[Q] Missing Buttons

I dont know if this happened to my phone before root or after root + custom rom.
When you open google play market on the top right you should have 3 dot menu. on my phone it is missing that. does any one know how to get it back ? thanks

Hi, If you installed a custom ROM, your 3-dot menu should be disabled and the menu key is remapped to recent key (The last touch key on your phone under the screen)
And to repair it you probably have a tweak section on your ROM (based on j4n87 tweaks) go to the tweaks and change it back

Tab 3 7.0 (wifi) Questions (already successfully rooted)

Hi,
i am new and i have a few questions. I got a Tab 3 7.0 (Wifi) 4.1.2 with custom cwm recovery and rooted.anything else is stock.
I twice made a complete backup with titanium backup pro and once with cwm in recovery.
1.The tab changes my time +2 h by itself. Where can i change that or is that a bug?
2. i was offered an ota by samsung and i accepted, it registered my device and said my software has been modified and i cannot ota update.
How can i update then?
3. did i do a mistake by letting them register my device?
Maybe if a flash counter reset comes it wont help me cos now they know i flashed something and i lost my warrantY?
4. how does an official os update influence my software modifications (root, custom recovery etc)?
5. how do i switch between running apps?
6. how do i group mymenu apps into folders? I can create a folder in menu but when i try to drag an app into it i can only drag it to homescreen.
7. which website has a top 100 best android apps always current and considers also root only apps?
8.how do i setup navigon navigation thru voice control?
9.how do i stop the notification craziness on the top left corner of my screen?
I dont want any commercials there or update nots. It should silently keep my apps updated.?
10. How do i move my apps to my sd card? I have titanium backup pro 6.10 but it doesnt show in the settings.
i watched videos of people doing it but my settings do not offer the same as theirs? Do i need a bootstrap or something else except the custom recovery and root to get that feature?
Sorry for so many questions i just left ios.. Thanks a lot

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab S - Live Demo Unit

Hi all, bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Live Demo Unit. It came from John Lewis and is in mint condition. It originally had the Model number SM-T700x but after using Odin 3.09 and flashing a stock Rom: T700XXU1ANF9_T700BTU1ANG1_BTU (Uk version) it now shows SM-T700. I'm not sure its completely replaced the firmware although it flashed successfully and most things appear to function as they should. A few things make me think something isn't quite right though and these are:
The Samsung Startup screen shows "Live Demo Unit"
Under Settings > General > Backup and reset > Personal Data: Factory reset is greyed out.
I can't pull down from the top of the screen, if I'm in say My Files it obscures the top information bar but if I place my finger at the top of the screen and swipe down the slim black bar appears, swiping up removes it. I'm not sure if this is what its supposed to do. but I have a Samsung Note and when I swipe down from the top I get a information page and so assume it would behave very similar.
I cannot uninstall some of the bloatware apps and games that samsung have probably installed, I think they call them Galaxy Gifts.
I can install apps and uninstall the apps I have installed
I haven't rooted it yet and am a little unsure which root to use, so a bit of advice for that and any other help would be great.
TIA
Did a bit of reading and went with the CF Auto Root to root device.
Could I now flash something like CM11, would be interesting to see if it would fix some of the possible issues I think I have?
Had a bit of time to get back on this problem. thought I would document what I did to fix this, kind of an idiots guide and for future reference.
So having installed CF Auto Root with Odin 3.09...
installed TWRP via Google Play
Once installed I opened TWRP.
I clicked on Install TWRP
Tapped Device name and scrolled through the list until I found Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Klimwifi (Mine is Wifi Only) - its easiest to just scroll right to the bottom of the list and count up about 15 or 16 or approx middle of the screen.
I then Tapped on Install Recovery - Once all that was done I turned the SGT S off.
Pressed and held: Home, plus Volume Up and finally the Power button, waited until I saw the TWRP screen and released the buttons
Once TWRP recovery was up I tapped on Wipe and at the bottom of the next screen I swiped to factory reset.
Once that was done I went back to the main screen in TWRP recovery and tapped the reboot button, then tapped System
The SGT S started up and I could now set it up correctly, I can now swipe down to bring the top menu into view, I can get the side menu up and factory reset is no longer greyed out.
Only niggle I have now is the first screen that pops up saying Demo Unit, if anyone knows how to get rid of that please let me know.
Galaxy tools
You could try using galaxy tools to change the code of the tab. I know i have a note 3 and when the code reads SPR it defines the phone as a sprint phone so everytime I boot up I get the sprint intro rather than the default samsung boot. XAS normally is the international code.

Thanks for the input, do you mean Galaxy Toolbox? if so the SGT S isn't supported, if you mean another App can I have a link to take a look?
It's called galaxytools and its universal for all samsung galaxy phones/tablets. Just make sure you back everything up and once you install the app open it and look at the online manual and it will tell you what options does what

Change scroll down menu to stock android

Hello,
I have a rooted phone with stock rom, is it possible to change the scroll down menu from the default LG to stock android like on CM without installing a new rom?
What scroll down menu are you referring to?
The one it appears when you scroll down you finger from the top of the screen, and where you have the WiFi, data, volume, rotation buttons etc.
It probably has a specific name but I'm afraid I don't know it, English is not my first language

How do I root / band 20 / change DPI?

Hi guys,
I’ve just bought a Mi Max which is running MIUI global 8.1 – 8.1.6.0. I’m actually really enjoying MIUI, the performance is great but a couple of things I want to sort out with it so would appreciate your help:
1. How do you root this firmware and if I do will it block future OTA updates? I’d be keen to update to Android N when MIUI update to it.
2. I’m sure I saw a guide to unlock band 20 LTE is this possible?
3. The icons are far too big, is there any way of reducing the size, I think it’s DPI setting right? Hopefully easy to do with root / xposed?
Thanks very much!
Andy
For 1.:
There are a couple of ways to root. You can upgrade to a MIUI developer build (download it from http://en.miui.com/download-302.html, go to Updater, tap the menu button on the upper right, tap Choose Update Package, then choose the .zip you just downloaded). Then, go to the Security app, tap Permissions, then Allow Root Access. You should then be prompted and warned about root access; if you accept, then after a short update, your phone will be rooted! OTA updates won't be blocked. Everything is official, after all, and MIUI doesn't use incremental OTAs, only full ROM images.
MIUI official root will bug you with a couple of warnings every time you try to give root permission to an app, though.
Otherwise, just unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, then Install SuperSU.
For 3: There's a few values to change:
a: Change the persist.miui.density_v2 property in build.prop,
b: Use ADB with the command "adb shell wm density NNN" where NNN is the density you want.
c: Change ro.sf.lcd_density in build.prop; a few apps look for that particular value.
A screen density of 320 works well...
Though the MIUI launcher does not adjust to different dpis well, so it will look bad in my opinion. Install another launcher.
As for 2:, I have no idea. I don't have LTE, and I've never looked into LTE.

The easiest answer to number 3 would be to install another launcher. Changing the DPI will affect everything on screen, i.e text, status bar, menus, buttons. It will also affect the way apps display on your phone and may change their layout. If all you need to do is reduce icon size just install something like Nova and change the icon size in Nova's settings.

Thanks for your advice however I wiped the device to install the developer rom you mention but this doens't have a native option for rooting, apparently this is only available in the chinese version of the developer rom
Got to work out how to do it the manual way now including unlocking the bootloader, but then I won't be receiving OTA updates
