RAM issue & color issue on OP3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I'm a new op3 user .. just got my phone
I know about the ram issue and color issue on op3 but is it fixed by default in ota updates ???
Must i root my device to solve ram issue or it's fixed on official update and just need to update my phone ?

Yes both of them were resolved through OTAs, the background app limit was increased and sRGB mode was added in developer options. you can also change the colour balance from the display options which is basically a slider for warn and cool screen tones.

Yes. The phone now allows you to keep more apps open in background before killing them. There is a sRGB mode under developer settings if you don't like the stock colour profile.

b112 - screen brightness problems

Hi,
anyone experienced issues with brightness level on B112? i bought the phone used on ebay, and it came with this firmware
if the brightness is set at the middle, it looks like is set at minimum, and if i try to set it below middle, the screen goes totally black ( 0 visibility )...also if i set the screen on auto brightness, the second it is set, it goes blank screen ( the screen is working, just the brightness is so low you cannot see anything )
also, should i consider upgrading from B112 to a newer firmware? performance wise, i am very happy with B112, because comparing with B125 ( on my second ascend p6 ) it runs smoother, no lag in menu at all ( so far ). i also get in antutu 15200-15700 scores with B112.
any thoughts are welcome

Hello,
Are you using the buttons at the pulldown menu or the phone settings menu to set the brightness ?
If it happens only when you are using the pulldown menu you can try the following (if you have a rooted phone) :
1.First of all, make a copy of build.prop and save it on your SD card !
2.Open build.prop (located in system folder in your device) with a root file explorer (like ES File Explorer on Google Play).
3.Look for this line "ro.config.disablesmbacklinght=true".
4.Replace "true" with "false".
5.Reboot the phone.
PS : You can save the changes in build.prop only if you mount your system like RW (see the ES File Explorer settings)
it happens all the time, doesn't matter how I get to screen brightness...it acts the same

Do you have the Smart Backlight option ON in the phone settings menu > Display ? Try to disable it !
It is possible that you have a preinstalled application like Screen Filter (by the last owner)? If yes, try to uninstall it !
Best regards,

smart backlight is OFF
there is no app preinstalled, as i have factory reset the phone...no other funky app either
i was thinking maybe there is a system file that can be tweaked with, to edit a maximum and a minimum parameter for the brightness ...

You have the possibility to check if it is a software problem using Lux Dash application (do a search on Google Play).
"Lux is a third-party app that allows you to easily calibrate your phone’s brightness sensor".You could try it !

i tried Lux, and it works, but it does not have any calibrate function, it is a good alternative to default screen brightness tho...
I was hoping for a fix for the default ( built in ) screen brightness setup menu...anyway, this will do the trick for now
thanks

New dark mode. android 10

Don't get me wrong. Love the new update and love the new location settings. Specially as it is about time they brought it on par with iOS. But what is with the new dark mode. If you got the new dark mode everything should change right away. Why Gmail Google app and play store not turned dark yet. Why do we have to wait for more updates. This is where Samsung and I will say Huawei give them credit get things right.
We have to wait, coz not all apps are ready yet.
So, where's your problem? U run without dark mode since KitKat, so it can not be in such a hurry.
Apart from that it was already announced before the release that some apps still have to be optimized or revised so that the dark mode works 100%
Play store is dark themed for me, you can turn on force dark mode in developer options and it will try and theme almost anything, Gmail is still white. It will turn off on reboot though. You can also set accent color too.
There is no problem. I actually liking the new update. What would of been perfect if they could of released everything on the day of release. If Samsung could do it why not the creators of android. And thank you guys for the replies
You can force dark mode under System->Developer Options (just search for 'force' and its at the bottom of results). It will enable dark mode everywhere.
With gmail, they are overriding that override setting and forcing it to be white because they are preparing for native gmail dark mode. But you can override the override of the override by downgrading the gmail app to system app version, which has the dark mode when you enable force dark mode from Developer options. I love the dark mode gmail. It just awesome!
Hope that helps!

Good tip with the force dark mode, thanks! With the turning off on reboot though, is that meant to apply to the accent color option too? I've set that and icon shape and it seems to keep resetting itself... It seems silly to reset theme options like that, but that would explain why I keep losing them...

No way around this afaik, but I'm sure someone will come up with an app or something to enable on boot.

Always On Display (AOD) - Strange Color Problem

Hi Volks,
I have a strange problem with my A70s Always On Display (AOD). When I set the color of the clock (regardless of the clocks face) to light grey (upper leftmost color in the color selection screen) it shows the correct color in the preview picture in settings but actually displays the parts of the clocks face that should be grey in BLUE!!? Has anyone else faced this issue? Does anyone know where AOD reads its settings from?

same here. i learned to live with it. if i remember correctly i posted about this quite some time ago but no one helped me.
so here i am living a blue amoled. sucks.:crying::crying:
but for me this happens only when i flash twrp n root using magisk.
if i stay unrooted the display remains OK.
i have the FN model.
though some times the display starts working properly but only till next lock
Same here, but it disappeared all of a sudden after some time. Now on November update (manually flashed), and AOD works like it should

You flashed 4ASK6, TWRP to recovery and rooted with Magisk?
// update:
I flashed the November Update (4ASK6) and rooted with Magisk using the vanilla method of patching the AF-file. It seems like the version of TWRP by Grarak is no longer able to decrypt the data partition. AOD is back to normal.
May be its off topic, try this AOD+ on https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-6-0-aod-display-rooted-rooted-t4082935
Just my two cents
Try to adjust display tone towards warm if it's too. Blue.

Question 12 "Stable" Issues Thread

Besides the general low quality of this piece of software, here are some specific pains:
1. SafetyNet test fails (no root) - WTF? Can't use any of my work applications because of that.
2. Status bar notification icons don't appear (except for Gmail, for some reason)
3. About device shows there's an update available but I can't update because I'm not the "owner" of the device (there is only 1 user configured, no multiple users) - screenshot attached.
Please share your experience and whether or not you're seeing the same issues (or more).
Thanks!
Another botched update from oneplus scams
Well, it's a good thing I decided that the OP9P would be my last OP smartphone. I'm gona stick with Pixel phone from now on. Finally release A12 and no phone or data works. Really OP???
- Phone stuck in 60hz like 99% of the time.
- Keyboard doesn't have this convenient padding anymore. (On botttom to make typing easier.)
- [Launcher] Can't search apps with a single up swipe anymore, will have to find some hacky solution again. Usually I put a KISS launcher shortcut on other phones. But why ruin it when they had it ....
- [Launcher] Folders open on the middle of screen. Makes no sensse.
- [Launcher] The whole launcher experience is just way worse.
- Battery Management is a mess, now there are other options per app. The previous settings were reset.
- Rooting with Canary Magsik can soft brick. Managed to fix it but it took me a while and I consider myself a veteran.
Honestly, tons of great features are missing. I wish they would just give us a lean AOSP instead like the ASUS Android and call it a day. This feels like a botched, budget Android on a cheap Chinese phone.
App drawers can only display 4 icons per row. Anyone knows how to change it to 5 per row or more?
it is no longer possible to film and in 21:9... or I am blind.
Like a say h8Aramex Phone stuck in 60hz like 99% of the time.

That's not actually a bug, that's feature. Go to notification settings for particular app and you can set to show notification icon on status bar. Disabled by default for all apss (I think it should be enabled by default), except Gmail, Dialer and a few others.
Bug I found:
- font size issues. I want to set small fonts and dpi. But some apps, like default camera app, power menu, google feeds when swipe etc has still default large font, experience is terrible
- custom dpi set in developer settings will be reverted after reboot. If you set smaller dpi in phone settings, it will be applied a few seconds after boot, phone starts with default dpi
- AOD does not work, even if enabled, screen will turn off when inactive
I installed via built in ota from Oxygen 11 Global, I got update to ColorOS 12
Just got my first 1+ yesterday and was really impressed with the OOS 11 experience.
All day long. All the magic has gone after the update.
In addition to what was already said, the AOD is flickering terribly.
Perhaps it is caused by the pwm of low frequency.
Lol, I paid 1000 euros for this phone because the software was supposed to be good...
Oh yeah, the CLOCK. What is WRONG with that CLOCK!? LMAO.
I mean look at this ABOMINATION.
WHO DRAWS A CLOCK LIKE THAT? SATAN?!?!??!
Like wtf lol.
I have a new problem. I listen to music while walking with my wireless headphones. The phone is in my pocket. Unknown reason causes the phone to crash.
I feel it's going to be complicated.... At least I have 5G working.
Why would they remove the seconds on the clock feature. This update is horrible all around

Get Nova launcher and don't look back?
I'm not even going to upgrade A12, I deleted the 4gig update I got from Oxygen Updater. Oneplus just shoot them self in the foot and will not recover from this. I'll be suprise if they sell 1k Oneplus 10 phone next month.

Is your phone in 24-hour format? Mine looks normal in 12-hour format but like yours in 24-hour format. I don't use the stock clock app so I hadn't noticed.

They didn't. This is only when setting an alarm in the clock app.
Camera goes bananas when zoomed beyond 10x.. See attached
Any custom DPI set in developer options is completely lost after reboot.
Reported by me multiple times and was also seen in previous phones/Android versions.
Hi all, i can't open the icon option in the Launcher and and in the settings too it simply crash and nothing. Anyone as an idea? I just wipe launcher data but nothing.

Did you select "High" refresh rate in settings? Mine is at 120hz the vast majority of the time.
I have issues with screen brightness not adjusting to low-light conditions. When setting my phone on my dash mount I have to manually adjust the screen brightness down or go blind, even in dark mode. Worked fine with Oxygen OS 11. Fairly disappointed with the overall quality of this update, and I usually love getting the shiny new OS version update.

Themes / Apps / Mods [ROOT] Tune saturation, white balance and enable HBM on your Pixel!

[BIG UPDATE]
User Adrian got inspired by this and created a Magisk module to make things even easier and without the need to keep apps running on background, check it out!

Hey!
I'm in love with my Google Pixel 6 Pro, however, I don't like the screen at all, I wanted to be able to customize how it looks.
Been looking for a way to modify how it looks, CF.lumen fixed the white balance, Sa2ration changes the saturation of your display, you can decrease it all you want, or make it as saturated as you want.
All this apps should/may work on other devices too.
CF.lumen - Apps on Google Play
Adapts your screen's colors based on sun's position, sleep pattern, and sensors
play.google.com
[ROOT] Sa2ration - Apps en Google Play
Alterar su saturación en Android Oreo (descripción leída!)
play.google.com
[Paid app, HBM to use the max brightness of the device without auto brightness]
Enable HBM in app and then enable and disable auto brightness in phone settings, not app settings, that way you will have the absolute maximum brightness of the display, you can enable on the app settings restore hbm after screen off to have it at max brightness always. *There is a QS hbm toggle too*
High Brightness Mode - Apps on Google Play
See your screen in bright sunshine. High brightness mode for your phone
play.google.com
For CF.lumen, enable location, set permissions for the app and do the following:
1 - Location, tap to update or input manually any location, that's only to avoid crashes when manually changing white balance, disable location after that if you don't need it.
2 - Master filter mode, custom, there you can modify RGB values to your taste, I use 0.955 on Red, 0.975 on Green, 1.000 on Blue, but feel free to try until you enjoy how it looks.
Now, for Sa2ration, after installing, simply move the slider until you like that you have, if it does not change, use the setting "enable color management" it's kinda glitchy and may requiere it or not on your device, I use 1.10, really like how it looks!
[Bonus, under developer settings, you can fully hide the display cutout, I also recommend to set the dpi to 410-430 with or without cutout as it will make some landscape animations a single slide instead of two, try pulling down notification panel when landscape mode, try all animations 0.5x too, you may like how it looks, if you see an app crashing disable developer settings as it may create issues like that sometimes]
[Bonus 2, try Iconify magisk module, you can customize your Pixel with that, even enable pure dark oled theme, thanks to Facundo Holzmeister from @howtomen on tiktok!]

Hey, the only way to customize it is to use the service.sh file and modify it before flashing. That's all I know so far.
