Hi,
Greetings from Bali.
Last week, i buy a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Docomo and upgrade it till 5.1.1 lollipop (before is Kitkat 4.4) install it it with standard apps (Instagram, Chat Messenger, MX Player, etc) also put HD film inside the phone storage (SD card not insterted)
and suddenly after 3 days i use it, when i watching film with MX Player, it start freezing and restart, and after that the sound is not working (speaker, ringtone, phone call, and every thing using sound)
Trying to research and found many way to fix it (install soundabout, clear cache, factory reset, flashing, downgrade to 5.0.2 and the camera is not working lol, downgrading again to 4.4.1 and camera solved but sound is still same) but no ones works.
Today i root my Z1 compact with kingroot, and still no clue about what to make the Z1 sound appear again.
Could you please assist me what to do?
Many thanks.

Definitely seems like hardware then... Strange coincidence that it happened right after a crash, though. I guess it might be worth a try to flash a custom rom and see if it works, (your roms are both stock, right?).

So I took out my age old xperia M(single sim) a couple of days ago and installed cm 12.1 on it. The only issue I'm facing with it is that if I keep the phone on standby for a while the phone completely and silently shuts itself off. When this happens it doesn't turn on with the power key as well so the only way to turn it on after this happens is by removing and re inserting the battery and then pressing the power button. (phone boots normally then)
This problem only appears when the phone is in standby. I could use it 2hrs straight and the phone would keep functioning normally as long as I don't keep it on standby for a long period.
I've tried tons of different cm12.1 roms and factory reset the phone multiple times but the problem is there with every single rom. Haven't tried any rom that isn't based on 12.1 yet.
Strange thing is that this standby dead thing doesn't happen when there is a music app that's playing some song while in standby. Even if the phone is on silent and media volume is 0. So the temporary fix is to keep playing some song and keep media volume at 0. I would be really happy if someone comes up with a permanent solution though. Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Was the problem present on the stock ROM?

I have the same problem with CM based roms, went back to stock and it doesn't have this issue, could it be something to do with ambient display/doze?

No, I don't think so. Which version did you come from? I would suggest flashing 15.4.A.1.9 first because most custom ROMs use it as base and doesn't offer full compatibility with older versions.

Nope. My sister had been using this phone on 4.3 since 1yr now. I decided to use it as a secondary media device when she got a new phone. When I first unlocked my bootloader after rooting the device went into bootloop. So had to restore it to stock 4.1 Indian (couldnt find 4.3 indian ftf) using flashtool (took 2 days and tons of researching to get the drivers working). Then I rooted it again and flashed twrp and cm 12.1. Have been facing this problem ever since.
It's driving me crazy now. Might go back to stock if it doesn't get fixed
Edit - also just checked the sim slot isn't working either. Tried multiple 12.1roms but it won't get detected. Didn't realise this before as I'm using this as a media device and don't need sim card working anyway.

Do what I said to @kurtbvb too, as it may just be base incompatibility. Flash everything except the TA partition (if present) and wipe /data and /cache.

So do I flash stock 4.3 using twrp or do I need to flash the ftf file using flashtool ?

Flashtool. Some files are required which custom recoveries can't flash.
Just flashed the above mentioned ftf file and then rooted the phone, installed twrp and then cm 12.1 based rom. Everything runs perfect now. No random shut downs and Sim card works as well.
Thanks you so so much
Hi guy,
I have a problem when i update to android M. When I play music by the HTC music, or Google Play Music, I face a problem, when the screen goes off after some time, maybe 10-20 secs after the display shuts, the music starts distorting and it is very noticeable. As soon as I turn on the display sound goes back to normal.
I have tried flash the SD rom, the Viper Rom, Stock MM rom, and before flashing, i do a full wipe (data, cache, david, sytem), but this problem still happen on each rom.
Can someone help me, please.
Thanks

Yes, understood, because when i try to flash Android M's roms, I don't flash the newest FW (6.12) first.
I flashed the latest FW and everything working fine for now.
Thank @aidinvm_ultimate
Long story short, I started having this issue 2 days later the flashing of CyanogenMod 13 ROM, almost a month ago, maybe a little more. Searching on Google it appeared as a problem of the Cyano ROM, watching the amount of complains found on the web but, after flashing a stock-based ROM, the problem persisted. So I thought that maybe the earpiece speaker got damaged and orderer a new part on eBay. While waiting for the new part to replace, I decided to try to flash the latest stock firmware, trying to solve any kind of kernel related problems. Of course it didn't work. Finally the new part arrived and, after installing it, with a bit of disappointment on my face I realized it wasn't the earpiece speaker the problem: still no sound in calls.
Now, could the problem be the motherboard itself? The 3.5" jack, which belongs to the same module, works just fine. Any idea?

First of all thank you very much for the answer, mate, unfortunately even by following the steps you listed the problem isn't gone. Any other tip?
I'm having the same prob 2. No sound on either sides of the call. The strange part is the sound returns intermittently

What do you exactly mean? Would you verify if the problem occurs only during calls? You can test the earpiece by downloading a specific app from the Play Store (e. g. Speaker Tester).
I've been playing around with the phone flashing modems, bootloaders, stock ROMs et cetera but nothing seems to solve the issue.

Hey guys,
I got my G4 H815 delivered with MM pre-installed a few months ago. I decided to downgrade to LP to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader. Everything worked like a charm, except the Camera won't focus anymore at all (no matter what app), the manual focus does not work either. I already did multiple factory resets (removed root, tried a different LP version) and cleared the cache for the camera app.
So after nothing worked and I worried my camera got a hardware defect, I returned to Marshmallow, and yes, the focus works perfectly fine once again. So the hardware does work. After that I tried an older LP Update, but same result. So I flashed MM for the second time tonight, and ofc it works on MM...
However, I would prefer to have a rooted (but locked) phone. Is there anything you guys could think of that causes that behavior? As I said, I got my H815 with MM pre installed!
Thanks for your help!
Any ideas?

hi !
-the firmware update is to fix errors and improve the phone a bit. there are several videos on youtube that show the focus problem of g4. focus is slow. mine was with MM too so i don't have any personal experience on that problem.
-yes you can root without unlocking. unlocking the bootloader is something you are gonna do to install a custom bootloader or custom recovery.
Also search better this forum. there are custom roms you can install and keep your bootloader untouched
Sorry for bringing up such an old thread, but have you found any fixes? Im having the exact same problem right now.
Same here, I was forced to go back to MM as a result, but i miss having root so much
I've flashed Lineage 15.1 and found that All sounds works well (Including Ringtones, Call sound etc). But when I started to play music, using whatever player there is no sound. I tried to wipe cash and data and there is no use. Then I tried to flash another ROM (PixelExperience_sagit-8.1.0-20171231-1819-UNOFFICIAL) and still no sound.
I flashed back to official ROM (miui_MI6_7.12.7_c8bdc02340_7.1) and everything works. SO is there any solution to solve this problem in Android 8.1? Is this a common problem?

I flashed it and found that it still refused to work. And it seems that the music is playing back and force. The progress bar is always at 0:01 and it doesn't play. While waiting for about a minute, it starts to go but still no sound.
I flashed the firmware through twrp, and then I wipe the cache and the data. Is there anything wrong? Please help~
Same here. Wiped everything, installed firmware then os then gapps and rebooted. Happy for any possible solution.
