Anyone with KGL installed 5.1.1 - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Anyone that have installed 5.1.1 ( malaysk, boo, DSA or any other) has success with Bluetooth on KGL MTCB. Please been trying all available fix for it but can't get it to work it connects to MCU but does not show up in Bluetooth app. People with KDL have no problem with that its just KGL I'm thinking. Tried with DSA and typos a while back to solve it but all they said was change BT in setting and change apk to KGL BT apk, but did not worked. So please anyone has a solution help.
Thanks

I didn't dare to risk as I read lot of ppl complaining on all LP ROMs beside DSAs only on KLD. So I believe it is not only type (KGL or KLD) but also my version that wil/mayl make problems with KLD based MTCC ROMs.
So I will wait and see if devs will realise how complex this mixture of types, versions and tom bases is and will start to deal with it in manageable way which will incorporate adequate testing and true understanding what is going on under the surface. Mal is too amateurish and focused on cosmetics (and lacking even good will to support users in trouble), DSA is dealing with his KLD unit and his target is to fix his own problem (with great good will to enable everyone else to use his work but not ensuring that it will work 100% as he cannot test each and every combination) while booroondook is not even active here on XDA at all.
So, as for me is most important to have robust basic functions as I drive a car and not play with gadget, I decided to stick with KK which works 100%. Yes I would like to have LP (even I don't see any concrete benefits as all basic functions are same!) but I don't want to risk reliability.

Thanks for answer nobody seems to figure out what's causing this. Well I'm on 4.4.4 booroondook for now. Same I think malaysk is too much to deal with, I like small and simple close to OEM but with more app space. So what u think is good 4.4.4 ROM and what r u using. Thanks again I guess we have to wait for 5.1.1.

I'm also on booroondook LP as it is FUSE with minimal bloatware. Then I installed few customised apps and closed modules and I'm very happy. Everything works 100% stable and performances are as good as possible on these units (you have to be realistic what you pay is what you get).
I'll wait and see how LP will progress and if it gets performance and stability same as KK then I will upgrade. No other reasons. Nothing new, nothing better currently.

BTW which MCU version of KGL you have? Is it higher than 2.83? I would like to know if anybody has later KGL MCU.

Same MCU 2.83. So you said "I'm also on booroondook LP as it is FUSE with minimal bloatware. Then I installed few customised apps and closed modules and I'm very happy. Yes. Both phone and OBD2. Phone is with CM 13 custom ROM and my obd2 is chiepest Chinese elm 1.5
I'm stating my phone and obd2 as I believe that problems are not only caused by HU and it's ROM but also by the other side. Yes tgese HU have very rudimentary BT support and thus it is important to have other side which is compatible. If your phone works fine with some other device, it is possible that both phone and that other device support higher version of BT stack which is higher than supported by our HU.

Hi,
I have a KGL MTCB unit with MCU KGL-2.83 installed on Opel Astra J.
I upgraded my unit (original KK ) to DSA 5.1.1 and I dont have any problem related with Bluetooth. I have tested the DSA roms based on MTCB fw and the newest based on MTCC fw. The bluetooth works in both versions so.. i think it is not a KGL problem at least in my unit.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my phone is connected but cannot see in Bluetooth app nor in setting Bluetooth. My MCU kgl 2.83 Bluetooth in factory setting is on SD_BT. Can you please tell me what can be the problem. I put 4.4.4 and I see it in both app and setting. Also can you tell me what Bluetooth in setting you have.

Its very rare ...
My BT is different in factory setting i have WQ_BC6. You could try changing the BT to the one that i have in factory settings.
Just a stupid question maybe...but... i never have synced my phone with the BT stock option, i dont know if you sync first the phone in the BT stock option later it is shown in the BT app.
I always setup my phone following these steps :
-> I open the BT app (not the BT stock option inside of settings ) and in the phone section (i dont remember the icon), press the button that search phones. Have you try this way?

Try other BT options - Im not sure that each and every unit even it is KGL uses the same BT module!
Also be sure that you enable Address/Phone book sharing on your phone when you pair, as if you don't then BT will not work even it shows as paired (happened to me).

No need to close the thread IMO; Only thing that seems proven is that most Optimus G's, including ATT's, have no stock FM app included.
FM was touted some time back, but I've been finding it hard to find an Optimus G variant with working FM. Korean F180 perhaps ?
Any schematics out there ?
If the FM receive antenna pin is connected to the wired headset jack, then FM should be possible, just as it is on the ATT HTC OneX LTE w/ S4 & WCN3660. (OG has 3660 for Bluetooth & WiFi, right ?)
Could someone try my FM app here and send me a debug log ? I'd prefer to see a rooted device logs, but stock is a start: http://d-h.st/UwH
Use Menu-> Test-> Email-> Logs and after 20 seconds or so, press Send, or get file from /sdcard/sprt_debug.txt .
If the antenna pin is connected, FM should be possible, but this may require a custom kernel at least.
My interest is more in the similar Nexus 4, but I have enough debug info on it so far, at least until someone enables FM in a custom kernel. We don't know if Nexus 4 antenna pin is connected yet.
The Nexus 4 thread is here, for anyone interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963623&page=13

That's not too surprising if Spirit doesn't have root/SU.
If you want to send me a debug log, use Menu-> Test-> Email-> Logs and press Send after 20 seconds.
A log won't give me too much useful info though, unless Spirit has root.

I did allow Spirit root privileges. I sent the email off with logs. Attached to this post is a screenshot when I open Spirit, to help you if needed.
If I go to the debug menu (3845#*970#) then WCDMA-only, there is an FM radio test, but it seems non-functional. I attached a screenshot of it as well.

Thanks !
The positive includes the usual FM controls in the ALSA audio driver, and a virtual APPS_FM directory which is common too.
There is no sign of radio-iris or radio-iris-transport.ko kernel drivers though.
So at minimum, a kernel with those drivers enabled needs to be loaded to see if FM can work and the antenna pin is connected.
It may be possible to flash a ROM from an Optimus G variant that supports FM. But I have no idea if that's possible without bricking the phone or creating other problems.
If anyone finds info on an Optimus G variant with FM (F-180 ?) please post. A ROM dump from such a variant would be useful.

Apparently the Japanese variant, the LGL21 I believe, supports over the air TV, but not fm... Any chance a system dump of that could be helpful? I don't have this model, but I could see about finding a dump. From what I've been finding out it seems no model supports fm radio out of the box.

I doubt it will help the cause of FM, but you never know. I'd be happy to look at a system dump briefly, or a debug log from the free version of Spirit, using Menu-> Test-> Email-> Logs. ( http://d-h.st/pnT )
BTW, somebody finally got a kernel with FM drivers loaded on a Nexus 4. The FM chip "works" just fine, but RSSI is always 0 or negative, which usually means the FM antenna pin is not connected. Which means the N4 can't have FM.
And this might even imply the Optimus G doesn't have usable FM either. Somebody could try that N4 kernel or a similar one, if it's possible to share kernel without bricking.
From a practical perspective for me, now that the N4 seems "semi-proved" to have no FM, I'm not really too interested in the Optimus G at this point.

Would be great, but I don't have this phone, so somebody with the phone needs to do testing.
Here's some info from the N4 thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963623&page=13
There is only one configuration I've seen work on devices with the Qualcomm S4/S4+ SOC and Qualcomm WCN3660 FM/BT/WiFi combo chip:
- radio-iris driver compiled into the kernel.
- radio-iris-transport driver built as a loadable module.
Building the transport driver into the kernel doesn't work, for whatever reason.
MANY devices, even those without FM, now have a /system/etc/init.qcom.fm.sh shell script file which mostly does an insmod on /system/lib/modules/radio-iris-transport.ko .
My app, or a system/root portion of the framework or whatever, does this to activate the V4L driver:
"setprop hw.fm.mode normal ; setprop hw.fm.version 0 ; setprop ctl.start fm_dl"
You could also do this, from a root shell:
insmod /system/lib/modules/radio-iris-transport.ko
Or run the QCom FM init script in /system/etc .
...
BTW, with radio-iris loaded (in kernel), but WITHOUT radio-iris-transport loaded (as a loadable), a /dev/radio0 V4L access pseudo-file is created. But trying to use it generally results in a crash and reboot of the phone. Android drivers are often written badly, and crash like this when "unexpected" stuff happens.
I think the same happens when the transport driver is built into the kernel directly.
...
Once both drivers are successfully loaded, you can try my free app here: http://d-h.st/pnT
With a wired headset plugged in for antenna, and when tuned to a strong station, the RSSI at top left should be over 20 or so. Zero or negative likely means no FM antenna connection, like the N4.
Hey Shelnutt, if your still willing to make the test kernel, I could probably test it out.

Hi there.
In my previous car I had a RNS510. In the car under the seat was a bluetooth module that used a Nokia (yeah really) protocol to connect phones to it, called RSAP. Its only built in a specific range of VAG cars in a short periods. I was a lucky one (not!) to get one.....
To get Bluetooth connectivity I used an app from Play Store as described here: http://goo.gl/eJxOUF.
My advice: check if it is RSAP by using the trial version of the software. The actual software isn't free. I got functionality (not full tho) with the app.
Edit: it connected my DHD, OneX and my m8 with it.

Hi Steven,
Just did some quick research and it seems to use a2dp. And this is supported by the m8 out of the box.
Not on Viper anymore, but can you confirm if the next lib is still there:
/system/lib/hw/audio.a2dp.default.so
If so, can you tell me if you are using sound mods like HK or Viper4android?
Edit: just trying to eliminate some possibilities. Strange thing is that your iPhone4 and the Lumia don't work either.

Just downloaded Viper and it should be there. What I would do:
1. Dirty flash Viper
2. Remove all bt contacts
3. Rename your phone name to fi m8
4. Try again
If not: try to pair your phone with bt to another one. If that works, it has to be your RNS
Then I would check RNS firmware if it's the last version available.
Thanks MarckX,

I have done the dirty flash and changed the name like you said MarckX but still nothing sadly. only good thing is that my phone screen of my RNS315 changed there is just standing Phone instead that there is no phone found or to connect text. Connecting with a iphone or lumia with bluetooth on the HTC took some time to work after 2 reboots.

how to add DAB to Malaysk modded ROM?

Hi guys, have got the malaysk rom running on my RK3188 KLD6 stereo but can't see any DAB app.
I tried wavesink, but that's for USB dongles from what I gather, so didn't work. Also tried some DAB+ app that came up in play store but couldn't figure it out.
Is there an app for the KLD units available? Or do I need to ask the seller for the original dab.apk?
Cheers

I would like to change the Music stock app to another player app and make it the default system player. In my phone I use RocketPlayer and I like very much.
Can it be done? I guess I would have to do root ..... that gives me a little fear hehehe
Thank You!
I've not found the way to do this on a lollipop based ROM. On 4.4 (malysk ROM) I used XposedMTC to set the right app and disable inputs.
Can anybody confirm that we cannot do this anymore on 5.1? For me, this would definitely be the reason to switch back to 4.4.
I would also make Rocket default player.
I can use it "manualy" but steering wheel prew/next buttons trigers on radio or default music app.

The kennel is 4.4.192-perf+ #2, built on Fri Nov 15
Battery seems fine to me, similar to Android 9 so far. But it's too early to make any conclusion, we'll have to wait a few days of use to see how it goes.
Edit : one has to enable the new gestures. They fill very natural after a few seconds, and free the space that used to be taken by the navigation bar.
News gesture?

Autocorrect probably. I would assume they meant "new gestures".
Anyone having issues with the echos with voice calls or lag/sluggishness like mentioned in the following thread?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-1/help/android-10-update-broke-calling-t4022177
I have problem with podcast addict, pause resume lag is to big about 10s (when I press key on my Sony headphones) when on mobile data (streaming). Also eq doesn't work in this app.
Google duo no sound, mic doesn't work...
Battery is not good like on droid 9.0
I will hard reset my phone.

Correct.
The one issue I have with Android 10, is the GCam ports don't work so well. Black.rider's 6.2 seems not to save any pictures, or to freeze a lot. 7.2 are also quite unstable, I'm still looking for a good one.

Thx. It won't save any picture. Do you use particular settings or a config? The list of provided config files don't have one specific for Nokia 7.* phones.
I'm actually happy I decided not to update yet. Seems Nokia didn't work out all the bugs. My worry now is how long it will be until they fix these bugs.

Got the OTA update about two days ago, and it basically killed my WiFi and Bluetooth radios. They work, sort of, but my main router WiFi cannot connect, and Bluetooth audio skips for no real reason. I even did a factory reset to try and correct this with the OTA update file out there, but essentially it didn't fix my issue, and now I'm pretty upset that I did that.
Anyone know how I can downgrade back to Pie so I can at least connect to WiFi and get all my apps back quickly?
Upgraded. No real issues at all. Slightly decreased battery life for first two days then fine. All my hardware and software work 100% no problems.
I connect to multiple Bluetooth device regularly in the car and on bicycle rides. No issues with Garmin. No issues with anything.

Yes, I had an issue with voicemail couple of times. There have been lags too. Bit disappointed. Had similar experience when upgraded to pie from nogut last year on a different device.
Can you try if equaliser works properly? It not always work for me
