My N5X on 7.0 Nougat is super smooth & fast except in Chrome. Pages take a long time to load, switching between tabs is slow, and sometimes the browser just freezes for a few seconds.
Anyone else have issues with Chrome?

1) Your CPU might be throttled, let your phone cool down
2) Close some tabs, you don't really need 80 tabs open

Neither applies to my phone. It was just 8 tabs.

Im having this problems too. Its basically only when the page loads, it just hangs at the end of the load for a, let say, 10 seconds. Meanwhile the webpage is unresponsive, thus unusable.
Its quite random, too, which can get on your nerves. ?
It happens more often than I like it too but it's whatever now. This is with a simple page being the only tab. Sometimes clearing all apps helps but other times it's still laggy. Really can't wait for the Google Pixel (Sailfish). This phone has been okay most of the time but when it lags, it's pretty bad.

Just updated my 4.0.4 Yakju to 4.1.1 via the OTA, and I've already noticed something that I can attribute to what they said during Google I/O -- "the screen will now try to guess where you're going to touch next." Now, I'm not sure if that specifically is what's causing it (or if I just horribly misquoted from my very fail memory), but here's the problem:
I used to be able to scroll repeatedly and quickly with my thumb through a list up or down in quick succession (that is, flicking the screen up or down about two times every 1 or 1.5 seconds). Now when I do this, it will stop or slow down the scrolling to a CRAWL. I have to flick, and wait til it slows down or nearly stops, before flicking again. It doesn't always happen, but it happens probably 8/10 times. Inexplicably, it happens more often when trying to quickly scroll up, than down. Actually, it almost never happens when trying to scroll down, and it's not that I'm not making contact with the screen when going up, or touching it differently. I feel like it's just predicting where my thumb is going to be and stops the scrolling when I touch it again. It's very annoying! Aside from this, Jelly Bean is awesome!
So, is anyone else experiencing this? Am I crazy? Do I just need to get used to flicking, waiting, and flicking? Do dogs dream in color?
Also, not sure if this is posted in the right place or not; my apologies if it happens to be the latter.
Yes I do experience this but I got used to it since 4.1
Sent from my Jelly Beaned GNexus
I've been experiencing the same thing. I find that if you lock and then unlock your phone, the scrolling becomes smooth again.
I noticed something was wrong with scrolling. Hopefully this can be fixed.

I haven't noticed this at all. Scrolling is awesome in fact. I'll be glad to take a video of 4.1.1 of me scrolling through over 1000 songs, hundreds of contacts and easily flicking through, buttery smooth...
Haven't noticed this on 4.1 or 4.1.1.
Possibly a bug?

Weird that two of you haven't experienced this, but a few of us have. Wondering what variation you're running? Takju/Yakju/_______? GSM or CDMA (has it been released for CDMA phones yet)?
Maybe it's something specific to a certain build, or maybe it just exacerbates faulty hardware that wasn't noticeable before? Hmm..
I dont experience this at all. Maybe you are slightly touching the screen while pulling your thumb up to re-swipe down, thus slowing down the scroll? That has happened to me a few times, but that is normal behavior. When i try to scroll as fast as I can, like 3 fast swipes a second, there are no slowdowns at all.
Takju GSM here BTW running 4.1.1 deodexed.

Running Stock GSM Yakju non-deodexed 4.1.1
And nah, I made sure I double-checked myself for stupidity before posting, and it wasn't me! Aside from that, even if I was doing something wrong, it's not like I suddenly changed a habitual behavior between 4.0.4 and 4.1.1, there's something definitely going on differently. Especially since I was flick scrolling through twitter out of boredom prior to updating
I have this happening when using ondemand governor on 4.1.1. Interactive governor is smooth.
Probably it is related to specific apps?
I tried to scroll many times as fast as I can on the stock browser while browsing Engadget, and everything smooth. No wait no touch predictions.
But, for example, our beloved XDA app is now terrible. Stuttering, jerkey, janky and the keyboard input using SwiftKey is laggy.
I compared the keyboard input versus Facebook or Google+, I can feel clearly the XDA app is laggy.

It happens the most prominently for me when going to Settings > Apps > All and scrolling to the bottom, then attempting to flick quickly back to the top. For some reason, the behavior is *mostly* absent using Twitter, though it still exists. Weird that it happens more in some places than others, and that one of them is part of the Android UI (rather than an app).
That is the same bug we're talking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576739
I've it since 4.0.4 (where multitouch bug disappeared and appeared this sensibvity touch bug)
I notice it a lot when scrolling pages in web browser.
Just lock and unlock GNexus to fix it.
But after some time, it appears again...

Fwiw i just tried this and had absolutely no issues. I tried multiple times scrolling to the bottom and up again and even being lazy with the height of my thumb it was fine. To stop it I'd have to press my thumb down mid scroll to scroll to stop it. I'm using OTE 4.1.1

Is anyone having any issues with their 2013 N7 freezing? I've had it completely freeze up on me once, and several time just today it has had major input lag (like 2-3 seconds later) or would just not accept input. It hasn't been localized to any particular app.
Is this a common problem? Should I just go exchange mine?
Seems like a software issue which can be easily remedied.

When I first got my new Nexus 7 I did notice some "freezes" and unresponsiveness. Touches that would go unrecognized (links in the browser, back button). did a factory reset and watched it in case I decided I needed to exchange it. But it is seemed to improve and I rarely run into the freezing.
I've so far not returned/exchanged it, but an still keeping an eyes on it.
I have most certainly experienced a heavy freeze period while typing on the onscreen keyboard. While typing in all the credentials on first set-up I experienced moments of almost 20 seconds of non-response, followed by all input entering as if it was lagged out network style.
Rooting and flashing a new rom, this has yet to happen. This is why I love Android so much... its community knows that it is Unix and treats it as such.
Yea mines freeze sometimes

yeah sometimes mine locks up for like a good 15 seconds.. hitting the power button doesn't shut the screen off either.. then when it unfreezes, it does everything I did lol like pull down the bar, hit home, and the screen off

Same issue. I think I will factory reset it + install cleanrom with the jassy kernel and see if it helps. If not, I will swap it. I love this thing! Its getting more love than my ipad atm, but I think I can make room for both of them in my already-gadget-overloaded life lol.

I was wondering if its really the kernal that's causing the freezing. My N7 2013 right now freezes after about 15 minutes of turning it on, and the only way to unfreeze is by holding down the power for 10 seconds. My tablet will constantly do this after each turn on, but once I placed it in safe-mode there is no freezing. I am thankful that mine doesn't have the touch screen issue though! but this freezing problem is really driving me bonkers.
I nodded off for a few minutes the other day when I had FBReader up and when I woke up and tried to exit it was non-responsive. I get the impression FBReader forces the screen to stay on, but perhaps everything else goes to sleep anyway? That's the only freeze I can remember seeing.

nope.. still faster than web download
Strange. I just downloaded an app on my note 4 and on my wife's G2. Her G2 blew mine away in how fast it downloaded the app.
I have actually been shocked at how fast mine is over my 3 to be honest..

Yes I actually have noticed it. It's greatly delayed before it actually starts to download anything. Sometimes takes a full minute. One it starts it usually downloads it quickly. I also have the wifi going to sleep while the screen is off issue and will be getting my phone replaced though. (It still has the delay on LTE with no wifi though)
I did a factory reset and it seems to be working as expected now. I'm going to install all apps I previously had, set it up as I had before, and see if it starts delaying again.
So I got the S6Edge and its suppose to be lag free most of the time, but mine lags when typing and sometimes misses letters I type, also the touchwiz launcher sometimes freezes and switching apps lag and stutter, google chrome and the Samsung browser aren't smooth at all, they suffer from freeze and lag, what can I do?
Will flashing stock firmware remove lag?
Start ing to regret this phone, I paid $1000 for it and there's lag..
Yes thats what im thinking also, this supposed to bw the fastest phone amd t still lags . I had the Nexus 6 , Moto 2014 and the Htc m8 all of them with zero lag. From Galaxy s6 edge I take out the camera and everything else is a fail.
I don't have these issues. I would go ahead and start fresh.

I have no lag or stutter at all. I'm rooted.
The only issue is a not so good battery life but it's been fixed by using airplane mode at home where I literally have no signal and depend on WiFi calling anyway.
If you had to update via OTA then I suggest you re-flash the stock ROM as that doesn't seem to have issues while the OTA might have introduced a few

Yeah mine does it too. I'm very close to returning my phone. I have gone through two so far, my third one will be delivered today. If this has stutter as well along with GPS issues, I'm done. I have less than 7 days left in my buyers remorse period. So It is now or never.
I may try the M9, but I honestly think I'm just gonna use my iPhone 6 until the Nexus 2015 or Note 5 is available.

I was in your boat too. Try the suggestion above. There is something with the update they pushed that is not only killing the battery but makes the entire phone lag. Follow the thread posted above and clear cache and do a full reset. I was literally going to go get an M9 2 days ago before I did this. Entirely different phone now. I got 15 hours today with over 4 hours screen on time and zero lag.

Okay cool I'll give it a try. On another note though it appears to have been hardware issues. My GPS was broken so it kept seeking location which dropped my battery way down. It also just couldn't find my location. I have cleared cache and done all that jazz with it and even used GPS Fix to no avail. So far this new replacement seems to be doing the job.
I'll take a look at not doing the OTA.

Just my two cents, I think this is a memory leak issue. I've seen the phone start to get bogged down but with a quick restart, the smoothness returns as it should. I'm hoping that 5.1 will fix this memory leak.
If all else fails try this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3079176

Is it just me or is the Facebook app VERY slow? For the past few weeks it's been ridiculously slow for me, I mean taking a full 5-10 seconds to load anything after I tap the app icon. Always used to be lightning quick but now it's not. A couple other apps seem to be a bit slower also but Facebook is by far the most noticeable. ??? Any ideas?
My battery has been draining a little faster than normal lately but even worse than that it seems to be charging very slowly, not like before. I've read the recent March OTA is to blame for that, is that correct? Any ideas for this? I thought about doing a factory reset but that's a hassle setting everything up again. Just tough it out until April OTA? Or another fix?
Thank you!

If you have Xposed, go into the installer, hit the 3 dot menu on the top right I think, and choose optimize apps now.
If you don't have it installed, seems like you've already done the usual clearing cache/data.
If you haven't already, try a simple reboot of your device?

The only time it goes a bit smoother now is when i reboot the phone, it's like the phone is throttling after a while and slowing down until rebooted, except it's not even lasting a day now.
