung. I pressed yes and I gave it another shot and again stuck at 32%. Since I wanted to have Oreo so bad, I opened Smart Switch to update it with my laptop and the USB cable. Here's where all the drama began, Smart Switch recognized my phone and the new update, I pressed yes and I waited for the download. Everything was fine, I though that I was going to have Oreo on my phone. It began installing the update and all of the sudden it got sutck at 92% and again an error appear on screen. I pressed ok and this time there was another message saying that I have to use Emergency recovery option from Smart Swicht, I thought there wouldn't be a problem but when I procceded I had to past a code to recover my phone which I did but then it took 4 hours to download the emergency firmware to recover the previous firmware. When everything was set to installation the progress bar got stuck again at 90% this time. Now, I don't know what to do, I have this permanent message on screen "An error occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software." I can't turn off my phone, I can only use the download mode. So my question is what Software do I have to flash in order to recover my phone? I'm downloading the Oreo update (which gave me problems before) but honestly, this is the first time that happens something like that. Do I have to flash Nougat like I had? I'll trip knox I guess but right now I can only think off flashing the lastest firmware through Odin. What would you recommend me to do? Thanks in advance!

You can get out of download mode by holding volume down and power button until screen goes black. If it was me, I would download the latest oreo firmware for your model and flash it in Odin. If that didn't work I would huck it across the floor. JK

Yes, I did it. I've managed to download the lastest firmware, oddly the one that won't install via OTA or Smart Switch. I was wondering if I can flash an unbranded version from my country the next time, I couldn't do it the last time with Nougat. How can I do it if my phone is from a company? Thanks for your answer!
I hope this post help if someone has the same issue after updating an erroneous firmware from Samsung servers via OTA or Smart Switch. My company is Claro from Argentina. My solution was to download the latest firmware from sammobile's site and flash it though Odin. This phone with Oreo is amazing! Cheers.

It should work to flash unbranded firmware, but I am not sure what would happen with your CSC. Personally, I would stick with the right one. But if you you want to change CSC to unbranded, there is a tutorial somewhere on XDA.
HELP PLEASE.Is there a way to flash or root AT&T Note 5,stuck in boot loop mode???
Hi to all
I'm member on XDA for a long time, but I really am a newbie considering rooting, flashing and messing with the phones.
Yesterday ,my At&t Samsung galaxy NOTE 5 restarted by itself and started doing that constantly.Maybe because the memory was almost full so the firmware didn't have enough space to run correctly ,I don't really know.
So I decided to do a FACTORY RESET in order to refresh the phone.I backed all up (it did restart few time while I did that but I managed to finish it).
After I did the factory reset and wiped the cache,I rebooted the phone and that is when the boot loop started.
Once or three times came back and started the phone up to the first settings (I managed to put in my google username e.t.c. but after a minute maybe it freezes and restarted by itself again)
I tried again another factory reset but the boot loop continues.I tried many time to turn it off,it restarted up to INSTALLING UPDATE......then tried to turn it off completely (Volume down+Power+Home button) and somehow I managed to turn it off.
I thought that I can come here and find the instructions on how to FLASH it with ODIN,but I couldn't find the stock firmware for AT&t Note 5.
Then I remembered (and read on internet) that the bootloader on AT&T phones is locked !!!!!
I searched some threads here for at least how to root it ,but I can't find anything clearly.
So I'm asking you for help: IS THERE ANY SAFE WAY THAT I CAN DO FLASH OR ROOT MY AT&T SAMSUNG NOTE 5 (EXPLAINED STEP BY STEP) IN ORDER TO MAKE MY PHONE WORK AGAIN????
I have never before messed with the phone. It has the original stock firmware Android 7.0 Nougat.
And the phone is bought in USA,but I live in EUROPE and have unlocked it ,by buying some code online, few years ago.It was working fine until yesterday.
Thank you in advance guys I hope that someone might help me.
Juno 106
Guys I found here some older version (few months older) of Android 7 for my Note 5 and I managed to do a flash. The flashing went OK I went through settings and after few minutes the phone freezes again and restarts. And then again the same,it works fine for a few minutes, freezes and restarts (I can here the camera working inside sometimes too)...........CAN ANYONE HELP ME REPAIR MY PHONE ,PLEASE ???
Hi again
I don't know why no one is replying to me???
Today I managed to make the settings and power up the phone, restored the back up....the phone is working,BUT the PROBLEM is that it constantly freezes and reboots by itself.Sometimes it works for few minutes and reboots, sometimes it works for 30min and then it reboots, sometimes longer...
What might be the problem? Is it some hardware problem processor ,memory or maybe bad battery? It is older model and I have noticed with Accu Battery that most likely the battery haslowered it's capacity. It drains faster, sometimes when it comes to 15% it drains very fast...
Can anyone help me diagnose the problem?
Thank you in advance
Try booting into Download Mode & flash a new stock firmware if all else fails, assuming u tried a factory reset first with no satisfaction. Guides are everywhere. I HTH

I managed to flash the firmware few times, but the phone keeps freezing after some time and restarts.Sometimes it is stuck in the bootloop, sometimes it starts up to some point, freezes and restarts.
Could it be BAD BATTERY or is it something else?
If it is the battery problem,I will replace it,but I'm afraid that it might be someting else wrong.
What is your opinion?
