i can find an RUU for my htc one m8 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to install the RUU that is for the unlocked/developer but i relocked and while installing it wiped everything so now im stuck with the stock bootloader nothing else, which RUU do you think would work , here is my info the cid is VODAP110

The RUU you tried is specifically and only for the US Developer's Edition. Its a common (but really wrong) notion that it works on any unlocked M8.
I don't think your version has an RUU. Or I can't find it, anyway. You would be looking for RUU 6.12.166.4
If there is no RUU, you'll need to unlock the bootloader again, and restore the 6.12.166.4 stock TWRP backup from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
The file you need is in Post #3 of the thread. Instructions in Post #1.
Also, you need to delete your IMEI and serial number from your OP. These are personal data, which should never be posted online (and they are not useful for us to help you in any way).

I said to delete the IMEI and serial number only, not the whole getvar output. The rest has some useful info. Somebody else may have some insight based on the other data there.

[Q] Please HELP Me, this isn't just another Sprint M8 factory reset thread! TRUST ME

Hi people I hope one of your intelligent folk can help me out. Basically I bought a M8 on eBay at good price. The problem with it is it is STUCK in BOOTLOADER.
When I got the phone it was rooted, boot loader unlocked, and TWRP recovery. So after spending close to 7 hours trying to get this thing back to 100% STOCK, I think I am running of options. So after doing a LOT OF research I learnt that I need RUU to take back to stock but in order to do that I needed to UNROOT, so I CMD; "OEM lock" which made the phone "Relocked" "Tampered". So I thought I was done but now I am still having the same issue as I had before which is in RUU I keeping getting "131 Customer ID Error". Apparently that errors means I am using the wrong region RUU, but how is that possible when I am using the Sprint RUU found on XDA?!? So basically, I believe my solution is that to get my S-off but how can I get my S-off if the only thing I can access is the Bootloader?
Someone please help me! I am willing to paypal money if needed. Thank you.
Check the CID by going into fastboot and type the command:
fastboot getvar all
Are you sure it the Sprint variant? Does the Sprint version have the carrier's logo on it somewhere?

This is what I get:
Also, i am positive this is Sprint version and I should also mention that when I first got the phone I was able to flash roms since it had twrp on it, but everytime i would flash a rom it would keep rebooting about 10 seconds into the os. Which is why I went the RUU route. The RUU i am using can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
The EXE version gives me the 131 error and the ADB version also give me an error.
@YungMoola15 hey man, delete your imei from the post. Your imei should be private.

To OP, its true you should never post IMEI. In any case, just for the record I never told you to post the info returned from "getvar all" (although the vast majority of that info aside from IMEI is not personal info); I just told you to check the CID using that command.
Does the device's CID match that of Sprint (don't personally know what that is)?

Is says right in the first post of that thread that you need SuperCID to run this RUU; and even gives the fastboot command to change to SuperCID.

Does anyone have the stock RUU or nandroid backup with stock recovery for Singapore firmware? I believe it should be 2.11.708.27 (cid_044) but I might be wrong since I flashed rom since 1.32. Rooted but S-ON. Not going to S-OFF so please do not ask me to change to supercid. Thanks in advance.

Good luck!
That is incorrect. Beta versions have three numbers behind the last dot in their version numbers*. Firmware versions of the same SKU can differ if different CIDs are used. That's the case with 1.32.401.17 and 2.11.708.27 which both got distributed for only one CID although their SKUs are used by several CIDs.
I don't have the needed backup. And since no one else provided a backup, yet, you either have to buy the sunshine app, find someone with a java card/an xtc clip or you'll have to use Llabtoofer's RUU service. None of these solutions is available for free.
* Some examples which got distributed publicly although they're Beta versions: 2.10.401.180 or 2.11.708.180

How to install a MM Custom ROM while on KITKAT? (International version)

Day 1, I got my phone I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
I created a backup and tried installing Android Revolution HD 53.1 and it worked, however my WiFi didn't work and boot times would be long, so I uninstalled it and went back to my backup I had made. I read that this happens because my current firmware 1.58.502.1 (4.4.2 KITKAT) is too low (incompatible) to download Android Revolution HD 53.1.
Recently I also bought the sunshine S-off method. So I am currently S-OFF.
ALSO worth noting while I have the international edition of HTC ON M8, I am using T-MOBILE
With S-OFF am I able to go directly to Android Revolution HD 53.1 (which is MM Custom Rom)? If not how do I make my devie compatible with this version?
I would appreciate any help, thank you.

Download the T-Mobile ruu from HTC website, flash twrp, clean wipe, that's making sure the top four options are checked in advanced wipe, and then flash the rom of your choice

Installing the RUU will overwrite twrp that you had to have to be as far in the process as you are, you'll have to reflash it. http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-t-mobile/news
Check for OTA update just to be sure
Flash twrp
Install ROM of choice

Please do, I'll be more than happy to help with any questions although you seem to have 90% of this down. The other 10% is small stuff only plausible via sunshine.
Lollipop 502 (AT&T) firmware can be found here (packed with custom ROM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/development/att-4-4-3-2-22-1540-3-debloated-sense-6-t2837365
Another option (since you have s-off) is to change to Developer's Edition CID or SuperCID. then flash to Marshmallow firmware or MM RUU (if you want to be all fancy like that). Although the current custom ROMs (including MM ones) should run fine with LP firmware (its KK firmware that is the main problem).

Honestly, I gave up. I was reading some tutorials but did not understand what I had to do. I come from a Galaxy S4 and that phone is infinitely more times easier to mod than this phone. I have had to jump through so many hoops to just root it.
However, I have no idea where to go now, I feel like such a noob.

Stick with it. Every device has its own learning curve. And we're happy to help and explain as much as needed to get the job done.
But really, flashing the firmware is not too difficult; especially considering you've already accomplished unlocking the bootloader, know how to flash custom ROMs, etc.
The link I gave you has instructions on how to flash the firmware. After doing those steps (1-3) just flash TWRP 3.0.0.0, as the version indicated in the page I linked is a bit old.

HTC M8 from Three UK stuck

Hello everyone.
I have an M8 with a corrupted software.
Always stuck on HTC logo.
Sometimes when it boots, it shows "3" , which means it's from Three UK.
I looked everywhere but couldn't find the corresponding RUU, except on http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads , but it's only around 500 MB !
It's in zip format.
I can go to the bootloader, but it doesn't accept to FACTORY-RESET (gets stuck on HTC screen)
Software status: Official
RELOCKED
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I unlocked the bootloader in order to try to install another RUU.
Now it shows "UNLOCKED" .
I installed twrp and superuser (I guess).
According to the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
I have to install the sunshine.apk which I can not because my phone doesn't boot except to the bootloader !
What to do here?

Unlocking the bootloader will not allow you to run another version's RUU. I don't know why you think that, but its not correct information.

S-off is not the correct path, to do what you want (nor should it be necessary - save yourself $25). As you've figured out, you need a working OS to s-off; but working OS is the reason you want to s-off. So you have a Catch-22 dead end.
If there is no RUU, unlocked bootloader and TWRP are good things to have done. Now restore the 6.13.771.4 stock nandroid backup, using the file and instruction here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

One question, why to restore 6.13.771.4?
How will I know it's the correct one for my phone, and not a part of the pre-installed corruption?

This is the main version given in your screenshot in your top post. And you'll see from the stock nandroid collection, that its the correct version number for your CID (carrier version).
Simply put, this is the stock Marshmallow ROM for your M8 version.
Somebody likely made the backup with a working OS. Yours has become damaged or corrupt (most likely) just on your phone. Not every phone with this software number is going to be broken!
didn't work!

excellent turorial.
I followed the steps one by one,
didn't get any errors,
but it didn't work.
I got the HTC screen, then "3" screen, then stuck on HTC One screen!
Any ideas?

Any particular reason why you are looking in command prompt? Since the steps don't use command prompt (unless you adb push the files).
What version TWRP?
Can you post a screenshot of what the TWRP backup folder structure (on the phone) looks like in Windows Explorer? Not sure what we can be missing here. But its worth a look.
Also, you might try the a Lollipop backup. It should work fine with the MM firmware. Although it may cause an issue with OTA updates (mixing LP ROM with MM firmware), at least it (should) get the phone up and running.

EDIT, NOT SURE IF THIS WORKS WITH S-ON. YOU WILL HAVE TO DO SOME DIGGING. I HAVEN'T BEEN S-ON IN PROB 7 YEARS, SO I FORGET. YOU WILL NEED TO DO YOUR OWN SEARCHING TO MAKE SURE THESE DIRECTIONS WORK. THEY ARE FINE FOR S-OFF, AND MAYBE S-ON. 4a, SD-Card METHOD, SHOULD BE FINE TO TEST. IT IS THE SAFEST METHOD AS IS.
1) Download the RUU:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673956719939830809
2) Download this htc_fastboot.exe
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=95897840722646249
3) Put RUU and htc_fastboot.exe in the same folder with your adb files in it. If you don't have them, I have kindly uploaded the files for you... All you need to do is extract it.. Right click, Extract to htc_Fastboot10/
4) Instructions to flash the RUU:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip 2PS6IMG_PERFUME_UHL_O80_SENSE90GP_MR_HTC_Europe_3.16.401.2_R4_release_519849.zip
htc_fastboot reboot
4a) Instructions to flash the RUU - SD-Card Method:
Code:
rename
2PS6IMG_PERFUME_UHL_O80_SENSE90GP_MR_HTC_Europe_3.16.401.2_R4_release_519849.zip
to
2PS6IMG.zip
Place onto root on phone SD-Card
Reboot to download mode
Press VolUp to confirm and proceed with the flash, or press VolDown to cancel
It should stop at "end UI updating. Press Power to continue" - the phone will now shut off. To turn it back on, press and briefly hold power again.

This is the exact thing,
Unlocked bootloader throught HTC dev. installed TWRP. Downloaded Leedroid files and i saved them in sd card. And went to TWRP and wiped . then i flashed . went through the customization options which leedroid gives, i chose a kernal too in the option. and flashed.
Flashing finished.
I rebooted the phone. A leedroid logo came up . it stayed their for like 10 - 15 mins. i switched it off by pressing the power button more than 10-15 seconds i guess. Then i went to recovery and restored the backup. and i was on a black screen. I tried to Flash a RUU but it was failed(i guess the CID no. was not right) . Then i wiped again and restored again. I thought my phone was dead . i was trying to remove the sim card from my phone and put it in an old lenovo. By mistakely i removed the SD card and error came while restoring. i simply pressed reboot and my phone was somehow turned on. It was factory default. But my sim card is not working.
Between, i am having a doubt. The RUU is only based on the CID number ? the number in download mode (...401.2) has anything to do with it ?
Are you on Oreo Firmware? As i know there are no RUU for oreo firmware, so you must to downgrade. On S-ON, you can't just flash RUU if you want to downgrade. Follow step from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/how-to-rollback-oreo-to-marshmallow-s-t3787101/page2 (see post #15). I just downgrade from oreo to nougat using this guide.

No, you shouldn't
So you are pulling SD cards and or sim cards out of the devixe while it's booting/flashing.....for god sake man. Thats stupid.
A RUU is made for many cids, actually the 3.16.401 RUU is for every device that has that number is the Download mode. So if your phone has that the RUU is correct. When the download mode says 2.41.401 then you need that RUU which is also available here at xda. There is no other. And flash leedroid again and wait longer. Have patience.
Or flash the RUU, rename the zip and put it on the sdcard, boot to download mode and let it flash.

What are you in about. You yourself linked the backup thread here in one of your previous posts, in the last comments there is a Android file host link with the 3.16.401 RUU. I really have no idea how and where you guys are searching and why would you recommend him to downgrade ??? Giving help is one thing but if you don't even know where to find the files it's better to stop. This all baffles me!

Dude knock it off.....3.18.400 is NOT the international RUU. The 3.16.401 is the international RUU and if you would check that specific thread and read a little and click a link to see what files are shared you see one of the last posts in the thread that i already shared the full wwe RUU!
We are discussing the 3.16.401 RUU NOT the 3.18.400 RUU that's a completely different region and file. Of course not all RUU files are out on xda or the www for that matter.

No it's kinda disturbing that you are going from left to right as you also said you successfully downgraded your device to nougat so why do you need the RUU ? If you successfully downgraded to nougat you can also update officially again to oreo so that would disable the need of the RUU. You are giving the idea that you need the 3.16.401 RUU but you don't even need that one.
The only thing you are doing in this thread is repeating people's answers and confusing the original poster.
To the original poster of this thread :
Download the 3.16.401 RUU i linked, use the SD card method and follow that. It will flash the device back to stock. If that doesn't work you are doing something wrong.

I will stop the discussion here, i am experienced in Android and specifically HTC devices. I know what i am talking about and know exactly what the OP needs. And it's none of the things you suggest as such as downgrading.
Cheers.
