Hi all, I have a Joying 4.4.4 Head unit RK3188 with the JY MCU. I have plenty of experience rooting phones, roms, kernels, etc. I am a little confused when it comes to this unit though. I do not want to brick my unit so any help is appreciated, If anybody could lead me to some instructions or download links. I would like to us Malaysk's software if possible. I have a few packages downloaded and have been researching but I want to make sure I have the correct files so that I do not brick my unit, any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Read the wiki and the relevant forums. There's too much to tell.
I had no experience with rooting phones etc and i managed to install a custom rom and set up my unit the way i want it by reading, reading and reading. Effort put in to learn reaps rewards.
All the info is on the site. Someone of your experience should not have a problem.

Hello,
I just picked up an HTC 6800 unit branded the P4000 from Telus. It came with WM5 and I would like to load WM6 on it. I've been reading lots around here trying to get all the tools and information I need to move forward but more than anything I'm nervous that I will brick my phone. I know my phone is very new and I'm not sure if these tools will work on my model or not?
From what I understand I need to use the CID Unlock to allow me to upgrade my ROM and Radio for WM6.
I think with a little trial and error that I have enough knowledge to get this working it's just like I said I'm not sure if these tools will work on my phone.
Can someone please tell me if this will work or give me some links to other posts that might help.
Thanks in advance for everyones help,
Dave

DO NOT UPGRADE with WM6 in this forum! the phone you have is the Herald which is not the same as the Hermes. If I am right yours has a 200mhz chip and the keyboard slides out to the right. If you upgrade with the Hermes WM6 it will brick your device.

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING, IT IS A DIFFERENT PHONE!
Hi People,
I have only just found out that you can change the ROM's and all sorts of thing with My HTC Desire.
I have had my phone for 2 weeks, I'm on Virgin Mobile and don't have a clue.
I was talking to a guy at work who has one and he told me about you guys.
I have had a look around but can't see anything for the noob...lol (ME!!!).
I was wondering is anyone could give me some advice on where to start, What to look out for and any general advice on what to do and what not to do?
Any Help would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
BG Macster (Mark)
First thing is to ask yourself why you want to change the ROM on the unit. Are you running out of space or are you just the type who likes to have more control?
I didn't root for months as the phon, out the box, does exactly what I want it to do. The only reason I've rooted now is to run the HD ROM but otherwise I'd stay stock.
You're going to get people reply with 'root it now, don't ever think of going stock, bla bla bla' but it's an individual thing, as is the choice of ROM. Read up on the stickied threads in the various forums and use the search button a LOT!

Welcome Mark.
EddyOS has provided you some excellent advice - don't rush into anything.
Mostly people do this as a kind of 'hobby' (including me) and you can end up with some cool stuff on your phone that HTC never intended you to have or have much later on. On the flip side, you can also wreck your phone too through doing the wrong thing or just plain bad luck. HTC can be a bit difficult in fixing stuff under warranty if you've been mucking about with your device, so be warned.
Everything you need to know about rooting and flashing (conjures up interesting images doesn't it?) is contained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
So read up, lurk about a bit in the forums and if you think you need to - have a go.
Good luck!
Thanks Guys Some sound advice there i will look around before i do a thing.
Many Thanks
First thing I would do, though, is check the ROM currently running on your Desire and get the RUU* file in case you ever need to go back to stock after rooting. To check, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and make a note of the software version.
You can then go to this site and see if the version you're on at present is available. If it is, download it:

*RUU = ROM Upgrade Utility, official package from HTC to install a ROM
Hey everyone,
so i've been going through these forums every now and then in anticipation to the day that my warranty expires and I can root my, currently pretty laggy, tablet. I've been at it for hours and feel absolutely helpless.
Would anyone be kind enough to guide me, semi-idiot proofly, through what I have to do. I actually feel lost, and it's a terrible feeling.
Questions:
- I am on a mac, is it easily doable or do you recommend a PC?
- What information do I need sorted?
- I've already transferred everything important to an external and just want a clean sweep of the tablet, is that possible or will i need to do a backup anyway?
- Where do I get started? What's next?
- What do i need to note down/does someone who wants to help me need to know? (baseband version, kernel version, build number?)
Info:
- SM-P605
- Android 4.3
- No warranty
-(what else is needed?)
thanks and im sorry if this has been asked before, I just jump from forum to forum and then confuse myself all over

Hey guys, I'm here as a guest in your forums.
Maybe you've seen me in the Galaxy S5 forums or more recently in the OnePlus One forums, maybe not. Either way hello. So I know enough to get by as far as ADB, sideloading, rooting, loading ROMs, firmware, etc. Anyways, I don't know much about the ZF2 but his is in a bootloop and I need the fastest, easiest way to get it from bootloop with no bootloader on it whatsoever, to stock. So who's got the goods? I've recently downloaded the toolkit from the General forum, but it requires me to have a bootloader to access any functionality. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Never mind, I found some advice on the dev forum. Take it easy guys!

Admin: Close thread please, thanks!
I've just got this new slate and ever since was trying to root it. I've done some research online but with my limited knowledge on this area, I couldn't find anything helpful.
Anybody here has been successful with this?? Can you show me how to get it done? Any help would be much appreciated.
Here's some information of the device I figured would be helpful:
Model number: Lenovo TB-7304X
Kernel version: 3.18.35
Build number: TB-7304X_S000027_170922_ROW
Software version: TB-7304X_RF01_170922
CPU: MediaTek MT8735D

I don't have this device but, the following thread may be helpful for what you are looking to do and don't be afraid to ask for some member guidance within it too.

Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your response.
I've still been researching since and found some new information. It seems that most Android Nougat devices still can't be rooted. I figure that I will have to wait a bit longer for something to open up
Did you achieve anything?
I tried using KingRoot to root it, but no luck. I doubt we will ever be able to root this device... :/
Up for this, this Tablet is Extremely Slow.... I guess that we could have find a another way how to customize this unit...
same problem
