Metal Band 'minimal' - just a idea... ;) - Sony Smartwatch 3

I try to fix the clock-housing by a black wire.
Work's well, looks nice and light too!
...and with a lil drop of hotglue also the Button is working very smooth!

original

I like the idea, just too "getho" for my taste!!

Nice and simple. Great DIY for when your band breaks and you need a working watch right away. I like the enginuity.

Looks great. Reduces the overall size of the watch. With a little more effort, this could look perfect. I´m still considering getting this watch, even if it´s 2 years old, after Pebble let every one down. I still like Pebbles concept, but I was so disappointed that they ceased all support the day they closed their deal with fitbit that I took off the watch the same day.

Could be used as a solid base for some sugru sculpture, building a silicon housing around the wire frame.

Phantom Skinz Chromatics Black CF..PHOTOS!!!

Hey guys...got the PhantomSkin Chromatic kit in the mail today and decided to install it this morning. The package was very impressive. Included was the Chromatic kit and 2 free screen savers. I was currently using the black OEM gel case with the dinky screen protector. I first put on the screen protector follwing the instructions given. The install was a breeze! Coming from a ZAGG shield, I was very impressed with this screen protector. The screen was clear with little to minimal orange peel! I then started with the Chromatic Install. The battery cover went on smooth. The next thing I did was the camera part. I noticed even though I was pressing down hard and hitting it with the dryer, the sides would pop up! The MT4G has alot of rounded corners so this really concerned me. I went ahead with the bottom part and the sides. Nothing was holding, I dont know if it was the weather or what...I started peeling it off to return the product but decided to look read up here alittle bit. Thanks to member "methodz" who installed this also, I found a new way to install it. I just put on piece by piece, but instead of using the dryer, he recommended a lighter!!! After hearing this, the install was cake..everything stuck on like a glove. I dont recommend this product unless you have the black version as there are many gaps! I love the CF look and it feels great, I am going to keep this setup and match it with the OEM holster till a Otterbox series comes out. Sorry for the big pics, but I wanted everyone to see the detail and the gaps. Hope this helps anybody who was thinking of installing this kit! On to the pics!!!
-Merwin
FYI: I aligned the battery cover after these pictures were taken.
SET #2
Man that looks good. Also looks like a lot of work to get perfectly lined up and stuck down. How much was that?
I'm gonna make out resident screen protector application expert put mine on! It should be here soon

the back of my phone looks like that, but i didn't use the side pieces, just the 3 main pieces on the back.
That looks really good, but I don't think I'd have the patience to line all those pieces up perfectly. What's it going to be like when/if you ever decide to remove them off the phone?
I checked out that site after getting my MT4G, and can't you choose what design you want for your phone? It didn't even show a picture of what it would look like after selecting the one for the MT4G.
Nice photos BTW!

It looks difficult but really easy. It was easy to align. The kit cost $29.99 but there is a 30% off coupon on their site. You get the Chromatic kit plus two free screen protectors for $20.96 shipped to your door!

Thanks! I used by DSLR and bounced the flash so you can get an idea of the CF pattern and tried to get as much detail as possible. The install was easy bro! Also I peeled off some of the stuff i slightly heated and it came off without residue!
Looks good, but it would concern me that the silver bezel is still exposed to possible scratching/damage in the event of a drop. Is there any way to protect that with a skinz type of system like this?
Also, you were able to peel off some without residue, but does anyone have experience trying to get this kind of thing off after a few months?

Just get close to the parts that arent sticking well and run it back and forth maybe like 3 timess to give it a little heat. Dont let the flame touch the CF. Get your thumb afterwards and stroke it into place LOL! GL on the install!
Geezz....I already messed up the screen shield.....DUNNO this instruction says soap, but id doesn't workout....
I see kinda wave-y pattern....is it normal?
Ain't for me this job...I'm pissed now
PS: redid it, look ok now, not perfect job though......Scared to apply the CF skin.
yes, this phone has a lot curve, Even Zagg was hard to put on the phone. but I manage to get zagg stick in to the phone now.
If it doesn't work, I can send it back for replacement. I hope you guy can send your Phantom skinz back too if you mess it up.

haha, i guess i'm daring... i stuck the skin on first and lit the actual CF areas. just don't light it for too long or you can damage something, just a split second or a few passes. you will find some of the skin doesn't stick too well if it is cold out so you will have to heat it. the instructions say use a blow dryer but i used a lighter instead.
I did it! And actually I am very impressed with my results on CF skin! Was easy and trick with the lighter worked fantastic! Very pleased! Looks and feels great!
Thank you guyz!
Looks nice! I would warn people you will feel the edges of the skin when you hold the phone. I used that on an iPhone and removed it after getting tired of feeling the edges of the skin.

thats kinda how it works out... i work at radioshack and im the one resident geek... i root all the phones, hack wii's, xbox, ps3... one of the guys is really good at applying screen protectors and such. when mine gets here i'll take it to him and have him put it on... then im sure we'll go use that lighter for something else...

Neah, I barely feel anything. It really depends, I guess, on the shape of the phone. Maybe iPhone is not well suited for this, but mine feels smooth and nice.
I warmed up really well the edges with the lighter when I applied the skin, so it set tight.

Just a note for others: the screen protector will show artifacts and other random blobs that may look like smudges when its fresh. This should go away within 48 hours as it completely dries. Just relax and be patient, the world wasn't built in a day.
AFAIK all of these types of protectors (zagg, bse, ps)recommend putting the phone down for 24hrs after application.... to ensure it sticks, and to allow the solution to dry

As soon as you squeeze out most of the water it will work fine for usage. At least with the phantom skinz.

Homemade Docking Station (Lego Content)

Hello everyone,
Today I got creative with my brand new Optimus One.
I wanted to give the phone a more prominent place on my desktop, and here's what I've come up with. ( check attachments , I can't post links)
Getting the phone into the dock is pretty simple.
Just slide it down and it should click into the usb connector.
It did took me a while to get things lined up perfectly.
It might not be the most stable solution, but it's pretty solid.
The rubber bands holding the connector in place are pretty tight.
Any other users here made themselves a dock?
I could also use some tips on making it more stable.
Very nice
handmade stand
Very nice! My ideea was a little different. I used fimo modelling clay i bough from an arts shop with crafting materials (very cheap). You model it the way you want to and them place it in the oven and it hardens. It is very hard and and you can get it in any colours you want. From the leftovers I made a little android guy. I gave it the phone's shape, so it fits quite good and is stable enough. I then glued a piece of fabric so as not to scratch the phone in time. It is not the best looking solution but it fits its purpose perfectly. It took like 20minutes to build it, not including the time it stood in the oven.

Awsome!!!!
Looks cool indeed, only downside is that you still have to plug in the usb connector afterwards ^^
True. I wanted a simple dock to use the phone as a night stand clock thinggie. I'll try another design to incorporate the charger some time.
I really dig you Lego design. Technics all the way!! Fits with the Optimus One robot theming too.
hahahahahahaha seems that your phone is "relaxing" ....
where are the girls dancing around it??? xD

The lego chair is fantastic! I wonder if I still have some pieces here at home...
Very nice! It´s a good idea ^^
Good ideea! I've started thinking about making a dock out of fimo too.
Very smart Gj
im def considering.. doing one out of clay or resin.. and making a usb/headphone port. hmmmm to the drawing board.
Do try. Good matterial, it doesn't break easily (I dropped it numerous times and carried it in my luggage) and you can go wild with designs. Have fun!
I have to steal some LEGO from my kids when they sleep and rebuild that!

Desk stand... something a bit different

After spending nearly two months looking at all the various docks and stands and not particularly liking any of them as it's to go in the bedroom, and in an effort to try and stay away from device-specific accessories when possible , I decided to splash out (well, a whole £16.67 anyway) on a clingo sound sphere thingy thinking that it could be, erm, interesting.
Received it today and the shape is fantastic - not the colour though - white and grey plastic doesn't do it for me but nothing that some spray paint won't fix (it's out drying as I type - and yes, I did cover the clingy bit before spraying)...
The sphere rests on a separate rubber stand so that the viewing angle can be adjusted to anything (meaning you can also switch from portrait to landscape by repositioning the sphere) and there's also a hole at the back to thread a cable through.
There's only one thing that I don't like so much, and it's that the phone sits quite deep in the sphere making it a tad difficult for me to touch the screen given the length of my nails ... will have to learn to use knuckles I guess but given that I plan on only using it as a night-stand, it will do the job just fine.
Will upload some pics once it's dry but in the meantime, here's a couple from the clingo website:
Looks cool. Bit unusual but the shape would produce a nice sound from thew loud speaker - Thanks for sharing

Well it is called "sound sphere"
That would be perfect if it could wirelessly charge the phone at the same time.
Yeah that would be excellent, but then it probably wouldn't be under £20 I've just tried with the cable plugged in the phone and it fits *just*, obviously not such a tight fit if you're not connecting it. Still, I'm rather pleased with my purchase especially now that it's a nice dark purple with a black stand.
looks very cool. wound love to see your painted version. PURPLE AND BLACK! what a fantastic choice of colours!
Small delay I'm afraid... I need to second-coat it but given the abysmal weather I haven't been able to do it yet In the meantime though I've fashioned a cardboard extention for the central piece (which is actually a plastic tube that slides into the sphere) so that the phone doesn't sit so deep in the unit, making it much easier for me to use the screen with my nails and also leaves more room around the phone when it's plugged in
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
i didn't like it... too ugly imo
Wait until I've finished the restyling and posted the pictures before passing judgement ... you'll probably like it even less
I am looking forward to some photos. Tell me, is cutting a notch or hole a solution to the tightly fitting cable issue?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Right, some (not very good) pictures...
Pic 1: the central piece which slides into the sphere onto which the phone clings and the sphere on its stand... this is what you get in the box, except that mine is now sporting new colours
Pic 2: my high-tech cardboard extension to bring the central piece forward. It slides in just like the original piece and also has the same cut out for the cable. Once that's in place, it's just a case of putting the cable trough then sliding the original central piece on top of the extension
Pic 3: extension + cable + central piece in place
Pic 4: side view of the sphere
Pic 5: phone in place, now plenty of room for it to be plugged in without the top of the phone or the cable getting wedged against the sides
Nice job, might I reccomend doing a clear coat to make a little more pro.?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I do have a satin top coat spray on standby (I really don't want a gloss finish), however the weather is not playing nice again today with gusty wind and rain threatening, which definitely aren't the best conditions for spraying... So once again I'll have to wait

Whats the sound like when you play music? Have been considering getting a speaker but if this sounded good it could be a good alternative.
Sent from my toilet.
Well it does sound better, though to be honest I'm probably not the best person to ask because when I play music on the phone, it's usually very low as background when I'm reading in bed. So depending on what you're after, speakers might be better - for me though it's perfectly adequate.

So I turned my Black 360 Silver.

If you hang around on the 360 forums on Reddit, you may have seen my post about my 360. Originally, I had the black 360 with black band, then one day I tripped and took a chunk out of the metal, looked awful. Bought a touch up pen, looked awful. So I made do. Until last week. I was thinking about sanding and polishing my 360 and asked some Redditors and they said it'd be difficult, but me and my friend did some heavy masking and it came out looking sexy. http://imgur.com/a/qrKAk there's an album of the photos, I'm gonna polish it some more, maybe make it almost chrome.
How did you do that? I recently picked up a black one cause they were on sale for $149. Didn't have the silver in stock so I got the black. Wanted the silver. ..if that's not to hard I might try it
I recently bought a silver one for the day's neither my black, nor gold urbane go with my work clothes. Black always goes with my insomnia programming clothes.

Basically we removed the straps, masked the rear, screen and button and starting using some Wet & Dry 800 sandpaper, came off really easily, like it was a coating. Then used a bit of autosol polish yesterday (the pictures were taken last week) and it looks beautiful, I just say be careful.

Looks great, I like the way the black is still in the recesses, looks better imo than the silver version.

Worth it?

I've got a OPO 7pro, is this phone worth it as an upgrade? give me your honest opinion please
I have been using it 3 days. So far it's great but I am worried about what will happen between now and the time I get the case I ordered. I will report the condition of the device after a little longer on a post here. The little screen is a productivity powerhouse, every app so far has worked with the exception of Chrome and Google Search oddly. I'm not sure why they don't want us doing those apps on it.
I'm personally happy with it. This is the first Android phone I've ever owned that I haven't felt the need to root. The small screen in particular is useful when I'm at work
I hope Motorola keeps a regular nearly-Pixel update schedule with this thing

Man I hope it gets at least one major OS update but they seem dedicated to foldables so... who knows...
Another week on with this thing and I am still very impressed. The screen hasn't changed in terms of the bumps and still looks great. I keep this in a jeans pocket and so far the hinge hasn't attracted lint. The small screen has been amazing and discreet.
I have taken up playing Pokemon Crystal on the small outer screen. You can offset the controls to one side and play one handed. I feel like a kid again playing on such a small compact device. I have also found that Among Us works on the screen with no issues but might be too hard to see for some.
So far so good!
Oh, and I ordered a case for it but isn't coming for another couple weeks.. I can't find any decently prices case for this in the US.
