Flipping through home screens without stopping - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Is there any way I can make it so that I when I'm swiping through my home screens it doesn't stop on the last one? It doesn't allow me to continue by going back to the first screen. My previous note does this.

Try an alternative launcher like nova. There is no continuous scrolling for the tw launcher as far as I know.

All you have to do is remove the Briefing/similar app located on the first page of the homescreen, and you will be able to swipe continuously.

Does this work on the Note 7 again? Because it doesn't work on the Note 5.

No this doesn't work. I disable that app as soon as I get my phone.

[Q] sense screen removal?

hey there i have a 2.3.3 dinc2 so i cant root it yet but i really do like the sense widgets so dont wanna change to adw or launcherpro, but wondering if there is anyway to make it 5 homescreens instead of 7? i know on touchwiz you can but ive looked through all the settings and cant find it on my di2. anyone know if it can be done and how?
No you can't
Why would you want to get rid of home screen? If they aren't getting used then you most likely won't see them and won't bother you. But from what I see after having played with my phone there is no option for that.

Wallpaper position...less screens more of the wallper is visible. I hate that you can't pick which screen is the home screen either.

Err. I guess I had problems trying to get the picture not to get blown up when setting wallpaper.

You can. Go into the Sense previews and hold in one screen and you can move it. Is this what you're talking about?

No not really, that just let's you move the screens around but the home screen is always the center one. what I meant was making any screen the home screen regardless of that screens position

I don't quite understand what you want it to do..You can make any of the screens the home screen by moving it to the center.
He wants to make the left-most screen (for example) the home screen, not just move the contents of the left-most screen onto the center screen.
And yeah, the lack of home screen configureability is probably the biggest reason I don't use Sense. I only use 3 to 4 screens, and don't need or want any more.

My 3 dots are on the lockscreen when I lock the screen

It happens when I lock it from twitter. Maybe other apps as well, unchecked though. Here is a pick of the reproducible problem
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The option dots. They hold no function when pressed
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
it's a bug in ICS that displays the menu buttons when on the lockscreen. it's not suppose to happen. most likely they'll fix it in an update eventually.
If u use ADW EX home launcher that 3 dot menu on lockscreen unlocks the phone by just pressing on it.

It happens in WhatsApp too.

If I don't go back to home screen before I lock. I have the 3 buttons displayed. These seem to override the slide to unlock. This is not really an issue tho I suppose as slide to unlock isn't secure anyway
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I assumed it was a feature. It only pops up on slide to unlock setting and I always use that instead of sliding when I have apps open.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
But isn't slide to unlock supposed to be a more secure lock over a none lock to prevent accidental phone unlock in your pocket? That's the whole point of "sliding" to unlock, not "pressing".
If that really is a feature they should give us an option to disable it. But I still think its a bug.
How often is something in your pocket going to find those three little dots and hit that specific part of your phone to unlock it..?
Better yet.. how often is your phone screen even on when in your pocket?
This always happens when locking when you are in an app
Or in browser....sort off shortcut feature tap it and you are right back in the app that is open at the moment

I think u missed my point.
It defeats the purpose of "sliding".
Why not just have ONE unlock button instead of sliding and 3dots?, since both have the same function.
Isn't Android about choices? Couldn't I chose to tap the 3 dots vs sliding all the time?

Well, then I want my choice to disable that "feature".
this is a bug, even google has admitted it's a bug. why do you find it so hard to believe that?

That's what I said, I hope ppl joke when they say it's a feature. Otherwise its sad to see "unwise" individuals on XDA (no offense to anybody).
I know this bug might not bother many, but I really want stock Android to be more polished and not half baked.
I hope OTA update is coming soon with fixes for all these little/big bugs.

Why do you care so much? It doesn't matter if people think it is a bug or not if it is a bug it will get fixed. It doesn't make a difference if someone thinks it is a bug or not because either way it will be fixed if it is.

Menu "dots" at bottom of screen

I have rooted my phone using Chainfire's root method and I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the menu dots at the bottom of the screen? Seems like a waste of screen realestate to have them there.

Got screen shot. Not sure how to insert it into message. Attached.
I think u need a different launcher. ..thays a touchwiz thing..
U can make less screens therefore less dots...on your home screen pinch to zoom and you can erase some screens
There's a setting to get rid of them, I can't recall where right now but I'm running TW and I have mine turned off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
LRD, if you have yours turned off in touchwiz then it apparently can be done, but I havent come across it in any of the "settings" that I can find.
Thanks all.
Cause hes full of ****
●○●○takin a crap as we speak●○●○
The only way is to have only one page. Remove all the other ones and there will be no more dots.
Negitory....one screen will still have 1 dot
So... I'm gathering that there is not a way to do this in native TW or in any setting anywhere. And that's fine, just wondering if it could be done. Seems like a waste of screen realestate to take up half an inch or so with something that IMHO isnt used much.
I thought I saw a menu option to get rid of those but I must have been on another launcher. My bad.

You're too focused on what I say, why not put some of that energy into answering the op's question? Because the only reason you come on XDA is to bash someone... You're an angry little boy.

Use a different launcher. I bought nova launcher prime and its def worth the buy with the options you get. There is a free version and I used that on my skyrocket so I decided to just pay for it when I got my note 2.

Thanks to all. Tried Go Launcher once a few months back on my Galaxy S. Really slowed it down. I'll give Nova launcher a try. Thanks again.

[Q] Missing Pin or Thumbtack for S Pen

I apologize for what I think is a really dumb question. Where is the pin or thumbtack for the S Pen action memo? When I begin an action memo, I don't see the thumbtack or pin icon at the top of the memo next to the check mark and x where I think it is supposed to be. It doesn't show up whether I am starting a new memo or editing an old one. Without the pin, I cannot pin the memo to a screen. I have seen the pin icon when I searched youtube for an S Pen overview. But it is no where to be found on my own memos. Does this function need to be turned on?
Not sure of your setup but I read somewhere that you need to be using the stock TouchWiz launcher. I'm using nova and it doesn't work
I'm stock all the way.
I see a thumbtack. Not sure why you don't. I have all the options in the spen settings turned on.
Yep. You have it and i don't.
Hmmm

I agree. I cannot figure it out. And, I am an experienced Android user. I have reviewed all settings.
Mine doesn't have a pin either, running apex launcher
On mine, missing pin if using third party launcher, if I switch back to stock TW launcher it's back.

+1 - On VZW. However, I don't recall having the pin/thumbtack when I was on TW.
I just use the SNote widget instead, close-ish

When you open Action Memo, a "yellow sticky" appears that allows you to write notes/memos. At the top of the sticky, there should be a pin or thumbtack looking icon that allows you to "pin" the memo to one of your home screens as a reminder. We're trying to figure out where the pin went as some of us no longer have it. I don't recall having a pin when I was using TW, so this may be more carrier than launcher related. Don't yet know.

Thanks, I wondered how you do that.
Actually, if you press and hold on that pin, your note will kind of become a widget and you'll be able to read it from your homescreen. This is only available ehite using tw launcher

Thing is, I am not using a special launcher and I am using TW 100%. No pin. It is kind of a bummer because I'd love to have several notes on a separate screen that I can update at will.

Screen vibrates when swiping up from dock! Why?

So I'm using the stock launcher ATM. Have only had the phone since Thursday and past couple days I have. Priced if I swipe up from the dock on a home screen it vibrates. Why is this? Seems like there is something it should trigger like a gesture? Thanks.

Just attempted this out of curiosity, I get 1 vibration from selecting the app drawer and a second vibration after swiping up and removing my finger from the screen.
If I leave my finger on the screen and wait for the second vibration, I get the personalize menu pop up.

Tried that no personalized menu for the home screens for me. Just thought it was odd. Then realised nothing happened after doing it lol. Cheers.
